US military regrets 'blasphemous' balls

"Captain Vanessa Bowman said the military had been unaware of the sensitivity of the issue." Indeed. There is so much about Islam and jihad about which they are unaware. And is that really excusable given today's world climate? An update on this story.

By Hamid Shalizi for Reuters (thanks to JE):

THE US military in Afghanistan has expressed regret over a campaign aimed at winning hearts and minds but which offended scores of Muslims when it dropped dozens of soccer balls bearing the name of Allah and the prophet Mohammed from helicopters.

The idea of kicking something bearing their names is considered deeply offensive to Muslims.

"This ball ... carries a message with it which, like an atom bomb, can cause carnage and insecurity in all parts of Afghanistan,'' a leading Afghan newspaper, Cheragh, said today.

US troops on Friday dropped dozens of free footballs for soccer-mad Afghan children from helicopters in an area of southeastern Afghanistan, all marked with flags of various countries.

But the balls depicted the Saudi Arabian flag, which features the Islamic declaration of faith and includes the names of Allah and the prophet Mohammed.

Fawad Ahmad, a shopkeeper in Kabul, said: "Americans themselves create insecurity by ignoring religious sensitivity, it is against Islam."

A spokeswoman for the US military in Afghanistan said the ball distribution was part of a goodwill humanitarian aid mission ... for the enjoyment of Afghan children''.

Captain Vanessa Bowman said the military had been unaware of the sensitivity of the issue.

"We do regret any disturbances caused,'' she said today.

...I remember the Muslims beheading some people and using the severed heads to practice their soccer skills....

My God, when are we going to take their insanity seruiously?

I guess you could say America dropped the ball in Afghanistan yet again.

You know what it was? It was just a patch with the Saudi Arabian flag, which has the Shahada on it. Nothing else. I bet it was instigators for the Taliban that started this. The kids probably don't know Arabic that well. Heartless bastards.

And here we are complaining about the NYT and the WaPo. I wonder if the writers for the Afghani paper did their internship at one of those rags.

This just further supports my contention that we nuke Tehran. Maybe they'll have a better understanding about the differences between a soccer ball and an Atom bomb. Plus, they won't be as offended because they would have died for Allah.

To make up for it, we must now make real footballs out of something new instead of pigskin.

Big deal. So drop them some magic markers and let them cross the offending flag out, or don't use the ball. This seems like the whiny-est complaint from over there yet.

did they say it was like "atomic bomb" said an Afgan newspaper? well that can be corrected, send them some real bombs and then ask the taliban supporters which they perfer?

" for the enjoyment of Afghan children''.

......In Islam, Children are not permitted to enjoy life...from birth , they are taught to hate, kill the infidel, and to blame the US for all your problems....

Ban Muslim Immigration...

Of what material were those soccer balls made? Not the same thing that is used for footballs, I trust?

Hugh,

I dont believe footballs are made of pigskin anymore.

deeply offensive to Muslims.

Is there anything that's not deeply offensive to moslems? An awful lot of what they do is deeply offensive to me (and Americans in general and Christians and Jews and Europeans and Hindus and sane people everywhere) but Reuters doesn't carry articles about that.

Ebonystaone,

Islamic terrorism isnt offensive to Muslims. Either is oppression and intolerance of non Muslims. I think thats it.

I assume these blasphemous balls will no longer be distributed in Afghanistan or elsewhere in Dar al-Islam. I suspect that there are tens or hundreds of thousands of these balls that have been manufactured and are now going to waste. Why not distribute them -- or for that matter sell them to the highest bidder, some operation that deals in slightly-distressed goods.

Then sell them on e-bay. They will be a hot item, selling very well -- all over Dar al-Harb.

That way the manufacturers will not be out of pocket, Muslim sensitibilities in Dar al-Islam be spared, and we Infidels, including Americans who do not threaten murder, or even find anything wrong with kicking a ball that has a tiny American flag on it (and ditto with the Italians, the French, the Spanish, the English, the Germans, and all the other non-Muslims, who do not think that kicking a ball with tiny flags means that you are kicking that flag and the nation for which it stands), will have the pleasure, now enhanced because of this crazed display, of kicking that ball, right down the field of our own particular soccer-dribbling dreams.

Seems like some of these balls have made it to Iran.

Pigskins are no longer made of pigskin?
But the name survives the rainbow of Knute Rockne's will? I'm disappointed. It's been a long time since I ran crazy-legged down the field, tyring to avoid all those attempts at tackling. It turned out to be good practice, though I did not realize it at the time, for dealing with some of the hostile postings at JW.

Here you go Hugh.

http://ask.yahoo.com/20070417.html

They should be made of pigskin :-)

The poster above, a certain 'Hugh'-, seems rather thin skinned at times, though one would agree that tackling is far better practised with pig-skin soccer balls, regardless of which flag is attached to it. What say you?

Then sell them on e-bay. They will be a hot item, selling very well -- all over Dar al-Harb.

Balls with the names of Allah and Mohammed, so you can kick them around? I'll take a dozen!

"There is so much about Islam and jihad about which they are unaware. And is that really excusable given today's world climate?"---Robert

It's excusable if one has been living under a rock, I suppose. Maybe it's the military's subtle way of declaring that they're sick unto death of Mohammedan sensitivities.

Our troops and allies are over there to fight a war, not to make kissy-face with the enemy. Maybe this latest...uh...bombing is an expression of their disgust with not being allowed to do what they are there to do.

Perhaps it's a stunt to show the people stateside just how irrational the enemy is. I find it hard to believe, in any case, that they couldn't have gotten as many unmarked balls as they wanted, for a "hearts and minds" mission. Our own American PC crowd would be wetting their britches to help out with such a gesture.

It didn't have to be these particular balls.

During the Russian occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980s, the Soviet Union used to drop bombs shaped like butterflies or children's toys.

Perhaps that approach was more realistic when dealing with this kind of enemy.

Not suggesting anything of course,,,

They are two parts that disturb me about this story.

Part 1 - Complaint over soccer balls and the use of the Arabic inscription of Allah. Seems to me that there should be a issue of it being on the Saudi Arabian flag as well in that case.

Part 2 - Aside from the PC mentality in the Army and other related government run organizations; it seems obvious that NOBDODY in the Army with any decision making responsibility has done anything to understand Islam as the enemy (Taliban / Hama / Al-Quada) and so forth understands it.

You've got to know HOW these guys think the way they do. Sometimes WHY they think the way they do and WHAT they might use against you.

I'm disappointed by our military, our government, and the media, as well as academic professors here in the States.

The fighting men and women, on the ground, are doing a great job! But another aspect is the propaganda aspect - that war has been waged HORRIBLY - in fact some badly - that WE are abetting and aiding the enemy through governmental usage of such programs as CAIR and other terrorist-related organizations.

I call on everybody to get over name calling.

This is war... it is a religious war AS declared by Osama and other radical Muslims - not the USA. If we are to win this war we must fight against the idealogy, Osama's interpretation of the Koran, first and foremost. American Muslims that are not extremists MUST realize what is as stack as well - when their own children are being targeted by radical Muslims to be suicide bombers and fighters against their own citizens.

The problem has been that our government has neither declared this as a WAR on radical Islam, but neither have they shown how this WAR on radical Islam is NOT a war on peace loving Muslims. A huge problem with this is also the concept of the Umma (sp?) which our own government cannot seem to intellectually understand. Actually a Christian is in a better place to understand insofar as the concept of Christ is the head and individual members are spiritually part of his body. Ergo - the sufferings of one Christian affect all Christians - that similar viewpoint is even more so in the Muslim concept of community. People may not see Osama as being representative of them, but they DO see him as a Muslim, and according to Islam, they CAN NOT say he is NOT a Muslim (as long as you confess the Shadda you are in) - therefore when we go after Osama we are seen as going after all Muslims.

Now this concept of Umma MUST, for this very reason, be debated upon with in the Muslim community and we have to find ways of showing how going after Osama is NOT the same as going after ordinary Muslims.

I never thought I'd see the day when our own government is against us and for those that wish to destroy us.

What a sad day. I fear to ask what will it take to wake up our government. How many people will have to die for their ignorance, or be enslaved.

Notice to Moslems: Since "allah" doesn't exist, you need no longer worry about this football flap.

Concerning Mohammed, who did exist, he DESERVES to be kicked around, AND HOW, the con-man who is responsible for 9/11.

Were these "unloaded" by the cynical Eu onto the unsuspecting U.S. troops in Afghanistan after being made last summer for a soccer givaway in Germany, and removed after the Garmans found that the Muslims there had the same objection?

(They should have just spray-painted USA! over the Saudi Flag and distributed the balls.)

Sounds like a mercenary EU scam to me.

This children's toys carries a subliminal message: Allhuh?, over all the nations of the world.

Luckily for us, the allhuh?abots are offended by using their feet on anything with allha's name.

However, associating allhuh's name with the national symbols of nations of the world sends those of us not disposed to embrace allhuh without resistance, the disturbing message that allhuh's name is over all, while the name of YAHWEH and Jehovah is absent.

I read on another site some time back this cryptic message: Feminists 'got' no balls.

Maybe the U.S. gubmint can send the feminazis these allhuh? balls, so they'll have what they lack.

Not "thinskinned." Irritated or annoyed by the need to go over the same ground again and again, with the same damn phrases, for those who refuse to read what was written before, or choose to keep ignoring it and instead ask the same things, raise the same hollow objections, over and over again. Annoyed at those who repeatedly, wilfully, miss points, or presume to teach or to preach what everyone of sense already knows. Save for that, I am sweet and even-tempered and in a nearly-constant state of amusement or bemusement.

I hope Britain is proud of its Dhimmi status.

If not I hope they are ready to fight a house to house battle in their own country to take it back.

Recents signs from Britain indicate they're in a mode of fighting a rear guard action as they retreat into the water and die.

“…the prophet Mohammed”

Correction, “the daemon Mohammed.”

Are we ever going to get anywhere if we keep on justifying their irrationality. IT WAS JUST A FLAG!

To those who want to help stop the spread of Islamic law and Jihad: THE JIHAD AWARENESS PROJECT currently has 61 volunteers in 33 states.

WE STILL ARE SEEKING CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FROM ALL 50 STATES, ESPECIALLY FROM THE FOLLOWING 17:

Alabama
Connecticut
Delaware
Hawaii
Kansas
Louisiana
Michigan
Mississippi
Montana
North Dakota
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
South Dakota
Utah
Vermont
West Virginia
Wyoming

The Project: We are looking for at least two people in every state of the Union who would be willing to purchase (from Amazon or any other source) a copy of Robert Spencer's Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn't and mail it, on an agreed upon date, to one of the senators in your state. I'm organizing an effort to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message. If we get more than two people per state, books can also be sent to the House of Representatives.

If you’d like to do that, please write to me at traehnam@yahoo.com under the subject heading “Senate,” and tell me the state your senator represents, an email address where I can reach you, and a nickname. No need for your real name. And I will never share your email address with anyone, not even with other volunteers for this project.

At www.jihadawareness.blogspot.com you can see the growing list of participants, and the states their senators represent. I’ll try to update the list at least once a day. I've also designed a graphic that might amuse. Scroll down when you get to the site.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.

Right before each of us mails the book, a press release announcing and explaining the mailing will be sent to various media outlets in as many states as possible. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.

One of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the anti-Jihad caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick to maximize its effectiveness. I've also been calling various congressional offices to get advice on how best to go about this. And I'll soon contact Regnery, Robert Spencer's publisher, to ask their advice and to see if we can coordinate with them in some way.

Do not return evil for evil but overcome it with good. Eventually the greatest good is gonna drop kick this evil Islam into history...so until then we'll show who is soft hearted & has a conscience by taking the high road...even if the situations they create are utterly absurd.

Thats not going to defeat islam. Islam thrives on its enemies kindness and conscience.

darcy

Thanks for my first laugh today.

Notice to the military: If this proved offensive, keep it up. The best defense is an offense. Drop 100,000 balls and tell them that just ONE contains a pack of Marlboros. That should keep them busy.

It is like, wow, not a day goes by when the Muslims or their leaders get bent-out-of-shape over every little thing. For them, just breathing as a non-Muslim OFFENDS them.

The fast rising junior officer who came up with the soccer ball idea had better do a rethink about his military career.

we Infidels, including Americans who do not threaten murder, or even find anything wrong with kicking a ball that has a tiny American flag on it (and ditto with the Italians, the French, the Spanish, the English, the Germans, and all the other non-Muslims, who do not think that kicking a ball with tiny flags means that you are kicking that flag and the nation for which it stands), will have the pleasure, now enhanced because of this crazed display, of kicking that ball, right down the field of our own particular soccer-dribbling dreams.

All the normal [ie. non-moslem] countries you mention above have won one OR MORE World Cups. And some of them have won the European Cup more than once as well.

SOWdi Barbaria has no legitimate reason to be in such elevated company.

They do NOT deserve a European soccer boot to grace their perfidious ensignia.

During the Russian occupation of Afghanistan in the 1980s, the Soviet Union used to drop bombs shaped like butterflies or children's toys.

Perhaps that approach was more realistic when dealing with this kind of enemy.

A soccer ball holds a lot more explosives than a butterfly.. too bad we got more scruples than the Russians when we re dealing with an UTTERLY COLD and UNSCRUPULOUS ENEMY or terminator proportions when it comes to its desire to KILL.

We MUST come to grips with this and we mustn't be afraid to do the same.

The day will surely come if we are to survive in freedom.

It's excusable if one has been living under a rock, I suppose. Maybe it's the military's subtle way of declaring that they're sick unto death of Mohammedan sensitivities.

I'd like to see them declare this in a more unambivalent fashion if you know what I mean.

Footballs for Waziristan.. BOMBS AWAY!!!

Bomb bomb bomb bomb ira-han!!

Blasphemy only applies if the "intent" was to show disrespect -- and that clearly was not the case with these soccer balls.

But it's OK for them to blaspheme things that are sacred to us -- like our American flag. Hypocrisy is their hallmark.

Hypocrite = arrogant double standard

Hugh, and others, If the idiots in congress and the white house pass a flag protection amendment and a law that goes with it, it just might be illegal to put a flag on a ball or a t-shirt.

Flag desecration can be interpreted many, many ways. There may be control freaks in Islamdom, but we have too many freaks here.

This makes me wonder what the average IQ level of our military commanders is. If they are going to keep up this ridiculous effort to win the hearts and minds of Muslims, the very enemy that they will all be fighting well into the rest of this century, then they could at least not make this type of idiotic mistake.

A smart move that actually would offend some Muslims for all the right reasons, would be capturing and executing al-Sadr in Iraq. But nope, nobody does that, instead the U.S. military is dropping balls out of helicopters.

At least they weren't dropping baseball bats.

This is called biting the hand that feeds you. They are ingrates.

I guess Islamic schools don't teach that, "It's the thought that counts".

Now the US military regrets the dreaded balls of blasphemy. I wonder if they are regretting a lot more.

I consider this to be an open threat:

"'This ball ... carries a message with it which, like an atom bomb, can cause carnage and insecurity in all parts of Afghanistan,' a leading Afghan newspaper, Cheragh, said today."

Foehammer, the "hearts and minds" mantra is right out of the Vietnam history books. If anybody in the military establishment says that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, run for cover.

"This ball ... carries a message with it which, like an atom bomb, can cause carnage and insecurity in all parts of Afghanistan,'' a leading Afghan newspaper, Cheragh, said today.

Great grief! How can we pretend to even a semblance of rational discussion with these fanatics in the face of such thinly veiled threats and radicalism?!? Honestly, to act as though there is even a shred of normality or reasonably offended sensibilities in a reaction such as the above is a façade of the most idiotic sort -- and one only possible in a world blinded by PC foolishness!

"This ball ... carries a message with it which, like an atom bomb, can cause carnage and insecurity in all parts of Afghanistan,'' a leading Afghan newspaper, Cheragh, said today."

GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God what a farce this is.

In fact lets ban soccer. Its all soccer's fault.

No doubt a Crusader-Zionist-Lions Club-Free Mason-Rotarian-Catholic-Danish-Hindu-Martian(insert enemy of Islam here) plot to defame Islam.

Its a nuclear bomb folks!

from 'najima'- a muslimah posting on the sheik yer'mami blog:

najma sez:

and regarding u.s army providing balls printed with saudi flag , its a clear indication that they want to provoke muslims and then when something big happens they want to bomb n capture new so called islamic city, and all that bec their country is noit blessed with oil . Nearly 80% of americans dont even know anything beyond paying their credit card overdues , what will they understand what kind of leader they have elected , WE MUSLIMS CALL AMERICANS educated illiterates1!!!

We really do just need to pull out and let the taliban have it back. Then when we get attacked by them, just level a couple of muslim cities. Then when we get attacked again, level a couple more until they get the idea.

Eliminate any immigration from muslim countries, deport all non-citizen muslims, revoke citizenship of and deport any citizen that protests or speaks against non-muslims or demands special consideration (prayer rooms, foot baths, etc), and close all mosques and madrassas that advocate the imposition of sharia law in any part of American society (public or private).

It worked with imperial Japan, and it will work with islam (although maybe not as fast).

"This ball ... carries a message with it which, like an atom bomb, can cause carnage and insecurity in all parts of Afghanistan,'' a leading Afghan newspaper, Cheragh, said today.

Wow -- this only proves how ridiculous and unstable Afghan's truly are.

If dropping a silly-ball is all it takes to create "carnage", then perhaps the reverse will cause stability: as in dropping a few bombs.

Drop mood enhancers instead of balls -- they all need some serious medication.

Haha, sheik yer'mami, that post you quoted was unbelievable...I especially loved the spelling…and did I forget the logic??…

A gesture of friendliness, providing soccer balls w/international flags, is truly an incitement to violence – provocation for “something big”… all aimed at capturing an Islamic city “bec” the US is “noit” blessed with oil…

I’ll bet this is one of those evil Bush-Cheney conspiracies…in fact, this is so dire, we better throw in the evil "Franks"…and did I forget the Zionists?! Maybe some aliens, while we’re at it?

Drop 100,000 balls and tell them that just ONE has Allah's and Mohammed's names printed all over it-
on the inside.

Speaking of balls, Uncle Sam really needs to grow a few more where it REALLY matters in dealing with Islam and its bloody jihads...

Save for that, I am sweet and even-tempered and in a nearly-constant state of amusement or bemusement.
Hugh l think we would like to see more that part of you, :)

I predict heads will roll over this.

Did you ever notice that its always "This is AGAINST Islam"? Therefore they are "provoked" to murder and mahem.

Not a very "peaceful" resolution, this very flawed way of thinking.

Islam--The religion of "Dont even do the slightest little thing to irritate us or even to mildly suggest that our way of thinking needs change or we will behead you for insulting our prophet and his book".

Does anybody really care if we insult Muslims when we are at war with them? The "hearts and minds" slogan needs to go the same way as that of "an army of one". I'm getting a little tired of hearing about how Muslims in the ME don't like this or don't like that. Maybe if we shut off all aid to them, like a smart mouthed teenager who loses their free car, phone and iPod when mom and dad have had enough, they'd get the message. The bigger question about balls is, who will acquire them in the US military and finally stand up and say, we cannot peacefully coexist with Islam so one of us has to go. And it's not going to be us.

I think we need to be really honest about this, especially here. Is there anyone that wants to live side by side with Islam when we know that, to it's core, Islam insists on being dominant? Is anyone really interested in continuing to pay the jizya in the form of buying gas from these people so that they can turn around and pump money into lawsuits, election campaigns and weapons, all designed to destroy us? Why are our leaders ignoring us when we say we want more self-sufficiency when it comes to drilling for our own oil and securing our borders to prevent terrorists from sneaking in?

Having formerly been a military wife and living amongst them I can tell you that the soccer ball idea came straight from the heart. Some soldier or commander probably thought up the idea as a goodwill gesture. But these people seem to be emboldened everytime we apologize because we didn't know something, and we get smaller. It's time to abandon trying to twin them over. We are being laughed at and neutered at every turn. Pythagoras is correct. We need to grow some balls and keep them, rather than drop them over the skies of Afghanistan.

So, we have finally gotten some balls in Afghanistan! What bothers me most is the free advertisement we are giving to Saudi Arabia and the other cesspoos over there. Why aren't the balls inscribed with rational thoughts in their own language that makes them think and reconsider what their demonic ideology is teaching them. Then again, an image of Mo himself to kick around is a rather pleasant thought.

"Fawad Ahmad, a shopkeeper in Kabul, said: 'Americans themselves create insecurity by ignoring religious sensitivity, it is against Islam.'

A spokeswoman for the US military in Afghanistan said the ball distribution was part of a goodwill humanitarian aid mission ... 'for the enjoyment of Afghan children'."

- - - - -

#1 - EVERYTHING we do is against somebody's idea of Islam. We don't know that by now? And, so what? If we're going to cringe at the thought of OFFENDING these Muslim whiners, we probably shouldn't be over there SHOOTING at them.

#2 - "for the enjoyment of Afghan children" is also against Islam; don't you remember the revered Ayatoilet saying "there is no fun in Islam"? However, I think we should disregard this as well. Play is normal for kids; if Afghani children grow up remembering our soldiers as having paid attention to them, given them toys, built schools, perhaps in their adulthood (if we're still over there) they will think of our guys not as terrible occupiers but as a better alternative to the Taliban murderers.

Soccer balls have been distributed to every theater we have operated in over the past 2 decades, whether it is latin America, Balkans, Middle East, etc. These are PSYOP products with themes promoting unity, support for coalition forces, support for local govt., report IED/bombmakers,etc,etc. all part of a larger Information Warfare effort that aspires to influence the attitudes of those not actively supporting the insurgency - the "civilians on the battlefield" who are usually just caught in the middle. These PSYOP products with themes - whether they are bookbags, kites, soccer bals, school supplies - whatever, USUALLY go through some type of cultural scrutiny by a variety of sources that I will not elaborate on here. It is often not easy to not anticipate the real reaction by the local population once these items are distributed to the local population, as is apparent here.

So one ball is worth an atomic bomb. So we don't need more bombs, we need to get some balls. I am a firm believer in having ball's to disuade jihadi terrorists. If we could win the war with Islamic jihadists by getting some balls, it's a blessing.
The more balls, the better.

Well, at least the soccer balls weren't burned like some flags routinely are.

TOUGH SHIT ! ! Get over it people ! You Muslim assholes always cry over the smallest thing, while on the other hand you - teach your young to hate, kill under the cover of 'religion', cut heads off captured foes, lie, steal, cheat, do anything to advance your cause of world domination and Sharia.
It's all bullshit in the Muslim religion. There can be no peace with these people.

"There can be no peace with these people"....that's it in a nut shell.

Their moto is: Islam Or Bust.

I say BUST!

Drop 100,000 balls and tell them that just ONE has Allah's and Mohammed's names printed all over it-
on the inside.
Posted by: Dsinc

Even better.. tell them that Mahomet's name is printed on the outside of one of the balls and the lucky finder gets a free pack of Marlboros..

Hehe.. they'll be in a frenzy looking for the name of the demon profet.. and since it wasn't printed on any of the balls.. they can keep on lookin'..

Balls! on a heifer!

"Thats not going to defeat islam. Islam thrives on its enemies kindness and conscience."

I think you misunderstood the context in which I was presenting what I said. We don't have to act like them to defeat them. We don't have to return their evil for evil to overcome them. Besides who says people having a conscience & soft hearted means allowing Islam-o-fascists to walk over us?

We don't need to mimmick our enemies to defeat them.

Yes, Hugh, feel free to post whatever veiled insults you wish here.

I had thought the practitioners of Islam were intolerant, sexist, elitist, misoygnistic bigots who disdained anyone who resisted the imprimateur of Islam on their consciousness. For, their need to silence freedom of speech,or to insist that only what ideas they approved of could be expressed publicly is at odds with all tolerant peoples and governments. And, I had thought that only the practitioners of Islam felt entitled to oppress women (silly, inferior beings) and castigate those they deemed inferior with a sense of self-righteous entitlement.

However, I was wrong. It seems that on this site, sexism, elitism, and veiled insults reflect much the same intolerance and tyranny. One must repeat the same quotation and then interject a canned response in the same vein in order to be entitled to speak an opinion. One must be the product of the same academic experiences, and be immersed within the same journalistic subgroup or intelligentia subgroup, or bloggers' subgroup, or think-tank milieu in order to deserve to speak. Only voices within the closed circuit have the God-given right to right to speak.

Instead of attracting a vast audience with vast experiences and wide-ranging opinions, you prefer to hear and converse with the same individuals. Instead of broadcasting the importance of this site, it is more important that only individuals whose credentials you deem sufficient to have the right to speak are your preferred audience.

The wave of Islamic domination will only be fought if every poster, every reader, every curious visitor to this site is engaged in the problem and the dialogue.

Although, the Continental Army was made up of common men, it would seem that by your criteria they would have been too common for your taste.
