Fitzgerald: Stop the Saudi lobby

A Jihad Watch reader recently noted: “When Israel attacked Iraq’s nuclear reactor in July 1981, John West (Ambassador to S.A. 1977-1981) sent a letter to the House of Foreign Affairs Committee asking that punitive action be taken against Israel. As ambassador, West provoked major controversy when he facilitated the contracting of a private public relations firm by the government of Saudi Arabia to lobby for the sale of F-15’s.”

John C. West's old friend Crawford Cook was, at West's urging, hired by the Saudis. On the campus of the University of South Carolina, at some "Center" named after Ernest Hollings (himself a big promoter of the Saudis, as he was a denigrator of Israel), you can find the names of both "John C. West" and "Crawford Cook."

But then there is James Akins, in a class by himself. He was the American ambassador to Saudi Arabia during that critical year 1973, and finally had to be fired even by Kissinger for his blatant behavior. Imagine what James Akins sent back to Washington about OPEC and the quadrupling of oil prices. Do you think he warned anyone that this was dangerous, given what Saudi Arabia was like, because much of that money was likely to be used abroad to promote the spread of Islam? Do you think James Akins -- who still insists that Israel "deliberately" attacked the U.S.S. Liberty during the Six-Day War, which at this point, after the release of the Israeli pilots' tapes, no one except convinced antisemites could possibly maintain -- warned Washington about the future uses of that oil money?

What about Raymond Close, who was C.I.A. station chief in Jeddah, or was it Riyadh, from 1970 to 1977, again during the critical years when policy toward newly-rich Saudi Arabia might have been differently crafted if accurate information about the attitudes of Saudis toward Infidels had been accurately conveyed? Close took early retirement and then immediately went into business with two well-connected Saudi businessmen, one of them a former Saudi intelligence head. When do you think he started getting those job offers from the Saudis -- after he retired, or before? And he then went on to be involved in the banking scandal (was it the BCCI? I can't remember) and various arms transfers, and then of course continued writing about American foreign policy and the need to jettison Israel and be grateful to Saudi Arabia for all it has done for us, and is trying to do. For all I know he continues this to this day, from his home in Princeton. Just a few years ago another contact and sympathizer of his got him a gig as a "Stimson Fellow" at Yale -- these people are all over the place.

And then there is Eugene Bird, that "patriot," that genuine American "patriot," who cares only for the National Interest. That is why he heads up something called the "Council for the National Interest," which somehow has enough money to pay for full-page ads in The Times, and more than once, and which pushes a policy of denouncing...the "Israel Lobby" and offering suggestions identical to those of the Saudi government.

And there are so many others, of both parties -- Fred Dutton, the former Kennedy apparatchik. A dozen different Washington lobbying firms. This also includes everyone who ever got an expensive present from Prince Bandar, who dropped off a Jaguar as a token of his affection for Mrs. Colin Powell. The ostentatiously upright Powell apparently thought that was just swell. He never apparently thought he should refuse to accept it. Yet it not only looks bad, it is bad.

Has Congress taken it upon itself to make such names as "Raymond Close" and "James Akins" and "Eugene Bird" and others well known to the American public? Has Congress asked to see what information was sent back to Washington in 1973, during the quadrupling of oil prices, by both Akins and Close? It hasn't? Why not?

If that information is not made public, and the recipients of Saudi and other Arab largesse not publicly revealed, then what will prevent the Saudis, in the next decade, from spreading their wealth around in exactly the same ways, to exactly the same effect? We cannot take away all their money -- though we can severely limit what they can send to this country to pay for mosques and madrasas where literature preaching hate for Infidels has been found (see the report of the Center for Religious Freedom). But we can subject to close and critical scrutiny those who have in the past received such Saudi and other Arab financial support, directly and indirectly, as a complement to making it illegal to receive sums above, say, $50,000 a year from any foreign country, and to make sure all loopholes are closed and the moral hatches battened down. The American government and the people it presumes to protect can't take much more of this.

Anti-Semitism and the Anti-Israel Lobby By Jeff Robbins

A crop of Israel's critics -- most prominently Jimmy Carter and now Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer, the authors of "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy" -- have managed something of a feat: They express no concerns about the massive pro-Arab effort, funded in significant measure by foreign oil money, taking American Jews to task for participating in the American political process; meanwhile, they inoculate themselves against charges of anti-Jewish bias by pre-emptively predicting that "the Jewish lobby" will accuse them of it.

Messrs. Walt and Mearsheimer, in particular, have been heralded by Israel's critics for their "courage" in ...

Discussed at Captains Quarters in thread titled,

"Anti-Semitism Is As Anti-Semitism Does"
http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/012688.php

The problem here is that the endemic corruption that is associated with Islam seems to be infectious and that western diplomats and politicians who come into contact with them soon come down with the same disease. No doubt the vector, as usual, is money. Not hard to work out in a world where money is the main lubricant and the far too often sole objective of most of its inhabitants.

It is not just the west who are spiritually barren here but just look a the power broking imams who are responsible for most of the problem: do you see any half starved ones riding around on bicycles?

Islam is not just a supremacist political ideology. It is also an economic ideology of greed and lust. Even those who die for the cause have supposed lust fulfillment in heaven while the gullible west allows Islamic greed to thrive by unappreciated aid, seen as an islamic right.
even thought he Mediterranean corsairs were destroyed by the 1840s Islam still managed to find groups to exterminate or enslave(Armenians. Greeks, sudanese etc)

But I ask you: when islam conquers the world, who will then supply the greed need for the fat imams once there is no west or anywhere else to parasitise?

Give me Iran anytime-those fiends make no bones about what they think of us. Unlike our good friends the Saudis, who feel the same way but are constantly smiling while filling the pockets of our so-called leaders to do their bidding for them.

As for MisIslamist's question about who will be the fat imams' host once they conquer the world the answer is simple- they will all die off. Islamania survives by preying upon others and never produces anything of meaningful value. Kill the host and the parasite will follow. Of course this bunch will speed up that process of self destruction-once the infidels are gone they will prey upon each other to crown the most deserving of their god's glory.

I worked on the F-15 Eagle Program at McDonnell Douglas, and can tell you that a significant amount of arm twisting at the State Dept. occurred. Israel bought the F-15, also, and the production schedules overlapped with the "Kingdom's" (as they would have us refer to them). Once, one of the Faisals I believe, visited the production facility and sat in a F-15, one bearing the Star of David! Talk about major gaffes.

The Kuwaitis bought 24 F/A-18 Hornets in the early 1990's, but they weren't delivered in time to use against Saddam.

The striking thing about both of these sales is that the Saudis and the Kuwaitis feared their Islamic brethen more than Israel. The Saudis feared involvement in the Iran-Iraq war, and the Kuwaitis feared annexation by Saddam.

This is a bit off topic, but I wanted to let people know that Bill Buckley, who has long been a significant voice in the American conservative movement, is sounding an urgent alarm about Islam and is counseling strong response.

"Stop the Saudi lobby"

Good idea. No, a great idea. A long overdue idea.

But how?

The average citizen, in the US and throughout the West, is probably wondering how it has come to such a pass. But if the above essay paints the picture, even in part, how do small people, without great financial resources, who are worried about bills and mortgages and raising families in a world in which "values" are shifting, how do these folks get their voices heard, heard to the point where change is effected?

It's not going to be easy. It will require personal involvement. It will involve study, not only of the ideology of Islam and the threat it poses to decent society but refresher civics courses, understanding our own governments and how they work as well as how they can be abused. All of which is to be followed by organization on the grass roots level. In the US, the Democratic and Republican parties are equally suspect, in my view. The Democrats in that they defend policies of multiculturism and cultural relativism that are intended to lull the citizenry into a soporific stupor. The Republicans in that they all too frequently are connected to big money (read "big oil") interests that are not in the interests of the American people. They might as well be crying "Allahu Bankbook" for the effect they are having on their country.

As for "Grass roots organization," it could mean increased involvement of the citizenry, in town hall meetings, in municipal elections, in state elections, in federal elections, making this an issue. It could mean some thought going into breaking the death grip that political correctness has on media reporting, followedby action. But for all of this, it will come down to the actions of lots of little guys, dedicated little guys, to break the grip Saudi money has on the West.

"to making it illegal to receive sums above, say, $50,000 a year from any foreign country"

....I firmly believe is stopping the jiyzah, no more foreign aid, not one more dime to a Muslim country....I have come to believe it is imperative to also stop the money from coming in...lets make it illegal to receive $10,000. from any foreign country or government or Muslim entity of any kind....

....Our country is being overwhelmed by Muslim money coming in to buy off college professors, finance mosques, buy off politicians, to buy off local politicians , to impress the mush brained youth in our country with material goods bought by muslim money, to finance cross border movement of men and material for future attacks, to finance safe houses, to pay for security from the investingating Feds....to purchase weapons and explosives....to buy communication equipment, night vision goggles, gps units, anti bugging detector equipment, to buy whatever is necessary to conceal from within....

...Muslim money is financing the Muslim army within our borders....

...lets go with no money out and no money in...

...lets Ban Muslim Immigration...

But is $50K enough to cover a Clinton speaking engagement?

And then with a limit, how is W ever going to catch up?

With the president/commander-in-chief in Riyadh's pocket, what chance does USA stand?

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POST THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AT OTHER WEBSITES

The U.S. Senate Project (an initiative to increase congressional awareness of the nature and goals of jihad) currently has 77 volunteers in 38 states.

WE ARE STILL SEEKING ADDITIONAL CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FROM ALL 50 STATES, ESPECIALLY THE FOLLOWING 13:

Connecticut
Delaware
Hawaii
Kansas
Louisiana
Mississippi
Montana
North Dakota
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Vermont
West Virginia
Wyoming

The Project: We're looking for people in every state of the Union who would be willing to purchase, from Amazon or any other source, a copy of Robert Spencer's Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is and Islam Isn't and mail it, on an agreed upon date, to one of the senators in your state. We want to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message. If we get more than two people per state, books can also be sent to the U.S. House of Representatives.

If you’d like to be involved, please write to me at traehnam@yahoo.com under the subject heading “Senate,” and tell me the state your senator represents, an email address where I can reach you, and a nickname. No need for your real name. And I will never share your email address with anyone, not even with other volunteers for this project.

And visit www.jihadawareness.blogspot.com to get more info on this project and to leave comments other volunteers can read. You can also see there the growing list of participants in this project, and the states their senators represent. I've also designed a graphic that might amuse. Scroll down when you get to the site.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.

Right before each of us mails the book, we can issue a press release to various media outlets in every state, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.

One of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the Anti-Jihad Caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick to maximize its effectiveness. I've also been calling various congressional offices to get advice on how best to go about the project.

I prefer Hobby Lobby over Saudi Lobby. Saudi Lobby sells only lies and lots of double dealing with plenty of bait and switch operations.

Some of America's worst enemies are now or have been, in the state department.

It must be the heady atmosphere of having others - who are equally meaningless - tell you how important you are that breeds this faux sense of superiority.

This is a bit off topic, but I wanted to let people know that Bill Buckley, who has long been a significant voice in the American conservative movement, is sounding an urgent alarm about Islam and is counseling strong response.

What took him so long? Just a few months ago, he seemed CLUELESS about islam, as dense as GWB and the rest of the jackals in DC. I read National Review and I waited and waited for him to say something relevant about islam to indicate that he understands the true menace. Finally, almost six years after 9-11, he came through!

I wonder who got his attention?

We should break diplomatic relations and sever all ties with SA. They should not be allowed to spend a dime in the US or own a single stock of American companies. No more Saudi students, no more diplomatic "pouches" the size of 747s containing what??

As supporters of the thug wahabbi sect and promulgators of this seditious group in our country, the Saudis are our implacable enemy, dedicated to our ultimate destruction as a nation.

The dhimmis in the whitehouse, state and congress are afraid of crossing this enemy, afraid to label them for what they are, or if not that, are already bought to feather their post-government careers as lobbyists and Saudi apologists.

The fear of "loosing" Saudi oil is moronic. The Saudis have to sell oil into the international market to survive - oil is all they have. Oil is fungible. Lots of sellers, lots of buyers. If they do not feed the market, the Russians will.

Break relations with them; no more arms, no more of anything. And no more USAID for any Muslim country. Let them and the Iranians have at it. And kick the Islamophiles out of the State Dept.

And cement a strong military pact with Israel against all comers.

I think the Saudis are a bigger problem than any other islamic state.
The US should take them over.

They are the ones spreading islam. They have enough money to buy the whole world,,and they are doing just that!

traeh,
I look forward to your updates whenever I read articles on this site. Well done!

Don't miss this one either. One of the best!

I would like to add to Hugh's list of ex-State Dept personnel who went on to become Arab agents, the name of Edward Abington. He was the US consul general in Jerusalem for several years in the 1990s. After leaving the State Dept, he signed on as a paid rep for the PLO in Washington, DC. I understand that he wrote one of those moderate sounding op ed pieces signed by Arafat that appeared on the New York Times op ed page over the past 15 years. According to what I read, Abington's yearly salary from the PLO was $750,000, as I recall. That money would buy food and school books for a lot of Arab children. But it doesn't seem that the welfare of Arab children was the uppermost concern of Arab political leaders and chieftains --or of ex-State Dept officials.

be stupid thing about the oil that Saudi Arabia is using to finance a slow jihad against the infidels the West was originally developed with Western technology and Western money without it they would still be living in mud huts and out in the desert at heart they are still very primitive people that are living back in the seventh century when Muslims conquered other people and lived off themand well they have not conquered the West yet with the quislings in the State Department they may not need to! Stupid thing about this is that there is enough oil in the West that we do not need to buy any oil from the Middle East but various special interest groups have stopped drilling offshore in California in the name of ecology get the same oil lobby apparently opposes alternate energy sources to their paid lobbyists that used to work for the state Department who oppose anything that might cut off all that jizha of oil money the Muslims in the Middle East by receiving end of play them live the way they did before off protection money a.k.a. jizha the way they did it for the oil money came along and wants the oil money dried up you will probably see them them beging more money from Western nations in effect we will become their sheep
to be sheered

Those scoundrels who accuse supporters of Israel of undermining American interests, are the ones who are actually undermining American interests with their financial connections to that hell-hole Saudi Arabia and its filthy, fowl, inbred royal family. It is such a filthy, barbaric culture which has never progressed since medieval times. Saudi “men” are particularly hideous looking, physically repulsive creatures who walk around with tablecloths on their heads and robes.

These Saudi lobbyists should be considered traitors who ought to be arrested and sent to Gitmo. They sure as hell aren’t real Americans. As far as Saudi Arabia itself is concerned, that country ought to be declared an enemy terrorist state which we should bomb from Riyad to Mecca and Medina, targeting every mosque in the country in the process, as well as every property of that disgusting terrorist-supporting royal family. Saudi Arabia should be turned into rubble.
