Perhaps I should have added that the BBC TV news bulletins are more informative than the reports on the BBC website. The one I saw included an interview with the BBC's 'security expert', who did not try to hide the fact that the attempted attack was probably the work of muslims.

According to the polls nearly a quarter of british muslims support these terror attacks, so they have the numbers to carry out many more, but they don't.
They could attack every day yet for some reason they don't. Is there a reason for this?
I wonder if they re they keeping the jihad at a low level so they don't overstay their welcome too soon? People wouldn't tolerate a constant barriage of terror attacks, but might put up withe the occasional one.

If Tiger Tiger was the intended target, then potentially it could have been deadly. The club has five floors, multiple bars and dance floors, and even on weeknights it's packed out. It's quite cheap, and popular with office and shop workers in the area, as well as tourists and midweek clubbers.

There was an academic on Sky News just now - might have been the same guy - drily explaining the explosive qualities of the device.
From what he said, its potential effects sounded similar to those of the fuel-air bombs used by the military. Vaporize a liquid fuel, ignite it, and you get a blast way more devastating and widespread than with conventional munitions.

AL-QAEDA leaders in Iraq are planning the first “large-scale” terrorist attacks on Britain and other western targets with the help of supporters in Iran, according to a leaked intelligence report.
Spy chiefs warn that one operative had said he was planning an attack on “a par with Hiroshima and Nagasaki” in an attempt to “shake the Roman throne”, a reference to the West.
Another plot could be timed to coincide with Tony Blair stepping down as prime minister, an event described by Al-Qaeda planners as a “change in the head of the company”.
The report, produced earlier this month and seen by The Sunday Times, appears to provide evidence that Al-Qaeda is active in Iran and has ambitions far beyond the improvised attacks it has been waging against British and American soldiers in Iraq.
There is no evidence of a formal relationship between Al-Qaeda, a Sunni group, and the Shi’ite regime of President Mah-moud Ahmadinejad, but experts suggest that Iran’s leaders may be turning a blind eye to the terrorist organisation’s activities.
The intelligence report also makes it clear that senior Al-Qaeda figures in the region have been in recent contact with operatives in Britain.
It follows revelations last year that up to 150 Britons had travelled to Iraq to fight as part of Al-Qaeda’s “foreign legion”. A number are thought to have returned to the UK, after receiving terrorist training, to form sleeper cells.
The report was compiled by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) - based at MI5’s London headquarters - and provides a quarterly review of the international terror threat to Britain. It draws a distinction between Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda’s core leadership, who are thought to be hiding on the Afghan-Pakistan border, and affiliated organisations elsewhere.
The document states: “While networks linked to AQ [Al-Qaeda] Core pose the greatest threat to the UK, the intelligence during this quarter has highlighted the potential threat from other areas, particularly AQI [Al-Qaeda in Iraq].”
The report continues: “Recent reporting has described AQI’s Kurdish network in Iran planning what we believe may be a large-scale attack against a western target.
“A member of this network is reportedly involved in an operation which he believes requires AQ Core authorisation. He claims the operation will be on ‘a par with Hiroshima and Naga-saki’ and will ‘shake the Roman throne’. We assess that this operation is most likely to be a large-scale, mass casualty attack against the West.”
The report says there is “no indication” this attack would specifically target Britain, “although we are aware that AQI . . . networks are active in the UK”.
Analysts believe the reference to Hiroshima and Naga-saki, where more than 200,000 people died in nuclear attacks on Japan at the end of the second world war, is unlikely to be a literal boast.
“It could be just a reference to a huge explosion,” said a counter-terrorist source. “They [Al-Qaeda] have got to do something soon that is radical otherwise they start losing credibility.”
Despite aspiring to a nuclear capability, Al-Qaeda is not thought to have acquired weapons grade material. However, several plots involving “dirty bombs” - conventional explosive devices surrounded by radioactive material - have been foiled.
Last year Al-Qaeda’s leader in Iraq called on nuclear scientists to apply their knowledge of biological and radiological weapons to “the field of jihad”.
Details of a separate plot to attack Britain, “ideally” before Blair steps down this summer, were contained in a letter written by Abdul al-Hadi al-Iraqi, an Iraqi Kurd and senior Al-Qaeda commander.
According to the JTAC document, Hadi “stressed the need to take care to ensure that the attack was successful and on a large scale”. The plan was to be relayed to an Iran-based Al-Qaeda facilitator.
The Home Office declined to comment.

As much as I support anti-Jihad efforts, limiting immigration, profiling, etc - am I the only one to find the whole story a little odd? It seems that a true Al Qaeda plot is carefully planned; the fact that it failed suggests it was not their evil hand involved. Then, who? Homegrown terrorists? Maybe; or maybe someone who would benefit from the appearance of a major attack. I'm not blaming anybody just saying that the fact this failed seems significant - you get the effect of the terror without the loss of life. Luck? Maybe; maybe not.

I want to thank Robert, this site and all of you who through your intelligence, wit and dedication have, after almost 2 years opened my eyes and my mind to the horror that is Islam. I am also glad to finally have internet access from my home (don't ask why it took so long) and be able to comment and interact with all of you. THANK GOD FOR AMERICA!! To start out on my first dialogue I find the hypocritical thinking of Islam to be the biggrest warning sign to anyone with a brain that there is something very wrong with Islam and its teachings. I find the whole concept of anal sex disgusting but to use it as punishment against another man in order to get him to join a "religion" that has dire punishment for commiting such an atrocity is ....well I just can't seem to wrap my dhimmi mind around it. It is time to take serious measures to stop this from becoming the norm, although I think it may be too late for large swaths of the planet. It's about what makes the suicide bombers become the turds that they are.
It tells of things like one female bomber who right before she was to go on her mission they asked if she had any money and they took it.After she got caught she realized she was used in more ways than one.

I believe CNN (The Situation Room) showed a clip today -- it was a male would-be suicide bomber. And, of course, the CNN Dhimmi slant was that such poor little critters shouldn't be jailed. All that happens is that they get toughened. It's the usual -- "O what to do!? don't jail the innocents!" Yeah, let them out so they can blow themselves up and murder Israelis.
But this particular slant may just be a reflection of CNN's Dhimmitude (and not truly representative of the researcher's work.)
Have to read the actual research findings. (btw, from what I read "sociopaths" or "psychopaths" are not considered "crazy" -- they are in North America considered fully functional, sane for reasons of being charged with crimes, etc. That's why a psychopathic serial killer can't plead insanity or go to a mental institution. they are NOT delusion, not psychotic. Psychopathy is a personality disorder, not a psychotic illness. A true, psychotic illness would render them incapable of understanding right from wrong, they would be "delusional", i.e., suffering from hallucinations/hearing voices, etc. Psychopaths are fully functioning, -- no hallucinations, no delusions -- and capable, many living "normal" lives. The people of London have been fortunate this time. Fortunate not because of the alertness shown by an ambulance driver called to an incident nearby. I also wonder about psychopaths and the need for an adrenaline rush (this has been documented).
