West Bank men shaving beards to avoid Fatah arrests

Maybe the newly beardless ones can also pick up some of the large amounts of American aid that will soon be raining upon Fatah. By Ali Waked for Ynet News, with thanks to Morgaan Sinclair:

The tensions in Gaza were felt all the way in the West Bank city of Qalqiliya where merchants in the local marketplace decided not only to mark down prices but also shave off their beards.

"Nowadays a beard is no longer a religious decree, it's a clear and present danger," one of the merchants told Ynet. "Fatah harasses anyone with a beard and beats them, so may Allah forgive us if we remove ours to stay safe. As it is the beard is optional and not mandatory," he said.

In Ramallah last weekend three French citizens were badly beaten by Fatah men who suspected them of being affiliated with Hamas due to their facial hair. Hamas meanwhile has accused Fatah of persecuting the religion of Islam and subsequently anyone who looks religious due to his appearance.

Does not matter to remove the beard, moustache, or having a beard, islam still kills all non muslims, and in this case those not being muslim enough. once sharia installed you do see beards, but islam never changes just a hair away from taking over.

H'mm what happens if HAMAS TAKES CONTROL OF THE
WEST BANK? [Which they've threatened to do.]
Doesn't matter which bunch of Nutters are in control-Allah will still get lots of blood sacrifices. As to Fatah being portrayed as 'secular & democratic',excuse me while I laugh...
If U.S can't see danger of arming & funding ANY
PALESTINIAN FACTION-then administration are even
more stupid than we thought.

Yes, and it seems the whole 'Jizya Handout Circus is about to start again, as Thug vs. very slightly less Thug vie for PR points and begging bowl pole position.

The Imminent, Ever-So Hard-Negotiated (by Ham-Ass) Release of Alan Johnston

Writing in the Jerusalem Post, Khaled Abu Toameh points out that Western support for Fatah helped fuel Hamas's coup because it antagonized people who had voted for and liked Hamas. Now, the same mistake is about to be repeated in the West Bank. It would be more prudent to support neither faction.

Which reminds me I must go and shave my 'beard' (weak stubble!)soon - too much geeking, news monitoring and blogging - not enough grooming :)

Does this mean that Robert Spencer would be in danger walking around Ramallah? Imagine mistaking him for an al-qaeda type...
Well, it does provide an opportunity for barbers and Gillette investors.
What's interesting is that Fatah has subtracted some of the legalisms and superficialities from Islam, but preserved the ruthlessness.

It would be more prudent to support neither faction. I couldn't agree more with that concise analysis, jd..

These people are obsessed with hair. Showing it, growing it, shaving it, plucking it, covering it - or not.

Reminds me of the 60s Broadway hit, Hair, The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, about hippies, drugs, music and the peace and love culture.

Oh wait. There is no peace or love in islam.

"'Nowadays a beard is no longer a religious decree, it's a clear and present danger,' one of the merchants told Ynet."
-- from the article

"Clear and present danger"? Is this merchant a great admirer of the jurisprudence of Oliver Wendell Holmes? A long-time student of Abrams, Gitlow, and the other cases on free-speech?

What are we to make of a phrase hallowed in American constitutional history that, we are asked to believe, comes from the lips of someone, a Muslim Arab whose worldview is necessarily circumscribed by Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira, and who uses a phrase that comes from an entirely different world, a world in which individual rights are considered, through laws interpreted by judges, of the caliber of Oliver Wendell Holmes and, in the early free-speeech cases, his colleague Louis Brandeis.

What's next? Will we read that King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, when George Bush invites him to Kennebunkport to "meet the whole family," reportedly joshed upon meeeting Barbara Bush, in that famously friendly al-Saudish way, pointing at George Bush, Junior -- "well, oedipus-shmoedipus, as long as he loves his mother."

"Clear and present danger."

When did the newspaper reporters begin to read as if they were submitting entries for Ripley's "Believe It or Not"?

The ULTRA-violence that is such a characteristic feature of the Mahometan cult actually makes a bizarre kind of sense. After being commanded over and over again by the Koran to "slay the unbelievers," the overall effect is to lower the threshold for what constitutes justifiable homicide. Thus, when the cult members temporarily run out of us infidel dogs to murder, they turn to murdering EACH OTHER.
Yup, it doesn't take much to get a crazy raghead to foaming at the mouth and killing.

Once a coward, always a coward. Make big ugly sounds and kill like a maniac until your own life is in danger, then run and hide like a 4 year old girl.

I am laughing in the face of those brave terrorists.

WEST BANK? [Which they've threatened to do.]

Morgane,

So right. After reading that first sentence, my thought was: and am I supposed to care?

Very un-Christian of me! (Forgive me, Father)

Since the beard is the 'sunnah of the prophet', these Fatah men are guilty of apostasy - and one knows what the Islamic penalty is for that, right? Of course, we could count on Hamas to provide the corrective action. While these cowards are at it, they should complete their transformation by donning the jilbabs.

Only problem - the IDF has now committed to preventing Fatah men from taking retaliatory measures against Hamas. Since Hamas' rebellion has been fueled by the support Fatah has received from the West, maybe the Israelis should openly start supporting Hamas, and drive their popularity into the toilet?

Greetings:

Good thing those Muslims have that "necessity" hole card to pull out in situations like this.
