Hamas captures Fatah security headquarters, claims control of northern Gaza

Someone should propose a "two-state solution" -- not with Israel, but between Hamas and Fatah. It would be instructively absurd, demonstrating that "sharing" land they feel absolutely entitled to will never be enough. If they can't share "Palestinian" land among themselves, how would they share with Israel in a two-state solution?

"Hamas captures Fatah security HQ," from the Jerusalem Post:

Hamas forces captured the headquarters of the Fatah-allied security forces in northern Gaza, seizing control of a key prize in the bloody power struggle between the sides, Hamas and Fatah officials said.
Hamas attacked the compound with mortars and automatic gunfire, and after several hours of battle, seized control, said Hamas commander Wael al-Shakra.
A Fatah security official confirmed the building had been lost. He said at least 10 people were killed and 30 wounded.
The attack was part of a full-scale assault launched by Hamas earlier Tuesday afternoon against Fatah security bases and positions in Gaza.
Hamas-affiliated television said that the organization overtook the entire northern section of the Gaza Strip. After airing the report, the station was attacked by PA security forces and forced to play pro-Fatah songs.
Israel Radio also reported that a top Fatah military official sent a message to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas stating that security forces were holding their ground, but calling on the Fatah leader to order an end to the current policy of restraint, allowing troops to return fire.
Less then an hour after the attack, Abbas called for an immediate cease-fire.
[...]
Also on Tuesday afternoon, Fatah announced that within several hours, the faction would decide whether to stay in the unity government with Hamas, or leave the Palestinian Authority government altogether, Israel Radio reported.
The announcement coincided with a Hamas attack on the National Security headquarters in Gaza, an incident which followed a recent threat of such action by the extremist Islamic faction. National Security is one of the armed forces affiliated with Fatah.
Hamas also announced that Fatah must evacuate all buildings used by Military Intelligence, the Revolutionary Guard, National Security and Preventive Security.
Hamas and Fatah signed a truce and agreed on setting up a unity government in Riyadh under the auspices of Saudi Arabia in March, but gunmen in Gaza took to the streets on numerous occasions since then and internecine bloodshed never ceased completely.

In the Land of the Living Dead
The Zombies Rule

Someone should propose a "two-state solution" -- not with Israel, but between Hamas and Fatah.
Marisol, that was priceless. But in reality, doesn't it already exist - Hamas in Gaza, Fatah in Ramallah? Maybe send in peacekeepers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan to keep the peace? Bind them with UN-like rules, like cannot fire first, maybe even have dis-armed peacekeepers. Or else, you never know - they could behave like actual UN peacekeepers in Congo.

Both sides have my full support in wiping each other out

...look for more attacks on Israel now....Also Hamas has been getting money and weapons from Iran...(even though, Iran weakly denies it)...

... we have just recently seen Hamas trying to capture more Israeli soldiers....I guess the other ones captured died..

....we will see...

I am amazed that no one has blamed Israel... yet. Got to be their fault, right?

I wouldn't be a bit suprised if Mahmoud Abbas, and the Fatah leadership, asks Israel to intervene to save them from Hamas.

If they do, Israel should demand that they ask for its support publicly before the whole world, and not in some secret meeting between Israeli and Fatah officials.

If they don't agree, let Hamas chew them up.

Remember the game capture the flag?

Oh I know a real good idea...

"Palestinian RISK" board game...

You can play Hamas, Fatah, or any of the assorted Islamic players in this mess.

"claims control of northern Gaza" this equates to about 2 square city blocks in Chicago.

Hamas Roooles..Fatah Drools.

Good - Hamas wins. Now we can get over Abbas and the idea of a 'moderate' Fatah.

"Hamas-affiliated television said that the organization overtook the entire northern section of the Gaza Strip. After airing the report, the station was attacked by PA security forces and forced to play pro-Fatah songs."

The news, mahometan-style. (Not that I haven't fantasized about doing the same to See-BS or the New Duranty Times) Restores the true meaning of "shoot the messenger, why don't you?".

I'm sorry, but I will not shed a tear for either side in this particular fight.

...Islam is for losers...

Now if Hamas killed Mahmoud Abbas, Condi & Bush might have seconds thoughts about a 2 state solution for the Middle East

It also might shut out EU funds...

1939 Alert here too (nazis taking the rest of Czechoslovakia)

Predictable...the peripheral players positioning for their inevitable assault on Israel in 3 1/2 weeks.
Too bad it didn't last longer than it did-I wished them a long and helathy war amongst themselves.

May as well get ready for the next phase, since the west bank will be their next target, just before the big hit (My advice to Israel-call up reservists now- quietly-ALL of them).

"Meet the New Boss.
Same as the Old Boss"
We won't get fooled again.......

You don't understand, any of you...these people clearly Deserve A State&trade

Ah, the peace of Islam,

Infidels arn't the only targets in Islam, they hate each other too.

If they can't keep "peace deals" with other Muslims, made in their holliest city (Meccah), how in the world will they keep peace deals with people they consider to be descendents of pigs and apes?

Oh, and I guess we can say that the euro-dhimmis who sent the jiziyah to "Palestine" are suporting warfare, heik?

One good thing:

If Fatah cease being part of Palestinian Government, then our stupid EU political
blockheads are likely to pause before handing over Euros....

Here is a "Bigger Lesson" for America:

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=56139

"One Palestinian security official told WND Fatah fighters today were "crying all day into their radios asking to be evacuated."

"They (Hamas)said they also took possession of eight American armored personnel carriers provided to Abbas' Fatah party the last few years."

"The U.S. had the past year given large quantities of weapons to bolster Fatah in clashes against Hamas. Hamas officials repeatedly told WND they would seize any American weaponry provided to Fatah in Gaza."

When I served on Shore Patrol in the Navy, we were given a night stick (tonfa) to carry on our belt. We ever carried it however because we were never trained to use one properly. We felt that we may end up only arming those we came across that DID know how to use them.

Israel better hurry up and make some concessions to strengthen the Fatah moderates. Right, Condi?

To UK Infidel Lover-

"I am amazed that no one has blamed Israel... yet. Got to be their fault, right?"

They already have blamed them. I read it in an earlier post.

"The Egyptian delegation to Gaza is attempting to calm the situation, with its head blaming “satanic elements” for fuelling the infighting in the Strip."

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/1,7340,L-3411025,00.html

The Egyptians blamed Satanic elements? No, it was Canine elements.

"Hamas also announced that Fatah must leave all buildings..." but, but, I thought the whole of Gaza was one big "refugee camp." How did those buildings get in the picture? I thought every Israeli-induced poverty stricken Palestinian lived in tiny tents, with only sand and dirt to eat. Yes, I know, from media film, that they have plenty of rifles and a good supply of burnt out cars to jump on...and plenty of free time for funerals too, as they kill each other off. Where did all that other stuff come from??

Another military triumph for the Bush-cum-Rice strategy in the "disputed" territories. The main one of course is the Bush & Co. one happening in Iraq right now.

In the latter, there is always the proud pointing to schools, hospitals, electricity and other infrastructure the American taxpayer is paying for.

Marisol-

The Two State Solution within "Palestine".

Well said!

Let them practice on themselves first.

And only after they prove their stability with handling that can any other "states" be discussed.

(BTW- Any relation to the Venezuelan sculptor "Marisol"?)

I see that Hamas and Fatah are killing each other... HEY! how about them Cardinals, do I see a pennant in their future? Glad now that I bought season tkts!

internecine bloodshed never ceased completely.

hey tbe same happens with the attacks on Israel, the islamist just keep on sending rockets over everyday, and now they do it to themselves.

Unbelievable all of the collosal mistakes the Israelis have made by letting Hamas participate in elections, by leaving Gaza the way they did, showing weakness etc - a breeding ground for Islamo-fascists...

This was soooo predictable. Lets hope they destroy each other and hope it spreads to Lebanon

UK Infidel Lover posts "I am amazed that no one has blamed Israel...yet."

Several weeks ago, on the nefarious far-left radio program "Democracy Now," the repellent, self-hating Jewish host of the program, Amy Goodman, had as a guest an Arab woman, a "journalist" with Al-Jazeera, who indeed blamed Israel for the factional carnage in Gaza, claiming that it ultimately derived from Israeli occupation, which made it impossible for the Palestinian Arabs to have a functional government. I heard this appalling garbage (no comments or questions from the host were forthcoming, from which one inferred that the host agreed with this view) with my own ears, but was not surprised. Nor should anyone else be.

Any relation to the Venezuelan sculptor "Marisol"? - profitsbeard

Thanks.

No, no relation. I just about got the hang of making ashtrays with Play-Dough... that's about the extent of my sculpting skills.

The chances of any Isreali soldier surviving after being captured by these excuses for humans is extremely remote they would not be able to control their bloodlust. Which means the guys in Lebanon and the guy in Isreal most probably met their painful end within hours if not days of capture depending on how much fun they were having torturing them. What they are now doing is trying to create the illusion they are alive so as to milk the tension and possibly stop the retribution tyhis is done as much by saying and showing nothing as it is by releasing video's. Then in about 10 - 15 years time they will offer to exchange the bones for 100's of Mobot terrorists and the Isreali Govt will comply.

Meanwhile--------------

Rice Suggests Israel Free PA Tax Money

(IsraelNN.com) American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has clearly implied that Israel should release all or part of $700 million in tax revenues collected for the Palestinian Authority (PA) but withheld in order to keep Hamas from having access to money. The United States has led a boycott against funding Hamas.

However, she told The Associated Press, "I understand the Israelis' concerns about what might happen to tax revenue, but we think that there are mechanisms that they could use in the ways that they have in the recent past to support important activities."

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert acceded to her request several months ago to release almost $100 million tax in revenues. He refused last week to agree to free more money, leading Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to cancel a planned meeting with him.

Let's give Fatah lot's more money and arm's, so that Hamas can take it away from them. They have Israel on their mind's.

How pleasant it is to have a 'feel good' item on the News for a change. Hamas killing Fatah and vice versa WONDERFUL.

That is a brilliant suggestion.

UK Infidel Lover posts "I am amazed that no one has blamed Israel...yet."

http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0%2C%2C2101677%2C00.html

But according to The Guardian, a UN official HAS blamed both Israel and the US for the failures of Hamas. If only we had agreed to finance a terrorist government none of this might have happened.

In January last year, the Quartet called on the newly elected Hamas government to commit to non-violence, recognise Israel and accept previous agreements. When Hamas refused to sign up to the principles, the international community halted direct funding to the Palestinian government and Israel started to freeze the monthly tax revenues that it had agreed to pass to the Palestinians. Several hundred million dollars remain frozen.

Mr de Soto, who had opposed the boycott, said this position "effectively transformed the Quartet from a negotiation-promoting foursome guided by a common document [the road map for peace] into a body that was all-but imposing sanctions on a freely elected government of a people under occupation as well as setting unattainable preconditions for dialogue".

He blames Israel for setting "unachievable preconditions" for talks. Who knew a moratorium on suicide bombs or rocket attacks was unachievable? Who knew that a freely elected government was incapable of recognizing another freely elected government?

How IS a government freely elected by people who are also under occupation?

Now, all the arms and ammunition the clever ones in our government gave to the Abbas/Fatah terrorists are falling into the hands of the Hamas terrorists. Isn't that lovely. And we want to sell arms to Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia to help stabilize the Middle East for our friend and ally, Israel?

Government stupidity has become limitless.
