Tehran, Iran, Aug. 13 - Iranian authorities in Tehran lashed a man on his back earlier this year for having a bible in his car, an Iranian Christian group said in a report on its website on Friday.
The man was only identified by the initials A. Sh.
On 5 May, the man, driving his vehicle, was involved in a road accident with a car belonging to security guards for a government official in Tehran.
A bible and a video [about] Jesus Christ were found in the man's possession upon inspection of his vehicle by the state security forces (SSF).
A. Sh. admitted to being Christian, prompting the security agents to beat him up, the report said. He was arrested and taken to a holding cell in Detention Centre 102.
During interrogation security agents accused the man of converting from Islam to Christianity, a practice banned under Iran's strict theocratic laws.
He was subsequently subjected to lashes on the back and underwent physical and psychological torture, the report added.

Islam is a religion with no exit visas. Without the freedom to leave, Muslim statistics on their 'fastest growing' religion should not be taken seriously. When a number for Muslim adherents is published, an asterisk should follow with the notation, "This number includes Muslims without choice to leave." Yes, they have a high birth rate, but, how many millions of Muslims, both men and women, would leave the religion of peace, if they could do so without the real threats of violence and death as a consequence of rejecting Islam?

Lord, I wish there were enough decent people in that country to overthrow the current regime.
My oldest children went to high school with Rocky Sieckmann's daughter. Rocky was a US Marine who was held for 444 days in Iran during the hostage taking by "students" supporting Ayatollah Khomeni.
Rocky came to the school once and gave a talk on his experience. It was absolutely amazing how many boomer faculty members completely forgot about this. And apparently psychological torture is an Iranian (read: muslim) favorite.
Thank God they didn't put panties on his head! That would have been real torture!

Maybe the next poor fellow in Iran who gets caught with a bible, or Christian literature could possibly get hung---on a cross.
Imagine something like this happening in Europe or, the US that is sanctioned by the Government.
Yea the guy down the street was in an accident on Washington Blvd. and Main St. in Los Angeles and the LAPD found a copy of the Qu'ran in his car, they took him and tortured and lashed him for two days.

I think I'll drag a quran behind my auto on 9/11. There is a muslim who drives up and down the main drag of our suburb with a bumper sticker that reads
"Allah is My God--And Yours, Too!
Talk about someone who needs to be removed from a vehicle and thrashed.
There is no compulsion in Islam.

You know what's the most interesting thing about this story? - the very existence of the Bible and the video (which is probably something called 'the Jesus film', an earnest, literal dramatisation of the Gospel of Luke), in the streets of Teheran.
The United Bible Societies are not allowed in Iran. I doubt that Bibles can be legally imported, or printed within the country. I am quite, quite sure that the 'Jesus' film would be on the forbidden list.
Which tells me two things: a. there is a demand for Bibles, and suchlike, in Iran (as there is, also, a demand for all kinds of other things forbidden under Shariah law), which demand is not restricted solely to those born within the traditional dhimmi christian remnant, since it seems this man was a convert; and b. somebody is supplying that demand. Sneaking over the border from Turkey, perhaps, along the myriad secret smugglers' routes through those mazes of mountains...
How many other Bibles - not necessarily the traditional but conspicuous square black book, either, not in these hi-tech days! - are surreptitiously circulating from hand to hand in Iran? Let us hope - LOTS.
All manner of books have had a liberating effect upon the Muslim seeker...vide Hirsi Ali, for whom Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew detective stories, and sizzling Harlequin romances, sounded the first note of allurement and illumination. But the fact remains that - for many a discontented or even merely curious Muslim - the plain old Bible, once opened, does have a remarkable power to undo the effects even of years of Quranic brainwashing. (No wonder the Rules for Dhimmis forbade Jews from reciting the Torah aloud, or Christians the Gospels, anywhere that Muslims might possibly overhear - the Mohammedan authorities are scared witless of those beautiful, dangerous, liberating words).
Did he get his Bible back?
God bless this man! He knew the risks and took them. Many of us here comment from "safe" places in air conditioned homes. My prayers are with him and other Christians there.
Just think if it had been a book of "The Trouble with Islam" in Farsi!
Or a copy of "Infidel" in Farsi?
