KABUL, Afghanistan - A top U.S. commander on Friday accused Iran of supplying powerful roadside bombs to militants in Afghanistan, as a suicide car bomb in the capital killed a French soldier and an Afghan bystander.Heavy battles in the violence-plagued south, meanwhile, killed 75 Taliban and at least six civilians.
Adm. William Fallon, the head of U.S. Central Command, said Iran's Revolutionary Guard is supplying roadside bomb parts for the type of sophisticated and deadly bombs found in Iraq known as explosively formed penetrators.
"The Iranians are clearly supplying some amount of lethal aid," Fallon told The Associated Press during a trip to Afghanistan. "There is no doubt ... that agents from Iran are involved in aiding the insurgency."
Fallon said the U.S. would "act decisively" if the cross-border flow continues. His comments were not meant as a threat of military action against Iran but a suggestion that border interdiction efforts may need to be increased, Fallon's aides said later.
Iran has denied that it is supplying arms to fighters in Afghanistan.
Fallon said Iran is also providing development assistance in western Afghanistan, which he labeled as helpful.
NATO's International Security Assistance Force has said that three shipments of weapons originating in Iran have been intercepted in Afghanistan since April. The latest was discovered in the western province of Farah on Sept. 6.
And why shouldn't they supply weapons to our enemies? They know we aren't going to do anything about it except write newspaper articles. Apparently even WE are supplying our enemies with weapons.

I'm wondering why we aren't flying along the borders of both east and west sides of Iran, bombing or strafing anyone or anything crossing out of or into Iran. The political leadership of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is woefully inadequate. Turn the troops loose to destroy the threat wherever thyey find it.
This is common knowledge and yet he is free to come and go as he pleases? What has happened to our men? Oh, maybe when Mahmoud gets here someone will volunteer to fix the undercarriage of vehicle. That would be a very kind gesture, don't you think?
When last in power the Taliban was busy attempting to kill the Hazara, the Shi'a people centered in Herat. But the Iranians are just as happy to supply arms, for the killing of Infidels, to the Taliban in Afghanistan as to the Sunnis, or some of them, in Iraq. This should not puzzle analysts for more than a half-minute. Anyone is a temporary friend, and deserving of such weaponary, as long as it will be used to kill Americans and other Infidels.
No way?! ...and this is "new"? Since the Islamic Republic of Iran signed economic trade agreements with Iraq (around '04/'05) IRI agents have been in and out of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The EFP intel has been around since early '06. How are they "IEDs" if they are mass produced in a factory?? Hey, newsflash: Pakistan has the bomb, Jihad is holy war, and Dewey defeats Truman.
This has been ongoing since day 1...same for Iraq, too.
