For Arabs and Muslims across the Puget Sound area, a rise in the nation's threat level or a bombing halfway around the world often can mark a period of unease.In the years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, leaders in that community say incidents of profiling and harassment have ebbed and flowed — increasing when Muslims are linked to news of the day.
Now the FBI's release of photographs of two men of unknown origin, who the agency says were observed acting suspiciously aboard as many as six different Washington ferry routes in recent weeks, is creating new worries in the community.
Muslim- and Arab-American leaders are upset that the FBI didn't consult them — as it has done in other instances — before releasing the photos on the Internet and to news organizations. They worry that the action may fracture the relationship the agency and the community have carefully built.
The FBI has stressed that the release of the photos is a rare move, taken only after it had exhausted other efforts to identify the men. The agency also has said the men's actions could be innocuous, but it needs to question them.
The photos were snapped by a ferry captain last month after crew members alerted him to suspicious activity. The men seemed inordinately interested in the operation of the vessel, took photographs of the interiors of the boats and went into areas tourists and commuters don't normally go, the FBI has said. The agency has received many tips but has not yet found the men.
Dozens of Muslims and Arabs have complained to community leaders about the photographs. The fallout has led to a meeting planned today between Muslim- and Arab-American community leaders and law-enforcement officials.
"We need to get some type of apology from them and figure out how to get back to where we were," said Rita Zawaideh, head of the Arab-American Community Coalition....
Zawaideh said she met with FBI officials about the August incident three days before the agency released the photos of the two men. But the FBI didn't bring up that subject.
"Why not ask us then and we would have had a way to ask people in the community," she said.
Gomez said the agency needs to address certain sensitive issues, but "people in those communities have to get over this sensitivity toward feeling victimized."
Many passengers have been stopped and questioned recently, as the ferry system has stepped up security once the FBI concluded the men might be watching the system. The stops are based on activities, not skin color, Gomez said.
Two days ago, a Seattle Times photographer, who is white, was stopped and questioned after taking photographs near the Mukilteo ferry terminal.
The FBI didn't take the photos of the two men to the Arab- and Muslim-American community because the agency doesn't know if the men are Middle Eastern, Gomez added.
"That seems potentially prejudicial to me, and in some ways worse than simply putting [the photos] out the way we did," Gomez said. "It is not us saying these guys look Middle Eastern."
Zawaideh countered: "They're not saying these men are Arabs, but insinuating they are."
How on earth are they doing that, Zawaideh? They released pictures and said these men were acting suspiciously as reported by many people on several ferries. If they had instead gone to Muslim leaders and asked them for help, as you yourself suggest above, then they would have been announcing in a public way that these guys were Muslims. And I expect if they had approached Muslim leaders with these photos, the leaders would have been outraged, outraged, that the FBI was assuming that the men were Muslims. It's a no-win situation.
This all comes at a time when some local Muslim and Arab-American leaders say they've seen a new spike in discrimination complaints....Both Zawaideh and S. Arsalan Bukhari, president of the Seattle chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), say their organizations have been receiving more reports lately involving allegations of discrimination.
Bukhari said he's heard of delays at the border, as well as cases of people being asked questions at the airport and searched so thoroughly they missed their flights.
I'd live with it if it happened to me, Arsalan. Better than getting blown up. At least for some of us.

How is publishing a photo of two men considered "insinuating they are" Arab? The concept of victimization is always used when there is no rational response to perceived biases. Victims always point a finger to avoid taking any responsibility for actions or words they themselves deride. If these two men were, in fact acting "strangly" then it is consistently prudent to watch and report. Personally I am sick and tired of this victimization mindset and believe this type of action should always be pointed out. If I had been on one of those ferries I would have been one of the first to say out loud, "What are you doing, and why are you in areas not for public access?" I would have reported it immediately to the crew and also made sure that law enforcment was informed as well. We MUST not let fear or intimidation rule our good sense. If it looks, acts and smells like a "duck" then its feathers must be plucked. No way do I want the "woulda coulda shoulda" scenario on my head. Protecting each other is a top priority and should always be of paramount importance.

In Columbus, Ohio there are two publicly-funded charter schools: International Academy of Columbus and Westside Academy. They are operated by Islamic extremists associated with the national and Ohio chapter of CAIR. At least one of the schools has hosted an anti-Israel CAIR-OH "teach-in" in the past year.
CAIR's national vice chairman, Ahmad Al-Akhras, is one of the incorporators of both charter schools and the treasurer of International Academy. Also on the board of both schools is Abukar Arman. Arabic is part of their core curriculum. Thus their standardized test scores (on English language exams) are well below average, and the school only meets 2 out of 19 state indicators for proficiency. However, the schools continue to receive millions of dollars in taxpayer money every year to keep it open and renew their contracts.
Because there are so many Somali refugees attending the schools, both of the schools qualify for tens of thousands of dollars in federal grants under Title III. Furthermore, the Ohio Title III Director is none other than Al-Akhras' and Arman's business partner, Abdinar Mohamud.

"A car carrying four men reportedly sped through the U.S. Customs port of entry off the ferry from Victoria on Wednesday night.
The Port Angeles Police Department received a report through the PenCom dispatch center of the car failing to stop for inspection.
The car disembarked off the MV Coho at about 9:20 p.m. after the day’s last southbound sailing.
It reportedly raced past the checkpoint so quickly that nobody could determine a license plate number or even the plates’ jurisdiction.
The car turned left – or eastbound – onto Railroad Avenue from the port of entry, according to reports.
Police were looking for a four-door gray car or sport utility vehicle with four occupants, possibly Asian, headed east out of Port Angeles, said Sgt. Glen Roggenbuck.
Port Angeles police officers were unable to catch up with the vehicle and alerted the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department and State Patrol, Roggenbuck said.
No more information was available Wednesday night. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer at the scene declined comment.
Customs officers check all vehicles disembarking the Coho in covered lanes between the ferry landing and Railroad Avenue.
Citizenship verification is done by U.S. officials at the Coho’s Black Ball Transport terminal in Victoria before passengers and motorists board the 341-foot ferry.

On Dec. 14, 1999, Customs officers uncovered an al-Qaida-trained Algerian national, Ahmed Ressam, at the same Port Angeles port of entry.
A trunkload of bomb-making materials were found inside the rented sedan he was driving.
Ressam fled on foot, but was quickly captured by customs inspectors in downtown Port Angeles.
Ressam was tried in federal court and found guilty of plotting to blow up a terminal at Los Angeles International Airport with the explosives and gear in the car.

I flew out of Whitehorse, Yukon on Tuesday. I was NOT ALLOWED to bring a bottle of water into the security area because it might be part of a binary bomb! I had to take off my shoes because the metal eyelets for my shoelaces set off the alarm as well as tripped the wand. They put my shoes through the scanner. I had to loosen my belt because the metal buckle set off the scanners and wand.

I'm looking for at least two people in every state of the Union who would be willing to purchase a copy of Robert Spencer's Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn't and mail it, on an agreed upon date, to one of the senators in your state. I'm organizing an effort to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message. If we get more than two people per state, books can also be sent to the House of Representatives.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.
Right before each of us mails the book, we can issue a press release to various media outlets in every state, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.
One of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the anti-Jihad caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick to maximize its effectiveness. I've also been calling various congressional offices to get advice on how best to go about this. And I'll soon contact Regnery, Robert Spencer's publisher, to ask their advice and to see if we can coordinate with them in some way.
At least 95% of the world's terrorism attacks are coming from Muslims. It is only right therefore that Muslims accept the reality that 95% of the vigilance against terrorism attacks is going to be directed against them. Whether Muslims like it or not, they are responsible for the vast majority if the world's bloodshed-- and they are going to pay for it.
The one good recourse Muslims have would be to stop their lethal attacks on the "unbelievers", at which point the rest of us can stop our aggressive countermeasures. Why as the FBI ever consulted, for one minute, with "Muslim and Arab-American groups" on its standard procedures -- realeasing pictures of those who are sought for past or likely future criminal activity is routine, and a most successful method, proven to work. Just look at how many of those publicized by John Walsh on "America's Most Wanted" have been subsequently seen by viewers and reported to the police. It is idiotic for police methods to change.
And why were they changed ever? Why should Muslim and Arab-American groups have any say in what the police do or not do in such a matter. It is perfectly appropriate, and especially necessary in cases of suspected preparatons for acts of terrorism, to enhance our common safety (that is, the safety of non-Muslims, those who inherited the political and legal institutions, and cultural legacy, created in turn by generations of non-Muslims, of this country), by dissemniating pictures of suspects. This is a most useful tool. For god's sake, how many of America's Most Wanted have been found because of viewers who saw their pictures on John Walsh's television program? How often, in the past, have those Wanted Posters led to the capture of those whose pictures have been shown?
This is the kind of behavior from Muslims that is so outrageous that it will prove, in the end, useful to those of us who think the sleep-walking public needs a shake or two. For anyone living in Seattle can take the ferry, and anyone might be able to imagine himself on that ferry, with that bomb going off. And now that the photograph of the two suspects have been widely publicized, if those two are innocent they have only to step forth and demonstrate it. Meanwhile, those who recognize their faces now have a duty to step forth and identify them – especially if the two men in question do not present themselves. And non-Muslims are going to have a very hard time, indeed, as they imagine themselves or possibly their children on that ferry, being sympathetic to Muslim demands, Muslim outrage. No, that outrage is likely to meet with ever-growing Infidel outrage, and once the denial-interfaith-outreach-it’s-all-been-exaggerated cordhas been snapped in Infidle brains, once the connection is gone, it can never be put back the way it is. And it all the result of Muslim behavior. For if they were not to protest, but to eagerly pledge their cooperation and what’s more, deliver on that cooperation, then the mounting suspicion, that grows higher every day, would not mount, or not mount at quite the same rate.
So the outrageous behavior of CAIR and other Muslims is in fact a good thing, it is having good effects on Infidels.

I wish I could say that I share this optimistic sentiment, but unfortunately I don't. I hope I'm wrong. But the PC rot is so widespread, the mainstream media so muslim-compliant & the president so enamoured of the "religion of peace" that I'm not even certain that another 9/11-type attack would decisively awaken the American public to the islamic threat. I often get the impression that the reputation of the Islamic community is more important than the danger jihadists represent to human life. Why is that?
I think it is because Islam is a deeply supremacist religion which does not value the human dignity of the non-Muslim ... or in some twisted way, even the dignity of the Muslims over against the religion itself.

Why should the FBI treat you any differently than anyone else? We are releasing the photos and that gives you the tool to ask people in your community. Post the photos at the mosque and let people know that it is their duty to report these men. That's how you deal with people in your community. You call on them to cooperate with police in order to keep the community safe.
Being investigated is not prejudicial. It has happened to many Americans. Being sought for questioning doesn't make one a criminal. It could be a misunderstanding. There's only one way to find out: talk to those in question.
In many locales every day, we are all being treated as guilty until proven innocent BECAUSE of the actions of Muslims.
With every tantrum they throw, it gets harder and harder to care what happens to Muslims. They cry wolf so many times no one will believe them when they really do have a grievance. Maybe CAIR needs a copy of Aesop's Fables?

I wonder how many peoplw were aware that the FBI consulted with Muslim leaders before making law enforcement decisions concerning Muslims. I wonder if the FBI consults with Catholic or Baptist leaders before making decisions about Catholics or Baptists.

This business of "Arab-Americans" being upset as well is untrue, and unfair to Maronites and other Christian Lebanese. The main immigration of Lebanese, entirely Christian, arrived here, between roughly 1880 and 1940. They came because Western pressure on the Ottoman government, while it lead, theoretically, to a formal improvement in the legal treatment of non-Muslims in the Ottoman domains, in fact caused great unease among Muslims. The massacre of the Maronites in Damascus in 1860 was one such manifestation. Those Lebanese who arrived, whose papers might describe them as "Syrians" or even as "Turcos," were in fact refugees from Islam, and the encroachments of Islam, even if they did not talk of it that way, but were simply seen as economic migrants from the Ottoman Empire.

The "Arab-American" identity is not one thing, but is used by Muslims in this country to backdate their arrival, to appropriate the good reputation of those Lebanese immigrants, and to relentlessly promote their own, quite different and sinister objectives, that have nothing to do with the enthusiastic acceptance of America, and its equal treatment of adherents for all religions, its political and legal institions, that was offered by Lebanese Christian immigrants.
They should be very careful, not least by that handful of islamochristians who are willing to promote Islam's agenda, and thus sully the name, even blacken the name, of those who have nothing to do with that agenda, and deplore it.
Looks like the Muhammedans do know who the wanted men are and they are sheltering them. We all know that CAIR is an enemy propaganda tool. Thats what they do, and it is a failure by US authorities that these agents of Islam have not been arrested yet and the organization shut down for treason and sedition, aiding and abetting the enemy at a time of war.

We didn't find the suspects...but we did find other "persons of interest" (according to the almighty wisdom of the brownshirts of political correctness):
1) The local Mistubishi dealership had some goof in a cheap copy suit of Barney the dinosaur...
2) same place also had a loon in cheap version of "tickle me emo"...ooops, I meant Elmo...
3) The local Subway restaurant had a sign-holding fool in a cheap gorilla suit...

Glenn Beck has been talking about something he's learned about recently through various law enforcement, intelligence, etc. sources. Apparently, there may be a plan in the works by the filthy muslims, called The Perfect Day, in which numerous attacks will occur throughout America, including against schools, in an attempt to provoke retaliation and ultimately a full-scale war against them. But hey, nothing to be concerned about, right! Two suspicious swarthy males scoping ferries, Saudis boarding a school bus somewhere, etc. No worries!
Come on, Muslims, esp. of mideastern extraction, know damn well that they attract extra concern & attention if they act suspiciously. Hence, my guess is that this was another case of malicious Muslim pranksters trying to scare people – a genuine form of terrorism if only low level. They knew they were attracting attention and they deserve to be tracked down this way, arrested & questioned, and the Muslim community can stop pretending they are victimized when it is their Muslim brothers who are causing this sort of trouble.

Watching a show called Ethiopia Today on the local public access channel, in some language I can’t understand.
The whole show is about some recent battle in a desert, must have been Somalia. There are leaders yelling into walkie-talkies in one hand while smoking a cigarette with the other. Lines of infantry are shown advancing with tanks firing alongside. An airplane engulfed in flames falls out of the sky.
The show changes to a few female prisoners being led out of a trench. The camera then runs through the trench, showing lots of people dead of head shots. More dead bodies are shown on a plain. We get to see the dead men’s IDs, the writing is in Arabic.
Everybody in authority or with a microphone looks to be of Arab descent. The riflemen appear to be more indigenous. In its heyday, Ethiopia used to own part of the Arabian peninsula. They should claim a right of return.
No-one yet has mentioned the absolutely artistic way Mr. (Ms. ?) Gomez handled the knife here.
Considering Ms. Zawaideh already seems to know that these men are Arabs and Muslims, she might be worth some further questioning.
The 2 dudes in that picture are Muslims....if we can't tell what a Muslim is today..and they all dont wear those long dress'es. Those over here to kill and destroy dress like the rest of us. Some even took our names (English).

If violence was not endemic to Islamic ideology and culture, then the defensive reaction in the Muslim community would not be seen, as the hunt for the suspects would not have any broader implications beyond that of a routine criminal nature. Instead, many people know or suspect that Islam is intrinsically violent and that Muslims can pose a danger, and that's what makes this incident more fraught than it otherwise would be.
What's needed here is more sensitivity on the part of Muslims to Infidel fears, and not other way around. We are the victims, not them.

Frankly, Kellers views are a little too extreme for my money, but he should have every right to express them. Better that he should have that right to free speech then that we should kill our own rights along with his.
If someone complained to CBS about obscenity on TV, they'd be told to change channels or turn off their television, so why wasn't CAIR told the same thing.
It's only a matter of time before people like Keller will be banned from the airways and prosecuted for "hate speech."

Indeed! If I read the article correctly, it appears at first blush that CAIR (the lobby group?) urged the IRS to go after Keller; I recall that this has some link to hate crimes as well.
The jihad is looking more like the blitzkrieg with the ruling elite falling like daminos and leaving those whom they are supposed to protect, twisting in the islamic winds of jihad.
When those two stop observing a belief system that calls for the murder of Christians and Jews wherever they can be found... then they can whine.

I've studied these pictures quite carefully for the past few days, and I can honestly say I can not identify what religion, or nationality they are. They could be Central or South American, they could be from the Balkans or Southern Italy. Their religion? They could be Orthodox Christian, Hindu, or atheists.
Many people are finally realizing that islam is NOT a race but a religion, sorry, cult, thus there is no way possible, actually totally impossible to be a racist against something that is not a race. BUT if a moslem falsely calls a white person or a negro person or an oriental person a racists (against islam) than that moslem is in-fact a racists himself by accusing someone of a race of being hateful or intolerant or discriminatory against something that IS NOT a race.
The only exception to when you are racists against a religion is when you are anti-Semitic. Except for converts, Jews are a recognized race and religion. Islam is NOT.

Whenever I have spoken to police, I have been fully cooperative and told them everything I've known. The police have a job to do and I want them to do it. I want the police to protect me and my community.
In my opinion, the only reason someone would lie to the police, or obstruct their work, is guilt.
A while ago, a police officer came to my door to ask about a (now former) neighbour. The ex-husband had come to pick up the son and no one answered the door, so he phoned the police.
The policeman asked when I'd last seen the woman and her son, if they had been carrying suitcases, if I knew where and when she was moving, etc. I told him what I knew.
Later, the woman knocked on our door and spoke to my husband. She expressed surprise and disappointment that I had told the truth. She said, "I didn't want my ex-husband to know where I'm moving to".
In my opinion, she was planning on taking off with the kid and not letting the husband have his visitation rights.
I didn't know her except to say hello but I was shocked that she expected me to lie to the police. I won't do it.
Wouldn't it be a scream if these two men were FBI, and their mission was to perform a series of tests to determine whether or not anyone in the general public would report their suspicious behavior?

The papers and TV had their pictures out there all last week, unlike the Seattle PI (still cracks me up, lol). They could of course try to assimilate into the Sikh or Hindu communities but with the islamic attitude being what it is towards those religions (as any religion that isn't islam), I would doubt it. Now, my family are Scots/Irish/Danish/English/German. The Scots/ Irish side is very, very dark. When one of my sisters went to India, after she put on a sari, so long as she kept quiet, people used to start by assuming she was Kashmiri; one of my brothers (black hair black eyes big nose) could probably go to Egypt or Israel or even Persia and fit right in. Dad's Fullerton (Scots) cousins all looked like Arabs, and his brother had real difficultieswith officialdom in some places, thanks to his 'Arab' appearance, when he and one of his 'Arab-looking' cousins did a world tour in the 1960s.
What made these guys suspicious was not their appearance - which could make them almost anything, as WLF and I have just shown, hell, going by their looks alone they needn't be 'middle eastern', they could just as well be Spanish, Italian, or Black Irish! - but their BEHAVIOUR.
This reaction from the Muslims - "dozens of Muslims and Arabs have complained to community leaders about the photographs" - makes me wonder whether in fact someone does know jolly well who these two guys are! Again: the over-reaction and extreme defensiveness will INCREASE suspicion, not allay it.
To hell with any group not happy about the photos being shown publicly. I only hope the two men are found and interrogated thoroughly , asking why they were "casing" certain things.
People--- do not allow any religious group to buffalo you into not following up on suspicions because you might hurt their feelings. Do what is required, and to hell with dissenters to our security.
