...The US homeland security secretary, Michael Chertoff, singled out extremists who have been radicalised in Britain as a danger to America. A report compiled by US security chiefs on the threat to their homeland concluded that British-based Muslims would regard "the use of violence here as legitimate".The findings will reinforce efforts by the US government to tighten up visa controls. Mr Chertoff is calling for visitors from the European Union who enter the US via the visa waiver scheme to register their personal details 48 hours before taking a transatlantic flight.

Muslims should be ineligible for the visa waiver program, regardless of their country of origin.
If they cant get in legally, they will just sneak across the Mexican border. No problemo...

Our so called head of Homeland Security, Chertoff, said he has a gut feeling. Well that makes me feel safe. Nothing like having gut feelings to direct national security.

Now if only the State Dept (in particular its consular/Visa folks) would stop treating visiting this country as an automatic right of being a member of the human race then I might be a bit more excited by Chertoff's comment, er, was that a gut feeling? Just because a country's government may be friendly to us, dare I say an ally, does not mean its citizens are friendly to us.

This will also make life difficult for non-Muslims, that is the native British as well as immigrants who are Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Confucians (and, unlike Muslims, possess a faith that does not make them implacably opposed to the permanence of the legal and political institutions of the Infidel nation-state, as Muslims, to the extent that they are good Muslims, must be). But that is one more thing that makes the large-scale presence of Muslims in their midst a source of unpleasantness. Nor will the restrictions required for security reasons be limited to the United States. In the end, other countries as well, including fellow members of the E.U., will have to change their non-visa policies for Schengenland because of the general threat posed by Muslims, in any one country, not only to that country but to other member-states of the E.U. There is no end to this.
But a better grasp of reality, and a logical drawing of conclusions, would be welcome.

I know a lot of radicals right here IN America who are by far a bigger threat than British radicals...
domestic terrorists known as gangs,

elected officials comparing their enemies to hitler,

idiots who don't see the mortal danger of illegals...
...so British radicals, while possibly a threat, aren't even remotely close to public enemy #1.
How about this: if they're Muslim they don't get in here EVER. If they're not, no waiting to come to America.
Personally, I don't believe that it takes 48 hours to figure out if somebody is a Muslim--even for lame-brained US bureaucrats.
I am personally not pleased to see the US tourist industry take an unnecessary hit. And don't give me any back talk on this either. I'd rather not hear it.
what Chertoff is saying is true, and i was surprised that the US did not impose very tight visa controls on UK passport-holders shortly after 9/11.
BUT what about the Rio Grande ? is that not a rather more direct conduit into the homeland he is employed to defend ? how about some more visa work down there ?
and what about the Saudi students so dear to the President's heart ? a bit of screening needed there ?
So i don't deny the truth of what Chertoff is saying, but he seems to be pointing at the smoke from the chimney down the end of the street rather than that which is coming from his own kitchen.
the world needs a strong US as much as ever, but allowing massive infiltration not only makes the US seem weak, it also makes it weak. immigration should not outstrip the rate of integration, and when it does then disaster threatens - just look at the UK.
Visa waiver - This was a reciprocal arrangement between Western nations, reflecting the similar culture of the West. It was an unusual arrangement, and away from the norm of a visa requirement for all foreign citizens. This arrangement is now under threat. Though I support the abolition of the visa waiver at this moment in time, there is hardly any doubt that such an event has come about, because of Western governments allowing large number of Muslims into the West. This presence is now dissolving the glue that held Western nations together, of which the visa waiver was an outward manifestation. Such are the unintended consequences of a liberal immigration policy.
Then we have security measures, continuous surveillance by CCTV cameras (1984), airport security measures that are demeaning, SJS, "lunatic" Muslims, males and now females running amok, are going to be our future. This will go on and on, and get much worse, until we, especially the USA and Britain, realise that this is no future to live and work for. We are working towards a police state.
Only when the realisation dawns that we are dissolving the bonds that hold Western nations together, as well as heading towards a police state, and that Muslims are the main, in fact the sole cause of it, then and only then will we contemplate what needs doing.
If they are Muslim and can recite a William Blake poem, a verse from a Noel Coward song, and name two Rudyard Kipling characters, okay.
Because only an apostate would care about them.

I'm coming to the U.S. next spring and as a white aborigine of celtic background I don't mind applying for a visa.It might make things a bit easier at customs and the suspicion levels may drop a little.
I've been all over the U.S. in the past many times and I always thought the visa waiver form was a nonsense....
the way the air stewards ask everyone who isn't a U.S. citizen to fill in a ridiculous little green slip.
I've been questioned at U.S. customs before on several occasions and searched and generally treated like a criminal.I didn't bitch and moan about it like the mobots though...and the reason for the suspicion?...

U.S. customs have been practicing occupational profiling for decades...ALL my collegues and friends in the music buisness have been stopped and searched at some point...
so why no racial profiling?
