Mission accomplished...for the hostage takers.
"Taleban 'agree to free hostages,'" from the BBC (thanks to Davida):
Taleban fighters have agreed to release 19 South Korean hostages held for more than five weeks in Afghanistan, the South Korean president's office says.Spokesman Cheon Ho-seon said the agreement was reached on condition that Seoul withdrew its troops as scheduled from Afghanistan by the year's end.
The Taleban kidnapped 23 South Korean Christian charity workers from Ghazni province on 19 July.
They subsequently killed two male hostages, and released two women.
[...]
Mr Cheon also said South Korea had agreed to a ban on its nationals' Christian missionary work in the country.
...and another one bites the dust....submission...
It's a small sacrifice to make to get those people out of there!!
Terrorism pays once again
Terrorism pays once again
Maybe South Korea has just wised up. What's the point of any of us being in Afghanistan?
Just how does South Korea think it will enforce this ban? Even the totalitarian regime in North Korea has not been able to stop the spreading of the Gospel there, despite having executed hundreds of Christians and filling its gulags with thousands more.
Not only do these dhimmi governments not understand Muslims, it is clear that they don't understand Christians either. To a Christian, facing suffering and death is not a deterrent because Christ has already suffered and died for us. These heroic Koreans went to Afghanistan fully aware that they might be martyred. That some were tortured and brutally killed will only inspire many more to follow in their footsteps.
So let the Taliban murder the faithful and the world's governments ban the gospel. It's been done before. Just like the Christians who faced Nero, Domitian, and every other tyrant throughout history, Christ's people will not back down. Truly, the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.
Now of S. Korea would send 23 thousand pissed off Koreans it might be something.
But, alas, they will simply blame us for the kidnapping like good Dhimmi's.

South Korea should lead the way and ban Islam, in my opinion.

While there may be some symbolism in withdrawing troops - it doesn't mean anything in practical terms:
"The Taleban originally demanded the withdrawal of several hundred South Korean non-combat military and civilian personnel supporting multinational stabilization efforts in Afghanistan, but later withdrew that condition. Even before the abduction, South Korea had announced it would withdraw its personnel by the end of the year. However, Washington is encouraging Seoul to extend its involvement."

As for the missionary work - the S. Korean government originally told the missionaries not to go to Afghanistan. I know it puts the S. Korean government in a bind but frankly, the captives have no but themselves to blame. With respect to missionary activities in Afghanistan - primitive and backward societies are best left alone.
I can't help but wonder if the situation in Afghanistan would be different had all the hundreds of millions we've wasted on Iraq been spent there instead. Probably not, but still--the country might've been marginally more stable by now. Certainly the Taliban could've been dealt a far more severe blow. As it is, we've forgotten all about Afghanistan. I could, and can, think of far more bombing-worthy targets than Iraq ever was (North Korea, perhaps?).
It's plain to see who really runs Afghanistan... even after 6 years of western toil.
Nothing changes with Islam.
There's only one way to deal with a bully........

Its an interesting set of priorities that places the withdrawal of missionaries ahead of the withdrawal of military support perosnnel. Are missionaries perceived to be the greater threat?
...South Korea will plead for help when the North Koreans invade....perhaps it is time we withdrew from South Korea....
South Korea is leaveing Bush Crusade against Islam like Polland,Italy, and many other nation left it.
The4 Christian who after this do missiarry work an are kill it they fault and the Government of South Korea will do nothing and either will the people of south korea care what happen to then.

Ahhh, the triumphant return of defenderofislam, in all his abysmal spelling glory.
Defenderofislam, world-renowned poster of nearly incomprehensible thoughts, perpetually struggling against the learning curve of the post button.

Well you've got a long ways to go.
Yah DependsofIslam is more like Defenderofgibberish.
I found this very upsetting. The Taaliben have just held negotiations with a foreign government, scoring an enormous P.R. victory that reinforces their "state within a state" based on the Hezhbullah model; they have actually, physically defeated a fuctional government for the first time since the Allied invasion; and they now have an established precedent for using kidnappings as a weapon.
So, who's ready for round two?
