TEL AVIV – Hamas-linked militants kidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam a female Christian professor in the Gaza Strip, according to the professor's family and officials from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization.Hamas members denied the accusations, accusing rival Fatah of spreading lies even though the professor, Sana al-Sayegh of Gaza City's Palestine International University, has indicated she was converted against her will.
Sayegh, head of the university's Science and Technology Department, disappeared June 24, failing to show up at work where she serves as the Gaza Strip's only female doctorate in her field.
After several days, co-workers and Sayegh's parents informed Gaza security officials of the professor's disappearance.
According to sources close to her family, about five days after she disappeared Sayegh caller her parents to say she was being held against her will in order to marry a Muslim man, who was also a professor at the university.
Sayegh's family declined to speak to WND directly, explaining interviews about the matter could endanger the professor.
"Sayegh said she couldn't talk," said a source. "It was very clear she had been abducted and was made to do things she didn't want to do."
A few days later, the family said it received a copy of a conversion document certifying Sayegh had become a Muslim. The document was signed by two witnesses, as required. One witness was Zaher Khail, president of the Palestine International University, who, according to Palestinian security officials is an Islamist close with Gaza-based terror groups, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
Fatah officials say Khail assisted in kidnapping Sayegh, whose family stated she would "never" convert willingly to Islam. Fatah officials also accused Hamas leaders directly of overseeing Sayegh's "forced" conversion.
What happened to this woman has happened countless imes in the Islamic world. All one has to do is read about the persecution of Copts in Egypt to know how incideous our enemies are. What happened to this woman will happen to others if people in the rest of the world get their heads out of the stand and start acting against the threat to their freedom before it is too late.

Oh, that's right, it was earlier than the sura which which reads "drag off infidel women, marry (meaning rape) them and force them to become Muslims." All the later rulings in the Qu'ran were probalby not Mohammed's, but they carry more weight, since Islam "jurists" abrogate earlier pronouncements with later ones.

This is the long standing process in Islam that should be known as covert rape. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they call it marriage. Now Muslims complain about the scandalous ways women behave and are treated in the west. But if some guy approaches a woman in the west and she's not interested, the majority of the time she can say, "no thanks", and that's the end of that. In Muslim countries there's no such thing. If a Muslim man is rejected he merely has to get the old gang of Imams together, they go kidnap the unfortunate lady, threaten her family or whatever is most dear to her and force her to "marry" the guy so he can screw her. And then she has the same non rights as every other Muslim woman. Calling it "marriage" merely gives a convenient cover for the rape.
They can force her to submit to rape but they can't force her to accept their aberrated belief system. No western woman in her right mind would voluntarily accept that B.S.

I suppose Professor Sayegh forgot to pay her jizya, and so her status as "protected" lapsed. Or was she behaving in a sufficiently non-humiliated, non-deferential manner? Or was it simply because a Muslim male decided he wanted a second or third wife who could pull in some cash income as well as service him sexually on demand?

Is this Palestine International University is on the list to receive some of the millions of dollars that Secretary Rice has promised to hand out recently? I really feel bad for this professor, whom I am sure was the pride and joy of her family. Three years from now, she will probably have two babies, another one on the way, endure regular beatings from her husband and insults from his female relatives and a job selling dried fish to help pay for another Muslim child, conceived from repeated rapes. The silence from the academic community will be deafening.

This is just one more reason that Israel needs to set up and train a Palestinian Christian militia to fight Hamas. It should be based on the Lebanese Christian Falange (Kataeb) of the 1980s. Then this "Kataeb Filistin" should be given carte blanche to retaliate against any abuses by the Muslims.

I could be wrong, but I believe the founder of the Phalange was Pierre Gemayal, father of two Lebanese Presidents. Alongside former Pres. Camille Choumoun's National Liberal Party, the Phalange represented a strong anti-dhimmi Christian component in Lebanon dating all the way back to the 1940s.
Palestine's situation is entirely different. The Christian population has been so thoroughly dhimmified after Oslo that Israel would be hard-pressed to find willing participants in such a militia.
The Lebanese Christians have a devotion to Mount Lebanon that has allowed them to brave decades of Civil War and Syrian occupation, while the Christians of the Holy Land seem to have opted for a strategy of capitulation and mass exodus. Why such a contrast? Simple. One population embraced the historic requirements of dhimmitude (to no avail, of course), the other was willing to fight.

It is inaccurate to stereotype the Holy Land Christians as dhimmified. In the past, with some justification, many Christians felt themselves to be trapped in the middle between Jews and Muslims, neither of whom gave a damn about them. The Christians have always known what exactly the Muslims were about while the Israelis foolishly did many things that understandibly alienated the Christian population.
This goes all the way back to the 1948 War for Independence when the Haganah wrongly classified all non-Jews as just Arabs regardless of their religion or ethnicity. The Haganah's 1948 forced depopulation of the Christian towns of Kafr Bir'im and Iqrit is the most glaring example. This is an outrage that has still not been corrected, although the Likud and especially former P.M. Menachem Begin, did try unsuccessfully to correct this injustice.
On the other hand, the heroic fighters of the Irgun, carefully distinguished between Muslim Arabs and Christians which was later reflected in Begin's attempts to bring justice to the Christians of the Galil. As a result, if you look at who the indigenous Christians with Israeli citizenship actually vote for, with the wrongheaded exception of voting for Barak, they have been some of Likud's most loyal constituents.
On the other hand Commie Idiots like Member of Knesset Azmi Bishara were elected by Muslims and got almost no Christian votes. Of course the leftist media always focuses on dhimmi spokespeople like Hanan Ashrawi and Bishara instead of looking at who the majority of Christians actually support.
Now with the Muslim population explosion and the rise of Hamas, coupled with the current Islamic destruction of historic Christian cities like Bethlehem, Nazareth, and Ramallah, Israel has an opportunity to promote real leadership for the Palestinian Christian community. They shouldn't squander this opportunity.
Unfortunately, as long as Israel is let by completely dhimmified Islamo-jews like Ehud Olmert, I don't hold out much hope.

Again, who does the average Christian Palestinian have to speak for him. The Left finances groups like Sabeel while the majority are just hoping to save what little they still have. Because so many of their parents lost everything, they are understandibly hesitant to bank on Israel. I'm not just referring to 1948. It was the Christian small property owners who suffered the most from then Mayor Olmert's corrupt real-estate schemes. Besides, Israeli policies have consistently favoured the Muslims over the Christians. Why?
Palestinian Christians are in a really hard situation. During the Ottoman period they were oppressed, but at least they knew that their co-religionists in Europe and America were on their side. Now, however, because Evangelical Christians so vocally and reflexively support Israel while ignoring any Christians who are Orthodox, Melkite, or Catholic, and since the Palestinian Nationalist movements, icluding Fatah, are so dominated by Islamists, they feel themselves to be ground between two millstones.
Beyond this, every time the Christians did reach out to Israel, they were ignored or betrayed. After the '67 war, Bethlehem mayor Elias Freij literally begged Israel to annex the Christian cities of Bethlehem and Ramallah. For this, he was rebuffed and humilated by Israel. The current Melkite Archbishop of Nazareth Elias Chacour(himself, one of the expellees from Kfir Birim) as well as his predecessor, the late Joseph Raya ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Raya ), repeatedly urged the Christians of the Galil, to become full-fledged members of Israeli society.
Sadly, Israel continued its pro-Muslim policies and the Christians saw Bethlehem and Ramallah go from Christian to Muslim cities while under Israeli control. The very thing that the late Mayor Freij prophesied would happen. Freij not only wanted to become Israeli to protect the Christian community from the Muslims, but also believed that annexation would create a large Israeli Christian voting bloc that would force Israel to change its pro-Muslim outlook. We see now that he was correct. Even the once Christian Nazareth, in Israel proper, is now becoming a Muslim city.
My own suspicions is that the Labour governments of Mier and Eshkol rebuffed Mayor Freij and the Christians because they knew a large Christian vote would guarantee a victory by the rightist Herut party, the predecessor of Likud.

Interesting stuff. I'm going to read up on the history of the Palestinian-Christian/Israeli relationship. I hope it's not as bleak as the picture you paint. It is certainly at odds with the fact that Israel's own Christian population is most definitely burgeoning.

That is definitely true. Despite all the problems within Israel, it is still infinitely better than living under Hamas or even Fatah.
This is an all too familiar pattern of muslim behaviour that I've personally observed in India.
It is only a matter of time that outrages like these will start occurring in the European heartland. Islam is a disease.
