This is an interesting development. I think we are finally seeing a shift away from the Anglo-American security system in the Gulf and the emergence of a Persian dominated system. I think the Gulf Arabs will be none-too-happy with their new rulers. But if my experience working in the Gulf has taught me anything, it is that Arabs are like dogs. They want to be the alpha-male in any group. If they can't be, they run to whoever is the alpha-male and submit to him like a sycophant. The Anglo-American rule in the Gulf and Iraq was not as heavy-handed as it needed to be and now the Khaleeji Arabs are worried that Iran will be more powerful. So, they are rushing to appease Iran now.

This is a smart tactic on their behalf. If the West and Iran clashes and Iran wins. The Arabs will be rewarded. If the West and Iran clashes and Iran loses, the West will not seek retribution because revenge is not part of our culture. They will only be chastised fro their infidelity. If the West and Iran clash and the Arabs are on the side of the West's, the Iranians will build a pyramid of Saudi skulls in Riyadh and roll the king up in a rug. The Arabs know this story better than the Westerners.

The canine-like Arabs know that they will be safe with either the Anglo-American mishrukoon or the close-at-hand murtad Iranians. They just need to hedge their bets as to WHO will be looking after them.

The Saudis need to treat their shite minority more humanely... come to think of it.... the keepers of the holy of holies need to treat all peoples humanely.

Well, then, if Saudi Arabia gets along so well with Iran, all that hysterical talk about the "Shi'a crescent" was, I suppose, just so much blague to inveigle the Americans into remaining in Iraq so as to insure the Sunni Arabs get a share of power to which they are not, by their numbers or for any other reason, entitled.

Forget about the Sunnis of Anbar. Let them deal, alone, with the Kurds fighting them in and around Mosul and Kirkuk (or soon to) and the Shi'a fighting them, and expelling them, from Baghdad, fabled Baghddad, madinat al-salaam, center of High Islamic Civilization for four hundred of the five hundred years of the Abbasid Caliphate in Iraq (the capital during the first century was in Samarra, with that guggenheimish sedona-red minaret, the most mediagenic of all Islamic sites in Iraq).

Concentrate only on damaging, setting back,or destroying, with allies, the nuclear project of Iran. Otherwise, leave the Shi'a alone to suppress the Sunni Arabs.

After all, if the Saudi health minister is so unconcerned about that "Shi'a crescent" -- and sees the wonders of Iranian medicine (all of which come from the days of the Shah, when secular Iranians received medical training at Western institutions, or from Western experts brought to Iran) as -- a pipe-dream -- being a substitute if those Western doctors pull out of Saudi Arabia, and Saudis are denied access to Western medicine, to Harley Street practitioners, and such hospitals as the Mass General and Children's Hospital (crawling with black-burqa'ed women at every hour) and the Mayo Clinic and Sloan-Kettering and so many others, so naturally the Saudis are thinking to whom they can turn to, and possibly Iran, they think, offers top-notch facilities. Well, it doesn't.

But compared to whatever the Arabs have (as educated Iranians are more civilized and sophisticated and less purely Islamic than educated Arabs of the same background), the Iranians indeed may seem to offer the equivalent of Western medicine, Western facilities. It's nonsense.

Am I the only person who thinks "the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to transfer its valuable experience in various medical fields to Saudi Arabia" is really code for "transfer of nuclear technology"? I can't imagine any medical knowledge Iran has that the Saudis couldn't get cheaper and better from the US or Europe. And that quip about "hydrotherapy"? Give me a break! What possible advance could the Iranians have made on the subject?

If Zionists worshiped a death cult, the world would have reason to be worried. It isn't.

I worry about Pakistan instead -- a Muslim nation with nuclear weapons that's on the verge of going jihadist-controlled. 'Islamic Bomb' anyone?

I worry about Iran -- Islamic crazies in charge and apparently going to acquire nuclear weapons while the world twiddles its collective thumbs.

I worry about Syria, Libya and Saudi Arabia -- Islamic terrorist states that will all use proliferated technology to make their own nuclear weapons.

I worry about the Western leaders that appear too weak, too complacent, too greedy or too stupid to do anything about any of it.

Islamic terrorism teaches valuable lessons. The biggest is that the terror comes from Islam. I'm sorry -- but wasn't that the point of the terror?
