And 9/11 was a pretext for dictatorship, like the Reichstag Fire.
Meanwhile, this is an American Congressman who has accepted money from an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorist funding case -- an organization whose spokesman has said he'd like to see the U.S. become an Islamic state sometime in the future, and whose co-founder has said that he'd like to see the Qur'an become the only law of the land here. Yet even as Ellison makes dark insinuations about George W. Bush wanting to destroy the American system of government, no one asks where he himself stands on the question of whether he would like to see the U.S. Constitution he has sworn to defend give way to Sharia.
By Toby Harnden in the Telegraph (thanks to Jen):
America's first Muslim congressman has provoked outrage by apparently comparing President George W Bush to Adolf Hitler and hinting that he might have been responsible for the September 11 attacks.Addressing a gathering of atheists in his home state of Minnesota, Keith Ellison, a Democrat, compared the 9/11 atrocities to the destruction of the Reichstag, the German parliament, in 1933. This was probably burned down by the Nazis in order to justify Hitler's later seizure of emergency powers.
"It's almost like the Reichstag fire, kind of reminds me of that," Mr Ellison said. "After the Reichstag was burned, they blamed the Communists for it, and it put the leader [Hitler] of that country in a position where he could basically have authority to do whatever he wanted."
To applause from his audience of 300 members of Atheists for Human Rights, Mr Ellison said he would not accuse the Bush administration of planning 9/11 because "you know, that's how they put you in the nut-ball box - dismiss you".
Vice-President Dick Cheney's stance of refusing to answer some questions from Congress was "the very definition of totalitarianism, authoritarianism and dictatorship", he added.
Mr Ellison also raised eyebrows by telling his audience: "You'll always find this Muslim standing up for your right to be atheists all you want."
A convert to Islam who was previously linked to the extremist Nation of Islam, Mr Ellison, 42, has cultivated a moderate image since being elected last November, concentrating on issues such as health and education.
"Atheists for Human Rights..."
They have no idea, do they? No idea about Islam at all, its tenets, its attitudes, its atmospherics. They presumably welcome freethinking, the habit of free inquiry. They were applauding an apologist for a doubly-totalitarian system, one that purports to regulate the minutest parts of life, and one that further lays claim to dominate, to control, the entire globe. This is not a fabrication, nor an exaggeration. It can be found in Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira. It can be found in the 1350-year history of Jihad-conquest and subjugation of non-Muslims. But those "300 members" of "Atheists for Human Rights" not only invited Keith Ellison, a sly apologist for Islam, someone who actually voluntarily converted -- "reverted" -- to Islam, making him a far more disturbing and menacing figure than those who are simply, through no fault of their own, born into it, but also enthusiastically applauded his "I"m not saying the 9/11 attack was actually planned and executed by our government, no no, but after all, there is that Reichstag Fire that Hitler set...."
We get what we tolerate.
But let him keep spewing...he'll end up the same way loony-mckinney did when she spewed the same thing: jobless.
I wouldn't be too sure of that, jcom972, look at the demographics of his moslim constituents and would vote for any moslem over anyone else.
The election of Keith Ellison by, apparently, ignorant and dull-witted Minnesotans, was a dark day for 21st century America.
"A convert to Islam who was previously linked to the extremist Nation of Islam, Mr Ellison, 42, has cultivated a moderate image since being elected last November, concentrating on issues such as health and education."
Translation: The media have bought into the lie of Ellison's bullsh*t makeover, and are spreading those lies to you and me. But the media will only carry water, like this article, for the Dems because it's, uhm, what Dems feeeeel that matters. The NOI being a racist group, in the truest sense of the word 'racist', is not important to point out to readers/viewers. Truth goes down the memory hole once again.
I agree w/ jcom
Let this fool continue to speak publicly and eventualy he will start choking on his own shoe leather.
His consitutents may not oppose him but he did take that oath, and swore to Allah, that he would defend the consitution. The one that asserts our right to freedom of religion and speech. He will eventally say something that will so indefensible his fellow congressmen will seek his removal. My hope is that that the media will continue to follows this fool to every public event where he speaks and report his every offensive utterence. His time will come.
I just realized this article is posted by link to a British newspaper? Was there no report of this nonsense in U.S. media?
'They have no idea, do they?'
No, they have just one idea, and they till its arid ground to the exclusion of everything else.
Perhaps the worst (certainly the loudest) of the braying atheists is Richard Dawkins, a BDS sufferer of repellent personality whose repellent opinions feature heavily at the repellent Guardian. Hitchens promises much, but 'God is not Great: How Religions Poison Everything' is disappointingly narcissistic and a crushing bore to boot.
The joke is that had he been a nonNazi german parlementarian at the time of the Reichstag fire, he would have been rapidly incarcerated in a concentration camp and probably dead of a very convenient illness.
The trouble with morons like him is that they claim that they have it bad until they do find out what "bad" is and it wont be soon enough IMO.

It's often worth having a look at WND from time to time.
Re his appeal to atheists:
Is he trying the "your enemy's enemy is my friend" line?
Perhaps he is having a go at Christians? This is very possible. He wants to ally himself to atheists against Christians. Makes sense to me.

Later he can tell them he really only will protect the rights of muslims, and then it will be too late.
*YAY!*
I got my first hat tip EVER!!
Thanks, Robert!
Oliver Stone will no doubt get an opportunity to make a movie about this man....JFK was a good too.
Hugh wrote:"They have no idea. etc..."
There are atheists and there are left wing idiots who call themselves "atheists" as it wears better on their regime.
Please do not confuse the two groups as one group simply vomits ideology while the other group actually thinks.
Any atheist who feels the need to join such a group would be very suspect IMO.
Mr Ellison also raised eyebrows by telling his audience: "You'll always find this Muslim standing up for your right to be atheists all you want."
What a heap of dog stuff that is. His boss, Allah, was probably not happy to hear that...
Of course he probably had his fingers crossed behind his back...
Not all atheists are as ignorant as those whom Hugh mentions. Do not demonize the entire Atheist population, just because of those 300 people who back Ellison.
atheists like the rest of humanity can differ, but l do know a Western country founded by JudeaChristian values will accept "atheists" in their midst the same cannot be said of any islamic state. this dumbed down Keith needs to take his wares to the nearest islamict state and spew out his garbage their. it must of been some really ignorant people voting in the clap trap. lets hope the bastard kieth gets to meet his allah up front fast.
that would be down in hell.
This is good news for Bush, since Muslims were allies of Hitler during WW II.
A compliment, really.
i thought hitler is well respected in the arab world?
Quote:"i thought hitler is well respected in the arab world"
Come on!!
Poor sod still thinks like a kufir.
The guy is only a pretend muslim (ie a convert) according to most Muslims so what would he know?
No historical truth is taught in madrassas and mosques. you can be certain of that.
How else could you explain some of their views?

Sunshine is the best disinfectant.
I wondered how long it would take for him to make an ass of himself.

Yeah, try not to think of a pink elephant. These types are very good at the logical fallacy "poising the well". That's what Lewis did in his intro of Hirsi Ali. It's a clever tactic until challenged with facts. It's fooling doors can be blown off their hinges by showing everyone the fallacy process (Lincoln was good at that).
I wonder if these guys are consciously engaging in fallacies of reasoning. Probably they know they are "poisoning the well".
"You'll always find this Muslim standing up for your right to be atheists all you want."
That is until this "muslim" has the power to have you beheaded. If the country goes the way of empires before it, Ellison and co. will ape the manner of Mohammad. Please read up on how "old mo" treated those who didn't "believe in allah and the last day". Fools.

The WND story is a good one to check. It has links to past statements by this same Muslim congressman.

As for the atheists, what are they thinking? In what Muslim country is an atheist allowed to live and work without fear?
Ellison and his audience have one thing in common: both hate Bush and those they see as the "religious right". The atheists still refuse to acknowledge that the Christian right in the US has nothing on the Islamists. They'll learn it only when their heads touch the floor. By then, it will be too late.
The fact that he was sworn in on a Koran really burns me. With the exception of Tom Tancredo, Congress is a bunch of pansies who kowtows to every bloody politically correct whim and posture.
I hope jcom is right, for our sakes...
BTW, I wonder how Ellison felt about the USSR, an atheist government who never tolerated ANY religion?
"Yet even as Ellison makes dark insinuations about George W. Bush wanting to destroy the American system of government, no one asks where he himself stands on the question of whether he would like to see the U.S. Constitution he has sworn to defend give way to Sharia"....from headline.
This comment by Ellison may in fact reveal his OWN agenda of "wanting to destroy the American system of government".
I tend to listen very carefully to what someone is saying about another person; as it generally gives insight into who THEY are. And in Ellison's case I would have to say that we now know what this man is ALL about.
Additionally, it isn't too hard to figure out "whether he would like to see the U.S. Constitution he has sworn to defend give way to Sharia". That would be a "YES!"
Islam be gone!
There are two kinds of atheists. One kind is the liberal sort and they are basically elitist pricks who think they should be running the gov't. They are also the most conspiratorial minded people you'll ever meet as well. I suspect this was Ellison's audience.
The liberal atheist is basically a student of cultural Marxism and multiculturalism. The hate the west and everything it stands for and want to see it replaced. This is why liberal atheists are at the vanguard of open borders, multiculturalism and unlimited immigration. They know the best way to destroy the west is to overwhelm it with impoverised and ignorant 3rd worlders who want nothing of our society except welfare and free social services.
They are as much a enemy of the west as Islam is.
"Bush like Hitler, says first Muslim in Congress"
....what nonsense! Such manipulation! Typical!!!!

I don't think Hugh was demonizing atheists, since I think he has said that he is an atheist (as am I, if it matters). I think he was pointing out the irony of a group of atheists supporting a member of, and spokesperson for, a totalitarian religion; a totalitarian religion that if given the chance would forcibly convert or kill each one of them.
Whether you agree with them or not about atheism, it is ironic that they have the ability to think independently about the concept of religion, and yet smile and clap politely as someone compares their nation to Nazi Germany and their President to Adolf Hitler. They're smart enough to know the significance of the Reichstag fire, but not smart enough to know what role they play in this analogy. Something's not right upstairs.
I'm no member of the GWB fan club, but for a Muslim to blame 9/11 on him enrages me. But don't worry, like almost all non-Muslims, my rage doesn't lead to torching buildings, overturning cars, stabbing clerics, or strapping on a bomb vest. I won't be shaving off all my body hair in preparation for an eternity of pedophilic orgies. I'll just be here, posting occasionally about why it is important to keep Islamic violence away from our shores.
special_guest:
Points well taken.
I think some people are atheists because it's fashionable. They haven't really thought deeply about spiritual issues, and I notice that many go through this phase (as I did in my late 20's) because it goes against the grain of their society.
I'm not saying that ALL are like this. But some are. I suspect those that attended this event with Ellison of that ilk. Apparently their failure to see the irony of their situation demonstrates their shallow thinking.
Ellison should have said is that he will stand up for everyone's right to be an atheist as long as gullible atheists can serve the cause of promoting the agenda of Islam. But if Ellison and his crazy co-religionists ever succeeding in imposing Islamic law on this country, they will outlaw atheism faster than you can say "ACLU."

I would rather say he "perverted" to islam. That seems to fit better. After all, islam is a perversion of religion, and Mo perverted the teachings of Moses and Jesus.

I Googled and found the following,
http://www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com/category/keith-ellison/page/5/
It's close to being a "Keith-Ellison-Watch".
Hmmm.....I'll never understand why so many blacks are converting to Islam. Afterall, it was the Arab Muslims who rounded them up and sold them into slavery. Maybe they're not smart enough to know that.
Does anyone know what happened to Americaningermany or Germaninamerica? I haven't seen their posts for ages.
Bonniea --
Americaningermany and I write to one another quite often and she's moved on to a different blog; but I have no idea what has happened to Germaninamerica since I don't correspond with her.
"Hmmm.....I'll never understand why so many blacks are converting to Islam. Afterall, it was the Arab Muslims who rounded them up and sold them into slavery. Maybe they're not smart enough to know that.
Bonniea,
American Blacks convert to Islam because they would like to identify with a fictional past that never really existed. Since there was never really anything in Black Africa that could pass as an advanced civilization or culture, they try to attach themselves to the the Arab world.
The Muslim clergy are perfectly aware of the need of American Blacks to identify with some glorious past, and they play on that need by convincing them that, by converting to Islam, they are recapturing the religion of their ancestors.
Never mind that this is all a lot of bogus history, It's what Blacks want to hear, so they willingly swallow it, hook, line, and sinker. As for the Arab slave trade, American Blacks don't want to see or hear about it. They prefer the deception.
Champ, please tell her I said hello and miss her posts.
Rational, I totally agree with you. Very well said!
Quisling.

And the Norwegians had a spine back then and hanged Vidkun Quisling. I wonder how many Norwegians since the war have named their kids Vidkun, as opposed to say Osama? (And we're not even getting into Mohammad.)
it is interesting that a holy muslim man like mr ellison would even mingle with atheists. What would Osama bin laden say about that?
when will the first congressman stand up and state, "islam is evil". and i emigrated to the USA to escape this PC crap. my fellow americans, are we going to put up with this? let's get organised, lets get out on the street and demonstrate, i'm in Atlanta, anyone else here in ATL?
we need to start picketing, demonstrating, handing out flyers and getting organised. we must fight teh enemy at grass roots level. contact me leobritatlanta@yahoo.com this is our time.
"It's (9/11) almost like the Reichstag fire, kind of reminds me of that," Mr Ellison said. "After the Reichstag was burned, they blamed the Communists for it, and it put the leader [Hitler] of that country in a position where he could basically have authority to do whatever he wanted."
.............................
I agree with what some others here have said--I'm not a big fan of Mr. Bush, and I do believe that he has made numerous mistakes which have tended to endanger this country--but this is so far from believing him to be responsible for the single most vicious attack against US civilians in this nation's history. This is a grotesque accusation, with absolutely no facts to back it up.
He is extremely coy on this very point, when he says, "he would not accuse the Bush administration of planning 9/11 because "you know, that's how they put you in the nut-ball box - dismiss you".
I'm sure this got a big laugh--but it safely distances him from this position while essentially embracing it at the same time.
...................
"Vice-President Dick Cheney's stance of refusing to answer some questions from Congress was "the very definition of totalitarianism, authoritarianism and dictatorship", he added."
......................
I am even less a fan of Dick Cheney than of George Bush, but if you consider the above to be "the very definition of totalitarianism", then you probably haven't spent enough time studying it.
...................
Mr Ellison also raised eyebrows by telling his audience: "You'll always find this Muslim standing up for your right to be atheists all you want."
....................
Hah! Unlike those evil right-wing Christians, obviously, who are well-known for kidnapping Athiests and threatening their lives and those of their families until they embrace religion--oh, wait--no, that would be extremist Muslims who do that sort of thing.
Let him keep on talking. They've shown that the more they run off at the mouth, the more they expose themselves for what they really stand for.
Keep talking, Keith Hakim, Keith X., Keith Ellison-Muhammad....Keep talking.
I wonder what the reaction would be if a Republican Congressman suggested that 9/11 was engineered by a cabal of Democratic party leaders, including Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid?
They wouldn't stop howling until the the man was expelled from Congress.
It depends on what political letter ya have after your name (D or R).
Still, let him keep on spewing-that way we never forget who these lunatics are and what they're about-it will also keep us from getting complacent as we've been notorious for at times.
His spew is doing us REAL Americans a big favor.
http://www.terrorismawareness.org/
I'd be happier if Bush was like Patton
...Ellison was a faithful follower of the Nation of Islams Louis (the Lip) Farrakhan for several years....There can be no doubt Ellison hates America, particularily White America.....
To compare our ELECTED leader (who will be replaced just like every other president) to a dictatorial leader tells me very clearly this man has failed a personal objectivity test...and has failed history as well. It's good to see these "Atheists for Human Rights" allowing this "Congressman" to be heard but I'm concerned about whether or not the audience was nothing more than a bunch of pacifist intellectuals...i.e. suckers.
So with the Reichstag comment: Mr. Keith Ellison, you sir, are turning out to be a great bullshitter.
Behold the Taqiyya Mockingbird-- Keith Ellison.
