Politicians on online hit list

No mention here of who made the list or who is on it, but since it is coupled with the threats to Austria and Germany, it seems clearly jihad related. "List of politicians as possible attack targets surfaces in Austria," from AP (thanks to Joel):

Austrian authorities have found a list of politicians circulated online as potential targets for attacks, an Interior Ministry spokesman said Friday. But, while they notified the people on the list, they said there were no indications any of them were ever in danger.

Authorities found the list during an investigation of a video posted online in March threatening Austria and Germany with attacks if they did not withdraw military personnel from Afghanistan, said Rudolf Gollia, the Interior Ministry spokesman.

They use fear, not debate, as a weapon to silence critics. In the meantime, demographics kicks in and the threat becomes bigger, until it is no longer a threat, but a reality.

Takes a politician with courage to stick their head above the parapet.

Re: "Three Arrested in Frankfurt Bomb Plot"

I found it odd that the US media would refer to Frankfurt Airport as a US target. I know that US military bases were targeted as well but Frankfurt is Germany's largest *civilian* airport. Isn't Frankfurt the financial hub of Germany (like NYC in the US)?

German security forces have prevented "massive bomb attacks" against US and other targets in the country by arresting three Islamist terrorist suspects and seizing hundreds of kilos of chemicals, Federal Prosecutor-General Monika Harms said Wednesday.

The suspects, all men, were seized on Tuesday, exactly a week before the sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.

The arrests follow an April 20 warning issued by the US embassy in Berlin that it was stepping up security at diplomatic posts and military installations.

The embassy also urged Americans in Germany to take steps to protect themselves, and US officials subsequently said a major probe into a possible terrorist attack was underway.
