We want to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message. If we get more than two people per state, books can also be sent to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.

Right before each of us mails the book, we can issue a press release to various media outlets in every state, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.

Congress is in recess until after Labor Day. But one of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the Anti-Jihad Caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick to maximize its effectiveness. I've also been calling various congressional offices to get advice on how best to go about the project.

Six months after that historical meeting, i.e. in Muharram 1390H (March 1970), the First Islamic Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs held in Jeddah set up a permanent General Secretariat, to ensure a liaison among Member States and charged it to coordinate their action. The Conference appointed its Secretary General and chose Jeddah as the Headquarters of the Organization, pending the liberation of Jerusalem, which would be the permanent Headquarters.

Two and a half years after Rabat, in Muharram 1392H (February 1972), the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers, meeting in its Third Session, adopted the Charter of the Organization, whose purpose is to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among Islamic States in the political, economic, cultural, scientific and social fields.

Under the Charter, the Organization aims to:

1. Strengthen:

a) Islamic solidarity among Member States;

b) Cooperation in the political, economic, social, cultural and scientific fields:

c) The struggle of all Muslim people to safeguard their dignity, independence and national rights.

2. Coordinate action to:

a) Safeguard the Holy Places;

b) Support the struggle of the Palestinian people and assist them in recovering their rights and liberating their occupied territories.

3. Work to:

a) Eliminate racial discrimination and all forms of colonialism;

b) Create a favorable atmosphere for the promotion of cooperation and understanding between Member States and other countries.

The Charter also enumerates principles which OIC Member States undertake to inspire themselves from, in order to achieve the objectives of the Organization.

The Charter also enumerates the principles governing OIC activities, namely:

· Full equality among Member States

· Observation of the right to self determination and non-interference in the internal affairs of Member States

· Observation of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of each State

· The settlement of any dispute that might arise among Member States by peaceful means such as negotiations, mediation, conciliation and arbitration

· A pledge to refrain, in relations among Member States, from resorting to force or threatening to resort to the use of force against the unity and territorial integrity or the political independence of any one of them

In order to achieve its objectives, the Organization has main bodies, secondary organs, institutions and specialized committees.

The Islamic Conference is composed of the following main bodies:

· The Conference of Kings and Heads of State and Government, also known as the Islamic Summit Conference, is the supreme authority of the Organization which meets once every three years to lay down the Organization’s policy and elects Chairman of the Organization who holds office until next session. Malaysia is the current Chairman of the Islamic Summit Conference.

· The Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM), which meets once a year to examine progress on the implementation of its decisions taken within the framework of the policy defined by the Islamic Summit. Islamic Republic of Pakistan is the current Chairman of the ICFM.

· The General Secretariat, which is the executive organ of the Organization, entrusted with the implementation of the decisions of the two preceding bodies

So far ten Islamic Summit Conferences and thirty-four Islamic Conferences of Foreign Ministers (ICFM) have been held. The Tenth Islamic Summit elected Malaysia as the current Chairman of the Organization. Since assuming the Chairmanship of the Organisation, it has hosted and/or actively participated in various Meetings under the OIC umbrella and constantly contributed to the OIC. In particular, it has initiated the Capacity Building Programme for poverty alleviation in the least developed and low-income OIC Member States. The objective of this Programme is to assist in formulating appropriate projects to strengthen capacity building to enhance human resources development, institutional, organizational, management skills, including the development of infrastructures.

In order to coordinate and boost its action, align its view points and stands, and be credited with concrete results in the various fields of cooperation: political, economic, cultural, social, spiritual and scientific, among Member States, the Organization has created different committees, nearly all, at ministerial level, a number of which are chaired by Heads of State. The Al-Quds Committee, the Standing Committee for Information and Cultural Affairs (COMIAC), the Standing Committee for Economic and Trade Cooperation (COMCEC), the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technical Cooperation (COMSTECH) and the Islamic Peace Committee are the ones Chaired by Heads of State. Fourteen Committees which have been thus established, deal with other important issues such as Palestine, the Sahel, Afghanistan, Kashmir etc.

The number and types of secondary organs and institutions, working toward the achievement of the OIC objectives, have been steadily increasing, and cover various areas of cultural, scientific, economic, legal, financial, sports, technological, educational, media, as well as vocational, social and humanitarian. Depending on their degree of autonomy vis-a-vis the parent organization, they are classified as subsidiary and specialized organs, or affiliated institutions.

Last but not least, it is worth mentioning that by the 3rd year of the World Decade for Cultural Development launched by the United Nations in 1988 under the auspices of UNESCO - the Organization of the Islamic Conference had built Islamic Colleges, and Cultural Institutes and Centres to spread Islamic culture and dispense the Teaching of Arabic, the language of the Holy Qur’an, as well as other languages.

I am pretty sure that the Muslims in Sweden are a net drain on its welfare system. And none of Erricson or Volvo or Saab owes their success to them. Given this, the hubris of the Muslims who don't even have a running water or a working sewage system back in their crap villages is breathtaking. I hope they hit a brick wall soon.

It also seems that the Swiss are standing up. Since the majority of crimes are committed by immigrants in Switzerland, if a child of an immigrant commits a crime of violence, the whole family is to be deported. Also if an immigrant is convicted of welfare fraud it's bye bye black sheep.

Susanp -- a decent chance they won't capitulate, because this time around they surely had to know in advance what the cartoon would provoke. The fact that they had foreknowledge of the threats and anger that would result means they probably braced themselves in advance, and then published knowingly with a resolve not to turn back, but to sail on through the storm.

Perhaps it would be appropriate for all Western countries to offer courses on how to stand up against islam. I'll put my hand up to help this. Organisations could get guest speakers in and generate literature for all to read.

Also I expect that soon we'll hear the OIC and all its 57 member countries plus islamic organisations world wide to stand up and condemn the use of qur'ans for drug smuggling ! ! ?

There seemed to me to be a subtle hint that excessive protest could lead to the termination of Sweden's "reputation for taking in refugees and immigrants, the paper said. ...(being) the primary destination in Europe for asylum-seeking Iraqis".
If that is the case, it will be interesting to see how Muslims respond to the choice of remaining silent or having Sweden's borders tighten.

I think that this cartoon is an absolute outrage. How could this artist be so thoughtless as to draw the head of a terrorist on the body of mans best friend? Why aren't the animal rights organizations marching to demand an apology? This is demeaning to all dog lovers. Please do not show any of these cartoons to you dog it could cause him to have a fit and he might end up biting a muslim.

Personnally, I think they are of no artistic value, and not funny at all (which some of the original 12 were).

And personnally I think they are just as distasteful and offensive as the false Danish cartoons that Ahmad Abu Laban and Akhmad Akkari added to the original twelve.

As for Vilks, I am convinced his motives in this matter are just as honest/dishonest as Ahmad Abu Laban and Akhmad Akkari where.

If the artist is out to win more popularity for his own private jihad against Sweden,then I find him no better than the danish Imans Ahmad Abu Laban and Akhmad Akkari.

Lars Vilks has been a pain in the arse for for The Swedish authorities for nearly half a century.

Vilks said he made the drawings after being invited to contribute to an art exhibition in central Sweden on the theme of dogs.

"To begin with, the message was to make a critical contribution on the dog theme, but it took another direction," Vilks told AP in a phone interview. "Why can you not criticize Islam when you can criticize other religions?"

Vilks said he expected protests locally against his drawings but insisted he didn't mean to insult Muslims.

"My images are art. I don't have a xenophobic attitude. I'm not against Islam. Everyone knows that," he said.

So if he is not against islam, what is the purpose of these drawing other than to advance his crusade against Sweden.

Artist Lars Vilks has not confined his provocative cartoons to Islam however. Another drawing, featured on his website, features a giant hook-nosed pig looming over hillside houses.

Also the drawing where not censored. They where held back because the organizers where aware of the security risks.

On July 20, the day before the opening of the exhibition in Tällerud, the organizers decided to withdraw Vilks' drawings from the exhibition due to security concerns and fear of violence from Islamic extremists (see Islam and blasphemy and Islam and animals).

Märta Wennerström, the responsible organizer, said that at first she "didn't realize the gravity of the situation" and that she made the decision to remove the drawings after consulting Swedish government agencies and private persons.

Following the first refusal to publish the drawings, Vilks submitted his drawings to the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art (where Vilks is a frequent lecturer) in Bohuslän for a special teachers' exhibition that was going to be opened on August 18.

On August 13 however, the school announced that they as well had decided to reject the drawings due to security concerns.

This second rejection started an intense debate in Swedish media about self-censorship and freedom of expression.

The big question is would Lars wilk be prepared to exhibit his works of art on his own property ?
