WASHINGTON — Some U.S. airports will tighten security in response to possible terrorist incidents in Britain, the White House said Saturday.
The United States, however, is not raising its terror alert status, President Bush's spokesman said. "There is no indication of any specific or credible threat to the United States -- no change in the overall security level," Tony Snow told reporters in Maine.
The Transportation Security Administration has taken steps to raise alertness at some airports, Snow said. More TSA agents will be posted outside some terminals, he said.

I guess tht for some people, specially those who have been trained to believe that all religions are the same, it is hard for them to accept that there is a worldview that endorses suicide bombings as Islam does, and that promisses "virgins" by doing so. I'm not sure how to handle cases in which the families might be native born western citizens but in other cases, I think the west should consider automatically deporting the entire family of anyone caught in such jihad attacks in the west. If you're looking for concrete steps to take in order to induce communities to monitor their own, that would be one approach. Ignorance of what your kid is up to is no excuse. We already know how closely they follow their daughters' goings ons (including having taxi drivers monitor their whereabouts). We also know how they try to hunt down their own apostates. This indicates that they are quite aware of what goes on within their tight-knit families and communities. Imagine if a family knew that they could all be deported in the event of a jihadi attack by one of their children? Would that provide them with the needed incentive to be alert to signs that their kids are becoming "radicalized"?

Why not take your idea up one level, to the MOSQUE? This is not unreasonable, given most plots are hatched in the mosque. Why should non-Muslims have to police the Muslim community when Muslims are perfectly capable of doing it themselves. They can mind their p's and q's or they can skedaddle.
Someone in your mosque commits a terrorist act and all of you will go. The mosque will be shut down. People who don't want to be deported will avoid mosques where imams preach death to the West. If a member of your family attends that mosque you risk being sent back to dar-al-Islam for the actions of your family member.
With England's camera system, there will be no way they can say they aren't members of a mosque they are seen entering. They will keep an eye on their imams and sheikhs. They will keep an eye on their neighbors' children as well as their own.

It will be a long time before the US has such a defense, but there's no reason the British should not use every arrow in their quiver.
PMK - as outrageous as what you propose sounds - there's no getting around the fact that Muslims know EXACTLY what is going on within their communities. That's how they keep track of their women for one. So don't tell me any stories about how they didn't know who the local imam was, or didn't know which young men in the community were gravitating towards and spending a whole lot of time with the local imam on the Saudi bankroll. Bullshit! They are perfectly capable of murdering their daughters for "shaming" the community. I.E. they know EXACTLY what is going on with everyone within their tight-knit community. Which means they indeed recognize the signs of the young man who is spending a whole lot of time at the mosque and growing his beard and lecturing his friends and family that they aren't Islamic enough.
Bottom line is that if Muslims thought of their own jihadis the way they regarded their sexually wayward youth - there would be no problem.
But they don't. And therein lies the problem. Knowing the capacity they have to monitor their own when it MATTERS to them, it's quite clear that jihadi activity amongst them doesn't matter to them at all. Their selective indifference on this particular issue, when they show no such indifference in other matters which affect their community, makes them complicit and collectively responsible for the jihadis in their midst.
