Islamic courses 'can breed radicals'

This should of course come as a shock to everyone who is sure that Islam is a religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims reject the jihadist understanding of the religion. If that were so, would it really have been so easy for jihadists to gain such a large presence on British university campuses? After all, wouldn't they have met stiff resistance from those who hold to the true, peaceful teachings of Islam?

But in reality, of course, jihadism builds on a broad tradition within Islam that teaches violence against and the subjugation of unbelievers, and without explicitly and clearly renouncing and resisting that tradition, peaceful Muslims have no strong foundation from which they can resist jihadist incursion.

By Graeme Paton in the Telegraph, with thanks to all who sent this in:

Islamic studies departments at British universities may be fuelling extremism among students, according to a Government report.

In a major review of the way Islam is taught on campuses, ministers will today call for courses to be improved to stop students being exposed to teaching that condones terrorism.

The report will also suggest that a network of Muslim faith advisers should be created to give impressionable youngsters spiritual guidance - and stop them falling under the influence of radicals. The move comes amid growing fears that universities and colleges are being infiltrated by fanatics recruiting for jihad.

Sheikh Musa Admani, the Muslim chaplain at London Metropolitan University and an adviser to Bill Rammell, the higher education minister, said he was aware of at least four universities in which students had been "groomed" by extremists.

Other experts suggest the number is as high as 25. Some students had gone to Iraq and Afghanistan to fight, it is claimed.

Ataullah Siddiqui, director of the Markfield Institute of Higher Education, a research body, was asked to review the standards of Islamic studies courses as well as the quality of religious teaching from student Islamic societies and chaplains. Today's report is expected to criticise courses for failing to present Islam as a faith that can co-exist with other religions.

Mr Rammell admitted some students were being "exposed to teachings that either explicitly condone terrorism or foster a climate of opinion that is at least sympathetic to terrorists' motivation"....

Where the rubber meets the road - the energy generated when the islamic exhortations to jihad mix with the left's disdain for our values under the guise of 'multiculturalism' - a lethal mix emanating from the universities.

What a den of vipers !

"The move comes amid growing fears that universities and colleges are being infiltrated by fanatics recruiting for jihad."

...it is not a fear, it is a fact....

What's the name of the 'Government Report'? Is it online? Is there anywhere on the web that is actively catologing these kind of reports and providing a forum for the thorough criticism of government policy and practise and think tank 'guidance'? If not then we need to establish one.

And not to be outdone, isn't the city of New York ready to open an "Arabic" high school in the Fall, whose organizers and staff include Muslims with radical backgrounds? Why wait for college? Why not get the little darlings indoctrinated before they reach that stage? Their minds are even more impressionable. Remember the courses throughout the US for grade school children to "Become A Muslim" for six weeks, or for one night, as the photo showed on Dhimmi Watch a few days ago.

Lot's of luck with that, the cats's already out of the bag...if they dont get it at school, they will get it at home. How can you learn about Islam if you dont have a Quran? If you have a Quran how can you miss the war verses ect? A sanitized version of Islam, is not Islam.
Maybe they should stop teaching Islam on campuses altogether...

Interesting article from Pakistan, they're actually admitting that the radicals have the scriptures on their side and that the so-called moderates cannot challenge them because then they would committ blasphemy:

There is a lot of confusion in Pakistan over understanding the nature of violence in the country. What the Taliban want in the Tribal Areas is articulated in the mosques of the big cities in the settled areas. At any given time in Lahore, for instance, you will hear demands for the setting up of precisely the kind of governance demanded by the Taliban and implemented in the tribal areas. Most of us think that this kind of worldview in Lahore comes from fringe elements, but on close examination more and more people are embracing this discourse as their key to replacing the present “America-enslaved” system.

Most of us shy away from disputing this worldview with the clergy because the clergy quotes the Quran and hadith, thus exposing us to the possibility of blasphemy through repudiating the scripture. This is the “winning” discourse in Pakistan and elsewhere in the Islamic world — and the expatriate Muslim communities now at odds with the societies in which they live.

This discourse comes to the fore on a daily basis through the nostalgic Urdu columns praising the “Golden Age of the Taliban rule” when “you could travel across Afghanistan with a box of jewellery without being robbed”.

Are females really that dumb?

Sheik:

I'm trying to figure out what this has to do with the article above, or with Jihad.

OT to Sheik yer'mami:

"But how dumb are women really?"--Sheik yer'mami

How dumb are you, Sheik, to ask a question that amounts to a blanket indictment of all women?

I appreciate your wit and creativity, so I am doubly disappointed in your feeling the need to post this item to Jihad Watch. Your lack of chivalry, in this regard is astonishing.

How dumb are women, really? Without cracking a dictionary: The term "suffrage" has its root in "to suffer" in the secondary sense of "suffer" being "to allow". (You know, like, "Suffer the children to come unto Me, and forbid them not.") Suffrage is anything that is allowed by someone who dominates another.

Women's Suffrage is not women's right to vote. "Women's Suffrage" was the name of the movement by women demanding their *right* to vote. Women's Suffrage exists only in the past, rather like the Boston Tea Party.

The successful result of the Women's Suffrage movement is the nineteenth amendment to The Constitution of the United States, which reads:

"The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

Sheik, I am a mere high school graduate. The commentary above is an example of how dumb I am.

But, how dumb were these oh-so-cute college boys who thought Women's Suffrage was a woman's right to vote?

More importantly--where do 'men' like these acquire the kind of misogyny necessary to try to make women look like fools?

And by the way, where is the footage of the women who told the interviewer to pound sand?

OT...sort of...A serious student of Islam needs to know this:
According to Tabari, Allah created woman stupid, because of what Eve did in the garden. Not only that but he made woman bleed once a month because Eve slashed the tree and made it bleed.
This does not apply to infidel woman, because when that happened, there were no infidels.

Islamic courses 'can breed radicals'

Yuh think ? !?!

Islamic courses 'can breed radicals'

Yuh think ? !?!

Islam cannot yet produce anything but radicals.

If taught strictly.

Which should lead to the question:

-when will they go home and fix their schism?

They're becoming too expensive to host.

Establishing Islamic "courses" (ostensibly to propagandize Americans about Islam) in colleges and various other schools throughout America is one of Islam's tactics to take over America by 2020. These folks (the REAL 'fanatics') mean business and intend to establish thousands of such propaganda centers.

So, beware!

Abscedere,

I knew that somebody like you would deliberately turn this against me in spite of the fact that I wrote: 'Unfortunately men are even dumber because they often follow such women.'

There you have your disclaimer. That you still insist on making it a one-sided affair is not a good omen for the future of the sexes...
