Most of the body's vitamin D - which prevents rickets - is obtained through sunlight acting on the skin. Only a little comes from food.
Doctors told a London conference today that people with dark pigment are at risk because of "cultural reasons" and because they are less efficient at producing the vitamin.
The bone disorder rickets has now broken out in young Muslim children as babies are not getting enough calcium from mothers' breast milk.
The National Health Service is launching a campaign aimed at Muslim women, particularly Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Somalis, to encourage them to increase their vitamin D intake.

Mind you, vitamin D deficency is probably one of the minor problems in being a Muslim woman, given how women are treated in that "religion." If the woman can make it through the genital mutilation, beatings from her husband, the threat of an honor killing for anything one of her derranged male relatives can imagine, I'm sure vitamin D deficency is like a pimple to them.
Every time I see a woman in Islamic dress I pity her for having the misfortune to be trapped in the hell on Earth of Islam.

There was also an element of the acceptance of suffering, as the more voluminous outfits were openly recognized to be uncomfortable and limiting (not "freeing" and "dignifying," as claimed for the Muslim costume).
Most nuns don't wear such clothing any longer as a matter of choice. In any event, nuns certainly weren't forced to wear it on pain of beatings, rape, acid thrown in their faces, honor killings, or murder.
Could this be one of the weapons we have to use against Islam? I mean, now that we know how damaging the burqua is, can we start a public service campaign to encourage the wearing of the Burqua and all other accessories? The other differences between Catholic nun's habits and Muslim burqas is that nuns wore these habits as a sacrifice as part of their submitting to the rule of their order, an order they voluntarily chose to enter and submit to, and they don't expect anyone else to wear one and they don't force anyone else to become a nun. The same thing can't be said for Muslim burqas. Once Islam decides to go into a country and take over (think Hamas in Jerusalem) then everybody must follow the Islamic prescription...or else!

Referring to the "hijab", while showing a picture of the "niqab" creates confusion. Probably the more general connotation of "hijab" refers to covering all but the face and hands, while the "niqab" always covers the face and quite often the hands as well.
So the question is - while by default, as the study is presented, the "niqab" obviously creates a Vitamin D risk, it remains unclear, the way this is presented, whether exposing just the face and hands (the hijab), does or does not provide sufficient Vitamin D.
This needs to be clarified.
It is also interesting to consider climate. Muslim female garb (whether hijab or niqab) originated in a climate that was closer to the equator and perhaps less skin exposure (including even the more radical niqab) could still ensure an adequate exposure of Vitamin D. The same can obviously not be said for the northern climates of Europe which get a lot less sun.
Which means either that Allah was wrong about the way women should dress, or that Muslims have been mistaken in attempting to universalize something (i.e. their religion, with all its laws) that should never have been universalized in the first place and they should simply go back home, where they can practice their desert religion in peace, and without risking their women's health.
Something I would add about women's dress, where the Koran's injunctions are concerned (especially about covering everything but the face and hands), is that it is historical nonsense to equate skin exposure with sexuality. While there may be something to be said about covering the head alone in the desert (to prevent sunstroke), by far the vast majority of women in blistering equatorial societies throughout history - in the tropics of South America, or Africa, or the Pacific Islands, have walked about half-naked. And there was no shame in doing so. Their nudity, befitting such climates, was not sexualized. So Islam is positively abherent in this regard, in equating women in hot climates showing any skin, with loose sexual morals. It is simply not normal, and is downright cruel, to expect women to cover virtually every part of their bodies in that climate, whether the intense sunlight does or does not provide enough Vitamin D to the remaining exposed skin. Islam betrays a deep sickness and misogyny, relative to other cultures which have and still do face similar climates, in sexualizing what is otherwise regarded as an entirely natural exposure of women's skin in such circumstances.

They seem to have something labeled as:
Taqiyya ~ A round, sewn cotton cap. It is often embellished with embroidery.
I believe this isn't what Taqiyya is, but then is so hard to really pin down Taqiyya now isn’t it.
Also one of the reasons women in middle eastern wear the niqab, a hijab, a burqha, an Iranian chador or a jilbab. Is because in these cultures with out them you are considered a public woman, and all men that meet you can pay for your “favor” or take it as they wish. And since you need 4 witness for rape (8 witness if they are other women) well, it just makes since for self-protection.
But here in the west, it’s a statement by these women that they have given their men permission or accepted this behavior on the streets of your city. This comes down to the statement they view all western women as worthless and to be used by their men as it pleases them.
Every Nijab is a statement of the fact they demand Sharia Law, not just for themselves. But you too!
Allah does seem to hate muslims. He passed on to muhammad all of the amazing scientific data that is in the qur'an but didn't mention rickets. He also forgot to warn muslims about the perils of incest and intermarriage but made it clear that defective babies are cursed. The innocent bear the brunt of islam's cruelty.
I know I may sound callous but Muslimas suffering from a deficiency of vitamin D is not a reason for hope or worry. Now if wearing full nijab made them sterile, that would be a reason to celebrate.

And hijab-wearing women have skin on their faces too. I see plenty of them walking out in public, so I have to assume they're getting as much vitamin D as nuns who wear full habits. If you're going to condemn hijabs on that score, then you have to condemn habits for exactly the same reason and to exactly the same extent. (Please note that I haven't said a word about any other reasons for condemning hijabs.)
