"Two explosive-laden cars in London linked," from CNN:
LONDON, England (CNN) -- A vehicle containing fuel, gas canisters and nails found early Friday near Trafalgar Square is "clearly linked" to another explosives-packed car found outside a nightclub near Piccadilly Circus, Metropolitan Police said.
A "considerable" amount of fuel and gas canisters, along with a "substantial quantity of nails," was found in the blue Mercedes 280E, said Peter Clarke, Metropolitan Police deputy assistant commissioner.
He called the discovery of the second bomb "troubling," but urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior to authorities.
The second vehicle was ticketed about 2:30 a.m. Friday (9:30 p.m. Thursday ET), Clarke said. It was near Trafalgar Square, roughly a half-mile from where the first vehicle -- also a Mercedes -- had been found about an hour earlier.
About 3:30 a.m., Clarke said, the Mercedes was taken to an impound lot in Hyde Park. Security sources earlier told CNN that workers who towed it thought the car smelled of gasoline, and became suspicious because of the reports that gasoline was among the explosive materials found in the first vehicle.
Clarke said the second device, like the first, was "potentially viable" but was rendered safe by police explosives officers.
And the neutralized bombs, of course, should prove to be a bonanza for forensic investigators.
"These vehicles are clearly linked," he said.

A prominent Labour party member says he will sue police after being arrested and allegedly beaten during clashes in Burnley.
Shahid Malik, 33, who sits on Labour's national executive and is a member of the Commission for Racial Equality, was hurt during an outbreak of violence on Monday night.

More than 20 other people were arrested as tensions remained high in the Lancashire town, but the incidents were not on the same scale as the weekend's violence.
Mr Malik, who lives in Burnley and is the son of the town's deputy mayor, said he had been trying to stop the violence.
But he told the BBC he had been arrested by "very hyped-up" police in riot shields.
He said: "The riot shields were smashed in my face, causing four to five stitches above the eye, a black eye, lacerations to the arm, bruises on the back of the head, on the body and on the legs."
Mr Malik said he had fallen unconscious before being taken to hospital in handcuffs. He was later discharged.
A police spokeswoman said the skirmishes began when police officers asked groups of young Asian men in the Abel Street area of the town to disperse.
"When police approached one of the groups ... officers came under attack when missiles including stones were thrown at them," she said.
A Lancashire Police statement confirmed that a man had been arrested, "and injured during the course of his arrest".

It's ironic that the UK nanny state has cameras up everywhere, yet none of it is helping to prevent these things. Mosques and Muslim neighborhoods really need to be the target of heavy surveillance. All Muslim homes should be monitored.

If this was WW2 and the Germans were Muslims in the UK I bet they would get told to go back to their countries. But because it's 2007 I bet they would say please we need more Muslim MPs to sort it out they would listen to you. The meaning is authorities lack being authorative and is too open with kindness whilst not addressing the problem. If today's western governments had to go against Hitler (no nukes involved) Hitler would be ruling Europe, and I hope if Europe elect a president for Europe its a German who can finally claim they won the war after all as some meaning to our own destruction due to political correctness with non testosterone led decisions leading to a weakening irony of defeat.
