A group of Muslim worshippers were gathered for evening prayer inside the Islamic Center of Southern California when Moses Port and David Guarascio arrived."The fact that we're here is bigger than anything we could have even hoped for," said Guarascio, creator, along with Port, of the CW sitcom "Aliens in America." "But being here seems to make sense, you know, appropriate."
Appropriate, certainly, for the bold, satirical comedy, premiering at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 1, which explores Americans' fears and cultural ignorance of Muslims. Port, who's Jewish, and Guarascio, who was raised Catholic, were at the Islamic Center this night to introduce their new series to the faithful.
Though not unique – the popular Canadian series "Little Mosque on the Prairie" also deals with anti-Muslim attitudes – it's rare these days for an American sitcom to tackle such sensitive social and political issues.
At first, "Aliens in America" seems more akin to NBC's short-lived 1999 series "Freaks and Geeks" with its story of Justin Tolchuck (Dan Byrd), a nerdy Wisconsin high school student who just doesn't seem to fit in.
Then the twist: His overly involved mother, Franny (Amy Pietz), agrees to take in a foreign exchange student, hoping it will help Justin become as popular as his sister Claire (Lindsey Shaw). Only the student who arrives is Raja Musharaff (Adhir Kalyan), a Muslim from Pakistan.
Raja is polite, idealistic and hardworking, much to the pleasure of Justin's father, Gary (Scott Patterson). But everyone else in town sees Raja as a potential terrorist.
In one scene from the pilot, Raja sits wearily in class listening to a student confess that she is angry with him because "his people" blew up the twin towers. The teacher then asks if others in the class are angry with Raja and all raise their hands.
The response from the Islamic Center crowd was overwhelmingly positive, just as it has been with TV critics. Although a small minority of columnists complained that the pilot suggests Americans are "bigoted and stupid."
Yes. There is no reason for the teacher or the class to be angry with Raja, and this is a deft and vicious caricature of those who call upon Muslims to repudiate and work against the global jihad movement.

I am sure the libs , leftists, and various other stupid people will lap this up. While all the muslims in america will howl with laughter in private, as to how easy it is to fool americans.

Yeah, because no one who was American, with all that entails in terms of an understanding of the best way to organize society's institutions, could possibly dislike Islam, with all it entails in terms of social organization.
So, the people who push Islam on us are obviously not insane in the sense that they are completely disfunctional. Some even rise to the level of Senior Muckey-Muck in organization ABC. So, what is the word for them, because they obviously aren't completely sane, either.
This is a perfect example, with these guys claiming to "explore cultural ignorance" while absolutely wallowing in it to the same extent as in the saying about the fish not noticing the water.
I went to a party a few months ago and got into a discussion with someone who claimed the typical line about Muslims being just like everyone else. When pressed, his factual knowledge about Islamic teaching amounted to the knowledge that there is such a thing, but he knew no actual teachings of Islam. Yet, he vociferously defended them based on nothing other than some half-thought-out worldview that didn't allow for any culture to actually be different in its tenets from 21st century American multiculturalist dogma.
I personally blame it on historical ignorance. Anyone who's studied history knows that there are a myriad number of ways to think about the world and that those worldviews do not always make for harmonious relations. In fact, harmonious relations are the exception, not the norm.
Keep pushing and pushing and pushing people. You are in for such a big surprise. ; )

This seems to me to be a extension of what I call the SWG themes of so many commercials and programs.
By SWG, I mean "Stupid White Guys" who seem to butt of so much of today's airtime.
I see this as a kind of subliminal propagandizing that is a adjunct to the overall "feminization" program that has evolve since the sixties.
As I read the trend, the only hope for SWG, other than instant death, is to be loved by an AKW and an SVM. That would be an "Ass Kicking Woman" and a "Superior Validating Minority."
Making a sitcom of 'kufrs' is good for a laugh, but try making the same of those ever so (in)sensitive Moslems, and see what happens. ... And watch your neck, don't give your home address, and better get police protection as well. Their evil prophet told them never to laugh, especially at themselves. Odious little vicious 'orcs' can only laugh at real humans.
I'm sure we'll have another sitcom coming soon which will show devout Christians as insightful, compassionate, wise, three-dimensional and good citizens overall who are unfairly judged by non-Christians who are bigoted, intolerant and oafs of the first degree. Yeah, any day now.
To be fair, somebody shoudld make a comedy showing how bigoted an stupid many Muslims are to non-Muslims. Hopefully, if young Muslims living in this country see this, they will be kinder to non-Muslims if their minds have not yet been poisoned by intolerant beliefs.

It will be interesting to see who the advertisers for the show are and how this show does in the long run. Especially after the next terrorist attack on American soil, in whatever form it takes.

There is no way that the Canadian version is popular as they say it is. Little Mosque is so lame that even our Muslims have to be embarrassed. CBC was plugging this as a "hit series" from the get go. I am positive the numbers are inflated to help their agenda.

Howsabout a show starring Rage Boy? It could follow him as he galavants around the umma participating in two riots and a demonstration all in one day. As he goes through airport security the camera could show funny things like a woman in a burka wanding a nun. You know.
His “tag line” that he would use once per show whenever something predictably stupid is done by some westerner could be, “Death to Infidels!!!” And the laugh track would kick in. I hope it gets greenlighted. It could have legs.
