One thing - we do see how Mohammedans reacted simply to Rushdie being knighted. What should happen is that random events like this should take place for a week or a month throughout the West - an effigy burning in Denmark one day, a Quran descecration in Washington another, a descecration of the Saudi flag (which contains the Shehada) in UK a third, a mock beheading of Ali in Paris a fourth, a dramatized killing of Imam Hussein (a parallel to the Ashura, but without the real human bloodletting) a fifth in Montreal, a sixth in Den Hague - just keep performing such acts for a period of time on a daily basis. We've seen how Mohammedans react to single events, like the Danish cartoons or the Rushdie knighthood. Let's see how they react to a series of well publicized insults to Islam on a daily basis for a given period. Rage boy and others would have enough of their veins bursting with rage, and we'd hopefully see a magnified version of those riots - in other words, a mini civil war - break out throughout the Islamic empire.

People seem to forget that most of the worldwide riots were in Muslim countries, there most of the damage happened. In the west they were vocal outburst with threats but not real material damage, more like alfa baboons showing there teeth to discourage a rival. What the Danes are up too is to provoke them into more of these displays and over a longer period of time. This has happened in more places in Denmark, these good Danes have two more videos that they have taken of the same procedure, burning images of the prophet, they are going to release these at one month intervals. The muslims wont be able to keep up these displays for ever they will have to put up or shut up. What ever they do it will be a win win situation for the Danes and the west, if they shut up it will prove that they are nothing more that posing wind bags and if they do something they will condemn themselves even more by their intolerance. I personally don't think that anything will happen. The Cartoon affair was coordinated at a government level, they didn't cower the Danes then and they wont cower them now. Why waste your time organizing three months of riots in your own country if you are not going to get anything out of it. The MSN will not do anything they are not going to rock the boat unless they decide to report any of the so called spontaneous riots in different muslim capital cities. And as those will not be forthcoming nothing will happen.
The nice thing that most people missed about the Cartoon affair is that Denmark is the Western country that would be least affected by an Arab boycott. Denmark is virtually Energy independent. They have an oil field in the North Sea that supplies most of the needs of the country and they supply 20% of there energy needs through renewable resources. Denmark have vast Windmill parks both in the North Sea and the Baltic. Denmark's trade is not dependent on exports to the Middle East. What they lost in trade in the middle east they more than made up for by the rise in exports to the non islamic countries. Denmark is stronger now than when it was before the Cartoon crisis.

Of course, ideally an event like this should be accompanied by a short, sharp speech explaining exactly WHY it is considered appropriate to burn Muhammed in effigy. Such as a prominent feminist, say, reading out that horrible passage from the Quran concerning the proper way to discipline wives whom the husband merely FEARS may be insubordinate - together with some of the contemporary data about extreme domestic violence in Islamic societies, honour killings, etc. Hey - have a public screening of 'Submission'...THEN go out and burn the effigy.
Or one could have a Sudanese refugee giving their testimony on what it's like to be a peaceful Christian black African villager when the Islamic jihad rides into your village waving guns and bent on raping every female, stealing the kids, stealing the livestock, burning the houses and the church and executing the priest. The first amendment was not put in place to protect majority opinion. It was meant to protect ideas and opinions that are unpopular, that are at first rejected. This is why John Quincy Adams so strongly opposed the "gag rules" re restrictions on speech (in congress and elsewhere) against slavery. He warned (as Calhoun and others attempted to criminalize unpopular opinions and ideas re slavery) that the issue (slavery) was an issue that was vital, not only to the African(American) (and btw, the Arabs were deeply involved in the slave trade) but to all free men.
Muslims fear critical analysis. They want "gag rules".

Muslims will not implement "gag rules" in our society as in Muslim countries. They will fail here, just as Calhoun and the "Slaveocracy" (as John Q. Adams called it) failed to curtail and silence critical analysis of slavery in the era before the Civil War.

I don't think there will be much reaction to this unless some newspaper features it. It's interesting to speculate: Will Muslims take offense at pictorial reporting of defilement of Mohammed's image, even if the newspaper is not advocating anything? The cartoons were a sort of editorial, but this is an event not connected to the news media.
On the other hand, the people who have done this may be in danger.
