Hamas leader praises Sheikh Qaradawi for his support for suicide operations

Al-Qaradawi has been praised by establishment Islamic scholar John Esposito as a champion of a "reformist interpretation of Islam and its relationship to democracy, pluralism and human rights."

"Hamas Leader Khaled Mash'al Praises Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi for His Support of Suicide Operations and States: Holocaust Exaggerated, Being Used to Extort Germany, and Zionist Holocaust Against Arabs Much Worse," from MEMRI (thanks to Carmans):

The following are excerpts from speeches delivered by Hamas leader Khaled Mash'al and Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi at a conference honoring Al-Qaradhawi. The speeches aired on Al-Jazeera TV on July 16, 2007.

Hamas leader Khaled Mash'al: "The support we got from Sheikh Al-Qaradhawi is different from the support of anybody else, because of his religious status, his status in terms of morale, and his ability to draw the attention of the nation and the world to the issues of the nation, particularly the issue of Palestine. This support was of great value to us, to the Palestinian people, in the first and second Intifadas, and in all matters pertaining to the Palestinian cause. He has publicly declared his support for the resistance factions, unequivocally and without any hesitation or embarrassment, without fawning over anyone. From day one to the present, the sheikh, may Allah reward him, has not hesitate to support the jihad and the resistance, and to support the fighters, and the resistance factions. One of the most notable manifestations of this support was when we relied - after Allah - on his support of martyrdom operations. He never hesitated to issue rulings in support of these operations, and there were times when we were in dire need of these rulings."

[...]

"This is because some of the nation's religious scholars - and we do not underestimate them, for they are good people... But due to a certain confusion, they had dissenting views on the martyrdom operations, and this caused us great embarrassment. However, in his unequivocal fatwa, the sheikh, may Allah reward him, considered martyrdom operations to be the most noble level of jihad. That was unparalleled support for the people of Palestine, because, brothers and sisters, you cannot imagine how difficult it is psychologically for a young Palestinian man or woman to sacrifice themselves or what is most dear to them, only to encounter a conflict in their minds and hearts as to whether they are on the path of righteousness, or whether they are committing a religious violation."

Now's a good time to ask douggie hoopty and keith ellison what THEY think of sheikh qaradawi for his homicide bombings as well?

What say you two wise guys?
douggie?
keith?
The question's been put to you.
(I expect crickets chirping ad infinitum since they know they'd be faced with the moment of truth, so not expecting anything-they'll avoid this like the plague)

John Esposito comments on this with the words:

"WTF?!!"

Not allah-the-moon-god,

but Jehovah,

The One, True, God of Israel

will reward these murderous muhammadans!

Soon and in our time, Amen!

Bingo, ynke...glad ya brought that up...
even we christians have it written in the Book of Revelation what God has in store for them, and they are called by their ancient names.

I thought the orthodox rabbis of islam believe in the Caliphate-led umma and not such man-made entities as nation-states like the imaginary Palestine.

Of course, back then they were called the phillistines (palestine was coined by modern europeans).

Esposito is going to demand another big fat check for his efforts to try and smooth this one over.

A new government study is being condemned by the Christian ministry the Barnabas Fund because its proposals would move closer to imposing Islam in the United Kingdom as "a religion of state."

Among the proposals from the study being considered for implementation is the provision by universities for Islamic studies for all students.

The report was initiated by Bill Rammell, the minister of state for higher education and lifelong learning, officials said. He appointed Ataullah Siddiqui, senior research fellow at the Islamic Foundation, to write it.

Glad we cleared that up!

Nothing beats an honest Muhammedan who doesn't beat around the bush.

DP111:

The idiot-prince Charles, 'defender of the faith's'- is the manure and the jihad is the poison-ivy and the nail in the coffin of this perverted multiculti-diversity religion that perverts our society.

Once this is over there will be a lot of smoking craters left, if anything else....

What, no mention of Ohlmert, GW and Condi for all their support for Hamas? If it werent for them sending all that cash and arms, there would be nothing to make suicide belts with.

Unbelievable stuff, just received thanks to Mullah Lodabullah:

Sheik yer'mami will do a take on this later.

Any "religion" that encourages the murder of innocent people can only come from madness or evil.

Which is it, Islam?

Absolutely despicable show of humanity on display here. The brainwashing runs so deep here it's amazing. This type of ideology is a sickness on the human species.

Maybe we are the dumb ones and animals have it all figured out. At least they aren't blowing each other up in order to demonstrate who's invisible friend is mightier.

This is ignorance beyond ignorance.

Yes, lets not confuse the martyrs with FACTS. Give them just enough info to get themselves into trouble, and not enough to get themselves out of it.
Brainwashing comes to mind...

Nice point, Robert: that Esposito praised Qaradawi, but that now Qaradawi is being praised by a Muslim for endorsing suicide bombings. Thank you for keeping track of who says what, and who approves what, and thus exposing the awkward contradictions for the rest of us to see.

As regards suicide bombing: the more I think about it, the more I begin to see that when people like Belloc defined Islam as gnostic, they were right. Gnosticism accounts for why the Muslim world has embraced and theologised the practice of suicide bombing.

I have not read a lot of the extant gnostic texts - perhaps others here could give some details? - but from various sources, such as St Augustine on the Manichaeans, I've picked up a sense of the 'atmospherics' of gnosticism: its obsessive division of the universe into Pure and Impure, Material and Spiritual, Superior people in the know versus Inferior people, with a different set of rules applying to the Superior; and a total devaluing of the material world. paradoxically combined with unrestrained indulgence, behind closed doors, of decadence, perversion, cruelty and greed. And all this, can be seen in Islam. Islam forbids the selling of wine, yet Muslim terrorists make money from selling opium for heroin: this seeming hypocrisy obeys the inner logic of the religion.

Even one of the aspects of religious Islam that people generally regard as harmless, the so-called fast of Ramadan, exhibits a gnostic paradigm: a month-long cycle of ferocious daylight austerity alternating with feverish night-time gluttony. Ramadan enacts and therefore reinforces the fundamental paradigm: the absolute dichotomy between the inferior material world, and the spiritual realm. So does the Muslim polity: in the midst of public disorder and squalor, the Muslim-in-the-street, the peasant, starves and struggles and submits, while his despotic overlord wallows in luxury in the midst of the harem. Modern explosive devices enable the suicide assassin (not unknown previously in Islam - but knives and even guns are less effective than bombs) to take the gnostic impulse to its logical conclusion.

Orthodox Christian theologians who have studied gnosticism need to turn their attention to Islam, not just its texts and theologians but its folk practices, as a matter of urgency; and they need to team up with those psychologists or counsellors who have a track record in deprogramming cult victims.

Robert and Ayaan are so good at demolishing Muslim spin-doctors because they are stay calm and stay on track, ruthless in perceiving and nailing every form of deception and evasion. It is precisely that kind of persistent, humble, patient, fearless, relentless exposure of lies, motivated not by fear or by a desire to score points, but by sheer devotion to truth, coupled with 'tough love' toward the person possessed by the lie, that M Scott Peck described (in 'People of the Lie') as being necessary in the conduct of an exorcism. Robert, and Ayaan, and Bat Yeor and others need all the encouragement we can give them, because - Peck notes this - to confront and unmask evil is exhausting.

By the way: - to 'Leave Iraq Now' - Thanks for that link to the Ayaan Hirsi Ali article. One of her best, I think.

As I read Ayaan, her mastery of words (in English, her fourth language), her cool intellect wielded like a rapier in the defence of the truth and freedom she has found and to which she has sworn herself with such courage, I weep for Somalia and for all Islamised lands and for the ghastly waste of human potential that they represent.

You are not a good Christians if you don't understand and obey to your bible unless you are a GREAT PRETENDER....

That sounds like a cue for a song, thanks Jane.

Oh yes, I'm the Great Pretender, pretending that I'm doing well.
My need is such, I pretend too much. I'm lonely, but no one can tell...

Oh yes I am the great pretender...thanks Jane, I needed that, now what was your point again?
