600 Iranian missiles pointed at Israel; Abizaid says world could abide nuclear Iran

Iran is threatening to destroy Israel if any move is made against the Iranian nuclear program, and General Abizaid is saying we may just have to live with it.

"'600 Iranian missiles pointed at Israel,'" from the Jerusalem Post (thanks to Sr. Soph):

Six hundred Iranian Shihab-3 missiles are pointed at targets throughout Israel, and will be launched if either Iran or Syria are attacked, an Iranian website affiliated with the regime reported on Monday.

Behind a poster of Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reading: "Missile maneuver of the Great Prophet," Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards tests the long-range Shihab-3 missile in a central desert area of Iran.

"Iran will shoot at Israel 600 missiles if it is attacked," the Iranian news website, Assar Iran, reported. "600 missiles will only be the first reaction."

According to the report, dozens of locations throughout Iraq, which are being used by the US Army, have also been targeted.

The Shihab missile has a range of 1,300 km, and can reach anywhere in Israel.

"Abizaid: World could abide nuclear Iran," by Robert Burns for AP (thanks to all who sent this in):

WASHINGTON - Every effort should be made to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, but failing that, the world could live with a nuclear-armed regime in Tehran, a recently retired commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East said Monday.

John Abizaid, the retired Army general who headed Central Command for nearly four years, said he was confident that if Iran gained nuclear arms, the United States could deter it from using them.

"Iran is not a suicide nation," he said. "I mean, they may have some people in charge that don't appear to be rational, but I doubt that the Iranians intend to attack us with a nuclear weapon."

This appears to be based on Western calculations of risk that, of course, may not be employed by those irrational "people in charge":

The Iranians are aware, he said, that the United States has a far superior military capability.

"I believe that we have the power to deter Iran, should it become nuclear," he said, referring to the theory that Iran would not risk a catastrophic retaliatory strike by using a nuclear weapon against the United States.

"There are ways to live with a nuclear Iran," Abizaid said in remarks at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a think tank. "Let's face it, we lived with a nuclear Soviet Union, we've lived with a nuclear China, and we're living with (other) nuclear powers as well."

He stressed that he was expressing his personal opinion and that none of his remarks were based on his previous experience with U.S. contingency plans for potential military action against Iran.

"Abizaid says world could abide nuclear Iran"

Then it must live with a nuclear N. Korea, Syria, Saudi......................

and deter all that?

What kind of f***ing world do you want Abizaid?

"Every effort should be made to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, but failing that, the world could live with a nuclear-armed regime in Tehran, a recently retired commander of U.S. forces [John Abizaid] in the Middle East said Monday."
-- from the article above

No, the world -- that is, the rational world of Infidels -- can not "live with a nuclear-armed reigme in Tehran." It is not true that such a regime can be counted on to be a rational actor akin to the Soviet government. Why not? Because of what Islam promises. Because of what Islam teaches. Because of what Muslims believe. It makes sense to wipe out Israel, in order to remove that horrible Infidel presence in the midst of dar al-Islam, even if millions of Iranians die in a counter-strike. It will justify man's ways -- the ways of the Islamic Republic of Iran - to God. It is only in Christianity that one has to justify God's ways to man. In Islam, you take whatever Allah chooses to dish out; the Muslim's lot is never to reason why, the Muslim's lot is but to do -- follow fi sabil Allah -- and, quite often, die.

I used to think Abizaid was sensible. I see that I was wrong.

The reason the world CAN'T abide a nuclear Iran is because they are in fact very suicidal. 20% of the country would kill themselves tomorrow if they thought it would bring mohammed back, destroy Israel, and subjugate the West.

According to the report, dozens of locations throughout Iraq, which are being used by the US Army, have also been targeted.

This goes to show what this whole site has been preaching over and over and over again.

The west must take lessons in Islam where all would see we are dealing with a far different set of marching orders from, the house of Islam, far different, 180 degrees different, from the Communist states of USSR and China. At least they had / have some fear of death. IslamoNuts don't.

Ok, so does Jordan have anything to say about this or Iraq? It would be a violation of their airspace and an act of war.

They are assuming they can get all those big rockets off the ground.

600 against the World. I like those Odds.

If Ineedajob shot all 600 towards Israel. The haste of their firing would result in 400 landing on their friends in Palestine.

If ant were armed with WMD then Iran would become a Crater. Radioactive to anyone less than 6' underground.

Like Iran Is rational???

"Iran is threatening to destroy Israel"

Don't make me laugh! Israel can kick their butts, and I think it's time that they wipe the smile off of Imanutjob's furry-face!!

My Mom used to say, "It's time for an attitude adjustment", and I knew exactly what she meant. The punishment always fit the crime, and I would either get a spanky or a whoopin'!!!

Iran needs an attitude adjustment, and I think a BIG-ASS WHOOPIN' is in order!!!

Go Israel!!!!

Wasn't Abizaid touted as the highest-ranking Arab-American in the US military? Now that he is retired is he showing his true colors (and maybe it's green, but not camo green).

If 600 Iranian missiles are pointed at Israel, Israel has the exact locations and is ready.

How does Israel's existance threaten Iran?

Joe Schmoe USA

Haha, I remember reading that. We haven't heard much since then. That means it must work!

August 23, 2007

JERUSALEM -- The Israeli air force is to buy advanced US-made missiles, capable of intercepting aircraft and long-range ballistic missiles, to upgrade the current air defense system, a report said Thursday.

The Patriot PAC-3 missiles, which will replace the PAC-2 currently in use, are capable of intercepting missiles possessed by foe Syria, the Ynet news Web site said, citing unnamed sources.

If Iran lobs 600 missiles at Israel, the only way Israel wouldn't respond is if they all landed in Sderot.

The prospect of nuclear arms in the Islamic Republic is too ghastly to consider, unless one belongs to the dishonor-is-preferable-to-war crowd.

Nukes are meant to deter and intimidate. Our options become more restricted, and Iran is emboldened--think about that! The architects of our Embassy humiliation, the U.S. Marine and French army barracks bombings, the successive bombings of Israel's Embassy and the Jewish Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, flouting international agreements and gaining influence at our expense, will be enabled to undertake even worse ambitions!

The mullahs must be overthrown!

A Concerned Islamomisiast

See, I disagree with all of you...

Frankly, I believe that the world would put such intense pressure on both the US and Israel to NOT respond if Iran did in fact launch its 600 missles at Israel. There would be such pressure to not 'escalate' the war, to dialogue, to not retaliate and risk 'world war' with the worlds muslims. And I believe that we are p**** enough to cave into those demands.

Besides, I believe everyone here agrees that Iran would not launch those missles at Israel... instead, it would send multiple radioactive dirty bombs into Israel on the waists of hundreds of suicide bombers. Just so it could say that it had nothing to do with the attack.

And the UN would believe them.

We all know this is true.

Kind of reminds me of the WWII movie about the commando raid on Germany's heavy water plant in IIRC Scandanavia.

Abizaid said:

I doubt that the Iranians intend to attack us with a nuclear weapon.

He "doubts" it? That doesn't sound terribly confident. And that's supposed to be a sufficient basis to be able to live with a nuclear Iran? He sure seems a happy-go-lucky general, now that he's retired.

And does he "doubt" that Iran could hand off a nuke to a proxy terror group?

And how can he think a nuclear Iran is the same thing as a nuclear China and Soviet Union?

As for Israel, does he think it's fine for it to disappear?

And what about Europe, which will fall under the shadow of a nuclear Iran even more than will the U.S.?

Attacking Iran's nuclear facilities would be a huge deal, with great risks. But given all the risks of not attacking Iran's project, can the U.S. really afford to sit back and let things continue on the current course?

“He stressed that he was expressing his personal opinion…”

He (Abizaid) is trumpeted as the man who could help sway the hearts and minds of people in the Middle East. The grandson of Christian Lebanese immigrants, he is a fluent Arabic speaker who professes to love the Arab world.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3053242.stm

Perhaps I missing something in all these military scenarios, but the country with possibly the most to lose is Syria. Located next to Israel, and with ineffective air defenses, what is to prevent Israel from doing to Syria what it did in So. Lebananon last year from the air thoughout Syria--only worse. In addition to destroying military targets in Syria, Israel could decimate the Syrian infrastructure. Such as bridges and power plants. If Israel were attacked with missiles landing indiscriminately, then why wouldn't Israel decimate Syria. In the Lebanon war last year, Israel held back and tried to target only Hezbo sites, because Israel did not want to be at war with the country of Lebanon. Lebanon had lost control of a part of its country.

This is not the case with Syria, which is a sovereign country. Iran would also be targeted as response, but distance would appear to prevent the full weigh of Israeli air power to be brought to bear against Iran. Not so for Syria.

hmmm... 600 non-nuclear missles now or 600 nuclear missles later. You decide.

"Iran is not a suicide nation," he said. "I mean, they may have some people in charge that don't appear to be rational..........."

That's gotta be the understatement of the year.

General Abizaid is a West Point graduate, former commander of CENTCOM (includes the Arabian Peninsula) and USCENTCOM, 4-star general, and current fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

Can someone please explain to me how in the world can a top-ranking US Army general be so ignorant about Islam and the enemy who has sworn to annihilate us?

I truly don't know which emotion I am feeling more strongly right now: astonishment or fear...

The Bible is relevant, regardless of one’s religion:

And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein… For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished… And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
-Zechariah 13/14

If these are divine words, the future is preordained.

If the words are only old stories, they also describe the future. As the missiles land, the Israelis will turn to religion and find the justification to defend themselves with all of the means at their disposal.

"the Heroes of Telemark" starring Kirk Douglas--great movie, and a true story too, perpster.

Does Iran have a centralized command and control system? Could a direct hit on a very few command posts cause the whole system to be inoperable. I doubt that mid-level commanders have authority or courage to act on their own intiative. Let's hope they do not have a Plan R.

Excuse me for a tiny, little, silly observation. An inconvenient truth, as it were. Hasn't Iran been at war with America for 28 years? The hostages, Hizb'ulah, Beirut bombing (1983), Khobar Towers, etc., etc., etc. Has one American pebble been launched at Iran in 28 years?

I don't like the phrase "War on Terror" anymore than anyone at this site. But - IF we were serious about it - WTF are we waiting for? It's time for payback.

In the law - national or international - you are not obliged to wait for the other guy's fist to make contact with you to give you the right to prevent this from happening in the first place.

Let the bombing begin.

"There are ways to live with a nuclear Iran,"

Really? Let me count the ways............

.......................................

.......................................

Hmmmm, don't seem to be too many ways there, General.
There is one, General that I think you could live with, well....maybe not, but its called "Dhimmi" and I think this just might be up your......alley.LOL!

Honestly, can this man, who I once actually admired be that clueless? As has been pointed out, he's a MUSLIM for Gods sake and he can't see the gathering storm? Un-freakin-believeable!!

Unfortunately this is what most of our esteemed proletariot seem to have bought into and i'm beginning to think and a couple of whacks upside the head with one of Mr Spencers books (or any other author you care to mention) just to see if we can't beat some reality into them. It makes me sick to even say I vote sometimes.

"Apostates of the world, Unite!"
"Stop Muslim immigration now"
"Islam, abusing women since 622AD"

Perhaps Israel ought to warn Iran that they have a few missiles themselves and in the event of 600 missiles heading toward Israel there’ll be a few nuclear ones heading toward Mecca & Medina. Would such deterrence work or do Iran’s mullahs really believe Allah or the ridiculous hidden caliph will emerge to save these “holy” sites? I think they would hold off on the 600 missiles.

I think they all know that if there is no Mecca & Medina then there is no credibiity and Islam, the source of their wealth & oppressive power, will fade away like an old nightmare.

General John Abizaid is Arab-American, yes, OregonJake, but Muslim? His name is certainly Christian--"John," not "Yahya."

Here's another bit, perpster: "Heroes of Telemark" is set in Nazi-occupied Norway, 1940 - 1943.

As I have always said.......air burst with the fuse set at 1500 feet.

"
"Apostates of the world, Unite!"
"Stop Muslim immigration now"
"Islam, abusing women since 622AD"

If memory serves, ayatollah khomeini (mhrih) was on record as saying he would gladly sacrifice every iranian to allah in exchange for annihilating the Jews. Rational? Gimme a break, they are mahometans! Abaziad is an imbecile.

I always thought he was a Muslim....I have been known to be wrong before.....just ask my 2 ex-wives!!! LOL

If he is an Arab-American(I prefer American-Arab) then he has a little bit of an excuse. If he is a Muslim then I have a few questions for the good General. Most importantly, when was the last time you read your Koran?

"Apostates of the world, Unite!"
"Stop Muslim immigration now"
"Islam, abusing women since 622AD"

OregonJake, I heard Abizaid is Christian. However, being Arab explains why he did such a lousy job of running the Iraq war. I'm not surprised by these stupid statements coming from his mouth. I believe he put the gloves on our troops and held them back from fully doing their job over there. Just look at the difference since Petraeus took over......They're beginning to make some headway and getting the Sunni's to fight Al Qaeda.

Yes, yes, Heroes of Telemark. Great movie. So in that movie a Jew stopped the German Nazis from going nuclear (Kirk is Of the Book). Maybe history will repeat itself with the Persian Nazis.

Infidel33,

"Ayatollah khomeini (mhrih)"? MHRIH--LOL!!

John Abizaid is:

1) not a Muslim but of Christian (Maronite, I think) Lebanese descent, and keenly aware that something is not quite right, something is very wrong, with Islam

2) it is unclear that he did anything wrong in Iraq: what would constitute doing something "wrong" once the initial invasion as over? Not trying to fulfill the mission? Trying to fulfill it? Trying to fulfill it while coming to the conclusion that it did not make sense?

What his statement about Iran reveals is that he does not realize how irrational, by our standards, Ahmadinajad and others in Iran and elsewhere in Dar al-Islam are. They are simply calculating casualties, and if they can eliminate Israel, which is very small, completely, and only suffer a few million casualties themselves, then some think to themselves that it is worth it. And besides, any Iranians or other Muslims who die will have died in a glorious cause, and Paradise will surely not be denied them. Those who rule Iran really believe this.

It is we who have trouble suspending our own disbelief, and recognizing what to us would be fanatical belief, in others. This Abizaid has not apparently been able to do. Of course, in his everyday activities in Iraq, he met Iraqis, Iraqis, who seemed perfectly rational. But what kind of Iraqis would he have met? The holdover household servants of Saddam Hussein, the tasters and drivers and wait-staff who were mostly Christians -- Saddam knew he did not have to fear any violence from Christians, who after the invasion served in the same way for the American generals and high-ranking civilians?

And the Muslim Iraqis Abizaid would have met with most frequently would have been plausible fellows, often the secularists of the Allawi party, or of the Chalabi party, or others, real Believers, but still eager to curry favor with an American general who could be a source of aid and reconstruction projects, if one treated him in the oleaginous way that Middle Eastern Muslims think is the only way to curry favor with the Infidels ("at your feet or at your throat").

He still doesn't see the risk, because his own experience with Islam, which might at first glance seem extensive, turns out to have been skewed -- skewed for him, skewed for all the high-rankers, civilian or military.

Don't attribute anything to Abizaid "because he is an Arab-American." That's silly. But you can attack his remarkable statement for what it reveals about his understanding of minds on Islam. He hasn't yet grasped it. Perhaps someday he will.

"Iran is not a suicide nation," he said.

Famous last words if ever there were any.

"Six hundred Iranian Shihab-3 missiles are pointed at targets throughout Israel, and will be launched if either Iran or Syria are attacked, an Iranian website affiliated with the regime reported on Monday."

More Internet tough guys in Persia. Please, someone e-mail whomever runs this Iranian website and update them that Israel already bombed Syria just a few days ago, and ask them what they think they're gonna do about it.

I've heard that the U.S., Britain, France, and Israel are eventually going to take out Iran's military installations and their nukes...sooner rather than later. It's on the talk radio shows about every day.

Can someone please explain to me how in the world can a top-ranking US Army general be so ignorant about Islam and the enemy who has sworn to annihilate us?

That's the problem: the enemy is not Islam, because Islam is the Religion of Peace, the Noble Religion. The enemy is a few radical extremists. The enemy is Al Qaeda. I'm sure the general has studied Al Qaeda. Studying Al Qaeda is safe. Studying Al Qaeda is acceptable. But studying Islam? That would be positively Islamophobic. Studying how the U.S. has reacted to Islamic terrorism in the past, or studying what the Founding Fathers had to say about Islam, that would be un-American.

General Abizaid said

Let's face it, we lived with a nuclear Soviet Union, we've lived with a nuclear China, and we're living with (other) nuclear powers as well.

What is the difference between column A (Soviet Union, China) and column B (Pakistan, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia)? What is the shared ideology of one group that is not shared by the other?

It is no longer acceptable to claim, without a shred of proof, that "all nations are the same", that Iran is analogous to the Soviet Union.

It is unfair to judge Abizaid on his Arab ancestry. Many leaders in this struggle are from the Arab world.

But if you “profess to love the Arab world” (after your family fled it), how could you oppose the Arab world (or the co-religionist Persians) being strengthened with a nuclear capability?

If you “love the Arab world”, what are your opinions on Israel?

In fairness to Abizaid, he made this statement as a three-star General angling for number four. Three-star Generals tend to get political; and it was 2003. Military officers are rumored to get lobotomies at O-6. “The O-6 lobotomy.”

But:

"I believe that we have the power to deter Iran, should it become nuclear,"

…is only a dumb statement if one gives Abizaid the benefit of the doubt.

"Iran will shoot at Israel 600 missiles if it is attacked," the Iranian news website, Assar Iran, reported. "600 missiles will only be the first reaction."

And it will be the last reaction Iran makes as a living nation.

"The enemy is Al Qaeda. I'm sure the general has studied Al Qaeda. Studying Al Qaeda is safe. Studying Al Qaeda is acceptable. But studying Islam? That would be positively Islamophobic."Posted by Special Guest

From what I have read, Al Qaeda follows islam and uses quotes from the koran to support it's basis of attacks and actions, so to study Al Qaeda without studing islam , to find out, is folly. To not know , is willfully attaching blinders.

The US has targeted 2000 Iranian sites. I bet those include those six hundred missiles and more. Iran may never get a chance to fire much of anything...

Well, I've said in the past that the Insurgent's General's & Intelligence was better than some of our own & should be replaced. General Abazaid apparently is one of them. I also have said, including an email long ago that Rumsfeld should have been dumped.

We should have completed Afghanistan first & KILLED OSAMA bin Laden & his cohorts THEN gone into Iraq with 2-3 times the troops to "Take Iraq, Protect the people & their property from the 150,000 criminals Saddam purposely released from prison to create havoc, then, as General Georges Sada said, let him & his associates who KNEW who the Insurgents, et al would be so THEY could take care of the potential problems the Iraqi way, but our own mindless wonders such as Rumsfeld thought they could do better, so here we are. Lots of problems.

The people of Iran, in general are educated & pro-west, but they stupidly screwed-up & voted Amadinejad into office, for which they are belatedly sorry for.

However, it is now well past trying to negotiate with their Presidential Nutcase Amadinejad & their Nuclear & ALL military facilities MUST be annihilated into dust holes!!!

BUT... send them a warning AFTER we hit them, that Pork Blood & Guts were mixed within our bombs & missiles & we will continue to do so whenever & wherever we decide on blowing them to bits where there will be nothing left for ANY Virgins who are awaiting them in Hell!!!

Always remember what Iranian schoolbooks teach since Khomenis time. This study was done in 2006:

They have been preparing Iran for all out war and martyrdom for decades. Somewhere on the net they had the complete translations, but unfortunately I don't have the link at hand.

Found it! Click on the link "The full report". (pdf-file).

Meanwhile, PA spokeswoman Condi Rice is concentrating on "solving" the Israeli-Palestinian problem and will be visiting the region shortly.
Hey Condi, how about working on destroying Iran's missiles instead of wasting your time and taxpayers' money?

"Iran, if they were really interested in pacific use of nuclear energy, then they would have allowed the inspections, and wouldn't have threaten or declared war against other countries like it is doing. In other words, pacific use of nuclear energy my "ass"!

....it is easy to see Iran does not intend to use nuclear facilities for domestic electrical power....

.....they have built no power grids, installed no power lines, built no electrical substations, and have not arranged for the manpower to maintain new power lines to the public; they have not planned for upgrading intercity routing for new power lines or service to new buildings...

....it clearly shows that building nuclear bombs is the sole intention of their nuclear facilities....

....I do not work for the intelligence community and I can clearly see through the Iranian claims that the nuclear power plants are not meant for civilian use....I would take them out immediately....

....I would also ban Muslim Immigration....

"Abizaid says world could abide nuclear Iran"

...he is wrong...

"are not ",,,,should be are....

Where the hell was Abizaid in 1979? That should tell you all you need to know about Iran. I was 12 yrs old at the time and was able to identify our enemy. Unfreakin real! Meanwhile that ahmadinejad chimp faced freak is gonna be at the U.N.. I get so mad knowing he is gonna be soooo close to my house and there is NOTHING I can do about it. Except hope that somebody does something to rid the world of this man. But it is like cutting a head off of a medusa, another one will pop up. Bomb Iran immediately!!!

""Iran will shoot at Israel 600 missiles if it is attacked,"

"....their next action would be to run to the hills and hide..."

OK, we knew that something should be done, but if they went in to destroy these missiles or WMD and their capacity to make them, the doooo gooders and the lefties would scream at how dreadful the right wing were in doing it.. and of course in anything like this, people would have been destroyed...

I have come to the conclusion that the only time that these lefties gain any common sense is after many thousands are killed, over and over again... BUT wait, they would come out and yell that the government didn't protect the people...

Here in Australia, many of our men died in the last war because the unions and lefties wouldn't let our boats be loaded with essentials and weapons to save our guys... Makes you wonder whose side the left are really on eh...

"....their next action would be to run to the hills and hide..."

Good one, exsgtbrown!

600 missiles would do some damage to Israel, but most likely not a lot of damage.

Israel would then (well, hopefully) wipe out Teheran, Shiraz, Yazd, etc...

The Saudis would not do a thing, as they hate the Persians anyway. Syria is impotent, so unless they want Damascas turned into a slag heap, they sit on the sidelines as well.

Iran is a little dog, with a big bark, but no bite.

"Are you gonna bark all day, little doggy, or are you gonna bite?"

"Hydro" sinks to bottom of the Tinnsjø lake.
A couple of months later, the saboteurs discovered that the Germans planned to ship all the semi-finished products from Vemork to research centres in Germany. Orders came by radio from London to destroy the cargo during transport. The weakest link was the journey by train ferry over the Tinnsjø lake. An explosion in the bow sank the "Hydro" on 20 February 1944, and ended the last chapter in the story of heavy water in Norway. The sinking of the "Hydro" cost four Germans and 14 Norwegians their lives.

http://www.hydro.com/en/about/history/1929_1945/1943_2.html

Do we as a people have the will to do what must be done to eliminate the threat of the mad mullahs of Iran armed with nukes?

The Norwegians sacrificed 14 of their own to stop Hitler from getting the Bomb. Want to speculate on the reaction of the worldwide American hating Left to an American led preemptive strike on Iran that kills 14 Iranians? You think the goons at moveon.org might go ape?

Four years ago Proceedings, the journal of the US Naval Institute, had an article on how Iran might use the supersonic, sea skimming curse missiles supplied by China. The premise of the article was that the Iranians could use the dhows that infest the Indian Ocean to scout our carrier battle groups. With a GPS receiver and a laser rangefinder they could fix the carrier’s position. A satellite phone would provide secure communication to the missile site. The carrier’s positions would be fed into the missile’s inertial guidance system. This would allow the missile not to turn on its terminal guidance radar until the last seconds before impact. Result? Scratch one carrier. The remedy suggested by the author was greater vigilance, especially stepped up boarding of dhows.

There are other remedies if we but had the will to do what must be done. The great carrier strikes against Imperil Japan in the last months of WWII were preceded by anti-surface strikes that sank everything that floated in enemy waters. At least one unfortunate US submarine that surfaced in the wrong place at the wrong time was sunk by these proactive fleet security strikes. We as a people were committed to doing what had to be done to defeat Imperil Japan. Truman was so committed to victory that he nuked Japan twice just to say the lives of a few hundred thousands Americans.

Do we as a people have the will to wage this war with the brutal ferocity necessary if we are to survive much less remain free? Do we even have the courage to name the enemy?

What city do you think good Muslims will nuke first?

This is often the way governments "test the waters". I suspect that Abizaid's statement is only a prelude to more dhimmitude and appeasment from the current administration as well as the next (Democrat. Thanks Bush).

The rhetoric heats up as Iran hopes to discourage a reckoning.

Well, it can come easy, or it can come hard.

Sure hope the mullahs and the monkey get theirs.

Glad to finally have you on board, Hugh. Abizaid, the US government's highest ranking Muslim official has always been a Muslim first and an American second.

As the US satrap in charge of Iraq, it was Abizaid who rooted out the Ba'ath secularists, allowed an Islamic constitution to be imposed, made Iraq a haven for Al-Qaida, and turned a blind eye when the genocide of Iraq's Christians, Mandeans, and Yezidis began. When I wrote of this, I was accused (not by you) of being an apologist for Saddam Hussein and Tarik Aziz. Well, between the secularist Saddam and the Muslim-American Abizaid, I'll take Saddam any day.

With people like Abizaid guiding Bush's policies, the US had done more than any other country to spread Sharia.

Yes I know Abizaid is from a Christian Lebanese family, but his words and actions make me strongly beleive he has become Muslim. He has identified with Muslims in almost every way.

Each morning as I awake, the first thing I do is turn on the radio expecting to hear something like this:

"WE INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM TO BRING YOU THIS SPECIAL NEWS BULLITIN. OVERNIGHT THE ISRAELI AIR FORCE LAUNCHED PREEMPTIVE ATTACKS ON IRAN. IT IS REPORTED THAT COMMAND AND CONTROL CENTERS, MILITARY BASES, BRIDGES AND POWER STATIONS HAVE BEEN DESTORYED. POWER IS OUT OVER MUCH OF THE COUNTRY AND FIRST REPORTS INDICATE THAT MOST OF THE IRANIAN AIR FORCE WAS DESTORYED ON THE GROUND. GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS IN TEHRAN WERE ALSO STRUCK. NO WORD YET ON THE FATE OF THE IRANIAN LEADERSHIP. STAY TUNED FOR MORE ON THIS DEVELOPING STORY..."

I really think that President Mahmoud I'm-A Dinner-Jacket and supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Arsehole are living on borrowed time.

To which I reply: I am not on board. You misunderstand what I said. I did not say that Abizaid is a Muslim, because he isn't. I did not say he considers himself an "Arab" because he doesn't (Maronites may use Arabic, and faute de mieux some have been described as "Arab-Americans" but most prefer to be called "Lebanese-Americans," knowing vaguely or exactly that they are a group apart. And besides, why would identficiation as an "Arab" make one, at this point, run interference for "Persians" who are stirring up so much trouble.

I only said that in this case Abizaid was demonstrating that he had not thought through Islam and its effect. He had forgotten the perfect equanimity with which hundreds of thousands of fanatical basiji went to their deaths against Iraq, and he fails to take seriously the irrational, the mystical, the death-courting aspect of the brand of Islam that Ahmadinejad espouses, as so others in Iran.

That's all I said. End of story. I am not "finally on board" in the way that you appear to mean it. Not now, and not ever.

IRAN CAN BE STOPPED BY the west THROUGH THE DEPLOYMENT OF AN ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE WEAPONS DETONATION OVER IRANIAN AIRSPACE.

THIS SRATEGY SHOULD HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT ALREADY!!!!!!

The world can NOT afford to wait on this any longer. The hour glass is almost empty!

Everyone should call the White House Comment Line and tell the operator this is probably the best way to stop Iran (and NOT by bombings or ground troops invasions both of which are guaranteed not to stop the Mullahs from launching weapons of mass destruction).

WHITE HOUSE COMMENT LINE: (202) 456-1111

ps: Be ready for Putin's retaliation against America if or when this tactic is carried out by the US against Iran. Our KGB anti-American czar with globalist ambitions has set up a nuclear-armed Iran as a booby trap for America. Putin's now waiting for us to do this and has something rotten (read: 'ballistic') up his sleeve (in Venezuela, and/or Indonesia, and/or the Caribbean somewhere perhaps?). Be certain of it.

Hugh,

Although I may have somewhat slandered Abizaid by calling him a Muslim, it is clear that he identifies with Islamic society far more than with his own families heritage. Few Lebanese Maronites or Melkites identify themselves as Arabs while the "Maronite" Abizaid is proudly Arab.

According to his Wiki bio "In his civilian studies, he earned a Master of Arts degree in Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University, and was an Olmsted Scholar at the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan. Abizaid greatly impressed his teachers at Harvard University. Nadav Safran, the director of the Harvard Center for Middle Eastern Studies kept Abizaid's 100-page paper on defense policy for Saudi Arabia, the only paper of a masters student he has kept, saying, "It was absolutely the best seminar paper I ever got in my 30-plus years at Harvard."

I know of few other Maronites who would put such an interest in defending the Saudis. Furthermore, he saw active duty during the Clinton Administration as the Assistant Division Commander, 1st Armored Division, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, helping the Muslims expel the Serbs. That's the reason my distrust of Abizaid long predates this incident.

"Iran is not a suicide nation," he said. "I mean, they may have some people in charge that don't appear to be rational, but I doubt that the Iranians intend to attack us with a nuclear weapon."

So, Mr. Abizaid, if your neighbor wanted to keep his pit bull in your backyard where your children were playing and he "doubted" it would attack your children, you'd be ok with that?

Dogs are haram.

forget the fact abizaid needs to get checked out for senility,

someone forgot to attach the rubber band first...lol

No wonder they didn't go ballistic over getting their nuke material bombed...they were a little busy covering their asses on this mess.
Nothing like irrefutable proof of iran-syrian cooperation, especially on unconventional warfare they have planned...guess who they plan to use it on? DUH.

Where Damascus Dennis Kucinich when ya need him?
LMAO

I received an email from The Israel Project about a rally to protest Iran and its madman president.

http://www.conferenceofpresidents.org/

"Iran's President Ahmadinejad is coming to the UN. Will you?

"He funds and supports terror around the world. He wants a world without the US and Israel. He is developing nuclear weapons. He denies the Holocaust.

"You can send a different message!

"Join the National Rally to End the Threat Now.

"Dag Hammarskjold Plaza across from the United Nations.

"Monday, September 24th, 12 noon, rain or shine.

"Subways: 4,5,6 or 7 to Grand Central Station.

"Sponsored by the Ad Hoc Coalition for Justice with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, in cooperation with the United Jewish Communities, UJA-Federation of New York and Jewish Council for Public Affairs."

Coincidentally I was reading Dag Hammarskjöld's wikipedia entry yesterday. There is this quote about his death:

On August 19, 1998, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, chairman of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), revealed that recently-uncovered letters had implicated British MI5, American CIA and South African intelligence services in the 1961 crash of Dag Hammarskjöld’s plane. One TRC letter said that a bomb in the aircraft’s wheel-bay was set to detonate when the wheels came down for landing. Tutu said that the veracity of the letters was unclear; the British Foreign Office suggested that they may have been created as Soviet misinformation. [...] the Norwegian Major General, Bjørn Egge, gave an interview to the newspaper Aftenposten on the events surrounding his death. According to Egge, who was the first UN officer to see the body, Hammarskjöld had a hole in his forehead, and this hole was subsequently airbrushed from photos taken of the body. It appeared to Egge that Hammarskjöld had been thrown from the plane, and grass and leaves in his hands might indicate that he survived the crash, and had tried to scramble away from the wreckage. Egge does not claim directly that the wound was a gunshot wound, and his statement does not align with Archbishop Tutu's information.

Bon voyage, President Ahmadinejad! Have a good flight on Air Infidel! Our inflight movie will be "Payback" starring Mel Gibson. Don't be alarmed if there is a slight bump as you are coming in for a landing, it is only normal air turbulence.

Be careful reading ANYthing you read on wiki...no real quality control....just lucky this one was accurate, as tutu turned out to be a closet socialist anyway & his spew was an anti-western hit piece anyway...which is no secret.
Anyone, even as militant as tutu should've known it would've been scrutinized, and shot down in flames as he was with that pap...and he was called into question right off, and rightfully so...

There's FAR more evidence suggesting SOVIET involvement than ANYthing the west would have done, as they won't whack someone like Dag, who was pro-western...something the communist occupation forces in Russia HATED, and it was no secret they wanted him dead anyway, as khrushchev made a point of mentioning words to that effect in the open in one of his usual grandstanding rages when he didn't get his way...it made worldwide news.

Right now, there are some better ways of him getting whacked than from us...and it comes from sources most, especially the MSM, can't comprehend (things aren't going as well as he portrays).
But that's another item entirely...

...and back to topic, here's an interesting tidbit that speaks volumes...
http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/bstephens/?id=110010619
"Osirak II"?
Could be...

...and this just in, too...
syria's babbling rhetoric since...
"Syria will repond to Israeli attack at a time and place of it's own choosing"
http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=4594

They CAN'T respond because
1) acknowledging it would mean the west is proven RIGHT, and the syrian-iranian ploy liars
2) they cannot risk blowing radio silence for upcoming offensive operations which were planned anyway, but delayed because of this, as well as the accident caused by WMDs they claim they don't have, but do thanks to iraq (see post above via jpost)

Someone over there (like the MSM, and the fanatical "no WMDs!" conspiracists, in predictably collaborative silence per their own exposed agenda since they "jumped the shark" once too often) is having a REALLY BAD day right now, as their entire propaganda veil is being uncovered, and a big house of cards is about to crash & burn...long time coming.

I love watching reality come back to bite 'em all on the ass...lol

...and just when I thought that was all, and the seething socialists saw their last bad day, this...
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,297034,00.html

Keepin' the islamicommies, and their kook fringe 5th column allies here, wanting more...antacid, that is...LOL

Gleiwitz Alert!
