JW ban lifting?

I just got word that Jihad Watch is now viewable again at Fidelity Investments, where it was banned last week. I've also learned that the Federal Government ban is spotty, prevailing in some offices but not in others.

Many thanks for all your support on this. If you work anywhere that the site was banned last week (and if you see this perhaps at home), please try it again now and let me know. I've been emailing a web filtering corporation, and others have as well, and maybe our efforts are beginning to pay off. I'll keep you posted, and thanks again.

UPDATE: More good news comes in an email from Jihad Watch reader Bob:

After reading about the banning of JihadWatch through many companies' servers, I checked last night (7/5) to see if I could reach JihadWatch through Whirlpool's servers. Sure enough, the site was banned. Then I checked CAIR's site and sure enough, I was able to view that site (!).

This morning I planned on contacting the corporation's webmasters asking them to either unban JihadWatch or ban CAIR...their choice. After just reading that the ban was lifting, I just checked JihadWatch again through Whirlpool's servers and, behold, the JihadWatch site is now viewable through the company's servers.

I'm setting a reminder to check that JihadWatch is available through the servers in the future. I can see the ban dropping back into place once the "bad press" has died down.

I hope it clears up completely Robert, and then we can restore our faith in freedom of speech.

Someone, possibly a Ned or Abigail Johnson, must have looked into it.

Keep up the good work Robert, Hugh, et al. Freedom will prevail in the end. History will look back on your work in a much more favorable light than the present.

I know two things that will lift bans: the threat of lost revenue/stockholders and lost voters.

Good...Right action sooner or later leads to right results...What is actually worse than the bannings are the reasons of 'hate speech', that's a sorry label to pin on someone without specifics.
If it's a crime to commit 'hate speech', then it should also be a crime to accuse someone of it without proof. What is hate speech to one man may be gospel to another. To accuse someone of 'hate speech' without specifics is another form of hate in itself. Hate speech is an invention of the left to quiet the opposition. The fairness doctrine another.
We the people should not have to put up with this crap, and should 'stick it to' the perpe-traitors, whenever possible.

Please don't take this as being glib or silly - but you are my hero. This is how we should behave - fight for what we believe in when something is wrong.

You have set a superb example to us all. Thank you.

Good.

More.

Faster please.

Kindly keep us posted if there is more we can do to help.

FYI. I work for DOJ in NYC. I can access Jihad Watch from my work computer, and have been able to do so since I started working for the feds three years ago.

If I was still running a company with employees having access to the web, not only would I NOT ban jihadwatch.org, I'd order it set as every employees' Homepage. No Paris Hilton updates and no coffee breaks until they fulfilled their daily jihadwatch update!

Wow! Mr. Spencer - I e-mailed Fidelity Investments the other day! I said very politely that I had read they banned "JihadWatch.org" for their employees. I went on to say that "though currently I have no financial relationship with FI, rest assured that from the present into the future I never will unless their policy of censoring "JW" changes."

I did get a reply! A representative said she would pass my message along, and thanks for writing!"

Woo Hoo! Perhaps I helped!!

I access through a military installation where I work and have never had any trouble getting through.

I just went back and reviewed the response I received from Fidelity Investments. The representative said she would forward my message concerning the censoring of "Jihad Watch" to their Senior Management team.

So, "Senior Management team" at FI, if that info helps.

its funny how all good things get banned and the hatefull things dont ,it makes you wonder whats going on with the u.s.. great job on cavuto!!!

One might also want to look into the, how shall I say ... ethnicity of the people in the IT departments who control internet access at those companies.

Their is a better than even chance that they are from Indian outsourcing companies and a roughly even chance that they are individually mohammedans.

In corporate situations, as in gov't, there are always the questions of who gave what order, and then, who was responsible to interpret and enact that order.

This may or may not have come down from the top.

psycopatt1- It's not just the U.S. but everywhere. I believe that there is a true force that is evil, (I call it the devil, satan). Evil is always trying to get the upper hand. We must be on constant guard to not let evil win.

I love the famous quote, all that evil requires to win, is for good men to do nothing. Every word is true.

The fact that JW was banned by any private or public entity in the first place is evidence of just how far America has yet to go in fully comprehending the Islamic threat to our way of life. Much remains to be done but thank you, Mr. Spencer, for all that you have done so far to enlighten Americans about the true nature of Islam.

On a thoroughly selfish note, I'm relieved that now I don't have to go through the hassle of filling out paperwork to switch the investments in my retirement account.

Caroline, now that's funny. I forgot, I would have to do that too!

The resistance is alive and well. Vive l'America! Vive la liberté !

Isabella - The resistance never forgets! Remember that! :-)

I know you're right. It's just that I forgot that Fidelity was part of my portfolio. Sometimes work and saving the world overrides everything else!

I also got a response from Fidelity, surprisingly enough. I've no doubt the quantity of email they got on the issue had something to do with turning this around. Congratulations, Robert!

Just sent my email about this to Bank of America. Let's see if they answer.

I was able to view Jihad Watch at 3M until sometime last week. However, I am pleased to say it now appears Jihad Watch is once again available.

Long live the Anti-Jihad.

I work for a HUGE corporation and have never, ever had issues accessing Jihad Watch, so the two words are not coming up in any proxy server access forbidden access lists where I am at.

Try going to "poker", "gambling" though and I think they send the SWAT team.

I also got a response from Bank of America concerning the censoring of Jihad Watch.

I have NOT gotten a response from Red Lion Hotels Corporation. As of yet, anyway.

i forwarded info about the ban to talk radio host steve malzberg now back on the air in new york city's wor radio following the michael savage show. let these guys know! they reach millions. we are fighting for our oxygen supply and not see its incineration by our lowest creeps crawling our land.

More than likely these companies are using Websense (http://www.websense.com) which is the largest URL filtering software company. This software breaks websites down into categories such as hate speech, shopping, video, gambling, adult, etc. Usually what happens is HR and IT sit down and have high level meetings over topics such as, "Do we want employees to shop for personal items on company time? Do we want them to surf porn at the office?" We don't use Websense at my office, but anyone who is in IT or IT Security should be able to tell you which category Jihad watch flagged on. Then you can politely ask Websense to remove your site.

In addition English speakers have been losing the war against jihad by not taking similar action. Is there some reason that the readers of Jihad Watch have not been reporting any Jihad sites they find to Websense for blocking under the hate speech or terrorism category? Most companies are going to turn on broad categories and allow specific sites within those categories. I wouldn't find it unusual to have a request come through my department for counterterrorism and other sites of similar nature. Employees traveling to Europe and other locations need State Department travel advisories and any other data available for their safety. If your company doesn't agree then they don't care about your safety. Complain to HR or Legal. These two departments can be your best friends if you play it right.

I would be suspicious of someone asking us to unblock killallinfidels.com. That topic doesn't serve any business purpose at all.
