Friend and Ally Alert. By Salman Masood and Carlotta Gall for the IHT (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The release after three years of imprisonment of a Pakistani man accused of aiding Al Qaeda has dismayed U.S. officials.Muhammad Naeem Noor Khan, 28, was released without charge and turned up at his home in Karachi on Monday, his lawyer, Babar Awan, said. Khan was part of a group of people being held without charge in Pakistan and whose cases came before the Supreme Court on Monday.
Naheeda Mahboob Elahi, deputy attorney general of Pakistan, was asked about Khan's whereabouts by the court and said he had already been released. Awan said his office later reached Khan's family, who confirmed that he had arrived home. Awan said he had not yet spoken to his client.
Khan was arrested in Lahore International Airport in July 2004 during a joint Pakistani-British operation. Soon after his arrest, the authorities in Pakistan and the United States said they had found files on his computer that led to the raising of the terrorism alert level in the United States.
The authorities said the files included surveillance information on the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Washington, the Citigroup Tower and New York Stock Exchange in New York and the Prudential Building in Newark, New Jersey.
Obviously aiding al Qaeda is not a crime in Pakistan. Neither is conspiracy. Both get you praised instead of condemned.
It shows the weakness of the terrorism-is-a-criminal-act method of fighting jihad.
Or was there another reason for his release?
If I were in the CIA... I would have some of these imprisoned al-Qaida operatives implanted with tracking microchips, then 'let' them escape and let them lead us to the bigger fishes. Maybe that's what happende at Bagram last year (or was it 2005?). Hope so.
Hmm - his family confirms that he has returned home. What would we have done in 1943 if, say the Spanish government had released a potentially dangerous Nazi operative to return to his home in Bilbao or Barcelona?
Another sign that Pakistan is part of the problem, not the solution.
....and some call Pakistan an ally.....This fellow probably went to the AL-Qaeda hideout to speak to Bin-Laden and Zawahiri....you know, the hideout the Pakistanians do not want the US military to eliminate....
Sure hope he has a GPS suppository.
(Because, with their 70 Rules for Defecation, by the time he finds it, we'll have found Bin Laden.)
He sounds like the perfect candidate for asylum in the UK! Give this man government housing and a nice stipend for him, his wives, and litter of children.
Well, the only thing that surprises me is that they kept him in jail as long as they did.
And this is why - because they are only following their prophet:
1. "I was ordered to fight all men until they say 'There is no god but Allah.'" prophet Mohammad's farewell address, March 632
2. "I was ordered to fight the people until they say there is no god but Allah, and his prophet Mohammed."

Manipulation:
The ummah is seething over the Howard government: In tandem with far left judges and lawyers the Muhammedans are trying every schtick and trick to bring back Dr. Haneef, suspected coconspirator with the failed Glasgow bombers:
Muslim Website Claims “Indian Aussies turn against Howard over Dr Haneef"
* An interesting attempt by ‘Indian Aussies’- (in reality nothing other than our friends from the ummah) to throw some political weight around in order to appeal to some vote whoring labor prop:
Melbourne, Aug 19 (NNN-Bernama) The Howard Government is facing an electoral backlash from the nation’s Indian community over the Mohamed Haneef affair, according to “The Australian” newspaper.
The United Indian Associations (UIA), the peak body representing the 150,000 Indian-born Australians, said the Indian community felt “badly let down” by Prime Minister John Howard and would vent its anger at the polls due before the end of this year.
* One wonders why Hindu’s or Christian’s from India would ‘feel badly let down’ by the PM for having a Muslim terror suspects visa revoked.
Nice try, Muslims. Nice try!
* Australia’s Indian-born population has almost doubled under the Howard Government, from 77,000 in 1996 to 147,000 at last year’s census.
* Their numbers would be too small to matter if they were spread evenly across all electorate but they cluster in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

"a GPS suppository" Good One profitsbeard! Yeah, that's what I had in mind, something of the sort.
This wouldn't have been instigated by the re-instated judge who President Musharraf fired would it?
Don't let any of this distract you.
Remember Islam is a religion of peace and Pakistan is our friend.
Oh and Ken, it is a dictatorship don't forget.

I would like to know where the pressure came from to do such a thing!? There is something to this!
