UK official: rewrite British history to include Muslims

If they weren't there, make it up.

"British history 'needs rewrite,'" by Brian Wheeler for the BBC (thanks to Stephen):

British history should be rewritten to make it "more inclusive", says Trevor Phillips, the head of the new human rights and equality commission.

He said Muslims were also part of the national story and "sometimes we have to go back into the tapestry and insert some threads that were lost".

He quoted the example of the Spanish Armada, which was held up by the Turks at the request of Queen Elizabeth I.

"It was the Turks who saved us," Mr Phillips told a Labour fringe meeting.

For pete's sake. Is Mr. Phillips then also going to include the slave raids that the North African Muslims, clients of the Turks, carried out against British ships and seacoast towns for centuries?

...he wants to rewrite history to include Muslims

...Muslims rewrite history to exclude Non Muslims

....I think I see a connection....

Which bloody idiot gave this bloody idiot the job of head of the new commision??

In fact why do we need such a commission? I have no doubt whatsoever that this commission is for no other reason than to pander to Muslims and give them what they want and of course, blame us indigenous peoples for all their woes and call us Islamaphobes.

The blindness affecting the governments is total insanity - OPEN YOUR EYES GORDON BROWN lift your head up and look Islam in the eye - you will see what it is really about!!

Trevor needs to learn a few facts:

1. Sultan Mehmet III was engaged in two wars (one in Europe and his old rivals in Iran)and did not have the men to fight against Spain or help out Queen Elizabeth.

2. He did not want to get another alliance of Christian nations together against him like what happened at the battle of Lapanto, when his fathers fleet was wiped out. Leaving the Ottomans with just 30 ships to guard their empire.

3. Although Memet III, had rebuilt the navy somewhat his ships were out of date when compared to European vessels as used by Spain/Italy etc.

4. He did not want to endanger relations with nuteral nations in Europe.

To put it quiet bluntly the man is a F*****g idiot. We never have had Muslim internal influence in our history it was made by Christians. What influence there has been has always been external, ie, we were either killing them or they were killing us one or the other. The only time they were ever in England was as emissaries of the Turk. They are even claiming now in an exhibition which is traveling around Britain at the moment that they opened the first coffee shop in London. Which brought the coffee habit to London. It is true that London did have a thriving coffee shop culture in the 18th century but the chances are that it was brought in by some Portuguese trader. There was always a great trade with Portugal who have always been an ally, and where does the best coffee come from Brazil which was a Portuguese colony. The chances that it was brought in by one of these sons of hell, is virtually nil.

Like most of my countrymen I am getting fed up and ashamed at these blatant attempts to rewrite our past by a set of Baboons with a frontal lobotomy, who wouldn't know a history book if it jumped up and bit them in the arse. What next will I be hearing, that Stonehenge was build by Arab engineers because we were too privative at the time and that they had imported slave labor from Africa to do the job because the ancient Britains couldn't understand the poetic Arabic in the instruction booklet that came with the construction kit. The only influence I can think that the Arabs had on our culture was the naming of many pub “The Saracens Head” most likely due to some English Crusader bring one back as a souvenir and hanging it outside to attract trade. It is a pity it is not like that now, we had one mosque in Britain in 1926 and that was one too many. Idiots like this must think we are F*****g mad with all this bullshit and sensitivity training. If there is any training to be done it should be desensitivity training of these t**ts, and only then when it has been clinically established that they have a brain between their ears.

Excerpts from history book from 2070:

-Britain was saved from Hitler during WW2 thanks to the Mufti of Jerusalem.

-The Holocaust was when the Jews tried to exterminate the Muslims under the evil Zionist named Hitler.

-The atom bomb, the Internet, aircraft, space flight, etc were all invented by Muslims since Muslims invented science.

The scary part is by 2070 more people than not will actually believe such things to be the absolute truth.

What is this business, according to Trevor Phillips, of the Ottoman Turks supposedly delaying the arrival of the Spanish fleet in order to help the British? What is he talking about? Is he thinking of the Battle of Lepanto, in 1571, a battle won by the Venetians, with help from Spain and the Papacy, against the Ottoman Turks? Is he thinking of the Cyprus War of which Lepanto was one battle, a war won by the Ottomans? Is he suggesting that the English emissaries convinced the Ottomans to send their fleet to harry the Spanish, something they would be sure to do anyway, for reasons having nothing to do with England or the Armada or Francis Drake or for that matter the many pubs that bear the name "The Saracen's Head"?

Who is teaching Trevor Phillips? Who is helping him to rewrite the history of England?

He should be mocked out of office, out of public life, and preferably, out of the country. He needs to be sent down, rusticated, possibly back to glorious aphra-behnish Guyana, so he can have a quiet year or two reading and studying and learning things about which he knows very little or, possibly, nothing.

A poster above imagines a history text from 2070 in which Islam is given credit for everything in European history. But one need not wait that long. Tariq Ramadan has already been informing anyone who will listen that the Renaissance in Europe is "owed to the Muslims." That the Renaissance, which begins with the re-discovery and elevation of classical antiquity (its writers, its artists), that is of pre-Christian Europe, and puts man, Vitruvian man, at the center of its most glorious creations, emphasizing the freedom, the autonomy, of the individual and especially of the remarkable individuals who created and in turn were created by that "Renaissance" (a term now replaced, in History Departments, by the desiccated "Early Modern Period").

So the imagined celebration in 2021 of the Battle of Lepanto, that appeared here two years ago, is becoming less imaginary every day:

Fitzgerald: Celebrating Lepanto, 2021

The year: 2021. The occasion: the 450th anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto, where the Turkish fleet under Ali, the captain pasha, was defeated by the naval forces of Venice and of Spain (commanded by Don John of Austria, natural brother to the great Philip II, King of Spain). This victory helped repulse the constant efforts by the Muslim Turks to penetrate even further and seize even more Infidel lands in Eastern and Central and Southern Europe.

At the site of the engagement, the ships are all identical. Indeed, they all belong to the Eurabian fleet of a newly-expanded Eurabia, in which Turkey is the most populous member.

Of course, no one in his right mind would have wanted to label the ships with such words as "Turkish" or "European" (much less "Venetian"). "We are all Turks now," joked the French Foreign Minister, Ekmelledin Uzal, to his British counterpart, Manwar al-Oteiba. But of course, it would not do to label the sides "Turkey" and "Turkey."

Cornel West, Jr., son of the celebrated winner of two Nobel Prizes (one in literature and another for peace), was chosen to organize this event that holds so much significance for the world's peoples.

He was a natural choice. For, as president of the Eternal Peace and Dialogue-to-Death Foundation, which boasts 800,000 employees in 65 countries and is funded with the turned-over endowments of several self-extinguishing foundations, including the Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Endowment for Peace, the Soros Foundation, the Buffett Foundation, the Packard Foundation, the Walton Foundation, the Gates Foundation, the Olayan, Khashoggi, and Khaddafy Foundations, as well as the assets of three dozen slightly smaller foundations that had similarly disbanded, from all parts of the globe.

It was he, the brilliant son of an even more brilliant father, who finally hit upon the right way to label those ships that were to re-enact the Battle of Lepanto in a spirit not of celebrating a victory (what does "victory" mean, and what is "defeat," when we are all the children of the same god, and all of us indistinguishable one from the other, after all?).

At first, Cornel West, Jr., possibly remembering how the Battle of Trafalgar was re-enacted years ago, when his father was still a hard-working University Professor at Princeton and celebrated winner of the 2005 Lannan Prize for Services to Culture and Humanity, or Humanity and Culture, or something -- thought the two sides might indeed be labeled the "Blue Team" and the "Red Team," as had been done for the Trafalgar anniversary. But then it was pointed out that the painting would be costly, and besides, what with the ozone layer constantly thinning out into nothingness, more and more people seemed to be suffering from daltonism, which meant that millions of spectators watching the re-creation on television would have difficulty distinguishing one team from the other.

Then West had a brilliant idea. It was, like all brilliant ideas, so obvious -- and yet, no one had thought of it. It would make clear, utterly and transparently clear, what wars and bloodshed were really all about. They were about nothing at all. They had nothing to do with any discrete quarrels, any venomous ideologies, any attempts by one side or another to conquer one side, or another.

No, wars -- Man's Inhumanity to Man -- was all about The Other. Man, especially Western man, European man, or European man's mutated descendants in North America, who were consumed with the need to create, and then to mount a campaign against, The Other. It could be anything. It didn't matter. In the time of Lepanto, it was the terrible Turks, the malignant and the turbaned Turks, the Turks of "Mama li turchi" used to scare little Italian children.

And so it came to pass, that in 2021, in the re-created Battle of Lepanto, where Cervantes lost a hand (and later would lose his freedom to a renegade, a Christian-turned-Muslim slave-master named Venedikili Hasan Pasha, a future Beylerbey of Algiers), each side bore the exact same label -- a label that showed the futility of all warfare, of all distinctions, of all the silliness that Western man, especially, has inflicted on the otherwise naturally peaceful people in this naturally harmonious world (don't you find it getting just a little hot, and stuffy, and harder to breathe, in this wonderful still fossil-fuel-driven world of ours?).

And this is what the great son of the even greater father decided to do:

He labeled the ships of the Venetians, and the other European contributors to the fleet, "The Other." And then he labeled all the ships that represented the naval fleet of the Ottoman Turks with signs that read "The Other."

And that was that. The Battle of Lepanto. "The Other" vs. "The Other." For there is no "Other" now, in 2021. And in truth, there never really was "the Other" -- for "the Other" was simply a construct of the Western world, one which the peaceful non-Westerners made the terrible mistake of borrowing from them.

As Mustafa Schwartz-Weiss Kara-Akyol al-Padovi, the Italian Minister of Culture, noted, "yes, we are all Turks and Muslims now. We are all "The Other" now. Alhamdulillah, we are all friends, there will be no more war. There didn't have to be war in 1571. We could all have saved a lot of time, a lot of pain, if only the Venetians and the Spanish had understood then what everyone in Europe now understands."

Fruit drinks were sold. There was loukoum. There was iced Moroccan mint tea There were hubble-bubble pipes.

A splendid time was had by all.

Who the hell is Trever Phillips?

this is truly sick. sad thing is, most brits will be eating it all up and repeating it parrot fashion. sharia law is coming to the UK.

the general elections can be the last opportunity that we will ever have to turn the tide. vote in folk that care, or suffer a future civil war similar to the northern ireland war.

trevor philips needs to go back to Guyana and help his people there, not indulge in ethnic cleansing and marxist imperialistic meddling in the UK.

"One point of Britishness is that people can say what they like about the way we should live, however absurd, however unpopular it is." T, Philips.

please go home mr philips, you are not welcome, you are a dangerous fanatic.

Holger Dansker:

I've been to the Saracen's Head in Bath... :)

The British need to write to this Dhimmi and protest. Flood his office with phone calls and letters expressing outrage over his preposterous proposal.

As PJ O'Rourke said, the only memorable thing that came from the Ottoman Empire was a stool.

The British seem to have these craven Muslim appeasers in almost every influential position in the country—in the government, in education, in the church, in the monarchy, in the media, in the police--and even though they come out with these incredible statements and proposals, there are apparently no demonstrations in the streets, no angry denunciations, they just get their way.

What the Hell is wrong with Britain?

A simple excerpt of real history Mr. Phillips:

"Not content with attacking ships and sailors, the corsairs also sometimes raided coastal settlements, generally running their craft onto unguarded beaches, and creeping up on villages in the dark to snatch their victims and retreat before the alarm could be sounded. Almost all the inhabitants of the village of Baltimore, in Ireland, were taken in this way in 1631, and other attacks were launched against coastal villages in Devon and Cornwall."

"for the 250 years between 1530 and 1780, the figure could easily have been as high as 1,250,000 - this is only just over a tenth of the Africans taken as slaves to the Americas from 1500 to 1800, but a considerable figure nevertheless."

http://www.obrien.ie/files/extracts/stolenvillagechapter1.PDF

Even the BBC gets this part of history right.

What the Hell is wrong with Britain?

Hard to answer in a few sentences. At the moment we have three main Centrist political parties who have similar policies. There is no effective opposition, no real choice for voters and therefore no opportunity of reversing the headlong course into insanity that we are currently embarking on.

Quite how anyone can vote for any of these parties - New Labour, Conservatives (aka Blue Labour) and Liberal Democrats (aka Lib Dhimmis) - is completely beyond me. They represent more of what we've had for the last two to three decades. i.e. more dhimmitude, more multiculturalism, more political correctness and more appeasement of violent minorities.

The usual accusations (e.g. "fascists", "racists", "Nazis") get hurled at anyone who disagrees with current policy, rendering debate all but impossible.

We now have the spectre of all-black parliamentary candidate lists looming. That sure sounds racist to me.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/race/story/0,,2161264,00.html

Re-writing history has happened many times before. Always, the ones who re-wrote it KNEW that the history they are currently writing with their policies was rotten and indefensible. That is why they try to fit the past into a justification of their utter incompetence - like moving the whole sea under a leaky boat. And just as successful.

Democracy's worst nightmare is the inability to quickly remove from office dangerous politicians.

Catholic Grade school children always learned about the Battle of Lepanto, and until recently (my 20 yr olds) were able to recite a poem about it. It was a fixture, like the important dates: 1066, 1492, 1776. etc but now it will be remembered as something else (in Britain anyway).

G-d forbid history be written for the sake of, well history. Now Wheeler wants to re-write history in order to be inclusive? This type of PC is as icky as watching a man eat his own feces while calling it chocolate cake.

The Battle of Lepanto was won by the Christian forces (Venice, Spain, the Papacy). But the War of Cyprus was won by the Ottoman Turks.

History is silly putty to such imbeciles.

And they will still be beheaded.

But it won't be much of a loss.

JUST HOW LONG ARE MUSLIMS ALLOWED TO HAVE PEACE TREATIES FOR ??

I THINK THE 7 YEAR RULE HERE IS IN EFFECT

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7014515.stm

Eritrea rejects Ethiopia warning

Ethiopia has threatened to terminate the peace accord
Eritrea has angrily dismissed an accusation from its long-time foe Ethiopia that it is in material breach of the Algiers Agreement.
The treaty ended their brutal two-year war in 2000 and set up a commission that redrew the disputed border.

Eritrea's information minister told the BBC that the warning was "irrelevant".

If Ethiopia did pull out of the treaty, it might imply that it would no longer comply with the commission's ruling that Badme be awarded to Eritrea.

Ethiopia has failed to hand over the town of Badme which sparked the 1998 war, which killed some 80,000 people.

Click here to see a map of the border
"Eritrea has nothing to do on this issue and as far as Eritrea is concerned, everything that has been said is irrelevant," Eritrean Information Minister Ali Abdu told the BBC.

TENSE BORDER
Dec 2000: Peace agreement
Apr 2002: Border ruling
Mar 2003: Ethiopian complaint over Badme rejected
Sep 2003: Ethiopia asks for new ruling
Feb 2005: UN concern at military build-up
Oct 2005: Eritrea restricts peacekeepers' activities
Nov 2005: UN sanctions threat if no compliance with 2000 deal

Q&A: Horn's bitter war

"The Eritrea Ethiopia Boundary Commission is entitled and mandated to demarcate the border, but the Ethiopian regime is refusing to abide by the rule of law," he said.

The BBC's Peter Martell in the capital, Asmara, says Eritrea also denies backing terrorist groups targeting Ethiopia, claiming such accusations are a smokescreen for Ethiopia to divert attention from its failure to accept the border ruling.

Earlier this month, Eritrea said that it would pull back thousands of troops from the officially demilitarised border buffer zone; lift restrictions on United Nations peacekeepers and a ban on helicopter flights if Ethiopia agreed to enforce its end of the border ruling.

But Ethiopia says occupying the demilitarised zone and restricting the movement of the UN amounts to a material breach of the treaty.

Ethiopian foreign ministry sources stress that the letter, copied to the UN Security Council, is merely a formal notification, and the desired outcome would be for Eritrea to return to compliance so that no further action would follow.

Our correspondent says with the boundary commission due to close in November tensions are rising, adding to fears of a return to war.

Eritrea, which won its independence after a 30 year liberation struggle from Ethiopia, knows how bad war can be, and has said it will do everything in its power to avoid it, our reporter says.

But it has also stressed that it will not tolerate any infringement on its sovereignty or territorial integrity.

Have you heard the one about the Magna Carta, US COnstitution etc etc being inspired by the Koran? Oh yes, it was contact with Muslims during the Crusades that enlightened the Europeans as to how just governments rule only by the consent of the governed. Heard this one from some particularly angry Muslim on O'Reilly or Hannity or whatever. He's a quasi-regular when they need a seething Muslim to interview.

Yes, history should be re-written so that the British (and we Americans, too) can learn of the contributions of muslims, starting with the Barbary pirates, who extracted tribute from the British, enslaved Europeans (as johnb points out) and waged war on American shipping, even capturing American sailors. Come to think of it, wasn't Captain John Smith, before his stay in the new colony of Virginia, enslaved for a time in the Ottoman Empire?

Have you seen school curriculum and test scores in UK in last twenty years??

I doubt if half the students could tell you what years WWII was fought. Oh but you must dredge up some obscure sideline to the Spanish
Armada story and drum it into them.

Trevor Phillips’ notion that “the Turks saved us” from the Spanish Armada is flatly contradicted by the following passage in Lord Kinross’ “The Ottoman Centuries” (p. 327):

“It soon became clear that the Ottoman Empire, for all its surviving naval power, was now reluctant to engage in belligerent action, whether in the political interests of France or England. At a time when King Phillip in his
Atlantic ports was clearly building up a large Spanish armada for his invasion of England, the Porte remained politely but obstinately deaf to appeals from [English ambassador] Harborne for naval support, if only in the form of a diversionary Turkish attack on the Spanish Mediterranean coasts. He left Istanbul for England at the end of his mission, prudently avoiding the Straits of Gilbraltar to travel overland, shortly before the armada sailed. After it had done so, it was generally supposed at the Porte that England was lost, and the news of the Spanish defeat in 1588 was greeted with some incredulity.”

Mr. Philips is operating on the simple principle that if the facts/history doesn't quite match with his views on how the World should be; well, then all that is required is to simply change the facts/history! Come to think of it, the Beeb has been doing this all along anyway.

"Parsons was Winston's fellow employee at the Ministry of Truth. He was a fattish but active man of paralyzing stupidity, a mass of imbecile enthusiasms—one of those completely unquestioning, devoted drudges on whom, more even than on the thought police, the stability of the Party depended."
- George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 2

"If the Party could thrust its hand into the past and say this or that even, it never happened—that, surely, was more terrifying than mere torture and death."
- George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 3

"Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct; nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary."
- George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 3

Was he appointed to this position?

Is it part of the EU hierarchy?

What power does he have to enforce his recommendations?

Well this is a common theme amongst our modern history lessons. We re-write history daily, and it's been epidemic since after WWII, more precisely in the early 60's on.

This plague and attack on truth is testiment to the saying "the victors write history". That's true, and the socialists won! That's precisely why we have seen this type of thing happening everyday, socialists have taken over all of our educational institutions and we are reaping the reward.

I personally trust ancient historians far more than I do modern. As politics always existed, I feel there was more honour amongst those who took on the task of documenting the past as there is today. Far too many strange ideas have prung up in the last 100 years, compared to any other era in history. (Socialism, deconstructionism to name a couple.)

If you have the time please read these two links, they are very informative, especially after you read the second. The second one is an interview of Professor Victor Davis Hanson on the importance of studying history of war. The comments he makes are relevant to history in general.

Hugh, you won't have to wait till 2070 or 2021 for such nonsense. We've already had it in the UK. A couple of years ago, one of the great British naval victories (can't remember which, but probably against the French...usually was), was re-enacted, not using clearly defineable British and opposing ships, but rather, blue and red, so as not to actually, well represent either country.

If only the islamists, when they openly burn the Stars and Stripes and Union Flag in our streets were similarly sensitive.

Thanks The fanatic for the links to the Victor Hanson articles. I love his quote of John Stuart Mill:

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things,” observed the British philosopher John Stuart Mill. “The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.”

Greetings:

I think that Mr. Trevor Phillips is a fan of Hollyweird movies who has been inspired by Kevin Costner's version of the Robin Hood story which included Morgan Freeman as his trusty Arab/Muslim sidekick.

Minitrue doubleplus pleased. Two legs bad, four legs good. Four legs good, two legs bad. Four legs good, two legs bad, two legs bad, four legs good. Lord Nelson down memoryhole.

"you won't have to wait till 2070 or 2021..."
--- from a posting above

In fact, that imagined anniversary celebration of the Battle of Lepanto was prompted here by an item about the re-enactment of the Battle of Trafalgar, which is what you must be referring to, where "Great Britain" and "France" were replaced by "blue" and "red" so as not to hurt any feelings.

Well, if Christians and the Great Awakening had nothing to do with the founding of the United States, then I guess moslems had everything to do with Britian's history

/sarc

banging head on desk

Who the hell is this guy to have the arrogance to assume that he can "re-write" the history of a country?

Napoleon said that an historian must be more than a man, since History must be objective (and thus void of all the flaws that plague the common of mortals). So, I repeat: who is this arrogant idiot?

In my country that man would be ridiculed not only by the history academia, but also but the common man in the street.

There are several episodes of English History where I disagree with the anglo-saxon version, simply because it doesn't match our records of the same events (for example, Drake was a cut-throat that raided the Spanish and Portuguese coast, when Portugal was an ally and Spain was fighting the Ottomans; our coastline - and the hundreds of forts protecting it - is a testimony of a time when our "ally" was as reliable a foe as the infidels).

And as a sidenote, Brazilian coffee is actually quite bland. It is used solely to "fill-in" the mixtures of coffee. The best coffees are the Arabian, the Indonesian, and the one from East-Timor, all of which have plenty of aroma and flavour. In fact it is no wonder why the Dutch make such good coffee, given their colonial past.

I hope I am not being pedantic Hugh, but Trafalgar was fought between the British Fleet and a combined French Spanish fleet, and if I remember correctly on the 21 October 1805. Another bit of information for the non revisionist historians that might be reading this, and are not offended by real factual history, they didn't dump Nelson's body over the side, which was the usual practice, but brought it back to England pickled in a barrel of rum, complete with a marine guard to stop the sailors drinking the rum. If anybody is in London anytime make a point of going too the National Maritime museum in Greenwich they have a great display concerning the Battle including the clothes which Nelson was wearing when he got shot. The place has not been Islamified as far as I know, but I don't suppose it will be long before you will be able to buy books there with titles such as ( The Dhows place in British Naval warfare) or perhaps for the more discerning readers, ( Dates and the British Navy) or how dates are better at curing scurvy than lime juice.

Dear Atheling,
When you say stool, I presume you are referring to what you make when you go to the toilet, and not one of those things you sit on. The traveling farce that is traveling round Britain at the moment (1001 Islamic Inventions) states that they discovered the mathematical 0. If it was true, which it isn't, then that would sum up perfectly what they have invented and discovered, a BIG BLOODY ZERO The exhibition is what my non PC mum would have described in her broad Yorkshire accent as “fur coat and no bloody nickers” or to put it politely, froth and no substance. Until we get rid of all the muslim money that is sloshing about in the west with there so called muslim charities, and the bribe of jobs, speaking engagements in muslim countries at $1,000,000 dollars a shot this is only going to get worse. Every man has his price and the muslims who have been corrupt since the beginning of their religion know the price to the last dollar.

People, here's a photo of Trevor Phillips:

Darcy, A picture is worth a thousand words and this one explains a lot.

1948 - Arabs kick Israeli butt
1967 - Arabs kick Israeli butt II
1973 - Arabs kick Israeli butt III

Oh, I got that backwards. No problem since we are rewriting history.

Orwell was an optimist.

Don't forget the classic Orwell quote from Animal Farm, "All animals [people] are equal but some animals [people] are more equal than others"
(note:for those of you who do not know this book, its a allegory (not to mention satire!) of communism)

-Peter

'The Battle of Lepanto,' a poem written in 1911 by G. K. Chesterton seems to have been one of the aspects of our culture which has been written-away by these revionists of history. Though it was one of the most popular poems in English culture I doubt it is taught in any English school today. I'm sure it inspired many to resist the evils of Nazism too, as well a resonating with today's struggle to preserve the roots of our civilsation. We need to re-learn history not re-write it to serve the interests of the dhimmi PC cultural elites....

Elizabeth I and the seige of Malta by the Turks.

EUROPE CELEBRATES

In one of the greatest examples of courage and endurance the world has ever witnessed, the Knights of St. John prevailed.

Only 250 knights survived at Malta, and almost every one of them was wounded, maimed or crippled. Europe, however, was now free of the Muslim threat that had appeared so invincible.

In England, Queen Elizabeth I acknowledged that if Malta had fallen to the Turks, England itself would probably have fallen to the Muslims. She ordered the Archbishop of Canterbury to appoint a special form of thanksgiving to be read in every church in the land each day for three weeks. The rest of Europe also celebrated, paying their respects and acknowledging their debt to the Order that had long before been written off as having no real value.

http://www.malteseculturemovement.com/?p=2

Does this sound like QEI would ever be grateful to the Turks. She was a great leader, and recognised that whatever rivalry Britain had with Spain, was within the greater family of Christendom, and peanuts compared to the threat that Islam posed to Christendom not just as a geographic entity but to its culture and civilisation.

It is this kind of hogwash that NuLabour now peddles. Having destroyed education in Britain, they feel the cup is now empty, and can be filled with re-writes of history.

It is worth noting that the majority of the soldiers who defended Malta in the siege were Spanish.

Without the Spanish soldier's fierce resistance to the Turks, England would have fallen to Islam. Then we can forget about the Enlightenment, the birth of science and Industrial revolutions, painting, music etc that these revolutions in thought brought about.

Trevor Philips, " Let's use our heritage to rewrite that story so it is truly inclusive... so we have an identity which binds us in the stormy times we are going to have in the next century.

So let us all lie, and then teach the lies as history in schools.

But in his defence, he recognises that their will be stormy times in the next century - code for civil war, and implicitly recognises that it will be the Muslims who will be the cause.

The peril that the future of the UK has been put in, lies squarely at the feet of all three political parties - it is they who have put the very existence of Britain as a historic identity, at risk.

What I see is civil war, and then the partition of the UK along non-Muslim and Muslim lines. A similar situation will exist throughout Western Europe. Muslims around the world, and specially those in Europe will rally to each other across the national boundaries, while we are constrained by those boundaries.

"Stormy times" my foot. We are looking at a civil war, a global or pan-European civil war, nothing less.

I realise that Trevor Phillips is trying to ease the sitaution with Muslims in Britain, but he should not be doing so by false history. It is not just wrong but ethically and morally despicable.

Hmmm, Darcy...

The article says he and Red Ken Livingstone don't see eye to eye...

Maybe he is cozying up to Ken now?

To see England singled out for the full treatment by the European civilisation was invented by Muslims brigade have a browse in:

Salah Zaimeche's 'The impact of Islamic science and learning on England' at

www.muslimheritage.com/uploads/IslamicScienceAndEngland.pdf

He's a geography researcher at Manchester University and seems to be of Algerian origin. It's the usual 11th and 12th century stuff with contemptuous comparisons between the Muslim world and Britain at the time. Gothic architecture was also invented by the Arabs, didn't you know?

OmegaMan - I thought you might feel that way.

And, he's of Algerian origin? That 'splains things, too.

The UK is heartily sick of PC Dhimmi apologists. Do not think that this man is not a laughing stock.

Just because Muslims have no involvement in the making of Britain or it's history, - for obvious reasons - Trev bless him, thinks that we need to share some with them as it's not right they should be left out. I suppose because Muslims collectively are so immature they need recognition and if they don't get it they might violently demand it. I think Trev in his patronising and insulting way is trying to avoid that by his preposterous and bogus attempt (typical PC bullshit) at "inclusiveness".

By the way my American friends do not think that this is acceptable in any way to your average Brit, far from it. Everyone I have spoken to thinks he is a complete idiot (I am restraining from using the real descriptions mentioned).

Suggesting history should be rewritten for the sake of "inclusiveness" reduces everything to fantasy. Next will be, Muslims invented the A-Bomb and were responsible for putting men on the Moon.

Dr. Bruce Thornton wrote a great article on the Brussels Demo and an analysis of Europe's problem:

(PLEASE POST THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AT OTHER WEBSITES)

The Jihad Awareness Project (to wake up the U.S. Senate) currently has 94 volunteers in 42 states.

WE ARE STILL SEEKING ADDITIONAL CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FROM ALL 50 STATES, ESPECIALLY THE FOLLOWING 8:

Connecticut
Delaware
Mississippi
Montana
North Dakota
South Dakota
Vermont
West Virginia

THE PROJECT: We're looking for people in every state of the Union who would be willing to purchase, from Amazon or any other source, a copy of Robert Spencer's new book Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is And Islam Isn't and mail it, on an agreed upon date, to one of the senators in your state. We want to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message. If we get more than two people per state, books can also be sent to the U.S. House of Representatives.

If you'd like to participate (or you just have questions), please write to me at traehnam@yahoo.com under the subject heading "Senate," and tell me the state your senator represents, and a nickname. No need for your real name. And I will never share your email address with anyone, not even with other volunteers for this project.

And visit jihadawareness.blogspot.com to get more info on this project and to leave comments other volunteers can read. You can also see there the growing list of participants in this project, and the states their senators represent. I've also designed a graphic that might amuse. Scroll down when you get to the site.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.

Right before each of us mails the book, we’ll issue a press release to media outlets in as many states as possible, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.

One of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the Anti-Jihad Caucus in Congress. When we reach the goal of having all 100 senators covered, I'll call Rep. Myrick's office and see if she can help. I've called several congressional offices to get advice on how best to proceed.

He quoted the example of the Spanish Armada, which was held up by the Turks at the request of Queen Elizabeth I.

"It was the Turks who saved us,"
.............................

Is he referring to the Siege of Malta? There were only a reported 400 Spaniards acting in defense of Malta, hardly the entire Armada. More important than this, however--while Spain and England were no doubt fierce rivals during this period, Elizabeth clearly understood the Ottoman threat. She is said to have remarked:

"If the Turks should prevail against the Isle of Malta, it is uncertain what further peril might follow to the rest of Christendom"

These words hardly indicate a debt of gratitude to the Turks for their "saving England". This is hogwash--very dangerous hogwash.

Malta was defended by forces from many parts of Europe, some of which had uneasy relations with each other. But they recognized a common external threat.

Malta did not fall to the Turks.

The England of Elizabeth's day knew its enemies. I wonder if the England of today does as well?

What I don't understand is where Trevor Phillip's gets his presumption to use "us" from. Were his ancestors among those who fought off the Armada? His kind is more comfortable killing off any fond memory the Brits may have of Francis Drake or Raleigh by dismissing them as slavers and brigands. Pretty soon he'll be telling us that Shakespere is inferior to Kalidas and Isaac Newton owed everything to Omar Khayyam. The phrase - dwarfs casting long shadows at twilight -
comes to mind whenever one of these small farts opine on history.

4000 B.C.- Muslims land in England on the Cornwall coast in borrowed Egyptian barques.

3900 B.C.- Muslims erect the first Great Mosque in Britain at Stonehenge. (Originally a Crescent shape, but later Viking raiders closed the circle in their monolithic ignorance.)

3800 B.C.- Muslims return to Arabia to replenish their dwindling supplies of marzipan, where their map is stolen by a cunning Jewish trader (who substituted a diagram of a goat's pancreas in its place) frustrating and preventing the forlorn Mohammedans from returning the to U.K. until the late Renaissance (which they also invented).

3700 B.C.- Muslim scientist al-D'Vynghee fashions the first glider (from ibis bones and papyrus) and then soars around the Sphinx, but the plans for the device were pilfered by a passing Jewish camel dealer, thus delaying human flight for another 4 millennia.

Muslim History: the past ain't what it used to be.

Just a thought, I wonder if Trevor Phillips would also consider looking at the positive aspects of the slave trade?

For example;

“If it were not for the slave trade I and millions like me would be starving in some African hell-hole, doing everything I could to get a place on a rowing boat heading to Britain. Instead, thanks to the slave trade I am enjoying the good life and getting well paid for giving the British hard time ”

When they KNOW they can't get the people to vote for something they form a EU "commission" which hands down a decree. Kind of like activist judges but worse.

Instead of re-writing History we should re-patriate this Trevor Phillips.. BACK TO THE BOGS!!!

Man!! The more I read this morning the more I get AGITA!!!!! That's a New York term. Upset stomach is a really bad translation for it but it's the best i can do..

AGITA!!!!

Trevor Phillips.... tu sei proprio un vero svacheem!!!

Affanculo!!

Cosmic patriot - I can't recall when I first read "The Battle of Lepanto", but it's one of my favourite poems.

And dp111 - thanks for reminding us of the siege of Malta 1565:
"In one of the greatest examples of courage and endurance the world has ever witnessed, the Knights of St. John prevailed.

"Only 250 knights survived at Malta, and almost every one of them was wounded, maimed or crippled. Europe, however, was now free of the Muslim threat that had appeared so invincible.

"In England, Queen Elizabeth I acknowledged that if Malta had fallen to the Turks, England itself would probably have fallen to the Muslims. She ordered the Archbishop of Canterbury to appoint a special form of thanksgiving to be read in every church in the land each day for three weeks. The rest of Europe also celebrated, paying their respects and acknowledging their debt to the Order that had long before been written off as having no real value".

Perhaps some of us need to remind the present Archbishop of Canterbury about this episode in history and suggest that the 'special form of thanksgiving' prescribed by Elizabeth I be unearthed from the archives and re-enacted on a suitable date, say, following the anniversary of the end of the siege. Honour those who helped save our ancestors from the seven hells of dhimmitude.

THIS - the Siege of Malta 1565, the Battle of Lepanto 1571 - is the kind of story that Hollywood should be tackling. It leaves '300' for dead, because it's so much closer to home.

Failing Hollywood - graphic novel, webzine, anybody? Anybody?

COMMENT

Interesting that he is an Algerian. I seem to remember that on gaining independence the Algerians offered French settlers living there a choice between a coffin or a suitcase.

Now he is in the UK telling us how great he is, where do they get the cheek?

Fred - France had control of Algeria from 1830 to 1962. Entire generations of Frenchmen were born, lived and died in Algeria. Kind of like the Afrikaners. Somehow the term 'settler" fails to capture the connection these people had to the place of their birth. The fate of these "pied noirs" is usually ignored by historians and sociologists and the government of France. If they had no business in Algeria, what business do Algerian immigrants have in France?

Holger Dansker - "Fur coat and no bloody knickers..." Never heard that bit of Yorkshire wisdom, but I love it! While at Fort Hood,Texas, I heard the same condition described by the phrase "all hat and no cattle..."

I wonder what words of wisdom Enoch Powell would have had to say about this little twat and his stupid treasonous ideas? Probably "I told you so!"
Shame we never had the guts to let him kick them all out back in the 60's. It would have saved us an awful lot of trouble at some point in the future.

Vote BNP send all of these morons back to the dark age states they belong in.

I seriously doubt that any contributions Islam has made to the U.K. has been in the spirit of altruism. From what I've read this culture has always been opportunistic and self-serving and to credit it with having a genuine interest in
advancing civilization is very niave. I believe that about 1% of any deliberately noble acts have actually been committed in a humanitarian spirit.
