Philippine military officials say 16 troops and about 30 Muslim extremists have been killed in clashes in the southern Philippines.[...]
The fighting was one of the bloodiest clashes on Basilan since 14 marines were killed in an ambush last month.
The United States considers Abu Sayyaf a terrorist group with ties to the radical Jemaah Islamiyah organization. Philippine forces have been on the offensive against Abu Sayyaf since 2005, fighting primarily on Jolo.
The al-Qaida-linked group is blamed for several deadly attacks in the Philippines, including a 2004 bombing that gutted a ferry and killed 116 people.
These Terrorist scum are supplied and supported by the incredibly misnamed Moderate Muslim State of Malaysia. This Islamic paradise which enforces dhimmitude with its Bumiputera Laws on 40% of its population the Chinese,Indians and Europeans who of course generate the vast majority of the countries wealth. Malaysia is also providing the same service on its land border with Thailand giving safe haven to the Terrorist Scum who cross the border to murder Buddhist Monks, Schoolteachers,Police etc. Malaysia is NOT moderate it is the Pakistan of S.E.Asia. The Philippine Muslim Terrorist Scum also get some support from Indonesia but not at all on the scale and with such Political nods of approval as from the Malaysians. In fact all the major terrorist outrages in Indonesia were planned and supported by Malaysians.
This recent assault was triggered by the ambush from the abu sayyaf gandsters (as they say, but to me MILF was also involved here) which resulted in the outcry of foul from the public because of the merciless mutilation of the dead soldiers. The abus(?) cut off the headsand the limbs of our beloved soldiers.
Here in the Philippines the liberals are very noisy when in fact they are very small portion of the population. You could not hear an outcry from the militant groups that always march on the streets of manila whenever they feel that they are wronged by the president. In this case their mouths were in very deafening silence.
The MILF would insist that the peace talk with the government would be derailde by this recent attack but they would resist to present the perpetrators who conducted the beheading of the dead soldiers.
I only hope that this misplaced fanatics be wipe out from this beautiful islands.

I am going to be writing to my politicians (Australian) to tell them that instead of wasting time in our dangerous relationships with Muslim Malaysia and Muslim Indonesia we should be putting a lot more effort into our relationship with you guys, as well as with Singapore. After all, over the past 20 years so many Australian and Filipino families have intermarried, there's a good solid alliance already in existence at citizen level. Instead of training the Indonesian military (!!) we should be helping your people squash the jihad once and for all.
Don't lose hope - pray that lots of Filipino Muslims will wake up and apostasise. I read a true story once, about this Filipina girl (a devout village Muslim) who went off to Saudi Arabia all starry-eyed about going to live and work in the holy land of Islam. Well: by the time her thrice-accursed abusive creep of a master had finished with her, she was lucky to be alive and lucky to escape the country - and she isn't a Muslim any more, either, the whole experience cured her of Islam forever.
l am sorry to read about these sensless murders of these people in the Philippines by the murderous islamists! you hear or read about all the strife caused by muslim terrorists is from the Israeli so called aggression, what are the excuses of these killings by the islamists? the more l have read on JW the more l realize there is no moderate muslim, only those waiting to become terrorists either directly or by contributing monetary and other ways of support.
If South Korea continues to have its citizens kidnapped and executed by the Jihadists, maybe they'll get involved on a global scale.
As I recall reading about the Koreans in Nam...when our boys went out they wouldn't see anything of the enemy. When the Koreans went out, they came back with heads and mortar tubes. Sound like the kinda guys they need in the jungles of the Philippines.
This is yet another reminder that our society and laws are entirely unprepared to contend with the challenge of Islamic terrorism. The terrorists are clearly exploiting our timidity to achieve their goals. Just look how successful their strategy in Iraw has been: the more innocents they slaughter, the more Bush and Howard get blamed and pressured to stop fighting the maniacs who are actually doing the slaughter.
Cases like Jihad Jack and David Hicks exemplify the unfortunate fact that our society has not yet come to terms with the real threat of Islamic terrorism. Many on the left, including Justice Michael Kirby of the High Court, still put the word terrorism in inverted commas as if it's not real. In my blog I debate the case of David Hicks with a leftie. People I have known from the Philippines are among the kindest and gentlest I have ever met. What a sin their beautiful country is being infected with islamic extremists. I suspect they are ill prepared to deal with such monsters. Our thoughts are with the Filipino people.
Ironic since right now it is the Christian faith that in the "global south" is going through a booming time in growth. Be it Evangelical, Anglican, or Roman Catholic, this southern Christanity is a conservitive, Bible-based faith.

Abu Sayyaf means “bearer of the sword” in Arabic and like all good fundamental Muslims has been seeking a separate Islamic state in Western Mindanao ,Jolo and what ever Phillipino Island it can get a group operating on.. The US State Department recognizes Abu Sayyaf as a terrorist organization with ties to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda Network.
In 2001 Abu Sayyaf kidnapped twenty people, including three Americans, at a Philippine resort and demanded ransom payments. Abu Sayyaf beheaded one of those American captives and held the other two Americans,, a Christian missionary couple hostage on Basilan Island in the southern Philippines. In June 2002, U.S.-trained Philippine commandos tried to rescue the couple and a Filipino nurse being held with them. Two of the hostages were killed in the shootout, and one, the American missionary Gracia Burnham, was freed; In August 2002, Abu Sayyaf kidnapped six Filipino Jehovah’s Witnesses and beheaded two of them.
Aba Sayyaf has been operating for 20 years now in the southern Philipines and Philipine intelligence says they not only getting support from Malaysia, and Indonesia but the Middle East as well, there is also a Saudia Arabian connection to this funding. Abu Sayyaf makes no distinction as to who they will kill as they attempt to establish their own islamic country on these Phillipine Islands. Over the years they have killed numerous Americans. The Phillipine Government has not allowed American troops to assist in the war against these Islamic terrorists, but they do use American equipment , and US military advisors.
Philippinos are in the same position as the rest of the world regarding the Jihad....the government doesn't recognize Islam as the virus therefore the source isn't targetted which means it is endless fighting.
This inner spiritual struggle certainly uses alot of bodybags.
Recall the American and Phillipine lives sacrificed in WWII to prevent Japan from imposing its brand of religious fanaticism upon the good peolple of the Phillipines. Both countries, lovers of freedom, thought those sacrifices, every one of them, worth the cost.
And today...we are close to spending $900 BILLION, at a rate of $12 billion per month, to bring democracy to all those "ordinary mom and dads" (H/T HF).
What do you think the Phillipine army might be able to do with just little slice of that pie, say a mere billion or so, to stop the Abu Sayef from their jihadist goals?
But no, as a poster here once observed, in Bush's eyes, Iraq is the center of his universe. The global jihad will fail or succeed unless we convert a few million rabid jihadist and sharia law worshipers into the western, liberal democratic way of governance.
The southern Philipines, as well as southern Thailand face the same jihadist threat. If we offered assistance to those military forces, we would actually be working with Armies we could trust and actually possessed a true sense of patriotism to their homeland and no need for more nation building.
Drive them into the sea and have peace.

The Jihad is clear about its aims, why isn't the response as clear?

My heart goes out to our Allies in the Philippines for the lives they have had cut short by the Jihadist. I can only wonder at what these beautiful spirits would have created for mankind, but we’ll never know, because of some sick twisted Jihadist fanatic.

Thank you guys for your moral support and in one way or another had extended help to our country.
Really, we are very much annoyed with these thugs or terrorists or whatever you may call them. Ten years back or so, we do not see women there in Basilan or Jolo wearing burqa, but lately i saw on the tv news women having burqas on their heads. I was shocked. I feel that we are just so tolerant with this law of theirs. I feel that islamic extremism is slowly creeping in our back door.
Hoping that our fellow Christians there would not react aggresively with weapons also. They (Christians) could also form into vigilantes and that we are praying that it would not happen.
