Yes, yes, he knows all about the "greater jihad" and the "lesser jihad" -- read the whole interview, "One on One with Steven Emerson: 'Jihad is jihad,'" by Ruthie Blum in the Jerusalem Post (thanks to all who sent this in):
Has Bush, perhaps, relinquished his earlier convictions - those that dominated his speeches in the immediate aftermath of 9/11?He goes back and forth, one minute denouncing "Islamofascism," another saying that peaceful jihad has been hijacked by the those who "pervert" Islam. What crockery! Jihad is jihad.
Read it all.
Thank you for the link to this excellent article.
From the article:
"The dirty secret of 9/11 is that there was logistical support from members of the Muslim community in the United States..."
"...As for the distinctions between anti-Semitism and 'Islamophobia,' there are several: According to the Justice Department's annual bias reports, there are at least 10 times more hate crimes committed against Jews than against Muslims. But the news coverage reflects the opposite percentage.
"Secondly, Muslim groups in the West routinely fabricate or exaggerate 'hate crimes' against Muslims; they even categorize the arrests of Islamic terrorists as hate crimes. Finally, the entire concept of 'Islamophobia' was invented by radical Islamic groups in Britain in the 1990s as a means of discrediting legitimate fears of radical Islam..."
"...Unfortunately, however, before that happens, Muslim nations like Iran will acquire weapons of mass destruction. They will acquire nuclear bombs, and when Ahmadinejad says Israel should be wiped off the face of the Earth, he really means it. And if he had the weapons to carry that out, he'd use them..."
"...The ultimate question is whether any president has the guts to do what is necessary. And what is necessary is military action to take out the Iranian nuclear facilities. This doesn't mean the massive carpet bombing of urban centers. It means the pinpointing and elimination of underground facilities, with the purpose of retarding the nuclear program. It's an issue of buying time. But then, Israel's whole existence has been one of buying time..."
"Jihad is Jihad"
Gertrude Stein couldn't have said it better.
Bush needs to fire the CIA and hop on this site, read a few Robert Spencer books and get himself straightened out. Islam is Islam.
Well, yes---How profound. Jihad is Jihad.
Would that all could come to this 'revelation'.
If is looks, acts, walks, talks, quacks like a Jihadist, it are one!
(PLEASE POST THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AT OTHER WEBSITES)
The U.S. Senate Project (an initiative to increase congressional awareness of the nature and goals of jihad) currently has 91 volunteers in 41 states.
WE ARE STILL SEEKING ADDITIONAL CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FROM ALL 50 STATES, ESPECIALLY THE FOLLOWING 10:
Connecticut
Delaware
Mississippi
Montana
North Dakota
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Vermont
West Virginia
Wyoming
THE PROJECT: We're looking for people in every state of the Union who would be willing to purchase, from Amazon or any other source, a copy of Robert Spencer's new book Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is And Islam Isn't and mail it, on an agreed upon date, to one of the senators in your state. We want to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message. If we get more than two people per state, books can also be sent to the U.S. House of Representatives.
If you'd like to participate (or you just have questions), please write to me at traehnam@yahoo.com under the subject heading "Senate," and tell me the state your senator represents, and a nickname. No need for your real name. And I will never share your email address with anyone, not even with other volunteers for this project.
And visit jihadawareness.blogspot.com to get more info on this project and to leave comments other volunteers can read. You can also see there the growing list of participants in this project, and the states their senators represent. I've also designed a graphic that might amuse. Scroll down when you get to the site.
Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.
Right before each of us mails the book, we’ll issue a press release to media outlets in as many states as possible, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.
One of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the Anti-Jihad Caucus in Congress. When we reach the goal of having all 100 senators covered, I'll call Rep. Myrick's office and see if she can help. I've called several congressional offices to get advice on how best to proceed.
Islam is Islam.
If only I had found this site a couple of years ago I would have known more about what I've been dealing with here.
I read Emersons book in 2005 and was just about to finish a year here in Iraq. After reading it I realized the perception I had of Islam was so absolutely wrong.
Im part of a group of advisors working with the Iraqi Police and the one consistent thing everyone I have worked with comes up with is that they are consumate liars of the type we only saw in sociopaths at home. When it benefits them ti lie they have absolutely no problem doing so.
Everything I'm seeing in the anaylisis of Spencer, Emerson on Islam and such is so dead on is actually encouraging. I say encouraging in that maybe someday someone will be in the White House and have the cajones to say what is true. And that there's an evil among us and we'd better start dealing with it rather than ignoring it.
"Im part of a group of advisors working with the Iraqi Police and the one consistent thing everyone I have worked with comes up with is that they are consumate liars of the type we only saw in sociopaths at home. When it benefits them ti lie they have absolutely no problem doing so."
That statement doesn't surprise me one iota.
Welcome to JW, FiveOAdviser.
Columbia is hosting Adolf Ahmedinejad, but has decided not to invite Jim Gilchrist of the Minuteman Project.
I guess calling for Israel's destruction, Holocaust denial, and killing our troops is better than stopping illegal immigration.
Has Bush, perhaps, relinquished his earlier convictions - those that dominated his speeches in the immediate aftermath of 9/11?
The difference between Bush and Clinton is that Bush believes his own lies. He’s had a term and a half to spread democracy and embrace families. He’s on the record. And now things are starting to fall apart.
The human impulse is to avoid unpleasant realities. So when faced with an unsustainable budget situation, a seventh-year recession or worse that can’t be blamed on others, and the disintegration of the Iraq plan, its makes sense that Bush would back away from his convictions. He probably reads the Book of Job nightly, avoiding Isaiah and Zechariah.
But it is his job to face unpleasant realities squarely and allow us Citizens to live our lives in peace. That’s what we pay the government to do. He is not doing his job.
Instead, we’re on our own. While our leadership tries to feel good about themselves and makes inside deals. Watch for taxes on ammunition.
FiveOAdviser -- Your post is very interesting. I'd love to hear more as appropriate.
Josephine beat me to a very interesting quote of Steve Emerson:
Given the "authorities"' constant papering-over of jihadist attacks, I would not be surprised if there was documented evidence of logistical support by members of the Muslim community in the U.S. for the 9/11 attacks, and that that information was deliberately withheld for whatever reason. If the FBI agents who talked to Steve Emerson care one iota about the safety and integrity of their country, they will come forward with that information. Names. Dates. Amounts. Then the country can begin taking the first steps towards dealing with the reality of our situation, and end our current strategy of closing our eyes and wishing really really hard.
"What crockery..."
-- from Robert Spencer's comment above
I like that.
Given the "authorities"' constant papering-over of jihadist attacks, I would not be surprised if there was documented evidence of logistical support by members of the Muslim community in the U.S. for the 9/11 attacks, and that that information was deliberately withheld for whatever reason.
"special_guest"
So what is the root cause of the cover-up? Saudis have Bush by the root hairs? In the case of the left I understand...
Emerson's answers need to be printed out, xeroxed, distributed to friends, acquiantances, everyone you can buttonhole or strike up a conversation with at the dry cleaners or the checkout-counter line. Go ahead. Be a pest. Spread the word. Be a one-man Committee of Correspondence. It has worked before.
Truly an excellent article. In my view, this article takes the most effective approach with respect to Islam. Clearly identify that Islam is violent in its teachings and text, but still use the phrase "radical Islam" so that people will keep their ears and minds open.
Unfortunately, I wish I could have as much confidence as Emerson does regarding the FBI agents "in the field." Here in southeastern Michigan, Debbie Slussel has written at length about the local DOJ and FBI "leadership." Hopefully other parts of the country are better served.
I'm beginning to see signs that Americans are waking up. Absolute strangers to me are making comments about ISLAM and Islam related subjects more and more. I believe that some of the fundamentalist churches are starting a series of speakers on Wednesday nights. This spices up their usual lackluster Wednesday evenings.
Americans are really tired of seeing the victim card being used. They know they are being used and I'm really thinking the '08 elections will be an eye opener.
Nothing better than a Straight Shooter.
It seems my previous comment did not get posted.
Thankyou for the link to that interview, Mr. Spencer.
Sometimes, I think that, maybe, there may be hope, after all.

FiveOadviser:
Thank you for your service, your efforts and those of your fellow soldiers is greatly appreciated...
Why is it that so many muslims 'misunderstand' Islam, and so many infidels like Emerson and Spenser understand it all to well? Do you have to be an infidel to understand Islam? Maybe it's a fact that understanding Islam can only be done by viewing it from the outside in. Trying to understand it from the inside, only produces distortions. Attempting to understand Islam from the inside is a failed process that has been failing for 1400 years. It has only produced Abdallahs that have a distorted world view.
I don't think reform can come from the inside, but it might come from without. We already have some of that in place, Faithfreedom.org for instance, and straight speaking x muslims like Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Wafa Sultan, Ali Sina, Ibn Warraq ,Walid Shoeblat, and The Spenser School of Islamic Jurisprudence, for repentant jihadis only. Otherwise known as JW/DW. I think reform, if it comes at all, will be an 'outside' job. Those on the inside simply can't do it...
I appreciate Mr. Emerson’s effort I am not heartened. Look at the country, split down the middle. Many Bush supporters are very unhappy and can’t wait to see him go but still care about the country. Look at the other side, the frontrunner, Hill and bill. These are people who spent their time in the white house with the pres chasing interns. Interns he had a certain responsibility for and what did he do with that power? Also, do you think the rise of China happened in a vacuum, how did they end up with all our stuff? How about this illegal problem and the deterioration of our infrastructure? His cabinet members stuff documents in their pants before they leave the national archives for cryin out loud. I could go on all day. These are the ones that almost half the country would have running the guvment? Jihad seems to me to be the quick way to go.
I am to the point where I am starting to think that if we have that many people of zero moral/ethical/honorable character then perhaps the country doesn’t deserve to go on. If we as a people and a nation allow this to continue we are indeed sick. What has the country become when you can cheat on your wife with young women who you are in a kind of boss employee relationship with as well as being a sort of father/president/leader figure and you can be put forth as a potential white house occupier again? And they are not the only ones, look at many of them, they are beyond criminals. Criminals are usually criminals, they don’t pretend to be anything else but not these they sit on committees and make laws and important decisions, decisions that impact us all. Corruption, greed, absence of ethics, perverse morality these are everywhere. There is no difference between these two parties, they are different cheeks of the same rotten arse only one has more pimples on it than the other. We might be better off if the islamists did slap some jihad on their butts and they would deserve it for being so ignorant or catastrophically bad for the country and all her loyal citizens.
Don’t get me wrong, this is not what I desire. But if we don’t take control and elect people with some honor, ethics, patriotism and morality we don’t deserve what we have anyway.
Emerson appears quite a bit in 3-5 minute segments on the cable news shows. He is never given sufficient time to explain himself, or is over- shouted by the likes of Alan Colmes or Michael Schuerer. It was nice to be able to read an entire uninterrupted interview with pointed, intelligent questions.
Five0advisor welcome and keep posting!
"What crockery!"
I like that turn of phrase too, Hugh, but it was Steve Emerson (not Robert) who turned it.
Regards,
HAID
Let's face it, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, David Horowitz, etc., are George W. Bush apologists.
Bush is with our enemies. Robert Spencer, as fine a man as he is, will not expose these Republican party apologists.
Will Robert Spencer take on David Horowitz for all his Bush apologetics?
solomonpal asked
Why isn't there better coverage of the jihad, outside of JW/DW? There is no clear answer to this question. Unlike the question of what motivates the jihadists, which Robert can answer with direct quotes from the Qur'an and ahadith, there is no single source that can be referenced to explain our culture's lack of response to jihad. I'm sure pure corruption plays a part; trillions of petrodollars are pretty tempting to some who think it's all about finding a pot of gold. But here's some starting points:
- A feeling of residual guilt by former colonizers over the past treatment of the colonized. Think Fanon's "The Wretched of the Earth". Think Kipyards's "The White Man's Burden". White men are evil. Non-white-men are virtuous.
- A glorification of the weak of the world; an assumption that their weakness is caused by oppression by the strong, rather than due to their own beliefs and actions. Weakness and failure are morally superior to strength and success. Think Nietzche's "Thus Spake Zarathustra" or "On the Genealogy of Morality".
- The deconstruction of language and the unchecked growth of relative morality. Derrida argued that all words are essentially meaningless and devoid of value. "Good" and "evil" have no inherent meaning, they are interchangeable with "googoo" and "gaga". Which leads to Derrida's defense of Naziism and other good things.
- An assumption that we are all the same, that our values (equality, forgiveness, tolerance, etc.) are universal values. A belief that all people are inherently good, and we need to forgive those who transgress against us, and reach out to help them to get in touch with their inner goodness. Think the New Testament.
You would have to have the knowledge of history, literature, sociology, and philosophy equivalent to say, a Hugh Fitzgerald, to answer the question of why a society of millions of people behaves as it does, particularly when it behaves in a self-destructive fashion.
I dunno.
You know, pez, I'm facing "unpleasant realities." And so is everyone else here on JW and DW.
And you say our President isn't? My God. WE should be "President."
"Let's face it, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, David Horowitz, etc., are George W. Bush apologists.
...
Will Robert Spencer take on David Horowitz for all his Bush apologetics?"
No, Robert Spencer and all JW/DW fans are going to thank David Horowitz for his center's sponsorship of JW/DW - look in the upper left corner of the JW homepage.
David Horowitz is loathed by the college professors - my colleagues - for exposing their seditious, treasonous agenda in books like Unholy Alliance (the communists and jihadists), Indoctrination U, and The Professors - as well as three of Robert Spencer's books, and various anti-jihad videos.
Some of you out there are suffering from Bush Derangement Syndrome. I am as angry as anyone else on this site about various specific policies of the Bush administration that endanger us. That doesn't mean that when the President says X, I will automatically disagree. Get a grip - and get used to gratitude to your benefactor, Mr. Horowitz, who has taken more slings and arrows than the rest of you because of his unflagging public defense of Western civilization.
special_guest is one of the few people who are looking deeper, past the headlines, even beyond the jihad issue, to wonder what is wrong with our society. I like his/her analysis of possible causes. I am writing about "The Psychological Crisis of Civilization" and have been writing about the problems of individuals who are in influential positions (not just politicians, but academics and the media) - problems like "grandiose illusion", "cognitive distortion" and "polymorphous perversity". special_guest's comments make me think that there may be a structural problem, a la Spengler - that is, maybe a civilization just gets intellectually tired, not to mention spoiled, when it has conquered its immediate surroundings and provided superabundantly for the needs of its people. The Islamification of Europe, or a WMD attack upon America, may be the only things that stir us from our torpor. God grant that we have not killed virtue in the common man when the crisis comes.
Surak:
Your defense of Mr. Horowitz was well said. We do need to keep our eyes on the ball, and people in perspective.
It would seem that 40% of our country wants a US representative to run to Tehran and beg for peace. Columbia University is inviting a dictator to speak who is actively killing Americans. In this context, Limbaugh and Hannity are helpful to the overall cause of civilization.
We need to keep a realistic sense of where most people are at in their thinking.
Amen to that...especially considering who's calling whom "apologists", especially those for the other side and their apologisms toward far worse.
Surak:
Although your previous comment seems to focus on purely internal causes for Western weakness, you may find the following links to be of interest. I am not suggesting that the cause is purely external, but I do think the cultural weaknesses you have in mind were acted upon by outside forces in a meaningful way. If nothing else, its an extra variable to consider.

Hi JSobeski,
It looks like the Dhimmi Youtube has removed the videos that you provided links to. Do you by any chance have copies of the original? I agree with you and Surak that the biggest threat we face is not directly from the jehadists but from a demoralized US population that continues to waste its energy in attacking each other for our perceived shortcomings or mistakes rather than marshall our efforts against our jehadist enemies.
Emerson is truly a national security asset. His principle means of gathering intelligence is to recruit Muslim apostates and Christian Arabs and have them infiltrate mosques and secretly record audio of the hateful rantings going on.
May he live long and prosper.
Emerson rightly points to the economic internal contradictions that unraveled the Soviet communist system (which defied human nature). But Islam also has a glaring internal contradiction with regard to human nature (its mandates to deception) which will unravel it. They cannot even trust each other in their culture-society. Hence, in a Muslim society, people can never really delegate authority. (By contrast, for example, a society such as Israel is built on certain assumptions of trust that allow delegation of authority and flexibility in dissent, sincere differences of interpretation of common good, etc.) Islam produces a rigid system because of the deception.
Human beings cannot love that which they cannot trust. They will run to any alternative once it is available in a place with a climate of mistrust and deception. It is for that reason that Islam dare not allow alternative belief-systems to be treated with any equality in any Muslim dominated society. Once that happens, the flight to safety will be breathtaking-even in a place such as Saudi Arabia.
Human beings are not perfect and there is always a "touch of clash" in political and personal matters even among people who trust each other. Belief systems other than Islam (Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, etc.) have mandates to the universal practice of the "Golden Rule". Islam promotes the "golden fool".
The Golden Rule is the foundation of a flexible and human society among imperfect and sinful humans. Islam's mandates to deception are inhuman and can only lead to violence in one form or other. Deception is Islam's internal contradiction.
FoeHammer, Josephine, Duh_Swami; thanks for the welcomes. I've been coming here for awhile to read posts, catch up, and read through Qur'an 101 and the Blog etc.
Duh_Swami; Your question on whether or not you have to be an infidel to understand the Qur'an brings me to a couple different conclusions. Having worked and lived among them for this long I tend to lean towards moslems understanding, but as with Christians and other religions you have the range from extremely devout all the way down to "yeah ok I'll go to church this Sunday football is over". But there is an obvious difference. You don't see hundreds of extreme right wing conservative Baptist strapping on a vest, with C4 interlaced with ball bearings, and getting into line at Wal-Mart and shooting off to see Jesus.
And the other and I really do hope I am wrong on this is that they all have an in-depth understanding and practice deception with infidels as a matter of their daily life. That one bothers me to no end because while I am ending my tour here soon, I leave behind the soldiers, and other officers I work with whose security will be at risk still.
Another conclusion I'm working on putting to paper is the similarities and differences between Islamic Militias (Mahdi Militia, Bahder Militia etc) and US inner city street gangs. The root necessity and causes to join are parallel is some areas.
The revelations that have emerged in the trial - probably the most striking findings since those that came out in the 1949 Alger Hiss trials - are that the Muslim Brotherhood had secretly set up shop in the US under the cover of "charitable" organizations, with the specific purpose of waging jihad from within and subverting the United States until it became a Muslim country. Yet, neither The New York Times nor The Washington Post published these findings.
And to a lot of lefties, if they don't print it then it didn't happen.
During WWII Movietone news made sure all people in the west knew what was happening. The gruesome was included in the propoganda clips to make sure people knew that it was real. Now the news is written from a What About Their Feelings perspective.
I don't believe that most western people see islam as a threat. Just as a religion hijacked, like the news media keeps repeating. Until that changes, islam will continue taking over and pushin for sharia. Overthrowing governments.
Welcome 5-0Adviser.
Razdan:
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the links are no longer working. I don't have copies, but will take some time to look elsewhere on the net for these hair raising videos.
Yes our friends at youtube, always ready to assist in the destruction of the west. I hope you all realize that we are past the point that we have full blown enemy infiltration in all our affairs. They are a threat to us all our very survival is at stake. Youtube and some others are on the other side so in my opinion they are all legitimate military targets. Careful citizens, they only want you dead so don’t overreact.

Sorry wrong number,
http://againstred.blogspot.com/2007/06/transcription-of-video-interview-with.html
Listen to this man and look at Columbia. That proves this mans point, in spades.
But since 1984 there have been events that have changed the country in ways this man could never imagine. In 84 Reagan’s policies had not yet developed into what would eventually transform the country. The Gulf war would restore much pride among the citizens, who in 84 would have predicted our total dominance over soviet arms? The Berlin wall coming down, tragic events such as the Beirut bombing of the Marines. In 84 there was no Internet, heck few people even had a computer. Someone could write a book on the things that transformed us maybe even a couple of books. It has been a slow drip since 84 combined with occasional future shaping events that would never have been predicted in 84. One thing this man underestimates is the American ability to play catch up we have been doing it from our beginning we are used to it, maybe it is in our blood. Watch some old movies, we are basically not much different than we ever were. The same dopey people wanting just to have fun, work hard, raise our families and get along with our lives. So we just need to keep pushing, more people everyday see the light it is there under the surface waiting to be awakened. I like what John Paul Jones had to say, I have not yet begun to fight.
Thanks tgusa!
If memory serves, I first saw the Bezmenov videos from a comment you posted here several months ago. It made my "save and distribute list" (a relatively short Word document).
Also off topic, but for people interested in hearing Robert speak in person
http://www.americastruthforum.com/symposium.htm
I am a Michigan resident, and will be attending all three events. I would be honored to get together with any JW/DW readers and share in a few adult beverages.
Oopsy! Another covert anti-Semitic operation. I searched on "Bezmenov" to find out more about this guy. One website summarizes the videos by saying they explain the "Jewish Marxist" theory to destroy the West. Perfect for your next little neo-Nazi get-together.
I guess I need to see the videos in their entirety to know whether the anti-Semitism comes from Bezmenov or from the other website operator taking advantage of an opportunity to get in some anti-Semitic digs.
For the record, I am a Jew who loathes communism and its democide toll of 100 million. Also, last time I checked, the leadership of the Communist parties of China, Cuba, North Korea and Vietnam aren't Jewish.
What's up, tgusa? Is this some ugly hidden agenda - or an innocent mistake?
What do you think? Have you been around here more than just today? If so then you should know my position. For the record, many of the trees you see today in Israel were donated by my family and the people in my area of America many many decades ago. I was once a huge fan of the Olympics, until 1972, do I pass the test? I posted the video I didn’t screen the site. I have been around here a long time my position is well known. Calling me a racist, bigot, anti Semite, islamophobe, reverend, feminist whatever, those names have been employed against me before but those cards don’t work on me. Now if this was only a rush to suspicion on your part forget about it.
We are all on the same side here. Read Tgusa's comments over the past year and you will know that for a certainty.
Generally I have been attacked by what eventually turn out to be islamist posers, they come they go. Methinks Surak is a little sensitive, consider that some article referred to Christian Marxists, I, not being a Christian Marxist would not be offended. I probably wouldn’t give it a second thought. So I have to ask Surak, how do I know you are who you say you are? Maybe you are just angry at Marx?
Oh and you are welcome JSobieski.Yes we are all on the same side, except when we are not. As is said time tells.
