Peshawar, Sept 2 (ANI): Unidentified people, believed to be pro-Taliban militants have distributed pamphlets threatening public transporters in Swat district of NWFP from playing music and displaying obscene pictures in their vehicles, failing which their vehicles would be blown up.
The threatening pamphlets were delivered at the Matta Bus Stand in Swat and said: "Stop playing music and remove obscene photos from your vehicles or face bomb attacks."
Earlier, on Wednesday, unidentified militants blew up six music shops in Ishaq Market and partially damaged 20 nearby shops and three houses after issuing warnings to shop owners in the area to stop their "un-Islamic" business.
Non-government organisations (NGOs) have already shut their offices in the region after receiving threatening letters, while representatives of pharmaceutical companies have stopped wearing trousers in the Swat Valley after the militants warned them to wear local dresses.
Barbers have also displayed big posters in front of their shops stating, "Un-Islamic activities like shaving and western hair fashion are forbidden."
Unidentified militants had earlier warned the barbers to stop shaving customers failing which their shops would be bombed.
This is not the first time that militants have warned men in the agency areas and the bordering regions of the NWFP not to shave beards.
Soon after the local Taliban established their offices in North and South Waziristan, they enforced a strict Islamic code, making it compulsory for the men to sport beards.
In Bajaur tribal agency, the militants levied a fine of Rs 5000 on barbers found providing shaving services to customers.
Militants have also put a ban on all sorts of entertainment, including the sale of music and films, and replaced the traditional jirga in most parts of the agency areas with Islamic courts.
Other diktats warning government officials from collecting tax, male doctors from carrying on ultrasound tests on female patients, and NGOs from carrying out social work in the agency areas have also been issued.
According to a Daily Times report, militants have also distributed letters in Khawaza Khela Bazaar in Swat warning women not to shop in the market, as it is against Pashtun and Islamic norms.
The letter said that the bazaar was located near a shrine and business activity by men and women would amount to its desecration. They warned that the bazaar would be bombed if women were not stopped from coming there.
If the Pakis continue to fail to contain the Taliban in their borders, they don't want to. This is almost willful neglect.

I must admit that of all the Islamaniac groups I find the Taliban the most fascinating. Aside from the threat of murder I cannot understand the appeal of this most primitive group of cultists who are against anything that makes life even remotely interesting.
Tamil Tigers (the LTTE) is a militant organisation fighting for better rights for the Tamils of Sri Lanka, who have been systematically neglected by the Sinhalese Govt. for decades. In fact, the apathy and chauvinism of the Sinhalese Govt against the Tamils gave rise to militant movements like the LTTE - but only after all peaceful means to a solution failed. The Tamil Tigers in any case do not have rabid anti-everything attitude which the Islamists have. The Tamil Tigers have a specific goal - that of standing up for the very legal rights of the Tamils for which they have the support of the Sri Lankan Tamil Christian clergy as well. The Tamil Tigers do not have any religious agenda at all.
As for the Nepalese Maoists, they are the last of the violent Communists left. They are atheists and have no religious leanings. They too do not have the Islamic anti-everything attitude. Their agenda is that of liberation of peasants - the Bolshevik / Mao style which is again from the discredited ideology of Communism.
AS for the Islamists, they are the haters of everything, anything and all. Their agenda is to make the world wail five times a day, fast a month, treat women as child machines, have a ball with anybody including six year old girls, have entertainment through beheadings, stonings, and so on ..........

Simple in the Talibans’ mind, they are the local government, wherever they are. All other governments are considered to be a less “Pure” Islamic and must fall before them. Hence if there were a Worldwide Caliphate the slaughter would never end as one sect would claim all the others un-Islamic.
Simple fact, the Pakistan INS convinced it’s government to concede vast tracts of it’s sovereign territory in the Warazsatan province. They did this in order protect the Taliban which is their investment in the long term domination of Afghanistan.
They’ve been wanting to dominate Afghanistan and Bangladesh as hedges in their political maneuverings against India and China. And behind all of this Saudi Wahabbi Oil Sheiks making strategic long term low key Jihad moves against their caliphate rival Iran, and to topple the current world powers of China, Russia, the E.U. and the U.S.
Every terrorist group has a specific goal. It just so happens that the Taliban and other Islamist groups' goal, unlike that of the other groups named, is world domination and the elimination of all beliefs and customs they do not agree with. It's a matter of degree and Islam is going to the nth degree.
It's not very nice, but my only hope would be that if they ever do attack that bazaar, they end up "desecrating" their own nearby shrine. I can only hope that pro-Taliban "business activity" ends up destroying itself before it destroys the countries in the area.
I think a movie sequel to "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" should be scripted into a sarcastic piece about Jihadists using these modes of transportation to spread their hate mongering murdercult ways.

During the British Raj, the frontier provinces remained semi-autonomous as far as local government was concerned. British law typically applied only on the roads and in the major towns. Pakistan has largely refrained from attempting to establish control of these areas as well. Will the Taliban be successful in governing what has been considered virtually un-governable?

I very much doubt that you'll find many Pakistani truck drivers cruising along listening to Mozart, Bethooven, or any of the other great classical composers of the West, but, if such a fellow exist, the thought that he would be murdered for doing so, says much about the darkness that governs the Muslim mind and soul.
Anything that uplifts the human spirit, that is graceful, beautiful or majestic must be crushed out of the spirit of a man before he can be counted as a good Muslim.

I said the same thing about the Taliban after 9/11, somewhat smugly and confidently, that "nobody could actually WANT these f&#ks!" But what I figured out is that is the least of their concerns. They are a gang. The failing and insecurity of their ideology pushes them further to violence as a way of implementing it. This is a tricky enemy: utterly ignorant and morally bankrupt; yet tricky and full of guile in a cowardly sort of way. I am no big bible thumper, but it makes me wonder whether this really is The Beast.
The metaphor of Islam=Cancer has been made many times before, but recently I had a new insight on this. Just like cancer, Islam needs a host, for it cannot survive on its own. It is too stupid to actually create anything new, because it gave everything up to Allah's hands centuries ago, and of course Allah does not exist. So it sends its minions to prosperous countries, which are stupid enough to let them in en masse and put them right on the dole. Now we spend trillions a year globally trying to discover where their worst cockroaches are hiding out and what they plan to bomb next.
