They dared to come to Afghanistan as Christian missionaries. "Taleban set a new deadline for Christians," by Tim Albone for the TimesOnline (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist):
Taleban rebels extended by 24 hours last night a deadline for the execution of 23 South Korean Christians held hostage in southern Afghanistan. The insurgents had originally said that if 23 Taleban prisoners were not freed by 7pm yesterday all the members of the group, which includes 18 women, would be killed.
The extension was agreed after negotiations between the Taleban and South Korean and Afghan authorities. It also emerged that Afghan and US troops had surrounded a Taleban hideout in the province of Ghazni, where the Koreans were captured. General Mohammad Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Afghan Defence Ministry, said: “As soon as we receive the order, we will start the operation.” Taleban insurgents said that if military action was taken they would kill the hostages.
So...after getting a prompt "F U very much" from authorities, they REset a new deadline...
...they must want these fellow taliban REALLY bad...a really REALLY BIG clue the incarcerated ones are of pretty high importance. Keep 'em.
Taleban? Is that some kind of UN shorthand for 'tiny minority of violent extremists --' No? It means 'students of Islam?'
Why they must be Islamophobes. Didn't the get the memo? Islam is a religion of peace. I'll repeat, slower, for those who don't know how to read. ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF PEACE AND I'LL KILL YOU IF YOU DISAGREE! (or if you happen to have the bad luck to end up as my hostage too)
Let me get this straight… they are surrounded where they have the Korean hostages. Hmm… seems the Taliban aren’t so interested in dying themselves, just getting MADrassa drop outs like Islamic Rage Boy to die for them instead.
Next
Hmmm… new suggested operational policy: When Jihadist take hostages demanding the release of certain terrorist. Ask the Jihadist for the names of the Terrorist they want us to release to them. Then tell them to stuff it. When they kill their hostages. Kill the terrorist in jail they named. Instantly they will stop this tactic as a loser for them. Right now they get cash and terrorist released as a reward. End the rewards and begin the punishments.
senor doeboy:
I like that idea!
When is the last time in history where a significant Christian community took hostages and threatened to murder them?
And where are the "Friends of Mo and Their Religion of Peace" calling for the immediate release of these innocents?
Indeed, where are the hordes of Peace Loving Muslims rushing to Afganistan to fight these horrible Tablian who "misunderstand Islam?" Right, most Muslims rushing to the area are joining the Taliban, and the so called Moderate Peace Loving Muslims are letting non-believers deal with the Taliban.
This reminds me of how us infidels gave 95% of the money during the 2004 Tsunami that devastated Muslim Indonesia. Muslims speak of peace and we infidels make the peace. Hypocrite thy name is Muslim.
I would release the terrorists, but only after imbedding--without their knowledge--a tiny microchip that could be used to track them.
I know an army doctor in Afghanistan and apparently many terrorists prisoners receive medical treatments-sometimes under sedation.
This uses the same principle as that bug killer that the ants take back to the nest. I thought we tracked our special forces this way, but alas, the last ones (2 of 3) not to be found alive.
And of course they'll cast the blame on those who would not negotiate with terrorists by making them RESPONSIBLE for murdering these 23 prisoners -- because in Islam the other guy is always at fault.
Islam be gone! For good! If the dinosaurs can disappear then so can you.
...and the reverse is true....
If they do decide to negotiate with these terrorist vermin and these 23 lives are spared, then the Taleban will want a hero's welcome and ALL the credit for sparing their lives.
The captors must be part of the tiny minority of extremists I'm always hearing about. Thank goodness the other peaceful followers of Islam are out there protesting this action by the teleban and are working to free the Christians.
senor doeboy, good idea!
Capitalist Gig, I keep wondering why we don't do that sort of tracking anyway? We keep turning the rats loose again in Iraq...why not track them back to the nest??
Dissatisfied with mere blood money, Kaddafi's hostage extortionists now demand new concessions;
Naturally, the extortionists also demand more money; And lest we forget Kaddafi’s real goal, his Scottish lawyers continue pressing for the Lockerbie bomber's release.Terrorism still pays: handsomely.
"Taleban insurgents said that if military action was taken they would kill the hostages."
....ok, we allow them the 24 hours they specify, then we attack...
Islam is for losers...

There working on it. Read about developing nano-tags that can be tracked covertly. Spray them out of a can of "Raid". Very hush-hush.
senor doeboy, if they do as you suggest be sure and invite the media to the executions. Also if they say they will start killing the captives at a specific time have the cameras trained on the Islamic murders as they put there head in the noose. That is how to use the media like they do against us.
The media and the Democrats could save these peoples lives in 5 minutes, by condemning the kidnapping and bringing it to the American public knowledge.
The last thing American muslims want is bad press.
But these peoples lives will be played with as propaganda by the media and Democrats. They will only bring these people to the American public attention once they are killed, and then bring it to the public as evidence of 'Bush foreign policy failure' and 'where ever our military is they are not promoting a safe environment'.
Say, how about a Christians' deadline on the Taliban? Unless the Taliban disarms and surrenders by tea time tomorrow, every able-bodied Christian adult will start carrying a handgun and dealing immediate "justice" out to any Muslim who so much as looks cross-eyed at him?
What's that you say? Christians don't do that sort of thing? It's reserved to the "religion of peace?" So sorry, my bad.

What happens when they stop telling us who they want released most? If it's general collective punishment.....count me in !
They are good sons of God and being heretics they are more christians that many catholics that I know. I pray for them.

Terp Mole, I am not sure if you or others have seen this, but the brave Europeans are claiming victory already for saving the Bulgarian Nurses!
http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,495974,00.html
Disgusting! apparently the EU has a very long way of going before admitting anything!
Also from der Spiegel
"Taleban rebels extended by 24 hours last night a deadline for the execution of 23 South Korean Christians held hostage in southern Afghanistan."
Wouldn't this be a great opportunity for the leadership of CAIR to prove to the world that Islam really is a peaceful and compassionate faith?
Why shouldn't our government ask the CAIR leadership to go to Afghanistan and negogiate the release of these Korean hostages? They could go there and point out to the Taliban that their actions are unIslamic, and maybe give them the old "let there be no compulsion in religion" routine.
How could CAIR possibly refuse a humanatarian request like that, except perhaps that they're afraid that the Taliban would kill them for apostasy, or they think the Koreans deserve what they get for trying to convert Muslims away from Islam?
I would think this would be a fairly easy assignment for CAIR, given the peace nature of Islam.
At any rate, I think it's time CAIR officials put their money where their mouths are.
How do we get this campaign going?
About the Bulgarian Nurses - this is the third time I believe that the nurses have had their sentences commuted from death to life in prison. The Libyans have used to countless trials to ratchet up pressure on the Europeans, and then when the Europeans gave something up, they would draw down pressure. And apparently the EU falls for it every time, and they will fall for it again and again, because they hopelessly transcend history and common sense.
With all this news, Christians and other non muslims should not go to muslims countries, or go at your own peril. and bring a gun.
I know there is no German Mafia, so forget about our criminal underground doing something about the German hostages.. but... what about South Korea.. don't they have a Mafia or something like it that is worth its salt?
If ANYONE Korean is reading this.. STOP your ant-War demos and BEGIN to focus on the ENEMY!!
NOW go OUT there and get BUSY!!
The Korean Mafia ought to be able to do what must be done to ensure their compatriots are released unharmed :-)
I think you get my drift..?
They're Korean Christians. The Korean mafia won't bother.
Koreans, north and south, are tough, not necessarily wise, but tough. They will probably stand their ground, and the terrorists will either kill the hostages or not kill them. If these were North Koreans, and not Christians, Kim would be preparing to invade. Or at least fire off a few missiles.
Both Koreas undountably know who the thugs are, If S Korea stiffens up, we will see what happens next.
Mass murder or a new round of different demands...
I dont think S/N Koreans as a government, or people in general, want Christianity around. These governments embrace nationalism for their religions.
Especially the North. So it is entirely possible that Koreas attitude may be, 'They may be Christians, but they are 'our' Christians, and we want them back. To not give them back alive, and in good health will be seen as an act of war on the PRK. Expect to have all your ships(read that 'mosques) sunk at once'...
just thinking...swami
Actually, Christianity has a significant presence in South Korea-- 26.3% of the population according to the CIA factbook. Korea has seen a lot of missionary activity: Of all places, Pyongyang once was called the "Jerusalem of the East"; Billy Graham's late wife attended school there.
North Korea, where they claim there is religious freedom, but the Kim cult overshadows everything, might express concern (or sympathy if something happens to the hostages) because they're fellow Koreans, and it looks good among their sentiments for reunification.
I thought we beat the Taliban and set up a new Constitution in Afghanistan?
One that guaranteed religious freedom?
Oh, sorry, my mistake.
Upon reading the Afghan Constitution (Article 3, primarily) I find that we conquerors naively allowed clever Muslims to insert de facto Sharia Law into power via this document.
So, if they want to kill Christians for evangelizing, their Constitution defers to Islam.
And especially to the playbook of the medieval pedophile warlord:
The Koran: the world-oldest continuously-functioning meatgrinder.
if the hostages are killed, then twice as many terrorist prisoners should be shot by a firing squad! Two for one.
"if the hostages are killed, then twice as many terrorist prisoners should be shot by a firing squad! Two for one."
Resistance,
Problem is, no one would care. The prisoners would think they where being martyred, and their fellow jihadists would honor them for being martyrs. Both would welcome the honor of dying for Allah.
That method would only work with rational people, and that's not what we're dealing what.
They're Korean Christians. The Korean mafia won't bother.

I guess their inaction so far proves you right.. But I am thinking that maybe.. just maybe.. the rest of the World is taking a long time to figure out just how to react.
Al Q and the other terrorist groups are "stateless" un-official groups.
Who's to say that Westerners or Far Easterners can't organize similar groups?!
I say we can do EVEN BETTER than them!
And I cannot imagine that anyone wishes to see their contrymen slaughtered by a bunch of taleban islamofascists..
See the Mafia helping the USA against the Nazis on the Docks in New York.
I think it can be done again.
Worldwide this time.
I'm surprised to see so little coverage of this in the media. Frankly, this is 23 times bigger than the Kim Sun-il and Abdul Rahman travesties, bigger than the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddha statues. I found nary a word about it on CAIR's website. I find it hard to believe that even the Taliban would, before a worldwide audience, kill 23 peaceful, unarmed hostages who sought only to follow and share their faith and goodwill in a land so hostile to that faith in a way five-sixths of the world would never understand. But if the Taliban did kill them and brazenly defended the act, not only would it be a horrific, unprecedented atrocity, but an immensely huge and shameful stain to the Islamic dawah machine desparately trying to sell its claims of "peace", "non-compulsion", "perfection", etc. to an increasingly skeptical world....one stain that just might be almost impossible to remove.
If these Christians are killed for their faith, the world will be reminded what martyrdom really means: not murdering others as you blow yourself up but non-violently sticking to your faith even if you are killed for it.
Lili,
I doubt if the world will be reminded. The only reminder the world receives about Christians are negative ones. The media ensures that. (Likewise anti Christian bigots).
...virtually everything Christian has been removed from schools, now we see everything Muslim in school being allowed....DIVERSITY, CULTURE EDUCATION.....A DEATH knell is being heard by these old ears....
