Israel plans attack on Gaza

Any Hamas provocation will trigger an Israeli invasion. By Uzi Mahnaimi for the Times Online:

ISRAEL’s new defence minister Ehud Barak is planning an attack on Gaza within weeks to crush the Hamas militants who have seized power there.

According to senior Israeli military sources, the plan calls for 20,000 troops to destroy much of Hamas’s military capability in days.

The raid would be triggered by Hamas rocket attacks against Israel or a resumption of suicide bombings.

Barak, who is expected to become defence minister tomorrow, has already demanded detailed plans to deploy two armoured divisions and an infantry division, accompanied by assault drones and F-16 jets, against Hamas.

A source close to Barak said that Israel could not tolerate an aggressive “Hamastan” on its border and an attack seemed unavoidable.

“The question is not if but how and when,” he said.

The provocation will surely come. I wonder about the response.

Goody!

Memo to the IDF:

Ignore the fatuous, self-serving buffoons in our (US) government and media, and do what you need to do. May G-d steady your aim and watch your backs.

There are plenty of us who understand, and wish you well.

Do they even need to? Ham-ass seem to be doing a pretty good job of 1) winnowing the population of Gaza and 2) reducing to an even greater state of rubbleification than previously.

Go Israel!!!

Israel has got something for you ham-ass!

Greetings:

It's good to see someone, who understands that the best defense is a good offense, back in the saddle again.

Infidel_Dog, that is awesome!!

Hamas has lost its "democratically-elected" credentials, ceding to Israel the moral high ground. All the same, everyone does realize that Syria, Iran, and Hizbollah will attack Israel upon an invasion of Gaza, right?

Yes, and they will prove in the process that they were not paying attention the past 59 years.

Yes, and they will prove in the process that they were not paying attention the past 59 years.

Israel should take this opportunity to crush the military power of the "Palestinians" when the opportunity arises -- and here the Western world will have to hold its tongue, as will the U.N., for, at least for now, because a soap opera has been composed, and for Fatah to be depicted as a the hero of the tiresome, endless "Palestinian" melodrama, logically Hamas must be portrayed as the villain. So Israel is right to take advantage of this.

But then what? Then the Slow Jihadists will reassert thmselves in Gaza, come out of of where they are currently quivering. And then the Western world, so delighted at this outcome, and being persuaded -- hell, it won't take any persuading -- that in order to make sure that Fatah remains, for all time, back in the saddle again, while pile the goodies -- money of all kinds, goods and NGO services of all kinds, and of course, weaponry to "keep the peace" in Gaz and the "West Bank."

But that's not all. O no. Now is the time, "now that Hamas has been crushed and Fatah has been able to show its true, its pragmatic, its moderate face" and what's more, to "work tirelessly toward the 'only conceivable solution -(that is, the two-state solution'), for Israel to "show itself a true partner for peace" and to make "difficult but necessary concessions" (fill in the weasel phrases of those who are indifferent to Israel's situation, Israel's state of permanent imperilment, Israel's tiny size and non-existent oil, Israel's need to control its water supply, and the invasion routes to its south and from the east -- oh, who cares, in the Western world, about any of that, as long as the "Palestinians" and therefore the Arabs, and therefore the Muslims -- so it is absurdly thought, are placated by throwing Israel to the wolves.

Crush Hamas. But plan now to avoid the very scenario sketched above. Talk about it now, mock it now, and thereby make it that much harder for it to come to pass.

pile the money onto Fatah now back in the saddle in Gaza, and to ensure that wonderful corrupt Slow-Jihad Fatah stays in power, and sole-repository-of-all-that-is-bad-and-dangerous Fast-Jihad Hamas never challenges the cleverer and more corrupt Slow-Jihad Fatah again, the American government, the "Quartet," the entire world, puts pressure for yet more concessions by Israel to nice Fatah, good Fatah, pragmatic moderate trustworthy peace-process-loving Fatah?

What happens if/when Israel destroys Hamas? Fatah isn't much better. Looks like Israel will be Fatah's mercenary-much to Abbas' delight. Abbas will get rid of his most dangerous enemy and it won't cost him a thing.
