JFK plot: "Even the Twin Towers can’t touch it...this can destroy the economy of America for some time"

Glorying in destruction. More on the JFK plot from WNBC.com:

In discussing JFK airport as a target, Defreitas exulted over JFK airport’s symbolic importance, according to a U.S. Justice Department complaint:

"Anytime you hit Kennedy, it is the most hurtful thing to the United States. To hit John F. Kennedy, wow .... They love John F. Kennedy like he’s the man .... If you hit that, this whole country will be in mourning. It’s like you can kill the man twice. "

In a later recorded conversation with his coconspirators in May 2007, Defreitas compared the plot to attack JFK airport to the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, stating, “even the Twin Towers can’t touch it,” adding that, “this can destroy the economy of America for some time.”

Sources said the planning stages of the plot involved surveillance of JFK airport as well as scouting out US properties in Guyana for possible attacks.

They are peddling this as amateurs fighting against The USA's support of Israel , Something the left can get behind. It cannot be jihad terrorism.

Personally, I am way beyond being chilled, shocked, surprised, stunned or flabbergasted with anything the islamists dream up. I guess all this time at JW has made me a hardened jihadwatcher.

A quick query on news.google with the search term, "JFK Islamist" gives only five news items relating to the JFK Terror Plot at this time...

Interesting how the news is spending all this time and effort to report on this incident, yet they are blatantly ignoring the question that is on everybody's mind...

Cheers,

"If you hit that, this whole country will be in mourning."

These slugs are making a terrible mistake, for them anyway. They think that the average American is just like POTUS, Condi, and all the rest. The average American will not mourn another attack. The common folk I encounter every day are just one big attack away from solving the problem the only way they know how. The general perception is that we are being ignored, and no government leader, elected or appointed, gives a damn. Look at their attitude towards us concerning the new immigration bill.

Today, my son and I went to an indoor gun range/store to create some air pollution and heavy metal waste. This establishment is also a state certified weapons trainer. There were twenty to twenty-five people there getting their prerequisite certification towards a firearms carry permit. I counted ten women. These truly liberated females were alone or with other women.

Who will protect you, Hillary C. or the armed lady next door?

Imported Trouble. Just what we need. Part of that 30% I suppose.

the great Richard Clarke, you know the idiot who worked for a bunch of presidents who was more concerned about the so called computer crash of theyear 2,000 than he was over islamic terrorism, well he said the destructin of JFK would not be much of incident not like the Twin Towers. he just scoffed it off, no wonder he retired to be armchair mouthpiece of ABC news. to bad the news people dont get real experts like Robert or Hugh.

The comments are beginning to come in...such as, "They really couldn't have done that much damage; safe guards are in place in those pipelines,"and "they were wannabees, not the real thing" and, from a daughter of one of the accused, "They are doing this against my father just because he is Muslim." By tomorrow, if not sooner, CAIR will have their PR machine in place..'we can't rush to judgment,' 'these were just lone wolves who were not associated with any mosque,'.... In the meantime, some of the government talking heads continue to urge people to come forward with information. They repeat, "Ordinary citizens are still our best line of defense." Yes, until CAIR and the ACLU get a hold of an informant and charge him/her with a hate crime.

America is amazingly much stronger, and resilient then these narrow minded fools believe.

A country that has a population over 300 million on a land that covers over 3.7 million square miles. A land that is doted with thousands of little towns and large cities will stand tall.

The real American is quiet, and he may not be totally awake to what is occurring among a strange and dangerous ideology, he is trying to go about his daily life, taking his kids to school,he helps coach a little league baseball team,he cooks the hamburgers, and the hot dogs at a family picnic in the town park,he goes to work and every day he puts money aside for his kids colleges, he takes the family on camp outs to America's great national parks, but most of all he is strong and he knows what has made this country great and when the strikes began to occur, watch out because he is going to defend his land, his family, and his freedoms at all costs, and he will realize when the government cannot do it alone and he will be there.

"....If you hit that, this whole country will be in mourning. It’s like you can kill the man twice"....from headline.

Not only are these plans horrific in nature, but they sound so sadistic to me; as I can almost hear the pleasure he gets in stating these plans. How can someone be so evil.

From the original AP story by Adam Goldman:

"Authorities said they were motivated by a pattern of hatred toward the U.S., Israel and the West."

Damn!I had a Feeling it was our fault!!

"To hit John F. Kennedy, wow .... They love John F. Kennedy like he’s the man"

I mean JFK was alright but come on "the man". I can name at least 10 presidents from history who did more and were more important.

These jihadi have been living with Kennedy groupies too long.

I hate to think of the potential death tolls and loss of innocent lives, however I know that an event on this scale would have to open the eyes of even the most liberal thinking person.

No sane person can hope or wish to have an event like this take place, but I believe the Islamists are only one or two devastating terror attacks away from their own annhialation.

A serious response will erupt, my only concern is with the schizophrenic policies of the US who would they go after? Somehow I doubt it would be Saudi Arabia or Pakistan.

Posted by The fanatic: "however I know that an event on this scale would have to open the eyes of even the most liberal thinking person."

Well, all the liberal thinking persons sure went back to sleep awful quick since 9/11.

These types today will tell you "oh they arn't real muslims" or "that's not what islam is about" or as I heard the talking heads on TV today say "we must investigate to understand why these men were so easily radicalized, what happened?"

Oh my, what happened? I wonder. We'll probably never know.

I am just a little guy in this big bad world but the little guys need to start talking it up everywhere he finds himself. Kind of like that movie were everyone started yelling out the window "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

The media is blind or does not believe it or sympathizes with the Islam terrorists. They and the whole world need to hear from the little guy. So I am asking everyone that reads this to get the word out and correct the twisted thinking about what is behind this.

The country does not know who the enemy is yet.

"They love John F. Kennedy like he’s the man .... If you hit that, this whole country will be in mourning. It’s like you can kill the man twice."

How little they understand. It's an AIRPORT!!! It was renamed for the guy but it has no great emotional attachment. It has nothing to do with the former president. We have a JFK BLVD in this state. Big deal. It's just a STREET NAME.

You won't be killing JFK. You'll only be killing any chance of a future for Muslims anywhere in America.

“even the Twin Towers can’t touch it,” adding that, “this can destroy the economy of America for some time.”

Hey Muslims, careful what you wish for. You just might get it. You can dig yourselves out of the next earthquake you suffer. There won't be anything coming to you from America.

Already there was a Guyanan activist on Fox telling Americans: we don't want a backlash.

It never occurred to me to blame all Guyanans for what these people were planning but these activists leave a bad taste in my mouth. There they are assuming the worst about Americans when it was their countrymen who were planning a despicable act that might have destroyed many lives of people who meant them no harm and had welcomed them into this country.

Activists: SHUT UP. You only hurt your cause.

JW: Please excuse the vent.

"The general perception is that we are being ignored, and no government leader, elected or appointed, gives a damn." -- Pelayo, above.

It is more-or-less my perception, but I'm not sure it is a general one. I think folks hearing this news say, "Well... what did they want?" And the answer does not come trippingly off the tongue, "Islam is a supremist organization." No, people will take seriously the current grievance. Will they come to believe that all will be well when Americans (who Ron Paul believes are receiving understandable blowback) are out of Baghdad or when the Jews are sent packing from Jerusalem?

We are still a long way from a general recognition of the evil, a long way before Ibrahim Hooper is arrested and placed in a tiny cell for working toward Islamic domination. Hell, we're a long way from understanding what is and is not an inferior culture.

There is no God but God, and Mohammed was his excrement.

"I mean JFK was alright but come on "the man". I can name at least 10 presidents from history who did more and were more important."

greatcometof1577,

My exact thoughts, you just beat me to it. I remember JFK quite well. He and his wife lent glamour to the White House, but he was hardly a great President.

The problem is that all the 1960s students have grown up, and now they're the professors at our universities. I think they glorify JFK as a way of glorifying themselves. They've done a good job of it though, many young people today think they missed some kind of golden age in the 60s, and that JFK ranked somewhere with Washington and FDR in greatness.

These people disgust me. Is the death penalty appropriate and is it likely if found guilty?

Insufficient attention has been made to the many statements by Bin Laden about the cost to the American economy of the 9/11/2001 attacks, and about the need to further damage that economy. Think of the tens of billions spent annually on Homeland Security, on guarding churches and synagogues, government office buildings, symbols of the United States such as the Statue of Liberty and a hundred other places, airports and airplanes, train stations and trains, bus stations and busses, schools of every kind. Think of the vast sums spent on surveillance cameras, on police, on the lawyers and judges and prison guards all involved in terrorism cases -- those that succeed, those that do not.

Now think of the greatest expense of all so far -- the $880 billion spent in Iraq, as if Iraq were a major theatre of the world-wide war of self-defense against those who participate, directly or indirectly, in promoting Jihad against the Infidels. $880 billion is more than the total cost of all the wars, excepting World War II, ever fought by the United States.

Doesn't this do damage? Isn't this kind of expense preventing other much more effective measures from being taken? What would $880 billion or $440 billion, or $220 billion, or $110 billion, accomplish if plowed into solar and wind and nuclear energy projects, subsidies to mass transit, energy-saving programs of every kind, that would be useful here, and useful if advances made were to be shared with other oil-consuming nations. What would that do to the Money Weapon of the Jihad?

General Petraeus, and all the other generals occupied or preoccupied with Iraq, are not permitted to step back, to consider not the immediate situation, but the larger war, and how that declared "mission" in Iraq does or does not promote American and Infidel interests. They are concerned with war-making, not with the economic damage that that war-making causes to the United States. One more reason why the war in Iraq must be seen not by those actually fighting that war day-to-day, but by those who have the leisure and distance to question the very nature of that mission in Iraq, its attainability and its sense, and to recognize that the damage now being inflicted, is being inflicted because our rulers are obstinately wedded to, no doubt horribly embarrassed by, their own miscomprehension and exaggeration and confusion over what can, and what cannot, be done to weaken the Camp of Islam in Iraq.

Economic warfare is not being made on the enemy. Brains are not being wracked night and day to figure out how to diminish Arab and Muslim revenues, and to use up, or seize, more of those Mudlim oil and gas revenues, and to force the rich Arabs to cease to suppoort Da'wa and sinister anti-Infidel propaganda throughout the Western world (see the Freedom House study of the Saudi-financed hate literature that investigators found in American mosques).

The "Kennedy Legacy" is media hype. ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. have pushed the "Camelot" legend. The truth about JFK and his habits and vices is out. "Camelot" never was.
Too bad the citizens of Massachusetts keep electing the "swimmer", I guess he brings home the pork, but good Lord, he has been destructive to the USA.

"These people disgust me. Is the death penalty appropriate and is it likely if found guilty?"

payingattention,

I believe that the U.S. constitution specifically mandates death for treason, so it is certainly appropriate in the case of the captured U.S. citizen.

But then, who pays any attention to the constitution now days? Political correctness trumps the constitution everytime. We should know that by now.

I doubt that the U.S. government would risk offending Muslims, foreign or domestic, by charging a Muslim with treason and demanding the death penalty, no matter what the constitution says.

Interesting freeper thread from a few years back that involves the Muslim Guyanese politician accused in the plot, Abdul Kadir.

Here in Australia on the news....not one mention, that I found, that these people were muslim.
I had to get on line for that.............talk about heads in the sand and appeasement.

A serious response will erupt, my only concern is with the schizophrenic policies of the US who would they go after? Somehow I doubt it would be Saudi Arabia or Pakistan.
Posted by: The fanatic

Tancredo or Romeny would. Next time they ask the question re. response to an attack and someone like Hitlery says 'retaliate' they need to ask HOW would you retaliate?

Another day, another muslim plan for world peace...

So...we are looking at an islumic group from Trinidad, Jamaat al muslimeen...

Seems they have a branch in Baltimore, anyone thought to give them a knock?

http://maps.citysearch.com/map/view/43295147

Or just knock the building down.

Hey, it's an election year....... so of course there will be terror threats, plots and more keystone cop techniques. BTW, a real cop said it would have been a dud even if this so called plot had succeeded. Meanwhile the borders are porous, the Constitution is being shredded and We are advised to "buy duct tape and go shopping."

"marilyn" in Australia: I always e-mail either the reporter or the newspaper if they don't use the word "Muslim." The more voices who bother to do this -it's important - the better.

Of course we know they're Muslim, but that's not the point. The point is they, the News Media, have to SAY MUSLIM instead of "men" and "people" and "plotters" and "suspects" and "homegrown terrorists" - have I left any of the usual euphemisms out?

At least in the lead story by Adam Goldman of the PC "NYT" he says "Muslim terrorist cell" within his first sentence! I like to think that after all the e-mails I've sent to the "NYT" concerning their insane PC language about Muslims, that perhaps I contributed to him actually using the word "Muslim."

"marily" - e-mail as many of your PC Dhimmi News Sources as possible. Australia is in big trouble these days concerning Muslims.

Everyone, Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace is going to have someone on at the end of the hour to speak on "the nature of Islam." I kid you not! I will be watching and if some PC clown starts mouthing off a bunch of crap I will be e-mailing Chris Wallace, that's for sure.

I would you bet you Chris Wallace has never opened a Koran and doesn't know squat about the "nature of Islam."

So, we'll see.

The Mooselimbs are playin with fire, and they will get burned. When will the world open their eyes and realize that we are at war? Goodness!!

Do we ned another 9/11? Do we need another Madrid? Do we need another 7/7 ?

I just caught a telephone interview of Abdul Kadir's wife on CNN. She and Abdul are good Shia Muslims who have two children studying Islamic Theology in IRAN!

She believes her husband was set up, of course. But declined to comment further saying only that she is a "good Muslim."

That "good Muslim" disclaimer discalims nothing. It merely explains why she and Abdul are in the news.

Wonder if Hugo and Company have anything to do with the Iranian Shia Connection to this plot?

...no, they did not...they began Bush Bashing and have continued Bush Bashing ever since....

Is this what President Bush means by "doing jobs Americans won't do?" As I posted elsewhere, where is the ruthlessness in our government's actions to rid our country of these people and truly take the "War on (Islamic) Terror to the very terrorists? So we are fighting in Iraq to keep from fighting them here? I think they're already here: Lackawanna, Ft. Dix, JFK, etc. This country is doomed if we keep this "war on terror" as status quo. And don't count on the FBI to keep you safe. They've been riding on a reputation that's fifty years old and based on busting bank robbers. Seems the only thing we have in our favor is dumb luck.

"Seems the only thing we have in our favor is dumb luck."

Dumb is right. Many of the recent would-be Muhammad Attas were brought down by their own stupidity, not by any great detective work.

They said JFK air port not target! Nothing was the target! What ever burned burned!

They also said it once on Fox, they said, Kennedy said those words in a speech first, it's like killing the man twice! Now Fox says, chilling words!....?

They need to Nuke a city and maybe the tired people who work all day may wake up to actually having an opinion on the dangers we are in by not being soft on immigrants who really don't like liberty but are here to take it away.

As bad as it sounds I in a way want a really bad terrorist attack maybe not kill people, but effect the economy so that we stop being soft at home. 9/11 was no wake up call because people are too tired to think about it these days on top of the problems people have to face anyway in their lives. We need to say no to muslim demands, not even putting a cross down for them but unlike Jesus fact or fiction in your eyes they would not put them selves on the cross for you they will put you on it instead. Maybe we should have John the baptist up, the Romans cut his head off for speaking out loud.

Time to encourage Muslims to return to Mecca and sort out their homicidal schism there.

We can do without the added trouble of their expensive presence.

PMK, I'm slightly old enough to remember Kennedy airport as Idlewild before 1963. They dared not rename LaGuardia. Mohammedans put much importance in the significance religious places; they would naturally assume we do the same. To them a mosque is more than an armory, it's a religious icon of such vast importance that a poorly built mosque is more valuable than life itself. I was raised a Methodist, a mosque is just a building, and the typical mosque is an ugly one at that.

Without having any of the details of JFK`s layout I would say that the total destruction of the airport and parts of Manhattan sound a bit hyperbolic. If the fuel tank is miles away from the airport- short of picking up the tank and dropping it on the terminal- it would take a very significant amount of time to get the required amount of fuel to JFK from a ruptured pipeline. If the fuel is burned at the rupture point it would be more of a localized burn and relatively easy to contain. Also, you would not be able to have multiple ruptured-burn sites since the first rupture would consume all the fuel in the pipeline.
Sounds more like a hairbrained scheme than anything else, certainly not well thought out.

"good Muslim"

I thought about applying Halsey's and Sherman's quotes to this, but I slapped my hands.

Nberio, good points, but it does not lessen the crime. I do not want them to use the "foolish plot" defense by saying it would not work anyway.

The 1992 explosion of a complete length of sewer in Guadalajara, Mexico was dure to gasoline fumes in the sewer. What made an entire length of pipe explode was oxygen in the sewer along with gasoline vapors. For example, when natural gas lines rupture, the result is a local catastrophe, not an explosion along the entire length.

Just think of what Muslims could do if they would put this same energy that they use to plan destruction into causes that would benefit other human beings. As I've listened here and read parts of the Koran I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to be a Muslim. There is no beauty or edification in their belief system and no positive, long lasting achievements that they can point to to validate Islam's existence.

Muslims could say that they are very pro-family, but we know this is a facade when boys are taught that the highest good for them would be to kill themselves (and others with them) for Allah and girls are forced into different forms of sexual slavery and snuffed if they embarass anyone in the family. We're also told that Muslims are peaceful people but there is no peace where hate and blame are served up daily and where thinking for yourself isn't allowed. And people who murder or torture others and then bury their conscience under the excuse that "Allah said I could do it" know on some level that they are not being straight with the rest of us.

Islam should be dismantled and eliminated for many reasons, but mostly because when it comes to humanity, it's just a bad system. We can't even say, let's look at the pros and cons. There aren't any pros. The whole ideology depends on fear and intimidation to prolong it. And as we learned with Communism, anything that buries the human spirit and forces it's demands on people against their will cannot be the answer to world peace.

Now that we've seen this latest attempt at destroying an American institution and along with it, our way of life, can we get our leaders to stop hiding their heads in the sand and acknowledge what the rest of us can plainly see, that Islam is not peaceful and that when Muslims say they seek to destroy our way of life they mean business and we'd better pay attention if we want to stop them from doing so?

Pelayo,

"Mohammedans put much importance in the significance religious places; they would naturally assume we do the same."

What's religious about an airport?

Isn't that the point? They expect us to feel the same way they do. They think an attack like this would just totally demoralize America and they could swoop in for the kill.

They don't realize that we will be the ones swooping in to kill them.

It's important to know your enemy and they don't. They still think we are the people their ancestors encountered on their plundering raids. They don't know what makes us tick and they never will because they can't get past the idea that anyone in the world doesn't think like they do.

The fact that they place such significance in a dot on a map makes me even more certain that Mecca has to be OUR target. We just have to tell them upfront what will happen the next time they even try something so stupid and let them choose which they prefer. We'll kill THEM twice. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Airports run like clockwork. Everything is orderly and planes follow a set pattern. Disrupt that pattern and the whole network could go haywire. A fuel line disruption or explosion need not destroy the land around it. It's enough that it stops the flow of fuel. This prevents the jets from taking off and those in the sky from landing. It can create havoc with no visible damage for a camera to zoom in on. We expect there to be backups and failsafes and contingency plans but there is never a guarantee.

The fact that this plan didn't have a chance of doing what its perpetrators hoped it might isn't the issue. They could have done enough damage to disrupt the airport's operations without causing any visible damage in surrounding neighborhoods or along the rest of the fuel line.

Our infrastructure is vulnerable because it is set up to optimize the flow of goods and people. It isn't set up like a top-secret military base. It assumes all citizens and those we welcome here want the same thing - a decent life.

Just adding to Marilyn's and MrTommyAtkins postings above: here in Australia one of the news items re. the JFK affair (from ABC [Australian Broadcasting Corporation] news online):

"More details are emerging about an alleged plot by four men of Caribbean origin to blow up John F Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York.

US officials say the four suspects had tapped into an international network of Muslim extremists.

One of the groups named is Jamaat Al Muslimeen, a radical Islamic organisation based in Trinidad.

Jamaat Al Muslimeen first came to attention in 1990, when they tried to overthrow the government of Trinidad and Tobago.

More than 100 armed men stormed the parliament building and took the Prime Minister and members of the cabinet hostage.

The militants surrendered after six days, claiming they had been granted an amnesty.

Although they were at first arrested, a court later agreed that they should be freed.

Since then Jamaat Al Muslimeen has had several run-ins with the authorities."

I believe a fellow Jihadwatcher has already noted that in Trinidad & Tobago the Muslims are only about 5 % of the population...and yet Jamaat al Muslimeen attempted a coup, 'stormed the Parliament building and took the PM and members of the cabinet hostage" (remind anyone of that plot that got foiled in Canada?).

anyway: the ABC is doing its job here (the background info about the J a M attempted coup in T&T also appeared on the standard ABC radio news). I see the word 'Muslim' and 'Islamic' in this news story, loud and clear.

What's religious about an airport? by PMK

Yeah, I wrote that in haste. What I meant was that Muslims must think that if they harm a landmark named after a revered leader, we will be demoralized or especially saddened. (How about especially pissed off.)I also meant that by naming something after JFK we do not add any more reverence to the place beyond just the name.

These people go ape-sh*t over a cartoon showing their favorite pedophile. It's just a damn picture. A mosque is just a building. JFK Int'l is just another airport. Blow it up, and we'll build another one just like it.

Frankly, it's about time for the following constitiutional amendment: Any individual convicted of planning or attempting to execute a terrorist act designed to cause massive casualties will receive the death penalty. Period. We cannot afford to let the states handle this because terrorism crosses state lines.

It doesn't matter whether these Muslims want to "martyr" themselves for the Greater Glory of Allah. It's one thing to control your own death, which the "martyrs" do; it's quite another to place your life unwillingly in the hands of another. Besides, such a punishment might deter at least one of these bastards.

What I meant was that Muslims must think that if they harm a landmark named after a revered leader, we will be demoralized or especially saddened.

Pelayo, you might have made a point inadvertently. Why did the jihadists attack the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and (presumably) the White House or the Capitol (though Flight 93)? Because they believed as you say. Perhaps there's a bit of psychological projection there? I mean, if we hit Mecca, Medina, al-Aqsa, al-Azhar and the Dome of the Rock with major destructive force, perhaps Islam will collapse?

Why did CNN scrub the telephone interview with Kadir's wife shortly after it aired?

My earlier post was not complete. Kadir's wife not only said that she and Kadir were "good Muslims", she stated that they were "good Muslims and that was ALL she was going to SAY!"

CNN or whoever scuttled the tape of the telephone interview did not want that statement (which explains everything) to go out on the airwaves again.

Kadir's two children (who are also "good Muslims") are, no doubt, receiving instructions in Iran on how to be even better Muslims than their parents.

Why is our government allowing anyone's children to go to Iran to study Islamic Theology when "good Muslims" from Iran are planting IED's in Iraq for our sons and daughters?

ROP? NO. Their religion is ROT. Religion of Terror.

Perhaps there's a bit of psychological projection there? I mean, if we hit Mecca, Medina, al-Aqsa, al-Azhar and the Dome of the Rock with major destructive force, perhaps Islam will collapse?

EXACTLY!

Is there no reason we can't tell them upfront that these religious places will be demolished the next time there is a terrorist attack in America by any Muslim who cites the Koran as justification?

People in other countries might say: what about us? Is America just going to stand by when we are hit?

We can say: and what are you doing to help us right now? Show us your pro-America and anti-Islamist credentials. The only credible ones are already in Iraq or Afghanistan. By their deeds ye shall know them.
