A statement by an Islamic group that calls itself the Islamic Emirate of Mosul threatened to kidnap or kill all Christians whether students or employees in Mosul University if they did not leave the university campus in three days.According to the statement that was posted on city streets, the Islamic group threatened as well all Christians living in Mosul to leave the city within three days or the group will behead any Christian who will remain in the city.
The Islamic Emirate of Mosul had killed four Christians living in the al-Sa'aa and al-Yarmook quarters of the right littoral of the city after they were kidnapped and their bodies were found in the Wadi 'Aaqab cemetery. The group had killed as well two Christians who arrived from Hamdaniya District to Mosul where they worked. The said group murdered another female Christian employee of the Iraqi Central Bank in Mosul.
The event will be sponsored by Allah and the tolerant religion of peace.

Elias is absolutely right! Mosul is the rightful capital of an independent Christian Assyria. Of course the US is trying to give it to the Kurds but this is unacceptable. All of northern Iraq and southeast Turkey is historic Assyria. Just like all of northeast Turkey legally belongs to Armenia. It will happen one day. When Russia gets its act together and marches south.

And Condoleeza Rice brags about being a history buff! She may be an expert on the history of the Arctic Circle but she exhibits no knowledge or expertise on Middle Eastern history, a crucially relevant prerequisite to brokering agreements and making policy in this area. The U.S. State Department, with its slew of diplomats, bureaucrats, and administration apointees, appears to be woefully bereft of adequate education about the history of the Middle East and its demographics, culture, minorities, and religions. Our foreign policy in this area reeks of stupidity, ineptitude, and ignorance. Anyone who thinks the history of the Middle East is irrelevant to today's issues is beyond stupid.
It enrages me that our troops are fighting and dying in Iraq for the ungrateful, corrupt, treacherous muslims and doing nothing to protect the indigenous Christians. What a crying shame that our president cares more about Mexicans and muslims than Americans and Christians, not to mention Israel and the Jews. Maybe M.E. foreign policy does revolve around oil but I will never comprehend why we must appease the filthy Saudis to buy their oil. They love money too much to withold the sale of their oil and we should be buying it on our terms, not theirs.

The Pope did mention this to Bush, during Bush's visit to the Vatican on the 9th of June . And this is the outcome that the US administration, putative friend of the Christian right, has allowed?
There will come a time when there will be nowhere to run to. Why should non-Moslems in Iraq be chased from their homes at all? And if they run to the West, where will we all run to when this kind of insanity starts up here in earnest? A line must be drawn against this kind of injustice. Now.

Sadly, I think Rice DOES know M.E. history. The powers that be just don't care. They are too wrapped up in the religion of earthly wealth: Who can make the most money in five years so that they can retire rich. It's the new American way. Ask any Bible Belt Christian who the Assyrians are and most will give you a blank stare. They will refer to some Bible verse but have no clue that these people are being systematically murdered. And then when one gets upset about what is happening they'll give you another blank stare like it's God's plan or it's "supposed to happen" according to the Bible. It just makes me crazy. The press will not cover this...even Fox news. These are the people that should be coming over our borders...but the US policy will let thousands of Saudi students in with their hateful Wahhabist bile. God will remember what we allowed to happen.

Thanks for the link. I don't think that orginization is Anti-Assyrian as they are just using Bible prophesy to say that the anti-christ will be Assyrian. I wonder if there is some tiny spec of Assyrian lineage to the Bush clan!
Interesting use of scripture. I think their mistake is using so much Old Testament prophesy. Christian Fundamenetalists really like to do that. I used to go to a non-denominational fundamentalist church. The prophetic stuff they would come up with was downright bizarre. I finally left them because their dress code was stifling and they could not come to grips with Uniformitarianism. They were really into the Creationist stuff. As a geologist I just could not come to terms with that.
Jesus prefered to keep the message simple and positive: Strive for perfection through Spiritual Love through Jesus Christ. I think this is what draws people to Christianity and keeps them. I think also this truth is what the Muslim ruling classes are so afraid of. Islam is a mindset of unquestioning submission through fear and hate. It is a mindset that perpetuates a whole class of ignorant slaves and cannon fodder to keep the few ruling classes in safety and comfort. Dubai is the best example of this. The fear and hate is so strong that it motivates relatively well off people to do all sorts of evil things: like successful doctors willing to kill themselves so they can perpetrate this message of fear and hate.
All the while the US is ruled by an elite that uses the Chistian right to gain power. The power is then used to further Muslim interests in the West and ignore the true martyrs. God will have more mercy for atheists and most Muslims than these people.
If, instead of the secularists who now rule her, Israel actually followed Torah and obeyed the prophets in the Tanakh, she would ally immediately with the Christian Assyrians and Copts.

Unfortunately, we can't expect corrupt idiots like Olmert to actually read the Bible, much less to be observant of its promises. Nevertheless, I expect that when the situation finally gets desperate, Israel may elect some leaders who act like Jews. Then a new Jewish-Christian alliance will shake the Middle East.

Don't forget that while your ancestors were the people who destroyed the Northern Kingdom of Israel, they were also the same people who repented at the call of the Prophet Jonah. Actually, the Scripture, the Rabbis and the Church Fathers teach that ancient Israel's idolatry and sinfulness is the real cause of her fall. After the fall of Israel, many Assyrians adopted Judaism since there were so many of these exiled Jews now living among them (some even being aborbed into their bloodlines). Later Assyria would become one of the first nations to adopt Christianity.
For this reason, it would be ridiculous for any of our Jewish brothers to still hate Assyria. Clearly the holy Prophet Isaiah forsaw that Assyria and Israel, along with the Copts (the real Egyptians) would become blessings to each other. Let's pray that Israel's leaders wake up to this. Yes, Isaiah's words are a promise, but they are also a command: "On that day Israel SHALL be a third party with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the land, when the LORD of hosts blesses it." If Jews and Middle Eastern Christians will act on this, they all will be blessed together. God always keeps His promises.
