Good talk!
Super-efficient use of time by Robert Spencer. Fox only had a about a minute, but Spencer got a very full message in.
Oh you lucky dog , you got to met Lauren Green
"Oh you lucky dog , you got to met Lauren Green"
No kidding she is beautiful!
Great job as always.. as someone else said you seemed to have been rushed through that piece...
When will Mr. Hooper have his retraction! LOL...
Why was that so short and rushed?
Is FOX always like this?
Do they believe that their viewers all have ADHD?!?
By the way, has Robert Spencer ever been on a MSM channel other than FOX or are the others just to PC?
A very media savvy use of a minute or two of Fox time. Too bad they seem more interested in Paris Hilton, etc. than the jihadis amongst us. I echo the praise for Lauren Green who deserves much more air time than "Bride of Chucky" Gretchen Carlson.
Hopefully Robert had a quick chat with her after the segment to enlighten her on the defensive nature of the Crusades instead of attributing them to Christians acting against the teachings of Christ.
And why are they always referred to as Islamo-something or others. in this case Islamofascists. Why can't anyone just call them Islamists?
Robert has pointed out where this behaviour stems from. It is in the Qur'an and was acted upon by Muhammad, who is emulated to this day by his minions.
Elias,
In such a short span of time, there is always more that could be said.
Cordially
Robert Spencer
First of all, I do agree that Robert did the best he could in a minute. Even if the audience doesn't suffer from ADHD, the hosts definitely do.
I agree with Awake - somebody should have filled Laureen Green in on the reasons the Crusades happened, rather than simply state that they were against Christian teachings. That's lame, given that Muslim apologists can (and do actually) claim that the Jihad is against Islamic teachings.
Also, when Laureen mentioned that in the Quran, one can pick things and decide 'this is what I'm going to go for', she obviously misses the point that there are contradicting verses in the Quran, and that there is an elaborate set-up in the Sunnah designed to resolve it. As a result, peaceful Muslims in, say, Afghanistan can't point to 2:256 and try to overturn apostasy laws, given that there are things elsewhere (5:33) that override that.
Brian mentioned the Free Muslims group - a group that probably doesn't have a membership that goes into 3 digits in the US! In the meantime, CAIR, for all its inflated membership claims, still has a large membership, and other Jihadi groups in Dearbornistan and elsewhere have memberships that drown the number of Free Muslims. Sure, there are the ex Muslims as well - those who have secretly apostatized, but for obvious reasons, they can't come out loud and clear in public (other than in some high security conferences in St Petersburg). So instead of focusing on marginal groups that have noble ideals but have little to no grassroots support in the ummah itself, FNC would have done well to have a whole long segment on the book, analyzing how much of Islamic supremacy and jihad is due to Islam itself, and what, if any, is the likelihood that it would reform from within, rather than be forcibly changed from beyond.
TV is not exactly the most effective way to get your point across but you deal with the media you have, not the media you want, to paraphrase someone named Rummy.
Lauren is trying to be charitable concerning moslems. She is a Christian and believes she should love them. I am a Christian and have a lot of trouble loving those who want to kill me and my family (I will let God lead me in this matter).
IMAO moderate moslems are like frog hair and unicorns. If a moslem follows the quran, how in the world can he/she be a moderate concerning all other religions? The quran is very detailed on how to deal with unbelievers. The idea that Christians get some kind of special treatment in islam is just hot air.
Qur'an 5:17 "Verily they are disbelievers and infidels who say, ‘The Messiah, son of Mary, is God.'"
Good job Mr. Spencer. Quick and to the point which is perfect for people with ADD in this country.
You know maybe we need people with giant posters that say "Quran 9:29"...who knows maybe people will read it.
You know all those morning TV shows that have the open backround showing people on the sidewalk outside the studio....oh the ideas...now all I need is an orange wig.
INTELLIGENCE TEST
Please do be objective....
Let's say Muhammad and Jesus fell through a hole in time and landed on earth today. Then give Jesus a knife and Muhammad a knife and put them in seperate rooms. Then tell both of them that you said their mother was a goat.
You are now given a choice of which room to go into. Which room would you choose? What do you think each one would do to you or say to you based on historical evidence or based on their philosophy found in the Bible (for Jesus) or Quran/Hadiths (for Muhammad)?
Lauren said that Muslims believe Jesus is the son of God and revere him.
2 points. Muslims dont believe he is the son of God and they revere him in the fact that they believe Jesus will come back and break the cross.
Very well done, Robert. The message was on point and clear.
Why didn't Robert say this? Why didn't Robert say that?:
Given a very short period of time, it is better to speak concisely about only one, possibly two points. Remember, all the audience are not up to speed on nor scholars of Islam and Christianity. Given the short time-span, he really only had time to fix one concept in the mind of his listeners. In this case: Jesus/Bible/good Christians teach love. Mohammed/Koran/faithful Muslims teach terrorism.
Everyone's first impulse when speaking publicly about a topic they care about is to unload an encyclopedia of information on their audience. It is very hard when speaking publicly to stay on message, to stay concise, and to keep interest. Again, very well done, Robert.
Robert,
Kudos.
Concise, precise and acute.
Given the time constraint, very very well done.
Let's hope this is a chink in the MSM's sleepwalking armor about Islam's intolerant tenets, and MUCH more follows.
Keep up the good fight!
The comments about "moderate" Muslims and "evil" Crusaders had two purposes. First they defused the first question most listeners would have: "That may be so, but what about --- ?" Second they helped preserve Fox's image as "Fair and Balanced" even if the subject is unfair and unbalanced (you know—Islam).
Lauren said that Muslims believe Jesus is the son of God and revere him.

What I heard from Loren Green was: "They Koran actually reveres Jesus. They call Him a prophet, but don't believe He is the Son of God." Now she did get tongue tied and stumbled while saying "but don't".
Despite the addled "facts" about Jesus in the Koran, I have heard of more than one Muslim converting to Christianity after comparing the descriptions of Jesus in the Koran with the descriptions of Mohammed found therein.
That interview looked really rushed :O
they always do in the US, here's why.
Unlike many in other countries, where TV is funded almost entirely by, if not exclusively by, their government...US is a capitalist country, and has to allow time for the advertisers (except for PBS who does get $ from the government here) who pay for the program in exchange for airing their commercials, hence the now-often used "ok, we're gonna take a quick break & pay some bills...be right back".
Time slots are a major format, and they have to be limited in scope...there are other programs on fixed timeslots and it's always crunchtime.
Or another look...it's "get to the point or forget it".
...sometimes it stinks, so ya have to get key points across in short order to accomplish the purpose, just enough to pique the viewers curiosity...it works quite well, as it gets the peron out of the house to go buy the book so they can evaluate it themselves.
Voila!
Robert nailed the key points, expedited the plan of attack, hit the targets and was done with it.
Kudos, Robert...just enough to make douggie hoopty inhale his morning beverage through his nose...lol
Yes, Robert got to meet Lauren Green, one of the most beautiful AND INTELLIGENT ladies in the news business. She can also play the piano masterfully.
I just wish these shows would allow more time for even more in-depth presentations of ideas. Not that Robert did badly - he did quite well. But Americans generally are still new to this topic.
Lauren Green came off as a real apologist for Islam. Her blathering about "pick and choose" was ignorant at best, as it shows she doesn't understand the concept of abrogation.
Let us see what one of the founding fathers said about Christianity
Thomas Jefferson said "Millions of innocent men, women, and children since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned, yet we have not advances one inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half of the worlds fools, and the other half crites. To support roguery all over the earth."
How would he be looked at if he said this today?
Let us see what Jesus say
In Matthew 10:34, Jesus says, "Don't imagine that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword!"
Hmm maybe Thomas saw Christians implementing this in his time or he just read history.
Others may not interpret this in that way and by looking at christian history many took it and take it to heart just like ignorant Muslims who take those verses and justify it to their understanding.
