Why can't the Karzai regime keep from appointing police commanders who are Taliban sympathizers? Why don't they recruit in moderate mosques instead of extremist ones? What's that? There is no such sharp delineation? Jihadists move freely among peaceful Muslims? What are you, some kind of Islamophobe?
"Police terrorized by Taliban," by Jason Motlagh in the Washington Times (thanks to Hot Air):
KABUL, Afghanistan — Ahmed Haidari knows that when he graduates from the Kabul police academy this month, he will take on one of the most dangerous — and most poorly paid — jobs in Afghanistan. But what worries him more than the Taliban extremists, who increasingly are aiming their attacks at the lightly armed and poorly equipped police, is the thought he may be posted to work in a remote region under a corrupt commander.
“My friends who have been sent to the provinces say their officers have told them to steal from the people and take money from criminals,” the 23-year-old recruit said just days before his graduation ceremony. “I'm scared of getting a police commander who works with the Taliban.”
There are plenty of reasons for a new officer to be uneasy. Police are dying at a record rate this year, easy targets for Taliban forces who, after losing hundreds of fighters in head-on confrontations with NATO forces last summer, have turned to suicide and hit-and-run attacks.
The Washington Times reported in early June that more than 200 police officers had been killed in the previous 10 weeks.
“These days, [the Taliban] are killing police, not army soldiers so much,” Mr. Haidari said as several fellow trainees nodded. “We are still ready.”
“My friends who have been sent to the provinces say their officers have told them to steal from the people and take money from criminals,
What criminals are those?
What is the difference between steal and take?
Only Allah knows for sure and he ain't talking.
How can we successfully wage any war where the enemy sleeps in our tents? We fight an enemy who is civilian in dress and movement, hides among women and children, and infiltrates our forces. And Hamid Karzi bemoans that fact that "too many citizens are being killed by US forces."
We have to make this their fight and their stake. Allowing heavier armaments for police could be bad if the Taliban is "inside." Either Karzi can win this for the Afghans or be the next mutilated corpse that the Taliban discards. It's his funeral.

Taliban was a valid Shar'ee government. The methods adopted by the Taliban
were in accordance to the Shari'ah. In the Shari'ah. The Imaam (Islamic
ruler) has the right and duty to enforce the external laws of the Shari'ah.
This had been the practice of the four rightly guided Khulafaa Raashideen.
Usama ibn Laadin is an upright Muslim and a devoted Mujaahid of Islam. The
allegations made against him were malicious, and designed to justify the
west's war against Islam. He, himself, has vehemently denied these
allegations. In Islam, the ideal system of appointment of the Ameer is that
of Shura (consultation) with the Ulama. The Ulama or the senior and
responsible members of the society should appoint the Ameer, who will then
appoint his government. This is the most preferred method. However, should a
proper Islamic government be established by other methods, e.g. monarchy,
then as long as they rule in accordance with the Shari'ah, they will be a
valid Islamic government.
