Hamid Hayat Update. "Hamid Hayat sentenced" by Layla Bohm for the Lodi News-Sentinel:
Lodi resident Hamid Hayat was sentenced Monday to 24 years in federal prison after a jury convicted him of supporting terrorists and then lying about it to the FBI.
Hayat, who turned 25 Monday, has been jailed since June 2005, when he was arrested during a large scale FBI investigation in Lodi. He had faced a maximum of 39 years in federal prison, though U.S. District Judge Garland E. Burrell Jr. noted his lack of criminal record at sentencing — but not before issuing strong words about the defendant.
"Hamid Hayat attended a terrorist training camp, returned to the United States ready and willing to wage violent jihad when directed to do so regardless of the havoc such jihad could wreak on persons and property within the United States," Burrell said as he handed down the sentence.
Hayat, wearing shackles and orange jail clothing, expressed no visible emotion. His mother and 12-year-old sister, seated in the courtroom behind him, cried silently. His father, Umer Hayat, said his son is innocent.
"It's a sad day for us but we are confident he's going to get out on appeal," he said.
Another story at EarthTimes specifies that the case will go to the rather infamous 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Stay tuned.

The defense, as well as the Muslim community, has expressed strong skepticism of the government's methods. If nothing else, the government "sent a clear message to the Muslim community that you do not speak to the FBI without a lawyer present," said Basim Elkarra, executive director for the Central Valley branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
Of course the defense did. That's kind of their job.
Hamid Hayat's relatives, no matter how far removed(not going back as far as Ishmael of course), should be deported!
"His father, Umer Hayat, said his son is innocent."
Yes least we forget, according to the Mohammedan all believers are "innocent". The one that acts as a purchasing agent for the Jihad Cell is "innocent". The leader that plans the strike is "innocent". The surveillance team that stakes out the operational theater is "innocent". And lastly the Homicide Bomber that carries off the operation isn't just innocent, but a “Revered Martyr”.
But the Kafur are never "innocent".

Why can't they do this to all of them?
How hard is it? Expand Gitmo!
If this creature is not a natural born citizen he must be deported when the sentence is up. For people convicted of terrorist ties, there must be no parole and immediate deportation.
Accrding to Musharaff, there are no terror training camps in pakistan. Then who is giving training in the ISI training camps for Pakistan government to terrorists?
The recent attack of a training centre of SSG commandos is a case in point.
Now, although sentencing Hayat is a good start, what Americans need to know is what is the US government going to do about the 45 (if not more) Islamic jihad training camps operating on American territory? And exactly when is it going to get started on doing it?
The jihad training camps are here, they're threatening, and they are in need of being eliminated ASAP.
Ya got your wish, Pelayo,...well in part...
He was convicted in the Federal system, not the state...had it been California, their parole system woulda made him eligible after 5-7 years...whereas the Feds, there is no parole system...he will serve all 24 years, with the only exception being "time served" already (about 2 years), so the soonest he will get out will be 2029.
Apart from the usual predictable durkanese & their 5th columnists hiding out in san franpsycho & doing protests at the behest of their islamo-commie bosses (like todays lamefest), the rest of California, regardless of backgrounds, both liberal & conservative, traditional & secular-progressive, all agree this piece of trash is going down, and isn't fooling anyone about his motives...a very positive outlook for us out here, but by no means over & done with.
No terror training camps in Pakistan? hahahaha
hey a new sentence was handed down in Texas on the Houston Taliban case. Convict gets 6 1/2 years. You can read the article we captured. Its the last link on this page.
