Iraq: Misunderstanders of Islam continue with creation of "Islamic Cabinet"

Here yet again, jihadists present themselves as the exponents of "true Islamic teachings." Yet in the American and European mainstream one must hold to the dogma that the jihadists twist the true, peaceful Islamic teachings, or risk being ruled out of polite discourse. Of course, there is no Pope of Islam, so no one can say definitively that anyone else does or does not represent "true Islamic teachings," but the force of the jihadist appeal in the Islamic world is undeniable, and it is silly and self-defeating for Western analysts to ignore or reflexively deny that they have a case, or even worse, to charge those who report that this appeal does have power in the Islamic world with "agreeing with Osama bin Laden" or "racism" or "bigotry." This also undercuts any efforts by sincere Muslim reformers, since it denies that there is anything that needs reforming.

I'll happily accept that the jihadists do not represent true Islamic teachings as soon as peaceful Muslims begin to mount a large-scale successful counter to this jihadist claim.

"Minister named to 'Islamic Cabinet,'" from AP (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - A Sunni insurgent coalition in Iraq announced Monday the appointment of an education minister to the group's so-called 10-member "Islamic Cabinet," set up in April to challenge the Iraqi government.

In a statement posted on an Islamic Web site, the Islamic State of Iraq, made up of eight insurgent groups, including al-Qaida in Iraq, said its leader Abu Omar al-Baghdadi chose Mohammed Khalil al-Badria for the education position.

Al-Baghdadi tasked al-Badria with "protecting our sons against moral and ideological deviation and raising a new generation of sons of Islam based on true Islamic teachings and away from the filth of secular tenets."

Hmmm, Saudi backed al Qaeda Sunni insurgents versus Iranian backed Iraqi puppet government Shi'ites. Who could have seen that one coming?

Democracy is taking root in the Middle East, didnt you know?

IsraelNN.com) Iran’s Mehr News Agency reports that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met with senior Fatah official Farouk Kadoumi Tuesday, praising Fatah for staying tru to the path of “armed struggle”

“The Palestinian problem is still an open wound for the entire Islamic world and regional nations,” Ahmadinejad said. “The only way to treat it is the resistance of the Palestinian nation, accompanied by faith, unity and a firm stance.”

The Iranian President added that there is nobody who can beat the Arabs of “Palestine” and promised that the world’s current superpowers are on their way to destruction http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/132777

Once again Islamania shows its lack of originality. Such a statement sounds like it was uttered by the Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution regarding Marxism. Given the tenets of the Koran al-Badria will probably end up trying to outdo the Chinese. Good thing Iraq's population is far smaller.

Islam may be many things to many people , but no one can ever prove that the jihad killers are not following mohammads example in spirit or in letter. He was a terrorist and his followers are encouraged to be terrorist as well.

I am looking for blue thumbs from the election. I would not let this guy teach your kids much less mine or anyone's. Because there is no truth in Islam.

Realize they don't teach anything they only memorizes by rout. Someone told me that most of the imam (teachers) can't read or right Arabic. They have just learned to say the words phonetically. They have no idea what they are saying much less what it means. This is another way of keeping the truth from the lemmings (I mean muslims).

Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart.
