The United Nations Security Council postponed the releases of a statement condemning Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's latest calls for the destruction of Israel late Friday night after both Indonesia and Qatar opposed the move.
Representatives of the 15 permanent member countries have requested to adopt a unanimous decision regarding Ahmadinejad's speech made on Sunday. According to the report, Qatari representatives had yet to receive permission to support the move. Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim country, had trouble with the wording of the denunciation.
France's UN Ambassador Jean-Marc de La Sabliere, who called for condemnation of the remarks attributed to Ahmadinejad, said it was unfortunate that the council could not act immediately. But he said he would try again on Monday to get all 15 council members to approve the statement.
"At stake is ... a real question of principle. When the president of a country talks about the destruction of another country, a member of the United Nations, this is a serious issue," de La Sabliere said.
What are we doing futzing around with the Useless Nations when it comes to matters which affect security? There are way too many Islamic countries and their pals there. Instead, we should rely more on NATO, or form an anti-jihad defense block of some kind.

Note that Qatar is supposedly an American ally because it permits the stationing of American troops. In fact, Qatar harbors and supports what is equivalent to Radio Berlin in 1942: Al-Jazeera. A member of the Al-Thani family, an Al Qaeda sympathizer, warned some members of Al Qaeda in Qatar that the Americans were hot on their trail, and having been warned, they managed to escape. Neither the attempts to pretend to be an advanced country (the usual methods of these Arab statelets is to sponsor a some kind of competition, chess or tennis or something, with a big prize so as to inveigle some well-known Westerneres to attend -- that's "civilization" Arab-sheikdom style) nor the odd member of th eAl-Thani ruling family, said to be a "fighter for women's rights" or some such, should blind American policymakers ot this: Qatar, like Kuwait, allows American troops to stay there only because the ruling families in those statelets see the Americans as a guarantee of their safety, able apotropaically to ward off threats from the Three Big Bullies of the Gulf: Iran, Iraq, andof course, Saudi Arabia. And that is the only reason Qatar allows American troops in.

The guy is right but in order to succumb to this stuff you have to be a mental weakling or a person teetering on the edge of sanity for whatever reason, and that fairly describes much of our leadership as well as world leadership today. I don’t think they counted on the islamists coming along and attempting to wipe us out and that realization works to our benefit. So while many as we see have become ensnared in the trap the rest of us are not so easily led to our deaths. I never thought I would have something to thank the islamists for (wake up call) but… Thanks guys!
