Israel keeps on supplying them weapons. Israel continues to talk about withdrawal. Israel offers amnesty to Fatah terrorists. Israel released 250 prisoners, and is considering releasing 600 more.
The Fatah response to Olmert's "goodwill gesture program"? Fight on.
"'The resistance is our choice,' says Gazan Al Aqsa Brigades leader," from Ma'an News Agency:
Gaza - Ma'an – The Fatah-affiliated Al Aqsa Brigades have stated that the positions of the Fayyad government, in regard to armed resistance groups, "doesn't represent the vision and philosophy of the resistance and the defence of the dignity of Palestinians".A statement issued by Abu Al Muntasir, a prominent Aqsa Brigade leader in the Gaza Strip, declared, "This will make it more easy for Hamas to attack the Fatah movement, and say that we are 'standing against the resistance'. "
Abu Al Muntasir added that Fayyad "should have insisted on the resistance and its soul, and given his support to it… We will not lay down our weapons, and will not stop our resistance, as long as our people are suffering from the occupation."
What happened to Abbas' promise that his al-Aqsa terrorists would lay down their weapons? Why did Olmert release Fatah terrorists when it was clear that the fighting would go on? Why is Olmert considering releasing more? Why is he allowing weapons transfers from Jordan? Why is the US sending more money to Fatah?
Furthermore, I thought Fatah was out of Gaza.
Answers anyone?

....the Hamas Occupation?......
My one concern in all this is that the MSM is not reporting that Israel is bending over backwards to appease those who desire to destroy it. When Israel inevitably wakes up from it's wishful thinking and takes out these nutjobs, the MSM will act as if this was unprovoked, at that Israel did nothing to strive for peace before it launched it's attacks on Hamas and Fatah. Down the memory hole goes Israel's sacrifices for peace. It's all the fault of the Joooooos attacking the innocent Palistinians, will be the refrain in the West.
Do I have to be the first to say it? Either Olmert is being bribed by the muslims or they have something pretty incriminating on him. No way he can be this stupid. I do not believe that for a minute.
It's pretty simple really.

In a back-alley streetfight you finish the guy when you have him down. You don't let him get back up. This conflict differs from a streetfight only in terms of numbers of people involved and the amount of time spent. Finish him when he's down so he doesn't have a chance to hurt you again. Survival instincts?
In this stage show there are ignorant players (the public), there are fools (the pundits and commentators who can't understand why the politicians, diplomats, and statesmen can't understand what seems perfectly obvious and reasonable) and then there are the principal players (evil men who have no intention of bringing peace, but rather intend to bring about more concentration of money and power to themselves and who deftly use the lack of peace as diversion to allow them the garnering of both).
The US government is taking the lead in the international theft of Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem from Israel so that it can be given to the Arabs. The Bush Executive Branch has given Olmert his marching orders, which he, as a US stooge, faithfully obeys.
I no longer see the US government (at least the executive branch) as a moral entity. Governments do not have friends; they have only interests. Unfortunately, our government's interests are personal ones belonging to career politicians and bureaucrats who don't care one wit about US interests, Western interest, or acting with some sense of morality. The roster of lobbyists and consultants on payroll for the Arab countries reads like a "Who's Who" list of former US State Department and CIA officials and bureaucrats, including ambassadors and Secretaries. (This doesn't even begin to address those who have secured fat business contracts with the Arabs.) Do you really believe they were acting in good faith with their American public trust while they were employed by the US taxpayers? How much less would they act in the interest of an Israel or Kurdistan, or... Perhaps they look ahead to that bigger Arab payday after their prerequisite American "public service?" It's disgraceful and treasonous and should be illegal, or at least be exposed and trumpeted before the public.
Answers: Unless you thought Abbas was in any way different from Arafat, his actions should surprise no one. Tell the Americans what they want to hear, get the cash, then go back to demonizing Israel and the Jews. This pattern, institutionalized by the Oslo Accords, has served Fatah very well. It was, in fact, the brainchild of Arafat in 1974, the "phased plan" of Israeli destruction. Negotiate, but make no concessions, get the international money, then resume incitment and terror attacks. When the attacks cause enough damage, and the American President is in need of a popularity boost, Israel will again be lead to negotiations, and so on.
You are ascribing too many differences between Fatah and Hamas. While Hamas decries PA corruption and PA lip-service to the peace process, the Al Aqsa Brigades have always been dedicated to jihad against the Zionist entity. Arafat, and then Abbas, both claimed not to be able to control Al Aqsa Brigades, and I have read that they may be telling the truth: Al Aqsa Brigades get funding from Iran and Syria, and often their marching orders as well.
