Saudis might take Bibles from tourists

What a lovely tourist spot. Islamic Tolerance Alert. By Michael Freund in the Jerusalem Post (thanks to all who sent this in):

Despite a series of initiatives aimed at generating foreign tourism, the Saudi Arabian government continues to bar Jews and Christians from bringing items such as Bibles, crucifixes and Stars of David into the country and is threatening to confiscate them on sight, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

"A number of items are not allowed to be brought into the kingdom due to religious reasons and local regulations," declares the Web site of Saudi Arabian Airlines, the country's national carrier.

After informing would-be visitors that items such as narcotics, firearms and pornography may not be transported into the country, the Web site adds: "Items and articles belonging to religions other than Islam are also prohibited. These may include Bibles, crucifixes, statues, carvings, items with religious symbols such as the Star of David, and others."

Contacted by the Post, an employee of Saudi Arabian Airlines in New York, who would only give her name as Gladys, confirmed this rule was in force. "Yes, sir," she said, "that is what we have heard, that it is a problem to bring these things into Saudi Arabia, so you cannot do it."

An official at the Saudi Consulate in New York, who declined to give her name, told the Post that anyone bringing a Bible into the country or wearing a crucifix or Star of David around their neck would run into trouble with Saudi authorities.

"You are not allowed to bring that stuff into the kingdom," the consular official said. "If you do, they will take it away," she warned, adding, "If it is really important to you, then you can try to bring it and just see what happens, but I don't recommend that you do so."

Nice. Equating our religious symbols with porn, drugs and guns.

Hmmmm.......porn and instruments of death. Sounds more like the koran than the Bible to me.

Wonder if my five-hundred pound carving of Mo in good old Wisconsin Cheese will make it through their screeners?

After all, its great cheese, handcarved art, free speech, pro-Mo and depicts Mo in all his cheesy glory.

I wanted to do a tableau of Mo--wife beater, child pedophile, merciless robber-warrior and profit of Allha, but that would require too much cheese.

Perhaps, I can solicit donations of cheese from Mo's fans through the TSA; I hear Mo's followers like to carry lots of cheese through our airport screening systems these days. What could be a better use for all this confiscated cheese?

Take Mo's cheese and make a cheesy Mo.

Just another example of the 'dark-side’s' attempting to keep it’s minions in a blissful state of mohammedan untruth. Were Bible’s allowed there, no further need of worshiping meteorites and sinisterly, draped stone buildings would exist resulting in a lucrative hajj economy that would utterly collapse. As Jesus the Christ said: “the darkness hates the light” and indeed it does!

Fools. Blind, arrogant fools.

Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451, folks. Fahrenheit 451.

Shutting the gate after the horse has bolted, anyway. Satellite dishes. Radio.

And the HIDE of demanding that WE show abject respect to all their religious paraphernalia and practices, here in the west - how dare we disrespect a Quran! - while in their countries they treat OUR religious symbols with total contempt. THEY build mosques in our countries - they demand recognition, respect, accommodation. But in THEIR countries, they forbid - or demolish - churches and other places of worship.

Islam shows no respect. Ergo: Islam should receive no respect. Basic human courtesy to individual Muslims: but NOTHING beyond that. Let them be done by as they do.

WE ARE THE MANY, THEY ARE THE FEW!.

Western governments will not confront Islam for fear of the ‘Muslim Backlash’.

However,

concerned activists from different European nations are organising a rally outside the building of the European Parliament in Brussels on the afternoon of Tuesday 11th September from 1pm in protest against the spreading influence of Sharia Law across the continent.

Plans are being made for similar events in other European cities (and across the world) in the near future.

Your participation and support will ensure that western governments have more to fear from the anger of their own citizens.

It's either a bitchslap or a backlash. Personally, I'd prefer the backlash. As an American veteran, I don't have any problems with going to war and breaking things to protect my country and the thousand-fold more enlightened Western world.

...backlash mania....ban the Qur'an, the burka, the Mosques, the Minarets, the Footbaths, ban Muslim Immigration....

Uh, does anybody in the western world really need to take a vacation in Saudi Arabia? What would one be vacationing from, freedom to think, freedom to go where one wants, wear what one wants and pray how one wants?

When I go on vacation it's because I'm taking a break from the job, stress and the problems that I encounter in everyday life. Why on earth would I go to a place that will increase my stress level? Why would I go to a place that wants me to feel bad about who I am?

Saudi Arabia can keep their tourist attractions and their oppression to themselves. Who needs 'em?

What, big Mr. Sawdi Awabia is afwaid of a teeny-weeny wittle New Testament?

Oh, and BurkasforHitlery, love your cheese analogy!!

Agreed with Izzy. No infidel in their right mind would ever desire to take a trip to the "kingdom".

It would be nice to see the MSM reveal Saudi Arabia's overt intolerance of other faiths. I mean, this is inadvertently another slap at Bush. What is the MSM waiting for?

If ever a nation needed to be bombarded with artillery launched bibles, psalms, and the writings of John Stuart Mill it's that one.
Does anyone know how to make literature gun-rugged?

'the kingdom' is nothing but a big, dirty cat litter box.

....President Hillary....

Ex Sgt Brown,

Bite your tongue!

As a practical matter they may have a hard time keeping Bibles out, if someone is determined to smuggle them in. Oh sure print copies are easy to find and seize but what about electronic copies? What if I got a copy on PDF, put it on my flash drive and name it something innocuous, like "Financial Report 2007"? Are they going to open every file on every CD or flash drive of every traveler coming into the country? I doubt they could ban them with all the businessmen (and women) on the go. Even if they could plug them into special computers with Bible-search programs, it would slow down customs quite a lot. Once you get to laser printer, loose-leaf binder, hole-puncher and paper, you will have a new Bible almost as quickly as you can say "Gutenberg". Of course this method would work for any proscribed work: Satanic Verses, Lady Chatterley's Lover, Hustler magazines, Origin of Species...technology can be so oppressive in some contexts, yet so subversive in others. If there's some way to protect the government from the public getting knowledge, perhaps the Chinese know what it is.

So how many infidels would be stupid enough to take a tour of the land that spawned the evil known as Islamania anyway? What's to see there that you can't see in such places as Dearborn and the Caliphate of Minnesota besides a lot of sand?
You couldn't pay me enough to go to the heart of cesspoolia for any reason-one might as well take a trip to North Korea for all the freedom a tourist would have in Saudi Arabia.

Do does this mean that if I go to that Hell Hole someone is going to be looking down my shirt to make sure I'm not wearing my Crusifix. How about if a wore a Jesus Fish. Would they take that too?

Uh, dates & figs maybe………?

Several times over the past two weeks, I have heard CAIR representatives claiming that Muslim footwashes in schools, airports, businesses, etc. are within the law because they represent "reasonable accommodation of religion." If one would concede that point to CAIR, then why aren't items like a Bible, a cross or a Star of David, a Hindu book of scriptures not "reasonable accommodations" in Islamic countries? I know the answer, but I wish that some media person would ask that question to the next Muslim PR person.

I once heard that in Saudi Arabia, the only 2 reasons that visas are granted are business/work and pilgrimage visas. In other words, except for the slave, er, contracting jobs that foreign Infidels may get, there is no way they can visit the kingdom.

If they are opening up to tourism now, question is why? Is it that they need more cash, and that the cash strewn abroad on mosques and jihad groups ain't enough? Even if that's the case, the most dhimmi of Infidels should avoid visiting Saudi Arabia, or anywhere else in the ummah in the first place.

I hear they have a really nice Kabob in Mecca.

Would only like to visit Macca as a gunner or bombadier.

Brilliant point, sceptico! Gutenberg rises like the phoenix....Not only can you get a whole Bible (Van Dyke translation...almost unreadable) you can get sound files on teeny tiny chips, too. For the many illiterates in the Kingdom, this is even better. I don't know about anyone else on this thread, but whenever I LISTEN to the Bible being spoken, I can almost recite with it word for word....like Morgan seeing Ecclesiastes in his head and reciting it for posterity.
Here is the PDF Download link for the Good News Bible - a better translation, clear and concise:

And for MP3 Downloads:

So who actually needs to physically go to Saudi Arabia? It's just a click away.
Just double click that mouse, Dorothy, and say:
"There's no place like Hell, there's no place like Hell, there's no place like Hell."

And for those kuffaar, who, like myself, don't wish to simply drown in a slough of despond about the wretched state of Araby: Here is an interesting tool to help you learn your Good Book in Arabic!

Our U.S. dollar has 'one nation under God' on it. After doing your research you may be surprised that 'God' is not 'Allah'. The God on our dollar doesn't recognize Allah.

Surprisingly the Saudis don't have a problem with allowing this item with religous symbols into their country.

I vote that our money be printed on pigskins. Then we'd pose a real dilemma to all these blood cultists worldwide.

"Saudi Tourists"?

Is that something studied in Cryptozoology?

Jews are not allowed to enter Saudi Arabia under any circumstances. Have they changed this?

what if you covered a "welsh" language version of the koran in a bible cover and they burnt it? would they have to kill themselves?

The Arabian peninsula has biblical significance. The wise men probably crossed it to visit Jesus in Judea. The Hebrews wandered in it. Mount Sinai is more than likely somewhere in it (as opposed to rubbish spot that Helena, mother of Constantine pulled out of nowhere). I think Abraham and Jacob may have crossed part of it (northern part I believe).

Though going there and giving the Saudis money really strikes a nerve with me...

I am sure that if we were to ban the quran here, the UN would make a stink about us violating human rights. Not that I would want to visit Saudi Arabia anyway, but if I were to visit, they would be forced to see the Christian cross tattooed on my fore arm and John 3:16.

New question for DHS/INS (and all the alphabet agencies who pretend to protect us) to ask of ALL non-US citizens arriving in this country:

DHS: "Welcome, Sir, to the United States of America. What is the name of your god/God?"

Muhammad al-Durka Durka: "AllAH!"

DHS: "Wrong answer! You've just won a first-class ticket on a C-17 leaving Gitmo these evening! Have a nice day! Sorry, but we will have to confiscate that Ko-rant in your possession, and of course those ten copies of Playboy. Sorry, but rules are rules."

Problem sovled, people. Problem solved.

There are some people who will visit Saudi Arabia as tourists. There will be women who think it 'romantic' to wear niqab and be shown what they think is that country, when in fact they'll not be seeing anything worthy of being seen.
If male or female want to see or feel the essence of Saudi go and work there and they will very soon want to go home, chastened.
There will ,of course, be some females who like the idea of wearing a black bag and being told what to do and those idiots should be allowed to stay there.

flood saudia arabia with postcards featuring stars of david and crosses on recycled milk container stationary with a possible greeting 'remoooooooooooooooove your ban! shalom from the land of milk and honey'

Oh, here's a great spot for our vacation, Dear—we can watch the beheadings while the children play in the sand... .

A friend of mine said that while he was working at an oilfield there he saw a big Arab with a belt around his robe. The beltbuckle was an "Ichthus" fish beltbuckle. He said he did a big doubletake on that one. Apparently this Arab is either a closet Christian or a clueless Muslim. I think the later.

Just like the ancient church, my faith equates surrendering crosses and Bibles to unbelivers with apostacy. It is ever bit as serious as publically denying one's faith. I think if I go there (God forbid), I'll get a small gold cross implanted under my skin or maybe a tatoo.

They Shoot Crusaders, Don't They?

What would Jane Fonda do?
