Regarding what the Brits are talking about I found this link Telegraph Blog today and it was a refreshing read.
The subject was about a Catholic backed radio station in Poland and its antisemitic statements. It has 44 comments (far more that any of the other subject being talked about). One fellow "Wolcott" replied to a lefthanded comment about Jesus and Christians taking a quot by Jesus out of context. He even mentioned Jihad Watch in his rebuttals further down. I could almost hear his British accent as I was reading it. No fowl language and sticking to the subject and no personnel attacks.
Some of them over the pond get it. Let's just hope more come around soon.

But as you observed.. they are taboo to speak out against the MoFoes while they have no compunction to rail against Germans 60 years after the War. Recently they rail against the Bloody Yanks as well. Not that Germans are much braver in speaking against the MoFoes nor are they more restrained in their venom against America.

That's because we haven't quite gotten to the hate speech laws so prevalent in Britain and the rest of Europe. We're inching towards them,though, but are not there just yet. In the U.S. things are done incrementally. The government starts out with an undemocratic "hate crimes" law, and then when the public becomes accustomed to it, and even accepts it as being normal, they rachet it up to something even more undemocratic. There are laws being proposed in Congress now that could very well be interpreted by an activist judge as a hate crime if a clergyman ventures the opinion that certain sexual behaviors are sinful.
President Bush has vowed to veto the law if it passes, but that'll only be an interruption. When a new President is in, it'll sail right through into law.
That's why I've always opposed any kind of hate crimes, or hate speech, laws. They are never justified in a democratic society. They are intended to punish people for what they think, and not for what they do.
They are nothing short of giving your mind over to government regulation.
Let the Imams say what they like in their Mosques, and let the rest of us say what we like about Islam without fear or intimidation from the government. Hate speech laws won't make a dent in what Imams say in the privacy of their Mosques. It's the rest of us that'll be the targets of such laws.

I only wish it were true. We are already in the early stages of the disease and it may be irreversible. None of the so-called front runners will do anything to combat it, since Europeans already consider us the greatest threat to world peace and most people want us to work more with our allies. In Canada, you can be arrested for "hate crimes" for saying negative stuff about Islam. One guy got arrested a couple years ago for handing out pamphlets that said Islam was a violent religion. His penalty was to do community service at a Mosque and during the time he was "re-educated on Islam" by an Imam.
In Canada, you also can't say homosexuality is not normal for fear of facing a human rights tribunal. A Kamloops City councilor said this a couple years ago and it cost him a couple thousand bucks paid to someone who was "offended". I bring this up to show how nuts it can get.
