And they're talking about their air force, not suicide bombers, though the Revolutionary Guards wouldn't let that be neglected. An update on this story, by Ali Akbar Dareini for the Associated Press:
TEHRAN, Iran - The deputy commander of Iran's air force said Wednesday that plans have been drawn up to bomb Israel if the Jewish state attacks Iran, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
The announcement comes amid rising tensions in the region with the United States calling for a new round of U.N. sanctions against Iran over its disputed nuclear program and Israeli planes having recently overflown, and perhaps even attacked, Iranian ally Syria's territory.
"We have drawn up a plan to strike back at Israel with our bombers if this regime (Israel) makes a silly mistake," deputy air force chief, Gen. Mohammad Alavi was quoted as telling Fars in an interview.
The Fars news agency confirmed the quotes when contacted by the Associated Press, but would not provide a tape of the interview. The Iranian Air Force, for its part, had no immediate comment on the interview.
Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammed Najjar, however, did tell the official IRNA news agency Wednesday that "we keep various options open to respond to threats ... we will make use of them if required."
Iran has threatened in the past that Israel would be Iran's first retaliatory target if attacked by the United States. But Alavi's comments were the first word of specific contingency plans for striking back on Israel.
let them try it
ROFL!!!
This "plan" would be over in a matter of minutes with Israeli jets having some boring target practice. Israeli pilots are probably the best in the world...neck and neck with U.S. topgun pilots.
Didn't the iranians see what Israel did to syria? A nice quick campain-in and out-mission accomplished. Syria couldn't even defend themselves. Israel just sent another satellite into space. Iran might have weapons aimed at Israel, but I really don't think they can hit anything-well not anything that will give them an advantage in war. They need to be able to take out Israels airforce and other strategic areas. They might have intelligence help from russia or china, but my money would be on Israel.

This animal is very vicious. When attacked, it defends itself.
US tech and IDF pilots... The best thing that could come from Iran attacking Israel by air would be some very entertaining episodes of "Dogfights" on the History Channel.
Kaaboom! There goes the Dynamite. You know what GWB would do or try to do, but let us go into the future in our converted Delorean time machine.
Question: What will Congress and soon to be President Clinton II do once our ally Israel, beecomes involved in a war with Iran, Syria, Eygypt, Saudi's, etal that takes longer than a week?
Question 2: What will Congress, and President Clinton II do once our ally Israel is reduced to a smoking heap, while they attempted to convince the UN Security Council that the UN should get involved. (Maybe Pakistan will send some bombs to replace the N Korean nuclear material that was just destroyed in Syria)?
Question 3: What fun will the other riff raff, (Argentina, Iran, Algeria, etal) in the UN Assembly have concerning any attempts mentioned in Question 2?
Question 4: Would Jihadists and Arab governments be satisfied with the total destruction of Israel and resultant genocide, or would that only prime their Jihad pump?
Question 5: What would happen to our other mutual assistance pacts, when our allies saw that we failed to act to help our prime ally in the middle east. Would those alliances crumble.
Given the new Get-your-Groove-On-Move-On-Pacifist makeup of our government, would we abdicate our role as the world's superpower, to our new role as world's sideline cheerleader (It is a certainty that our new govt will look better in a skirt or hot pants) with a busy signal on the hotline. Will we find out that Sally Fields was right, that if we had women leaders, then there would be no war anymore? Or would we become a target for those Jihadist or not) that would assume our female leaders are weak? Would we talk, rather than act? Or would the women have to prove that they had "balls" and need to overcome the perception that women are soft.
Like I said, Kaboom, it opens up all sorts of possiblities and scenarios. What do you think?
This animal is very vicious. When attacked, it defends itself.
The prez ackmadinejihad, has been running his head for how long (?) about how Israel should be "wiped off the map"...
BTW, where did Saddam's weapons of mass destruction go?

lol@ topic...
as if they "just started"...hell, they've been planning that for over 27 years. Puhlease!
This is old news. You mean to tell me that did'nt have plans drawn up to bomb Israel the last 200 times they said that.
I think they are acting a little scared. They know that America will respond to protect Isreal, so they are buying the media and press while they can.
Gleiwitz Alert!
Just in...

World "CUD"s day, hmmm?
That's October 12...
Lock & Load
Iran says that it will bomb Israel, and the U.S. responds that that is "not helpful", and "possibly even provocative".
I'm no fan of bellicose posturing, but this timid mewling is downright embarrassing. It would have been better to remain silent than to make these small choked squeaking sounds. Say nothing, and leave the Iranians wondering.

If Israel "attacks", we all know what it would be attacking: the Iranian nuclear weapons program that Ahmedinijad has already promised to use against Israel and the West. Iran has to understand that we will not trust them to build up an arsenal of WMD's. End of story.

October 12...hmmmm?
Looks like we might see how this pans out...and see just who means what...
@jcom--
Or is it Friday, October 5?? See article in bar to the right of the article in your link entitled:
International Qod's Day Worldwide to be observed on Friday, October 5
One counter attack, two counter attacks, three counter attacks, four, thats all you get, there ain't no more...
Iran will be lucky to get four missiles off before the sky falls on them...
Forgive me...but how exactly do these bombers of your get there?
http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/cia07/iran_sm_2007.gif
Flyover Iraq? Hmm. Interesting thought. Their friends the Saudis? I guess it's possible to get there. Too bad the bombers won't be coming back.
I know! Turkey! The Turks would love having their airspace violated. (Too bad about that NATO thingy.)
Oh,err, and those bombers of yours. What are you going to use, exactly? Passenger planes loaded with explosives?

Imamadman has some nerve!
True mepeteart,
but regardless if they contradicted themselves by the two, or whether it's one or the other (though intel suspects the later date, as it falls around the "night of power" phase)...it's alarming to announce such a thing in such ominous fashion amidst things being as tense as they are right now (much higher than the usual "clockspring" tensions common there).
best thing to do is BOLO especially between Oct 2 & end of their ramalamadingdong, and even then, not to let our guard down for a second.
Iran should 'draw up plans' for a spanking.
Well, if the mOslem munchkin gets his way, that may just happen...
you hear he wants to go "visit" ground zero???
Talk about a death wish!
(heard it on FoxNews just a few moments ago).
That's a riot waiting to happen...
The Iranian government wants to bomb israel. So what else is new. What the Iranian government should be more worried about is their high inflation, high unemployment, crime, drug abuse, homelessness. It is those problems that are the biggest threats to the ayatollah's islamic paradise.
This whole issue of "peaceful" Nuclear Energy and Iran could be settled quite easily.
If there is no reactor for the Fuel and there is no infrastructure to make use of the Electricity. Then what other purpose does it serve?
Where is the Proof of Peaceful intentions?
Iran Bombing Israel? For Iran it is a Lose them or lose them situation. One way or another the vast majority will be one way missions. If the Pilots don't fly the Coop like Saddams Air Force did.
Those Iranian baboons would be better served by drawing up plans for fallout shelters.
I hope they get the old Nagasaki, Hiroshima, 1-2.
If anybody feels like exploring some bizarre Doublethink go over to www.eappi.org/eappi.nsf and read the 'journal entries, articles and reports by 'ecumenical accompaniers' [aka World Council of Churches' Useful Idiots].
Especially one of the most recent, 15.8.07, by one Trond K Botnen of Norway, entitled "Surrounded By Enemies" .
You will find there, despite the title, not one syllable betraying any knowledge of the fiendishly genocidal Hamas Charter, nor any apparent awareness of the genocidal plans being openly broadcast by Iran.
Rather, it is a totally decontextualised faux-naive sob story about a Little Village of Poor Palestinians who are being Occupied and Persecuted by the Evil Zionists.
Read it and weep (or perhaps, vomit) at the bottomless ignorance - or, possibly, the deliberate and malicious obfuscations - of the writer.
That reminds me...

A "Final response"???
HHHMMMMmmmmmm...
so THAT's what they call the "Final Solution" these days?
and "zionist regime" I presume is the new lexicon for "jewish question"?
Wow, looks like I better brush up on new lexicons-they keep changing all the time.
@ jcom - I wake up every morning wondering, "Is this the day??" So no, I never let down my guard...It's a hell of a way to live, ain't it? All thanks to the religion of pieces.
iamnot,
I have to disagree with you. I really don't think the result of a airbattle between the IDF and Iran will make a very good episode of "Dogfights". There won't be a dogfight...it'll be more like a 'mangey dog run over by a mack truck' type of encounter.
If they did the show minute-by-minute, and the Syrians jumped into the battle with the Iranians, the entire action MIGHT last long enough for one episode. The show will be something like this:
Syrian jets scream of their runways and are blown out of the sky shortly after takeoff without ever sighting the attackers.
Iranians fighter jets, streaking towards Israeli airspace, are blown out of the sky without ever sighting their attackers.
It'll pretty much be that way all through the show. Lord...I'd LOVE to see it in person!!
I do believe it's coming, and I truly hope they come out and fight. The lines are converging...I sincerely hope everyone is ready for whatever might come.
mepeteart,
ya get used to it...I have since 1974...career military.
The attack has iran in panic mode it's reported...
well, good...lol
Israel Attack Has Iran in Panic Mode

Israel's air strike on Syria has Iran and other Arab states "in a panic," Israeli government sources tell NewsMax.
On Sept. 6, Israeli aircraft attacked a site in Syria believed to be a nuclear-related facility containing material delivered by North Korea.
In a story for the Sunday Times of London, reporter Uzi Mahnaimi revealed that Israeli jets were directed to the site 50 miles from the Iraqi border by a commando team using lasers beams to pinpoint the location. Mahnaimi is the son of an Israeli general, and is very well connected.
According to Mahnaimi, the Syrians are contemplating their next move. “All I can say is the military and political echelon is looking into a series of responses as we speak," said Syrian Vice President Farouk al-Sharaa.
Israel also has been keeping most details of the raid a secret, but the government is pleased by the effect of the attack.
"This has restored to an extent some of the deterrence that we lost last year during the second Lebanon war,” a senior Israeli government official tells NewsMax.
Iran, whose president says Israel should be wiped off the map, adopted a war footing after the attack. On Sunday it vowed that if it is attacked by the U.S., 500 to 600 Shahab-3 missiles would be ready to launch on Israel.
The Iranians announced Tuesday morning that they were blocking Gmail and Google access to Internet users inside Iran.
