DALLAS - Police are on high alert as the Holy Land Foundation trial continues in downtown Dallas.
The trial is centered around terrorism and The Holy Land Foundation, who is accused of funneling money to terrorist organizations. The department has a command post near the federal courthouse to watch for suspicious people.
"We evaluate continually everyday, and will be during the trial," said Deputy Chief Vince Golbeck, Dallas Police Department.
Several recent incidents prompted the Dallas Police Department and federal authorities to beef up security in some areas. Last week, police received information about a suspicious man who appeared to be Middle Eastern and was said to have been spotted checking out a TXU plant near downtown two days in a row.
"We are staying alert on those particular properties," Golbeck said.
Also, police said the lead U.S. attorney in the case, Jim Jacks, had his car vandalized at his home in North Dallas. However, there were also other cars in the neighborhood vandalized as well. But as a precaution, the U.S. Marshall's Office has stepped up security at Jacks' home.
Police said many of the tips are not terror related, but are checking everything, leaving nothing to chance.
"The majority of these things we are going to be very conservative, very thorough to track down any kind of intel that comes to us like that," Golbeck said.

Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn't and mail it to one of the senators in your state. I'm organizing an effort to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.
Right before we do the mailing, we can issue a press release to various media outlets in every state, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.
Update: one of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the anti-Jihad caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick to maximize its effectiveness. I've also called several congressional offices to try to get advice on how best to go about this. And I'll soon contact Regnery, Robert Spencer's publishing company, to ask their advice and to see if we can coordinate with them in some way.

There's always been routine security in most court rooms, but we all know that this isn't routine. This kind of security is in response to a trial of an organization related to Islam.
Are we supposed to accept that this is the future we will be looking forward to -- whenever a Muslim or Muslim-related organization goes to trial, courts must go from routine to heightened security to protect trial participants?
Has anyone ever heard of heightend security when a Baptist Minister or pedophile Catholic priest goes on trial?
This should alert Americans to the simple fact that Muslims do not believe that they are answerable to the laws of Infidel governments, and any attempt to bring them to justice in our courts amounts to a war against Islam.
I don't think our government will be happy until our cities and towns look like Bagdadh or Islamabad -- where everyone must live in terror of truck bombs and irate Muslim mobs.
We don't have to accept this as our future, and we'd better put the brakes on it now before it's too late -- beginning with banning immigration of Muslims to out country, and deporting those who refuse to conform to our way of life in the United States.
It's probably to late for France, England and Germany, but it's not to late for us.

I may be one of the few contributors to this site who wishes he could demand back, for a relative no longer alive, the sums she contributed to the Holy Land Foundation. She not unreasonably assumed from the name of the outfit that it was dedicated to promoting Christianity among the Arabs, and had no inkling it was actually supporting the permanent Jihad against Israel. And her misconception was understandable; the name "Holy Land Foundation" was deliberately chosen by these Muslim Arabs to fool Infidels into contributing to them, on false pretenses. She would not be pleased to discover the truth about the organization to which she so trustingly gave her small, but regular, sums. And she would want the book, want all sorts of books, thrown at the sinister defendants, and all their tribe

About a month ago, 07/17/07, a maintainence worker at a downtown Dallas high rise apt. was called to fix something for a tenant. When he entered the apartment, he found a variety of illegal military weapons, and, I believe, some bomb making equipment. It turned out that the tenant was from the middle east and had just returned from a trip there.
I believe the Dallas Morning News had the story.
This incident has since dropped from public view. No news. Nothing. ?.........
