LONDON (Reuters) - British police defused a bomb in an abandoned car in London's theatre district on Friday and launched a counter-terrorism investigation.The bomb, which Sky News quoted unidentified sources as saying was "potentially massive", was found inside a light green Mercedes left outside a nightclub in the early hours of Friday, a police officer quoted witnesses as saying.
The witnesses said the occupant drove "erratically" before smashing into some bins outside the nightclub and running off. Bouncers from the nightclub investigated, saw what looked like gas canisters inside the vehicle and called the police.
Officers sealed off the area at around 2 a.m. (0100 GMT) and found a bomb, the Metropolitan police said.
"They discovered what appeared to be a potentially viable explosive device. This was made safe," they said, adding that counter-terrorism officers were investigating.

Terrorism experts said an al Qaeda connection to the potential attack could not be dismissed.
"We couldn't rule it out," a security source said, noting that the threat from international Islamist terrorism was the main reason the official British threat level is placed at "severe", the second highest level.
"Numerically speaking, al Qaeda is a strong possibility but it just is too early to attribute specifically.
"It would be wrong and short-sighted to rule out domestic options as well. Obviously there are various extremist groups out there too," the source added.
The MI5 intelligence agency said last year it believed Islamist radicals were plotting at least 30 major terrorist attacks in Britain and it was tracking some 1,600 suspects.
"al Qaeda connection"" these are the code words for any and all islamists. The government and media want to supress all suspicions by saying if its not "al Qaeda connected" need not worry. but among themselves they know otherwise (in a sane world) its all islamists. its the koran stupid!

I have a friend who flies frequently and is contemptuous of the inanities of airport security. One day, after listening to his riff, I made what I think is a valid suggestion, instead of banning shampoo why don’t we ban Muslims from boarding our airliners. He nearly bit my head off shouting ‘you can’t do that’.
It would be more accurate to say that we as a people do not have the will to ban Muslims from boarding our airliners. Point defense is a placebo at best. We must deal with the pathogen of the terror that engulfs us. The pathogen of the terror is Islam. A people so rotted from within by political correctness that we lack the courage to name the enemy cannot survive much less remain free.

Green is the favourite colour of muslims. They regard this colour as sacred. Over here you can tell a really devout muslim by his clothes. The most extreme example I ever saw wore everything green and drove a battered green coloured scooter. After green, the colour most in demand is white. White sacks. Skull caps, too.

When speaking of "good" Muslim drivers, please don't leave out Nashville's own Ibrihim Ahmed, who ran down two young men after getting into a discussion about religion which ended with the boys getting out, paying their fare and telling Ibrihim "if you are going to live in a country like ours, you're going to have to be more tolerant of people's religion" and then while walking away, Ibrihim gunned the acelerator and ran over one of the boys and clipped the other.

now you see - potentially hundreds of innocent civilians would have been killed or injured this morning, because our governments and media refuse to "name" the enemy and do something positive.
First 2 steps would be, banning muslim immigration, DNA profiling all muslims.
then i would move onto the next things - Muslims would not be allowed on aircraft unless it is an aircraft specifically for muslims. Muslims leaving the country for any reason would not be allowed back in. Muslims caught in any criminal or terrorist activity however small would be immediately deported along with their entire families, if they refuse to say where they are originally from, deport them to Iraq (anywhere but here). Mosques would be subject to random searches and be fitted with cctv to keep an eye on the enemy within.
This may be harsh to "moderate" muslims (if there are any), but today could have been a damn sight harsher on a lot of innocent people of this country.

Prince Naseem car crash

Former boxing world champion Prince Naseem Hamed will be released from prison by Monday 4th September, after serving three and a half months of a fifteen month sentence for dangerous driving.
Hamed will be tagged and will be ordered to stick to a 7.00pm - 7.00am curfew. He was banned from driving for four years and was ordered to serve a 15 month prison sentence in May this year after he was involved in a 90 mile an hour head on crash with Anthony Burgin (38) and his wife. He then fled the scene and left Anthony Burgin severely injured, with fractures to every major bone in his body.
Jane Wright of national law firm Irwin Mitchell who represented Mr Burgin said: "Naturally my client is deeply upset and shocked that Mr Hamed has only served a fraction of his sentence. At the time of sentencing Mr Hamed was advised that he would service a minimum of half his sentence. Mr Burgin is struggling to come to terms with the fact that he has been released a lot sooner."
Anthony Burgin added, "I am very upset that this has happened, I was obviously expecting Mr Hamed to serve a lot more of his sentence. What happened to my wife and I was deeply distressing and nearly destroyed our lives, I am shocked that after such a serious accident Mr Hamed has been released after less than four months".
The crash happened on Sunday May 2 2005 on Ringinglow Road, Sheffield less than a mile from Mr Hamed's £3m mansion. At the time the court heard that he was driving his £300,000 super car at over 90mph whilst overtaking on a blind brow of a hill, in direct contravention of the white line system in operation on that road.
Please folks, don't quip that no Irishman would ever blow up a bar because the worst IRA atrocity on mainland Britain was when they did just that, a pub bomb in Birmingham murdering some twenty people.
