It would not surprise me to see iranian engineers invited to this country and working on just such projects in places like Los Alamos as a result of this outreach.
Even though, as the Human species, we have evolved through our Reason to administer some control as to our place in the universe, we are still guided by the natural processes of existence of which is the tendency to eliminate the mutations that would eventually hurt the species. We let chinese spies into Low Alamos since the 1990s, they pass it onto their north korean sock-puppets, and the north koreans have a working nuke deal with the iranians.
