Up until November 2003, the website of the Saudi Embassy in Washington, DC, said: "The Muslims are required to raise the banner of Jihad in order to make the Word of Allah supreme in this world, to remove all forms of injustice and oppression, and to defend the Muslims. If Muslims do not take up the sword, the evil tyrants of this earth will be able to continue oppressing the weak and [the] helpless…"
But now they have turned against those who teach the same things. Got to keep up appearances, you know.
"Saudi arrests are effort against Web jihad," by Shaun Waterman for UPI (thanks to all who sent this in):
WASHINGTON -- In arresting three men suspected of spreading Al Qaeda propaganda on the Web, Saudi authorities are trying to take the battle against extremism to the Internet.Earlier this month, the official Saudi Press Agency reported that the ministry of the interior had "arrested three people involved in promoting deviant thoughts through the Internet to undermine the security of the country."
It identified two of those arrested as Saudis who had used the online aliases Abu Aseed Al Falluji and Abu Abdullah Al Najdi. It said that the third man - who was not identified - was a foreigner arrested in Medina and was responsible for the publication of the online jihadist magazine Sada Al Jihad, or "Echoes of Jihad."
They are not going to do anything of the sort. The saudis are the ones who are financing this thing in the first place, and they are not going to stop funding mosques and the madrasas that are the source of jihad terror. I used to chat a lot in 2001 and there were a few of us who had formed a group on the net, sharing our equations (we were fresh out of college). On Sept. 11 when the attacks took place, we were chatting when a member told us to drop everything and turn on the T.V. I was horrified at what I saw. Our group started searching for jihad sites. Between us, we reported about 50 to the FBI. One of the sites that simply went out (we reported it anyway, it was perplexing us for some time, we had not linked all the dots yet) was fear-allah.com. This site had footage of Chechenyan anti jihad muslims being hanged by masked men and there were messages to the "brothers" to stand up in arms for justice. There were a lot of videos on that site, but since we did not know about the global jihad, we were puzzling over this site. But then 9/11 happened.
I am not in touch with any member of that group since then. We just fell apart. If any member of The Chaos Group is reading this, I am Apollo100 from India. Miss you guys.
I am having a hard time believing this article.
Was this written out of sarcasm?
If it is true the only thing that I can figure is that maybe to the true fundamentalists the internet is a sign of the evil West.
I totally believe it. Obviously, the Saudi's fund Wahhabi mosques and ideology worldwide. However, I belive it's becoming more and more clear the House of Saud will be destroyed by the animal ideology they support. This has been stated on numerous AlQaeda videos threatening the use of force against the House of Saud for being too allied with the US, selling oil too cheaply on the world market etc. The Saudis realize one of AQ's biggest priorities is dismantling the Haouse of Saud and totally controlling thier oil, and completely dismantling relations to the West. they would also want complete control to Mecca & Medina. The big irony is that the Saudi leadership is under great threat to the same islamic radicals and ideology they support. Expect to see more and more terror attaqcks in SA going forward.
I believe that this is just the Saudi princes trying to prevent their own demise. Bin Laden wants, among other things. the removal of Saudi rule. Wahabbism is OK for the average denizen of Saudi Arabia and everybody else worldwide, but not for the Saudi ruling class. Mercedes Benzes and vacations on the Riveria can be addictive.
