Fitzgerald: The communications jihad

"Another example of how the ease of modern communications makes the spread of jihad easy also, for now jihadists can penetrate into areas of the Muslim world where the jihad ideology had lain dormant for considerable periods." -- from Robert Spencer's comment on this article

Technological advances made by Infidels, but then appropriated by Muslims, allow the latter to disseminate not some made-up texts, but the actual texts of Islam, those that pertain most directly to the Jihad. That includes those texts about the Jihad using the instrument of qitaal, or combat. This is the version that Infidels have no trouble describing as "terrorism" and that for many Muslims is perfectly licit, given both their quite narrow definition of Infidel "civilians" and their willingness to describe suicide bombers as not really committing suicide (which is not licit in Islam) but merely as conducting combat operations that may very likely lead to their death. The Jihad, so central to Islam, manages to justify a great deal.

But technology, remember, is made more readily available where there is enough prosperity for television sets, or cassette players, or for towers to be built. Or for an Internet message to get through -- that requires access to the Internet. In other words, the poorest villagers, in the most remote places, leading their hardscrabble existence, are the least likely to be a problem. But as soon as the wonders of modern (Infidel) technology arrive, things change.

Furthermore, there is one aspect of technology -- the revolution in transportation -- that also helps to disseminate the message of those conducting Jihad through violent means. Jihad conducted through any means, through Da'wa, through demographic conquest, is a danger, and in the long run far more dangerous to Infidel well-being than these acts of terrorism, but in order to recognize them as a danger, one must first be willing or able to comprehend their use, quite conscious use, as instruments to further Jihad, which itself is a "struggle" to spread Islam, not until it covers the globe, but until it dominates the globe, and Muslims rule, everywhere. That is the desired, that is the obvious, that is the natural end point. And whether it happens or not (one cannot imagine China, Japan, Korea, sturdier, more aware of their own pasts and cultures, succumbing to Islam) it is the state of permanent war between Believers and Infidels, one mandated by Islam -- though open warfare need only be conducted when conditions are right, and ripe. It is advancing today against those who seem most vulnerable -- psychically and economically marginal individuals and groups. And it is advancing because of that blend of willful ignorance and deliberate sentimentalism that characterizes, today, those who would presume to instruct and protect us.

The ability to send out the full message of Islam, with the special effects of the day, has indeed been damaging: those endless scenes of Arab "martyrs" and their deeds of derring-do, as this Humvee is seen being blown up, and then this one, or as the Twin Towers are shown as they crumble, or this or that hapless Infidel is spurtingly decapitated, and all to the sound of Arab war-cries and monotonous music, designed to thrill the would-be Jihadists everywhere. And then there are the endless pictures, the propaganda about American or Israeli or British or Thai or Filipino or Indian or (Your-Infidel-Here) supposed atrocities, with emphasis on blood, women and children, the whole thing.

Just imagine if the Nazi propaganda machine, which managed to take over all of Germany, had had the instruments now available -- had had the Internet -- for Goebbels and his associates to work their sinister magic, to people all over the world, in a dozen or perhaps two dozen languages.

And there is one other technological revolution that makes things quite different, and much more dangerous for Infidels. It is the communication and transportation revolution, the great ease with which Muslims, living in, and perhaps even being citizens of, this or that Infidel nation-state, but being able, as they could not, say, fifty years ago, to keep in constant touch by telephone with other Muslims in Muslim lands -- especially those that they or their parents may have come from. And then there is the ability to travel back and forth, as hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis, some of them British citizens no doubt in the most limited, formal passport sense, do every year. They travel back to good old Pakistan to take a wife, or dump an old one, to refresh yearly their contact with the Old Sod -- the Old Sod in question being a place where Al Qaeda is protected, where A.Q. Khan the nuclear thief ("Father of the Islamic Bomb") lives in luxury safe from prying American investigators. And Lashkar Jihad, and Lashkar-e-Toiba, and Sipaha-e-Sahaba and a hundred other groups are there on the ground to see that justice is done.

Yet what is the position of the American and other Western governments? It is to "end poverty" and to build up, with roads, with all kinds of transportation and communication infrastructure, the very places which, as soon as they get it, will now be even more vulnerable to Arab Muslim propaganda. Will the Afghani villages as yet untouched by the Internet or satellite television become more, or less, fanatically Muslim when the Americans, in their heedless haste and waste (in Iraq, in Afghanistan, everywhere) proceed to brightly march in and bring with them as much as they can of advanced technology? Will those who think it is a splendid idea to present every little boy and girl in the backward world with a brand-new computer, and a very nice Internet connection to go with it, give a thought to what is now going to be available on that computer?

Don't even think about it, we are told. Or rather, the question is not even raised. It is not even raised about sub-Saharan Africa, where we assume that those negroponte-ish (the other Negroponte) computers can only do good. But if such gift-horses bring with them, inadvertently, the "gift" of Islam, what Infidel, knowing what Islam does to stunt mental and moral growth (and the defectors or apostates from Islam know this perfectly well), would support such endeavors?

Oh, not to worry, some say, because little Muslims will naturally reject that, thanks to mindless Infidels. They will merely be tapping their feet to "High School Musical Part I" or possibly "High School Musical Part II." Don't be silly.

There's no question Islamists have mastered communications technology and have used it well to spread their message and coordinate their activities. And here is where unity of purpose, the determined efforts to spread Islam have really borne fruit.

It's not that the West is losing the propaganda war, except for a few places here and there, like this and other Counterjihad websites, the West hasn't even begun to fight. Great article as usual, Hugh.

And that is why the mission of Robert Spencer is the most important on the planet.

In your face direct from the 7th century.

Well it works both ways, - O jihadi, Ibrahim (aka Fibrahim), - there is no place to hide,no seven veils which cant be penetrated, you can run but you cannot hide.

This goes for the coward Dems as well.

History will not wait.

Naseem told me on this site, that muslims don't need to invent anything, the west does it for them.
That's one of her more accurate statements, we sure do. I suppose it is a natural phenomena, when you see something you like or can use, you want it.
The west, and human nature, are contaminating these people if you look at it in the context of, 'I can get all I need, or I need all I can get'. Islam encourages non-materialism, to shun anything that gets muslims distracted from their worship of Allah, and actions in his behalf. But, they are not exactly purists in that respect. Those that live in the jungle or desert tents, are more likely to be materialistic purists. Not by choice, but by conditions. If all you have, and can get, is a dirt floor and a some falafel for lunch, you might as well be non materialistic and turn to religious beliefs for some kind of hope. But even then, most of them are illiterate, so it takes at least one reader and one Quran to establish Islam in that place. The rest of them are wide open to western contamination. And they will use these impliments against us. Thats what Naseem does
with her semi-Islamic 'wuslam' propaganda.
John Q Adams, in the writtings that were recently posted, was dead on right. Had it been up to him, he would give these people nothing. He understood the concept of NOT aiding and abbetting your own demise. Somewhere along the line, this concept got lost with western govs...give these people an inch and they will take a mile, give them a hand, they will take your arm, oppose them and they will take your life. Rattlesnakes are an act of nature on Gods green Earth, but I would advise you not to shake hands with one...

They are using all the techniques outlined by Goebbels(and Hitler in Mein Kampf). Even that small scale Goebbels (Fibrahim Hooper) is using provocative incidents (as Goebbels recommended) to create an image of "victim" which is used to create sympathy among the "weaklings", as well as incite "stupid" supporters (as Goebbels called them), intimidate opposition, silence opposition. And let's not forget the "barrage of lies and slander" directed at Robert and the lauding of the media "weaklings" (as Hitler recommended) for their fairness and intelligence as the truth reller is destroyed.

It is interesting that Goebbels in his "total war" speech of 1943 (look at the cheering Nazis in the newsreels) walked off the stage and said to his entourage, "What idiocy. If I told them to jump off the building, they would have done it". (My memory of the quote is close and is in Shirer's Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.) The whole process was well thought then, and well thought out now.

I'll bet the Psychotic in Iran (a 5'3" runt like Goebbels), as well as many Muslims like him, are as familiar with Goebbels and Mein Kampf as they are with the Quran.

Goebbles said propaganda did not have to be truthful or even intelligent, all it had to be was "effective". That was the standard he used.

This reminds me of that annoyingly catchy commerical from awhile ago--I think it was for Nextel (cell phones).

I don't remember the details--it is is all very "United Colors of Benneton"--images of things like a hip young businessman at the Great Wall of China, a young child playing soccer along a dusty street in Central America, a well-dressed woman stepping off a high-speed train somewhere in Europe, a colorfully-dressed Buddhist monk in a monestery. At one point each of these people turn toward the camera and ask, "Are you ready?".

Of course, it is meant to be rather uplifting--here comes the world! Are you ready?

Well, of course, they should have included a few other images, too--a jihadi propagandist sitting in an internet cafe in Islamabad, perhaps, or a fiery Imam at the Finsbury mosque, or some member of Al-Qieda in Iraq using that beautifully designed slim cell phone to detonate an IED.

Are you ready?

Watch it all..

Allahfanculo-

Maybe reincarnation is real and Hitler is back as a rapper "victim".

We gave the backward terrorists high technology.

And we thought they would use it for good?

Who is crazier, the homicidal psychopath or the one who ignorantly arms him?

Concerning the communications jihad--I am very curious to learn about any links or connection between Al-Jazeera and the Muslim Brotherhood.

I think that would explain a great deal to me.

I hope any knowledgeable sources will soon reveal any such ties for the benefit of people like me.

"Tunisian Reformist Intellectual: Al-Jazeera TV – A Mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood

In an article posted July 29, 2006 on the reformist website Elaph, Tunisian intellectual Dr. Khaled Shawkat, director of the Netherlands-based Center for Promoting Democracy in the Arab World, attacked Al-Jazeera TV because, he says, it has become the mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood. [1]

The following are excerpts from his article:

"Al-Jazeera has Become [a Channel] Affiliated With a Political, Religious, and Ideological Organization [i.e. the Muslim Brotherhood]"
"I am convinced that the special status attained by the Qatari Al-Jazeera channel in the Arab and international media is based on the fact that in its early years, it dealt persistently with issues of democracy and human rights in the Arab world, dared to discuss things not spoken of in Arab politics, and exposed the disgrace of the violations and misconduct of the Arab regimes. I am also convinced that Al-Jazeera has in recent years abandoned this direction, for many reasons, and that its current administration is trying to preserve the channel's popularity by distorting Arab public opinion, [which it achieves] by stirring up emotion on sensitive regional issues, such as Palestine, Iraq, and Afghanistan...

"My renewed interest in Al-Jazeera stems from the fact that, in my view, Al-Jazeera was an historic opportunity for advancing democracy in the Arab world... and that this opportunity is being lost, if it is not lost already, just as many other opportunities have been missed by the Arabs...

"Al-Jazeera's current media direction is no longer to aspire to compete with the BBC or CNN in professionalism, independence, and courage; rather, it has become [a channel] affiliated with a political, religious, and ideological organization that strives to spread its views amongst the Arab public..."

At Al-Jazeera, "Loyalty has Come to Supersede Qualifications"
"Al-Jazeera has been hijacked by the Muslim Brotherhood organization - either at the wish of the channel's owners as part of a certain political game [played] by the Qatari rulers, or out of the lack of awareness of the Qatari rulers, who think that the situation is under control and that even though they have given the Muslim Brotherhood a chance to control Al-Jazeera, for local, regional, and international considerations, they can get rid of them or restrain them any time they want...

"Anyone with professional qualifications is entitled to work, to gain prominence, to create, and to become famous, regardless of his personal beliefs. Therefore, I have never had any problem with the fact that media personnel known for their Islamic tendencies work for Al-Jazeera or for any other channel. The problem emerges when the criterion of qualifications becomes less important than the criterion of loyalty [to a particular group], and when the [channel's] editorial and media line... become hostage to an agenda that is not a media [agenda], but rather the party [line] or political [line] of a small group...

"Prior to writing this article, I spoke with a number of journalists at Al-Jazeera, [both] known and unknown, some of whom still worked there and some of whom had been forced, or decided, to quit. Most of them agreed that 'loyalty' [to a group] had come to supersede 'qualifications,' and that journalists with no Muslim Brotherhood background had to choose one of two options: [either] adapt to the new work conditions and swear loyalty to the representative of the supreme guide [of the Muslim Brotherhood] at Al-Jazeera, or leave...

"Many chose to adapt to the Muslim Brotherhood's administrative conditions, and each found his own way to satisfy the imam. There were those whom Allah finally guided to prayer; there's the woman whom Allah guided to don the hijab... and there are those whose [TV] programs became more enthusiastic about the Muslim Brotherhood's slogans... than the organization leaders themselves...

"Those who have followed Al-Jazeera's programming in recent months have undoubtedly noticed that guests from the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood have taken over [the scene], [blocking] guests from the leadership of [other] political movements [from speaking] - to the extent that three or four Muslim Brotherhood members sometimes appear on a single news program, as if it were impossible to properly analyze and assess political events in the Arab world except via the outlook of the leaders of the group that takes the righteous way and is guided [by Allah, i.e. the Muslim Brotherhood]..."

The Producer Did Not Let Me Speak "Because He Felt That I had Criticized Al-Jazeera"

"A few weeks ago, I was a guest on Al-Jazeera's Behind the News program, to respond to the affair of Dutch MP 'Ayaan Hirsi Ali. I was the main guest on the program, because I was the only commentator [speaking] from the scene. But I was surprised that I was the only one stopped from making concluding statements, and also that my name was omitted from the list of the program's guests in the version posted on the Al-Jazeera website. A friend who had been in the program's control room told me that the producer had instructed the host not to let me speak again, because he felt that I had criticized Al-Jazeera in my opening statements...

"At [Al-Jazeera, employees are] no longer appointed based on qualifications, but [based on] agreed-upon selections, or [are selected by] one of the [Muslim Brotherhood] leaders. Based on what I was told by a friend inside the station, nearly 80% of the station's recent appointees - particularly in the production and the editing [departments] - are Muslim Brotherhood members or are close to movements [affiliated with] the Muslim Brotherhood. Appointments based on considerations of loyalty [to the Muslim Brotherhood] are even made in the management bodies of new professional departments which Al-Jazeera has decided to launch in the near future. The appointees have no professional expertise in the [relevant] fields [but are chosen for their affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood].

"Recently, a joke [has been going around] that explains the delay in launching the English Al-Jazeera International channel: The British director is refusing to swear loyalty to the supreme guide of the Muslim Brotherhood...

"I hope that Al-Jazeera will return to its origins [encouraging democracy and human rights], and that the era of being hijacked [by the Muslim Brotherhood] will not last much longer..."

Neither the Arab Regimes nor the Arab Opposition Have Internalized the Essence of Democracy

In an article published several days later, Dr. Khaled Shawkat discussed the enraged responses he had received regarding his article about Al-Jazeera, particularly the responses from Islamist activists. He wrote that the Islamist activists had cursed him roundly and accused him of treason and of collaborating with the Zionist-American attack on the Muslim nation. From the reactions he received, Dr. Shawkat drew several conclusions:

"First... The democratic culture in the Arab and Islamic world is still extremely fragile and superficial, since the accusations of treason and of intelligence collaboration with foreign elements are rooted not only in the existing Arab regimes, but also among the opposition. I do not know how people who have been expelled from their land, or arrested and tortured because of similar accusations against them, can agree so easily, with the stroke of a pen, to direct [such accusations] against anyone who disagrees with their views...

"Second... [Attempts at] self-purification by supporting Iraq, Palestine, and other miserable countries is characteristic not only of the ruling regimes or of the intellectuals connected to them, but is also customary among those who want to lay claim to false acts of heroism. Al-Jazeera, which is no longer capable of courage in the face of many Arab governments, can emerge from its embarrassment only by showing heroism in other arenas that allow free [action]...

"Third... [From the Muslim point of view], when there is a regional or international crisis, life must stop, and the critics and commentators must refrain from engaging in [all other] matters. Anyone who dares to raise an issue not on the agenda... becomes part of the American-Zionist conspiracy... Since Al-Jazeera covers crisis after crisis [in the Arab world]... it is obligatory always to be silent, and never to criticize..." [2]

Muslims cast a foul pall on everything our society has created through their exploitation of our legal system, welfare system, school system, and internet, to name a few. Their presence in our countries is a blight on our societies, not a beneficial contribution to the unwanted multiculturalism so revered by the elites and despised by the people. They have done nothing but pollute and sully our cities and towns, and exploit and insult our citizenry. With every muslim immigrant comes the islamic baggage; hate, supremacy, intolerance, sedition, the culture of victimhood, and the duplicitous, deceitful, mendacious ethos spawned by islam. They also bring their hideous, archaic culture of misogyny, polygamy, sloth and attitude of entitlement. I cannot think of one single positive contribution made by muslims to society in general, not one! All they do is demand, accuse, besmirch the people and country they voluntarily chose to live in, and threaten us with terrorism, litigation, and endless demands for special privileges. I wonder how many lawyers have become filthy rich on the Saudi money that pays them to relentlessly sue American companies and American citizens on behalf of useless, worthless, arrogant, supremacist muslim bums.

Muslims, like the most tenacious parasites, suck the life blood out of every society they invade. They are like a deadly scourge that left untreated, wreaks catastrophic destruction. I'm ready to deal with this plague now and get it over with. We can't dump this mess on our children and grandchildren; it must be addressed and resolved.

Speaking of rattlesnakes, I almost stepped on a huge one out by the garage tonight. He was stretched out, not coiled, had six rattlers and measured 4'9". He's dead now. Muslims do share some rattlesnake traits, especially its propensity for inflicting unexpected pain and death.

Are you ready?

Well, yeah. And I do have pretty mixed feelings about some of the gaudier examples of pornography. But except for cases of forced prostitution or the involvement of the Russian Mafia, say, there isn't usually a lot of violence connected with it.

I don't really live in fear of the minions of Hugh Hefner or Larry Flynt blowing themselves up in Times Square to protest the closing of XXX theatres.

Hey, after hearing that British jihadi talk about how viewing beheading videos is "the best use" of cell phones, porn starts to sound pretty good!
