Afghanistan also irked by new Muhammad cartoon

"Our Holy Prophet's cartoon in a Swedish paper has provoked all Afghans," wrote The Kabul Times on Saturday, publishing a statement by religious scholars, imams and the Ministry of Islamic Guidance.

"The sold-out enemies of Islam draw the cartoon of the respected Prophet of Islam once more. This has disturbed the Islamic world and aroused the indignation of all Muslims," the statement said, demanding those responsible be handed over to a court for prosecution and punishment.

Errr....excuse me. I dont believe Sweden is Islamic yet and the cartoonists arent Muslim so you can crawl back into your cave and stop seething.

Note the 57 member Muslim nation Organization of Islamic Conference's desire, their expectation actually, for non-Muslim nations to punish--as God and Allah demand--those who insult Islam.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.

Right before each of us mails the book, we can issue a press release to various media outlets in every state, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.

Congress is in recess until after Labor Day. But one of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the Anti-Jihad Caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick to maximize its effectiveness. I've also been calling various congressional offices to get advice on how best to go about the project.

If Muslims, in general, expressed any concrete desire for mutual respect between religions, I would have sympathy for their concerns about these cartoons. Instead I have the highest contempt for the Islamic world where Bible are thrown into the garbage (Saudi Arabia), girls are beheaded without widespread Muslim condemnation (Indonesia), where teachers are murdered (Thailand), were civilians are murdered for political message (USA).

Everytime one of these "Muslims offended" incidents arises, it teaches us that Islamic theology produced and produces a people who are only concerned about themselves. We are nothing and they are everything. Islamic is the only major religion where the theology teaches that the believer's life is more valuable than the non-believer.

Until Islam abandons its supremacist theology (which it never will), all of non-Muslim humanity must oppose this inhuman religion. We are really fighting for the soul of humanity against a religion which would enslave humanity with a never ending intellectual and spiritual darkness. Yes, I am demonizing Islam, since their leader and narrative holds so many demonic elements, it is unredeemable. The only response for secularists and other religions, is opposition.

The fact that a country like Afghanistan makes demands over interior matters of Sweden is ridiculous.

Would the Taliban, whom we are so desperately fighting to drive from Afghanistan in the south have any different opinion than the "Kabul Times" and the imans, religious scholars, and the Ministry of Islamic Guidance? I think not.

We are fighting the fanatical, oppresive Taliban in the south, so that the kindler, gentler, and moderate Ministry of Islamic Guidance in the capital of Kabul can exercise the true meaning of Islamic tolerance.

It's laughable that they can get so bent out of shape at such a poorly drawn caricature as this "cartoon". It looks like a kindergartner's drawing for god's sake. I'm beginning to think that even a simple stick figure labeled "Muhammad" would be enough to send these morons into a foaming rage. Somebody should publish one sometime just to see.

Just wanted to call attention to the news of the letter bomber in Toronto. (If not familiar, please google Letter Bomber Toronto or the suspect's name, Adel Mohamed Arnaout, for info) or read, http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/252285

Arnaout, a landed immigrant from Lebanon was arrested at service station early Friday morning in Thorncliffe Park Drive/Overlea - by the way, this is a heavy Muslim high-rise apartment area where majority is Muslim....from Pakistani mainly. His residence was in a strangely fortified, bunker-like basement apartment in a residential street which had lots of comings and goings, more than one would think for a smallish house. Residence was also in a South Asian area: called Gerrard-Bazaar which is a South Asian shopping district: Indian, Pakistani, etc, Hindu, Sikh and Halal food shops and other businesses thrive side-by-side...

We do not know by now if the three letter bombs he is accused of sending out were politically/religiously motivated, or if he is just some angry nut. Or so the media (dhimmi CBC and P/C Toronto Star, among others.... ) would have us believe.

It is sad that we cannot trust our Canadian media, and also sad that we are not surprised that it's another guy named Mo.

This poster is completely acccurate. I know that area of Toronto, Thorncliffe Park is a TOTAL Islamic hotbed. He is right the media is completely sweeping this incident under the rug and minimizing it. I cancelled my subscription to the Toronto Crescent Moon and told them exactly why, I would've done it sooner but for resistance from my hubby (slowly coming to an understanding about Islamic threat but I think I've got him coming around). Re Toronto Letter Bomber, Thanks for your supporting comments, j_not_a, and again, everyone, accept my apologies for randomly posting my off-topic post. I came on to the website to see if anyone outside of Toronto was aware of it. Oh and I did not mention that the Toronto Police had to close off major arteries yesterday midday to move the explosives from where they were found to a safe place for controlled explosion. Good job on both the detective work and the bomb disposal,fellas!

We know people who live close to both Thorncliffe Park Drive and Gerrard Street East, and I shudder to think that some kook, regardless of whether he's a bona fide jihadist or just some angry Unabomber wannabe or McVeigh-type loser could have been plotting something in areas that my family and I and our neighbors visit from time to time... Fact is, the guy they arrested appears to match The Profile (middle-East, Muslim name)... very sad is all I can say.

On behalf of a shepherd-mutt and a Dalmatian bitch who are close friends of mine, it is highly insulting to take the image of such a noble, humble, intelligent, congenial and useful mammal as canis familiaris and desecrate it by surmounting it with an image of Mohammed. Were Mo to learn to behave like a good dog, it would raise his virtue and correct his behavior tremendously.

Never one to miss an opportunity of showing up the kaffir to be ignorant, Ziauddin Sardar once pointed out that Salman Rushdie was not guilty of blasphemy - that was a Judaeo-Christian concept. Rushdie, as someone borna Muslim was guilty of aspostasy for writing 'the Satanic Verses'.
All these furores about non-Muslims drawing cartoons of Mohammed have nothing to do with blashemy and must therefore stem from the law against kaffirs insulting or mocking Islam. Surely they have no grounds whatsoever for calling for these laws to be enforced in countries other those dominated by Islam. Muslims should be told to go and boil their heads by the entire non-Muslim population of the world, on this issue.

No apology for blasphemous caricature: Swedish newspaper

STOCKHOLM: A leading Swedish newspaper on Saturday said the country would not apologise for the recent publication of a Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) cartoon, which has inflamed devout Muslims around the world.

Dagens Nyheter said in an editorial, Sweden “has a duty from now on to defend its principles and present an open dialogue”.

It said offended Muslims would not receive the apologies they were asking for.

Swedish newspaper Nerikes Allehanda published a blasphemous cartoon on August 18 to illustrate an editorial on self-censorship and freedom of expression and religion.

The Kabul Times, a religious Afghani newspaper, published on Saturday an article by religious leaders expressing their indignation at this “provocation”, according to Swedish press agency TT.

The publication of the cartoon has prompted angry reactions from Iran and Pakistan, which have both summoned Swedish diplomats to protest. The 57-nation Organisation of the Islamic Conference has also condemned the publication and urged the Swedish government to punish the artist and the publisher and demand an apology.

Svenska Dagbladet, another broadsheet, said Sweden was now in a situation “which could escalate and slip away from Swedish control”. Some observers did, however, note important differences with Denmark, where the publication of cartoons deemed offensive two years ago caused deadly riots in several countries.

Unlike its Danish neighbour, Sweden has a reputation for taking in refugees and immigrants, the paper said. Sweden is the primary destination in Europe for asylum-seeking Iraqis, who are the second-largest immigrant community there. On Friday, 200 Muslims protested in Oerebro, a town west of Stockholm where the Nerikes Allehanda is based.

Ulf Johanssen, the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, spoke with the head of the demonstration, but refused to offer any excuses to the protesters. “I regret if many (people) felt offended, that wasn’t my objective,” Dagens Nyheter quoted him as saying. afp

Islam does have blasphemy laws. The punishment is up to and including death. Classical sharia law, from what I've read, demands death as the standard penalty for blasphemy, whether it is by a Muslim or a non-Muslim. If a Muslim commits blasphemy, he is also considered, de facto, guilty of apostasy, which is also punishable by death.

My dogs say that Vilks should have used a slug, and not a canine, for the "body" of Mohammad.

Because dogs are loyal, bright, endlessly-curious beings who enjoy life, who will defend their friends fearlessly, and who have been at our side since before written history began as noble allies in our climb to Civilization.

Whereas slugs are shapeless blobs that merely leave trails of slime wherever they go, destroy our efforts at farming and landscaping, and never do or say anything even remotely intelligent.

Try calling a slug, or getting it to fetch.

PRCS--thanks for the link, I don't remember seeing that one of the Danish cartoons before. I doubt the stick figure one caused as much rage as the infamous turban-bomb Mo, but at the same time... wouldn't shock me if it did.
