Happy dhimmis gulled in Egypt. "Local educators learn about Islam on trip to Egypt," by Bill Zlatos for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
"The idea is most Americans don't know much about Islam except what you see in the headlines, which is all violence and oppression of women," said Rebecca Denova, visiting lecturer in religious studies at the University of Pittsburgh. "The purpose of the program is we need to teach more about Islam, starting in high school and in colleges."Denova was one of 12 teachers who went to Egypt from June 24 to July 22 as part of the Fulbright-Hays Program under the U.S. Department of Education. They eventually will hold workshops to train high school teachers about Islam, which has about 1.3 billion adherents, second behind Christianity, which has about 2 billion followers.
Others on the trip were Elaine Linn of Pitt; Christina Michelmore, Charlotte Lott and Deborah Rubin of Chatham University; Tracey-Ann Flynn of Hickory High School in Hermitage, Mercer County; Tony Gaskew of Pitt-Bradford; Fran Leap of Seton Hill University; Michale McKale of St. Francis University; Richard Saccone of St. Vincent College; Eric Tuten of Slippery Rock University; and Michael Yoder of Northside Urban Pathways Charter School, Downtown.
Leap said she came away from the trip with a deeper respect for Muslims and how fervently they practice their religion.
[...]
Another highlight for participants was meeting members of the Muslim Brotherhood, the leading opposition group in Egypt to President Hosni Mubarak.
I wonder if they learned that that "opposition group" was the direct forefather of Hamas and Al-Qaeda.
Yoder, a history and Spanish teacher, plans to use his experience to develop a class on world religions."We generally think of Muslims as radicals or extremists, and I would like to present a case of moderate Islam that has a deep desire to get along with Christians and Jews," he said. "Egypt is a good example of a place where Christians and Muslims have gotten along for centuries."
From 2007 alone:
Threats force Egyptian convert from Islam to Christianity to hide

"Leap said she came away from the trip with a deeper respect for Muslims and how fervently they practice their religion"
Priceless! She would no doubt also be impressed with how 'fervently' the manson family practiced their beliefs, or how 'fervently' dr. mengele pursued his scientific inquiries, or how 'fervently' the Rawandan Hutus acted on their attitude toward the Tutsis. Yes, the mahometans are nothing if not 'fervent'.
They just keep brainwashing our children more and more. Pathetic.
It's a very small step indeed from being fervent to being extremist.
Denova, visiting lecturer in religious studies at the University of Pittsburgh. "The purpose of the program is we need to teach more about Islam, starting in high school and in colleges."
Yes we do. This was unnecessary a few years ago, but now I agree with Denova, we need to teach more about Islam...The truth style, Spenser style, Hugh style, JW/DW style and several more styles available for teaching. The best style is a copy of the Quran, and selected Hadith, for every American who can read. Let him who can read, know. And let him that knows, teach. We are all teachers and we are also the taught. So learn true Islam, and teach true Islam, to those who will listen. Acquaint the unacquainted, inform the uniformed, and educate the uneducated. Make by our efforts, Islam, the most understood ideology, in the world today. Yep, the more the public knows about Islam, the better...
"We generally think of Muslims as radicals or extremists, and I would like to present a case of moderate Islam that has a deep desire to get along with Christians and Jews," he said. "Egypt is a good example of a place where Christians and Muslims have gotten along for centuries."
How does this sound?
We generally think of KKK members as radicals or extremists, and I would like to present a case for moderate Klansmen that have a deep desire to get along with Blacks and Jews," he said. "The South is a good example of a place where Jews, Blacks, and Klansmen have gotten along for centuries. (As long as Blacks and Jews know their places.)
I don't know where to start on this idiotic article. Even people who are somewhat sympathetic to Islam usually admit that Christians in Egypt are terribly treated, by the government and their fellow Muslim citizens. What is the Dept of Education doing sponsoring such a trip, where educators can have tea with the Muslim Brotherhood? Isn't it listed as a terror organization by the US State Department? Did anyone inform these 'educators' that from the Muslim Brotherhood came the evil doctor who sits on the right side of Osama bin Laden...you know the same two peaceful Muslims who planned the killing of 3,000 Americans? And, what did these 'educators' get out of the trip? That Christians take their shoes off before entering a church, just like the Muslims? Wow!! It's no wonder more and more parents homeschool their children.
Even if they cut off her head - her last act would be to flap here lips over the religion of peace.
There are some who are terminally naive.
Maybe these women can be circumcised while they're in Egypt: call it "cultrural immersion."
Moron Math:
1 group of stupid women + 1 guided tour of an Islamic country = spreading more stupidity throughout the US school system.
What a waste of time, they could have just logged onto JW/DW.
I despise these sort of tools. They'll return acting as if they actually "know something."
END TAXPAYER FUNDED DAWA NOW!!!
Some questions:
First who is financing this: Rebecca Denova, visiting lecturer in religious studies at the University of Pittsburgh
If it’s public funds they need to be pulled NOW! If it’s private company or indivicual, they need to have it explained that this kind of cultural Dhimmitude is unwanted with some economic pressure applied to them.
Next question:
Is this a government program: Fulbright-Hays Program under the U.S. Department of Education
If so, the entire program needs to be shut down NOW! No stalling, no but wait it does good excuses. It has stepped over the line of religious indoctrination of educators. Nothing smacks of the creeping Dhimmitude then using taxpayer funds for a Dawa program aimed at our own Education System. The employees of this program must be terminated immediately, no pension, no unemployment benefits, no severance package with a prohibition against working at any level of the government. (Federal, State, or Local)
These Bureaucrats of Dhimmitude are as much our enemies as the Jihadist indoctrinating the next Islamic “Smart” Bomb (AKA Homicide Bombers).
I've got news for you, senor. These school districts went into islamo overload after 9/11. Educators wanted to 'understand islam' and went about it with all sorts of indoctrinal tactics. Just like the nitwits on their Egyptian field trip, these people have no educational or religious formation. They are not operating from any significant base of truth or knowledge, and therefore the perfect candidates for dhimmitude.
I have never been to a concentration camp, but if I go, I'm sure I'll realize I am not at Disney Land.
"[Egypt is] A good example of a place where Christians and Muslims have gotten along for centuries"...pull the other leg, lady, it has bells on.
Most of us here who have read Robert Spencer's anthology, "The Myth of Islamic Tolerance", will have read Bat Ye'or's searing article, 'A Christian Minority: The Copts in Egypt'. However, for those who have not, I will quote certain paragraphs from that article, which provides the historical background for the present-day sufferings of the Copts.
"The jizya ['protection' money] was paid in the course of a ceremony during which dhimmis [non-Muslims under Muslim rule] were publicly humiliated by receiving a slap in the face or a blow on the back of the neck. The dhimmis were then issued with a receipt that allowed them to travel; however, SHOULD THEY LOSE IT, THEY COULD BE PUT TO DEATH. When a census was taken of monks in Egypt (715-717) they were obliged to wear a metal bracelet bearing their names and the date and name of their monastery. Any monk found without his bracelet was liable to have his hand cut off or be executed".
"The kharaj, the tax on non-Muslim land, REDUCED THE COPTS TO DESTITUTION: they abandoned their fields and MASS CONVERSIONS OCCURRED, but they were forcibly brought back by the army and obliged to pay the taxes (694-714).
"To prevent the Copts from abandoning their villages, the Arab army conducted a census and BRANDED THEM ON THE HAND AND THE BROW (705-717)...In 724 twenty four thousand Copts converted to Islam to escape ruinous taxes. The conversions impoverished the state; to discourage them, the jizya was also imposed on new converts...In Tinnis, in the eastern delta, taxes reduced the Copts to such destitution that they abandoned their children in slavery to the Arabs. THOSE WHO DID NOT PAY WERE THROWN INTO JAIL OR TORTURED...
"The exorbitant taxes and the tortures used to extort them provoked numerous revolts, which were brutally crushed. Thousands of Copts were killed, women and children enslaved, their property confiscated by the Arabs, who thus became more numerous in towns and villages"...
And so it goes on, from the 7th to the 20th century unceasingly, a heart-sickening catalogue of crimes against humanity. Bat Yeor notes that "IN EVERY PERIOD, monasteries and churches were despoiled, burned and destroyed".
It might be good, indeed, to photocopy the entire article and mail copies to Ms Denova at the University of Pittsburgh; to Ms Leap; and to all the other Useful Idiots - and their school or college.
They owe it to their students to teach them the truth.
Another copy should go, with a suitable covering note, to whoever is in charge of the Fulbright-Hays program at the US Department of Education.
Perhaps this story should also be passed to Mr Walid Phares and to other Coptic Christian activists and advocates in the United States and elsewhere so that they may formally protest the folly of someone like Fran Leap who has blithely swallowed the Myth of Islamic Tolerance in the very same country where a Muslim convert to Christianity, and his wife, were just this last month forced to go into hiding lest those oh-so-tolerant Muslims put them to death for the 'sin' of 'apostasy'.
One could only have hoped that Denova would have committed some grievous Mohammedan faux pas (maybe sporting an "I Love Sweden" T-shirt?), and that their bus was surrounded by enraged rioters, scaring the hell out of the tourists, and they then had to flee for their lives to escape from Egypt.
That would have been educational.
The itinerary, as arranged, was just Islamo-Fantasyland for suckers.
Exactly just how did the Egyptian moslems get on so remarkable well with the JOOOOOOOOOOS, who were uncerimoniously stripped of all their possessions and kicked out of the country in 1956 with NO RIGHT OF RETURN OR RECOURSE OF ANY KIND?
One such famous individual is Bat Y'eor.
Of course everyone is just as aware of their plight as of the "oppressed" palestonians. (I am sure, NOT !)
This is just one of tons of examples of izlamofacist tolerance, love and respect for KUFFAR.
When I went to High School, bible clubs were teaching the word to the students, but that pratice was removed from the schools. Now, they are going to teach about islam?
The Keystone state may sink if this continues, it has hit the berg..
What needs to happen is for these female western school teachers and professors is for them to visit the forbidden or old quarters of Alexandria and Cairo, these are places where infidels are not welcome, especially western females in shorts and tank tops.
They'll get a introduction to Islam they won't soon forget, provided they live through it.
perhaps the thing to do is to send this ivory tower airhead written proof to show were she is wrongas the problem with academics is that they tend to only want to listen to what supports their beliefs and bias and dismiss the truth if it's unpleasant and does not work in supporting what they believe I've seen this myself and my family as my father is a retired academic and having been around academics most my life I have found unfortunately they are rather close minded and pass that attitude along to their student rather than teaching them keep an open mind like they should
So, they went to Egypt, BFD! Where did they go, and to whom did they talk? Who led them around? This sounds like someone going to Cancun and claiming to know all about Mexico.

The Egyptian Court to the Muslims: You can kill the Egyptian Christians (Copts) with impunity. There was no punishment for any Muslims who murdered Christians in cold blood.
An urgent appeal to the United Nations to protect the Copts in Egypt.
Perhaps this is more fervent?
True - as alone as the non-muslims are Dhimmi. Me? I reject Dhimmitude.
Somehow I don't think he was permitted to visit the Coptic Christians.
Please note, not all the beknighted folks on this junket were women. I count at least 4 men in the group. They are likely just as "stupid" on the subject of islam as the female teachers.
I have nothing against students studying comparative religion, as long as all religions are taught, and as long as the truth is told about each. Fat chance of that happening in our politically correct society. If my kids were still in school, I would refuse permission for them to attend any class where they would be taught about "moderate muslims". Impossible to do that at the university level, of course. You can only hope they will make up their own minds. But I fear our young people are being brainwashed by apologists for islam such as the professors above. I wonder if they had a chance to take in any public floggings or stonings while in Egypt?
Speaking of Comparative Religion classes, where the students are exposed to a teacher who believes, and teaches, that dhimmitude is the best path, that same teacher then spreads those lies to her history class, which is a required class for all impressionable 10th graders. In fact, the 'history' about the middle east was actually about Islam, and how 'great' it is, and how the christians and the jews tried to 'steal' the lands from the 'peaceful' and 'tolerant' Muslims.
In case you're interested, those two classes are taught at Sammamish High School, in Bellevue WA
actually, i believe the opposite is true - i think they're "so open-minded" their brains fell out.
There are two props at a Muslim Brotherhood initiation - the Qur'an and a gun.
Need we say more?
"Leap said she came away from the trip with a deeper respect for Muslims and how fervently they practice their religion."
- - - -
Maybe she'll go to Saudi Arabia with a Bible, and find out how fervent they really are. But will she still respect them the next morning?
From the article
Did the participants meet with any Coptics, or other Christians, to find out how well the Muslims have gotten along with non-Muslims over the centuries? Did their complete and unbiased learning experience consist of meeting only with Muslims? Can an Islamic terrorist organization be trusted as the main source of information about Islamic-Christian relations?
Just adding to 'special guest's remarks: I bet these people did not get to meet the families of the numerous Coptic Christian girls who in the past ten years or so have been seduced or abducted, raped, sometimes drugged or tortured, 'converted' to Islam and 'married' to their rapists.
Oh, and I notice one of the group, a Mr Michael Yoder is a HISTORY and SPANISH teacher. Betcha he's swallowed the myth of Golden Andaluz.
Time for someone to send him a copy of 'Legacy of Jihad', with bookmarks handily inserted at the section to do with Jihad in Spain - how it was raided, weakened, invaded and occupied and what the various warring, corrupt, ruthlessly cruel and incompetent Muslim despots did to Spain's resource base and its Christian and Jewish populations (i.e. massacres, massacres, massacres) and how many slaves the Moors kidnapped from across the border in France, etc.
