I like the idea of being able to hear someone present their defense of Islam in an intelligent manner where I might be able to understand that ISLAM is not something to be feared. I hope "Rage Boy" does not make that list of debaters.

Being from the old South and in my 60s, I think the strategy of showing the truth about the believers and of Islam, mocking it especially with humor, showing the beliefs and the ignorance of believing many of Moha teachings (not all)will eventually bring down the hatred the radicals have for the rest of the human race.

George Walker Bush is the person most responsible for spreading the myth that Islam is the Religion of Peace. In his address to Congress on 9/20/01 he told this a stunned nation looking for understanding as to what had just happened to them days before on 9/11. And he repeated that silly proposition a few weeks ago in a Wash. D.C. mosque.
9/20/01 was the first time I heard use of the phrase "hijacked a religion". All kinds of people these days repeat the phrase about the how extremists who "hijacked a religion" and how Islam is a religion of peace. How many citizens went further to examine these statements to see if they were true? How many still believe this becuase of what he said? They, like me, believed their president and did not bother to find out on independently why they really hate us. Many of us had to investigate that on our own, becuase, well, all those "hijackers" just seemed to be multiplying and showing up in so many different events, and in so many different locations worldwide.
If there were anyone with a moral, political, or even consitutional obligation to defend that statement, it would be, George Walker Bush.

Nowadays we hear from the non-Muslim world about the moderate version of Islam and moderate Muslims. In my view, being a Muslim and not being radical is simply not possible. I never thought that it would be easy to reason with Muslims. They don't understand that freedom has a price. Freedom lets a person make choices and be up-front about it. And that's where I part with those who would prefer to be sheep and have sheepdogs hem them in.
Many non-Muslims are obviously very well-meaning with regard to Islam, but they are also extremely naïve and ignorant of the facts. They seem to think that Islam is just another religion of love and peace and Muslims should be given full freedom to practice their religion. Do they also believe that thieves, misogynists, rapists, child-molesters and any and all manner of practicing evils should be given complete carte blanche to carry on with what they value and believe? These well-meaning simpletons are just as deluded as the fanatic jihadists by refusing to acknowledge the fact that one cannot be a Muslim and not abide by the dictates of the Quran.
There is no such thing as moderate Islam. There is no such thing as secular Islam or a secular Muslim. How can you possibly secularize a shark or a snake? You can’t. It’s the nature of the beast. There are numerous sects within Islam. One and all are extremes and not in the least amenable to change. Keep in mind that Islam claims that it is the perfect eternal faith for mankind. Splits have occurred and will continue to occur in Islam. Yet, reformation has not happened in nearly 1400 years and is not going to happen. Islam is carved in granite, just the way it is. No change. Allah's book is sealed.
There are indeed some Muslims who are moderate in the way they practice their religion. These people, for the most part, are culturally Muslims. They don't practice Islam the way it is mandated. They pick and choose. Therefore, "moderate Islam," is no Islam at all. It is not possible. The only way to deal with the menace of real Islam, the Islamofascist varieties, is to fully dismantle it and relegate it to the confines of museums.
I did e-mail this Arabic Christian group from the link provided and suggest that Robert Spencer, an Islamic scholar, be invited to speak.
Basically, they want MUSLIM Islamic scholars who will defend Islam as a "religion of peace." I bet they get none as even they, Muslim Islamic scholars, know that the indefensible cannot be properly defended, and that this Arabic Christian group is thoroughly knowledgeable concerning "taqiyya."
I guess they need to do this for public exposure, but they don't need to prove anything to me, I am already conviced that Islam is not a religion of peace, or even a religion at all. Islam is as Islam doe's. There is little 'peaceful' about what they 'do'.

OK. I'm inclined to agree. Let's presume we have proven the above, beyond a shadow of a doubt. My question is, now what? What's the program? How do we fix it? What steps do we take... what concrete actions... how to get around the First Amendment... People will freak if we say we have to suspend the First -- though I guess we can pass some further Amendment to clarify that it does not apply to Islam -- we'll look really bad. (Not that I care a hoot what we look like of course, I'd rather we survive with our way of life intact...)

Robert this is a golden opportunity. If no other muslim scholar shows up, you play devil's advocate. You argue, under the alias of Mohammad al-Spencer, with your beard and middle eastern swarthy complexion, that islam is a religion of peace but do such a bang up job of it, that it leaves even the ACLU scratching their heads.

The first thing we do, Goob, is to declare Jihad Islamism a poltical ideology, one that is officially at war with America. Then we can deal with it as we did any other enemy.
The first amendment of the Constitution does not guarantee freedom of speech to those who call "Fire!" in a theater. Neither does it give rights to those who are intent upon killing innocents, or those who recruit others to do so. We need to kick out the jihadis, legislate against teaching murder in mosques.
The thugs from CAIR will be there to call the organizers of this event bigots and islamophobes. I have been thinking about this and wondering how the muslims are going to put forth their strategy by what person(s) they will be sending.
I think at least one will be a woman, who will be well spoken, but look very virginal when her eyes look out from her scarved head. She will not flirt, but will flirt, with her eyes. She will convince the big, bad white males that she is indeed free, she is indeed held to high esteem, blah blah blah.
The man/men will be not the usual dark-eyed, cruel looking muslim male that we see with a beard and so easily characterized as ranting muslims. They will speak softly, but manly, and ensure that they do not overspeak their female.
They will ensure there are no rioters there. I wrote in a previous post that it will be full of rioters - but I think they will control those since that will just show the world their violent natures.
I hope that someone will bring up the fact that all the hotspots around this globe are of muslim initiated, the slaughters of infidel innocents, and ALSO the fact that they are bombing continually in Israel and use their own dead as propaganda. The fact that the israelis will treat them in hospitals while the opposite is not true. And that their own prophet did all the despicable deeds that their jihadists do - except kill himself.
I wish I could go. I bite at the bit until the day I can retire and be free to just take a couple day trip to places such as this.

I seem to recall a Muslim quoted as saying there was no freedom of religion in the US when I was watching Fox News this weekend.
He stated (I'm paraphrasing) "How can you call it freedom of religion? If I cannot push for Sharia and the overthrow/overhaul of the Constitution/government, how is that freedom of religion?"

Heh. At least the rumblings are occurring in California. That state is so far Left, its almost left America, for the most part, and ANYTHING that will break through the haze of misinformation and taqqiya/dhimmitude that suffuses almost all of the main media outlets in the major cities on the West Coast is a good thing. I've been feeling a little like Cassandra in Troy, so any voices raised in protest of our Islamification are welcome additions to the chorus.
If anything, we need more people than ever before holding conferences, running meetings, and teaching the public of the horrible danger we now face.
We can't count on our main media outlets to do this accurately, and more of America is starting to see that. The one thing the sane amongst us have going for us is that the jihadists scream their hatred of us right to our faces, and eventually that noise makes it through the toughest of skulls.
